im not too happy with the phones stadart vibration pattern for incoming calls and sms - its way too long and too 'loud'; is there a way to somehow chage it permanently? that would make my life a whole lot easier.anyone a idea? thanks
yup...I totally agree with you!I also need to know how to edit the vibration.
maybe by changing something in the registry would help..
there MUST be a way. ever noticed the short vibration when switching the phone on.
somehow it should be possible to edit it
yup and I'm pretty sure that it can be done by editing the registry..
hey there, after a bit of searching on the net i found something that might help us out.
i found the registry scripts for incoming calls and sms.
if you go to HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\
youll find a entry called script
this entry describes the phone's action on an incoming call. if your phone is in "Normal" profile mode the script should be "av0pw3r"
the letters stand for the following commands:
a - start loop
v - vibration in seconds (0=infinite)
p - play ringtone
w - wait "x" seconds
r - repeat loop
now the problem in this whole thing is, that this script always changes automatically to another variaton depending on your active profile.
e.g. if you switch your phone to "vibrate" profile the original code would be
"av3w3r" lets assume youd like the vibration to be active only for one second instead of three. the code would then logically be "av1w3r".
switching back to "normal" profile would set the script back to "av0pw3r" and switching once more back to "Vibrate" would still change the script into the old one "av3w3r" even if you changed it before to "v1".
i have no clue how to teach the phone to keep the changed settings but maybe someone out there would pick my idea up and try to create a tiny app for these registry keys to PERMANENTLY be edited and changed.
with sms it is pretty much the same deal.
since there is no Script entry in HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SMS\ i simply created one in vibrate mode. its av1 for me.
the bad news with this entry is that the phone wont change it at all when switching profiles so youd have to change it manually every time youd like a different style for your incoming sms pattern (av1pr for a short vibration, then playing the sms sound, then a repeat).
this is how far ive come with my resarch about this. it would be really nice to catch some motivated programmer's attention on this topic to make the scripts change with different profiles.
greetings

A)see if you can find the registry that changes the profiles and see if u can edit vibration there.
B)If you can't change the vibration from there then :
1.find and extract the registry that switches profile to normal.
2.edit the vibration script from "av3w3r" to "av1w3r"
3.Extract the registry HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0\
4.edit the sms script
5.extract the registry HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SMS\
6.Now you have 3 registry files, merge them to 1 file using nothepad(1st the file from step 1,then from step 3,then from 5).
Do the same for each profile.
That way you will have a reg file for each profile. Now every time you want to switch between profiles just run the corresponding
reg file.
I didn't manage to find a way to edit the registry permanently...
All I've done is that I have created a ".reg" file that edits the vibration script to av1w3r...So every time after I switch a profile I run this file and vibration becomes edited...
I have added this "reg" file at the start menu and I have set a hot key for it.So I just press "button 2" and the vibrations becomes 1 second.
i couldnt find any profile settings for the scripts neither, but im glad you could at least create a alternative way, thanks a lot on this. is there a way i can add a reg entry for the sms script too?it should be something like 'v1' in meeting profile and 'v1p' in normal mode. but since originally there isnt any script for the sms the phone wouldnt change it automatically back when in normal mode so it must be edited each time switching modes thats the problem. i dont really know how to manage this without creating a second cab, but that would make the whole thig even more difficult

The best think I can think of..is making some kind of little program based on reg files..that will switch between profiles...but unfortunately I don't know how to make one...
At the moment I have just made separated reg files to edit vibration for sms and ringtone.
------------------------------
Vibration.reg:sets ringtone to av1pw1r and sms to av1
sms to av1.reg:sets sms to av1
sms to av1p.reg:sets sms to av1p
ringtone av1pw1r:sets ringtone to av1pw1r
------------------------------------------
using these you can select the vibration you like each time.

I am running veg's wm6 rom with the modded six tab plug-in although these questions refer to the home plug-in regardless of version:
1. clock displays am/pm - I want 24 hour display if possible. phone settings are set to 24hour, is it a reg hack for the plug-in?
2. when adding contacts/favorite people to the plug-in how can I specify which number for a contact to use? it seems to default to the first entry for a contact which usually happens to be the mobile number when what I want to add is the office number. (may be a general wm6 question as well)
Additional question - How did I enable my ringtones as system notifications? (I can use them as ringtones, but they don't show as system notifications.)
thanks for your input - I have spent a couple of hours searching before I posted, but being at work 16 hours a day kind of limits the time I can spend online at any one time (perils of being tech support for a school district).
some answers
answer to question 1
go to settings, system, regional settings and set it there - duh!
another answer
ringtones sometimes are "hidden" by default
make sure your ringtone files are not hidden - I believe notification sounds need to be in wave format, but I haven't tested that yet
You should find much of what you want on this post on the WM 6 area: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316107. There are numerous discussions on this plug in there and if you cannot find what you want I suspect you'll attract help there with a post.
Good Luck
thanks
thanks tony!
posted there as well
If I find an answer I will post it here
Next question.. how do I get pictures displayed for the favorite people instead of the first name?

