/is it possible to make the camera zoom more?
Analog? - no.
Digital? - yes, but that's just cropping the image, so can be done afterwards.

Hi, the size of picture taken does not match what I see in the camera app, and by size I don't mean image size on disk or resolution.
Basically, what I see "through the lens", as in, what I see on screen when I open the camera app, is slightly smaller than what I get when I take a picture and view it in Gallery. It seems the camera is capturing a little more than what's shown to me on the phone screen. It's pretty annoying when you line up a nice shot only to have the picture taken framed slightly larger than what you saw on screen.
Anyone else have this problem?
I'm using CM10.2.0 stable for i9300, clean install (wipe system, data, cache, preload), with stock CM10.2 camera and gallery.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

What you see on screen in AOSP camera is 16:9 and camera sensor is 4:3, so you have an answer
You can shoot in 6MP 16:9 if you want exactly the same.

Thank you so much.
Do you mean that the camera only shoots 4:3 in 8MP? Is this because 8MP is its native resolution so it matches the camera as 4:3?
Is there any way I could take advantage of the 8MP camera but have it shoot in 16:9?

Exactly. Camera is able to shoot in 4:3 in 8MP mode. Basically it's an industry standard. Almost all cameras (from iPhone to even entry level DSLRs) shoot in 4:3. Other popular standards are 3:2 and 5:4. 16:9 is used mostly by cinematography.

No. Either you have to choose 8MP 4:3 or 6MP 16:9.
6MP 16:9 would be nothing more than cropped 8MP picture to maintain 16:9 ratio.
I'm not sure if this mod is already out or not but since the camera is using software for portrait, it should be possible to do portrait photos without zoom. Is it possible for someone to create a modded camera with no zoom for portrait?
Google Camera 5.1 Port which fully working with Nokia 5 and maybe with Nokia 6 because it has the same hardware.

GCamera_Mod_v.3.4.14_R4X.apk

I don't see any 13 MP option
Sent from my Xperia XZ3 using XDA Labs
Make sure the resampling is enabled.
"Experimental Settings:
- Resampling: Enabled"
The image is postprocessed (interpolated to 13 mpx) check the taken photo size. Yes, interpolated but is still better than 8MPX.
Camera front
when taking a photo with the front camera it looks like blurry and ugly, even with the hdr + or without the. and the portrait mode looks fuzzy and purple or green
Thanks
This one is more snappier and more optimized than the previous GCam 5.1 i used
Slow motion doesn't work but I'm fine with that
Most of the fancy stuff like manual focus, HDR+, Portrait and Lens Blur does work
Edit: the Built-in camera app does have slow motion, so there's that

You're welcome.
It seems there isn't setting to change save location of the picture(or video).
It use internal memo, kinda need to save space.
Is there any method to change the save location ?
Works great. Thanks for the recommended settings. Much appreciated.
gcam for p smart 2019
Use Open Camera
Tried every possible gcam port. None of them is working properly. Then I downloaded Open Camera, used it before on another phone. The jpg or png that come straight out of the app are ok, a bit better than stock. But the DNG, raw files, have so much more potential. For critical shots, take the raw files, do some quick editing on Adobe Lightroom (free app) and you'll be amazed how much detail is available. The raw files are on par with my LG G6 pictures. It's just that the in camera jpg processing is not that great. The sensor though is able to capture lots of details. For normal shots the stock camera is fine.
Stock photo camera is fine but video camera is awfull!
Google cam from Arnova8G2 GCam_6.1.021_Advanced_V1.5.190418.1850.apk work on my P Smart 2019
Picture, Video, Lens Blur, Panorama and HDR mode work well.
Only thing that didn't work are Portrait and Night mode.

My telephoto lens doesn't work when I set the portrait to 3x or basically it never works with portraiture photography. Only with normal photos...
Are there any solutions for that?
I believe the telephoto lens is whats used to create the blur on the regular portrait photos, so I am not sure you can do portrait on the 3x lens.

But it works on normal photo mode as a zoom camera.

Yes it works in normal photos as a camera on its own, when you do portrait you use both lenses at once, the zoom is used to create the blur behind you.
Aha but why it is just cropping the image?

It's a crop of the main sensor because the main sensor is used for the image, and the telephoto sensor is used for depth information.

Yeah I got it but then this is a huge mistake of Huawei here. Because usually portraits come much better from a telephoto lens then the main sensor though it has an opening of 1.8 I guess and a larger sensor which makes perfect combination for depth of field images...