Ringtone switched to vibrate with no reason
I have installed schaps rom, and it worked great, but after installed an ad on that activate my ptt function when my calendar alarm goes on (at least that´s the only think i could see that triggers the issue) it change the ringtone to vibrate only... any one has an idea how to solve this? thanks
I know you can set the sound to AUTOMATIC so its on vibrate for appointments in the calendar...but I can only seem to find that setting by going to the SETTINGS tab on the TF3D screen. I was trying to cleanup the tabs I don't use often (using the TF3D Advance Config program), and I think I can do away with the SETTINGS tab completely if I can find another way to set the sounds to AUTOMATIC. I have searched almost all of the icons in the START / SETTINGS area, but all I can find there are ways to change the ringer or change the type from ring to silent etc. Is there a way to set the ring type to AUTOMATIC without going through the TF3D settings tab?
Thanks!

Please dont start new threads for things such as this. Especially in the ROM development section.
apologize...
I apologize for posting here...I had been up for so long, I thought I was in another Raphael forum. I did search and found nothing even close to my question, which is why I started a new thread instead of adding a reply to an existing one. I will search a lot more since I have time and try to post an appropriate reply in another thread, in another forum. Sorry for the trouble. If you are able to delete this entire thread, go ahead and do so.
Thanks, and sorry again!
Please help!!!
Hi i just flashed new official rom: RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship
released on 11 oct 2010 by htc. There is no longer screen setting in the options menu?
I have located in the registry under GUI where to place the entries 1 folder called Font smothing and one called clear type but what entries do i need to make to enable them both?
100. Enable Align Screen Calibration in Settings
Certain US roms or custom roms do not have the screen calibration option showing in All Settings, System, Screen. This allows you to tap on crosshairs to calibrate the screen. To enable it just use the registry tweak below:
HKLM\ControlPanel\Pen and change from 1 to 0.

Yes But even then font smothing is not visible, that was only availiable through the quick preferences-screen not in all settings screen in previous roms
just dont want to have flash back to an old rom then back just for these settings after spending most of a day re-installing programs back on and changing settings to find these two missing.
where exactly was the font smoothing setting? i don't think i've ever seen anything labeled like that. just cleartype which says "smoothes the edges of screen fonts"
reg for cleartype is....
create the registry branch
hklm/system/GDI/CLEARTYPE
it doesn't need any keys or values, the branch existing is enough to turn on cleartype
hklm/system/GDI/CLEARTYPE already exists yet is not activated so how do you enable it? what entries need to be made in this folder?
font smoothing setting is also under hklm/system/GDI/ the same again this entry exists what entries need to be made in this folder?
in cleartype settings is only offonrotation
some apps require cleartype turning on within them. resco explorer for instance. scan your registry for "cleartype" there are a few hits.
Update half way there
Managed to get cleartype working in all progs and enabled thanks to another forum,
Just now need help to get font smothing working
how you did it?
How you managed to enable clear type in new rom. Pls help i cannot.

nothing else goes in that folder, the folder itself is all that is required to tell winmo to use cleartype. (At least thats how its supposed to work, thats how it works on non 3.14 roms)
Hello
I have upgrade my HD2 from 1.66 to 3.14 - stock european rom (danish). No extra's except Cookies hometab.
I have searched, and searched and found answers, but sadly they do not work here.
Issue: SMS Notification: SMS Sent successfully (translated)
I do not want it. And i cannot seem to turn it off.
I have looked into SMS -> Settings .... and there is no mark in the SMS Delivery Report (again my translation). Tried some registry changes found using google, and still the I get the notification.
So the question is: how to turn it off ? Is it possible ?
tia
mvh / best regards
I had the same issue, and I could disable it.
When you're in the settings tab, use the Menu soft key and click the Plus menu item (it should be the only one), to access the Windows Mobile (i.e. not Sense's) control panel.
From there, you should be able to navigate to (roughly translated, I use the French ROM) sounds and notifications(sounds and alerts ?), then navigate to the second tab. There is a drop down list where you can select the "SMS sent" notification, and then, uncheck all the boxes to stop notifications.
When this is done, just press OK at the top left corner of the screen to save the changes, and return to the manila (sense) UI.
I hope this solves your problem.

Hi and thank you.
I tried it, but no effect.
It is not a big issue - just a small annoying one
so I can live with it.

Guys from HTC will probably never make SMS working perfectly on HD2. Fixing one thing, break another. These annoying notifications happen because of a missing registry entry. Just add it manually:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\Messaging]
"DisableSMSSuccess"=dword:00000001
Worked for me.

And for me as well. Thank you.
Perhaps something for Tips & Tricks ?
If you don´t want to mess with the registry there is a cab file that does it for you.
http://www.4shared.com/file/9eCnZJR4/SMS_zend_popup_uitschakelen.html
It´s in dutch but it works with any language.
I installed the cab to disable the "message sent" notification, but since then the sms conversation mode has stopped working. When I receive a message I can see it on the messages screen but when I tap it the screen opens with the top half of the screen blank, where the sender's message should be displayed. The bottom half of the screen shows the reply section with "Tap to add text".
Uninstalled the cab and soft reset but cannot get back the conversation mode. I seem to remember someone posting about a similiar issue with an earlier rom, but despite searching I can't find it.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Edit: deleted all my messages and now conversation mode seems to be working again
Fix worked
This has really been bugging me since upgrading too..reg fix suggested works a treat with no ill side effects, thanks!
i created the registry key and it worked.
Thanks a lot!

sorry to ask you again
can you write me what do i add?
i dont want to use the cab
i added as you said the dword value but it didnt work.maybe the DisableSMSSucess should be DisableSMSSuccess?
change ur rom...
i added the string manually and all ok
In some cases you need to set following value, too:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings]
"SMSNoSentMSG"=dword:00000001
Hi. Its a common problem. I called HTC Support and they said that is an error in this ROM upgrade. They still dont know if an upgrade will come to fix the proglem. It probably will. I had the same problem so I "Downgraded" the ROM to 1.66

Stefan

Hello. I have never written any software...so I cannot do it myself. I don't know whether it already exists or not....in case, I don't think it would be more than 5 minutes work for you people....
What I need is an application (one single .exe) which turns off the screen.
Why do I need this? I recently installed a voice clock (i run the .exe and the voice tells me the time in my earphone). The problem is that when i run the voice clock, the screens turns itself on...turning on also the 4 hardware buttons (i have a HTC TOUCH blackstone). The mobile is usually inside my jacket, in a pocket which is not really comfortable to reach...also because i have often backpacks, or luggage, or i am riding a bike and so on...that's why i just launch the application (voice clock) speaking in the microphone of the earphone set.
Result: i launch the application, screen and buttons turn on for one minute (after one minute there is the automatic switch off)....in that one minute EVERYTHING happens: calls start, application open, sms are being written....everything inside my pocket.
SO
it would be really helpful for me to have an .exe which turns my screen off. I would be then able to launch the voice clock, and then launch the black screen .exe....so that i can avoid that 'inside the jacket' business.
don't think i'm crazy...in my situation this thing is really helpful.
xnView Pocket creates slideshows in exe format... But what you want is to suspend your phone (just making the screen black doesn't work... LMAO).
Mortscript may be of help. Just adapt the following in notepad, save and change the file extension to .mscr. This will launch your clock, wait a minute and put your phone to sleep
Code:
Run("your_clock_exe_or_link_path_here") #you must keep the quotes
Sleep ( 60000 ) #this is 60 seconds but you probably don't need this much
PowerOff
If you need an exe file to lauch it just copy the "autorun.exe" inside the Mortscript setup folder to the same folder as the script, change the name to be the same as the script and assign the new exe to the button you want.
I seriously encourage you (and anyone else with a WinMo) to get familiar with Mortscritp. It's both easy (I'm not a coder either) and extremely useful.
Get QuickShutdown. When use this a long press on power button allows you 'slide to turn off the screen'. I find this useful for same problem as you - except with music player!
How do you run your voice clock without turning on the screen?
Is your voice clock launched every some time?
By the wayn what voice clock do you use? There might be a setting in this program to avoid turning on the screen...
@michoob
i have a voice clock called 'vasquez'. The voice quality is not that much...but i just have to run the exe (through clicking on it or through the voice command to the vasquez.exe) and i get the voice in the earphone (no applications popping up...just the voice. the setup is another .exe which i ran only once to set the right options).
The screen turns itself on whenever you activate the voice command. The clock doesn't have an option to turn off the screen right after the time has been said.
I'll try the solution given by frmariam ....doesn't seem bad, although i didn't really understand it. It looks a bit difficult, if i keep having problems (the ones i said in the first post...that is, everything happening inside my pocket then i'll try that solution.
try mylostblog's myLight. google it. it has this feature in menu where you can turn off screen. it's also a user friendly app to adjust the backlight.
i don't think i would be able to have a voice command to the SCREEN OFF command with that software (you need to click on something inside the menu). thanks anyway.
Ah, ok, so the problem is not directly related to your voice clock, but more to the fact that when you enable the voice command, the screen toggles on.
Which voice command software do you use?
Maybe you could find a way to avoid your voice command software to toggle on the screen?
Otherwise, the MortScript solution can be good, but I wouldn't use the PowerOff function which doesn't only turns off the screen, but actually suspend your device, so you might have unexpected behaviours. For instance, the voice command may not work if your device is suspended... I don't know.
So instead of the PowerOff function, I would rather use one of the solutions proposed here.
