Program to force network operator? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have this problem that my galaxy s won't always connect back to the 3g network when it becomes available again.
Right now I have to go into settings and there search for available networks and click on the right one and connect to it.
Shouldnt there be an app somewhere or script that could do this from from the desktop, by widget or icon, to force-connect to the network with id '24005' ?
No problem if it requires root, but do you guys know if this is possible at all?

I too would love to be able to switch network operators with a simple app or script.
An automatic switch based on location would be very useful.

[Q] Please help, Applications/Hubs not connecting via Wi-Fi network

Hi All, finally have my device with me.
Having problems setting up the data connections via wifi please help.
I have set up the wifi network on my device. The web browser works fine, no problem at all.
But when I click any application which requires internet connection, I am not able to connect via wifi.
Application example, Email, Gtalk , Gmail , Android Market etc..
All these applications work fine when I disable my wifi and use my SIM cards EDGE network for data connection. But as soon as I enable wifi these application give the error message , that they could not connect to server.
My wifi is working, the web browser works, I have checked.
Is there a setting which I need to enable so that the applications use the wifi network also for data connections ?
Please Help, this is my 1st android device, have I overlooked some settings which I need to enable ?
Any idea anyone, what setting have I missed
I am getting really desperate now, please please someone help me out.
I have searched the net,the forums, other forums....found similar posts , but no answers.
My GPRS is working absolutely fine with the apps,
wifi is working but only in browser.
I am not able to access any apps via wifi network.
For my wifi network I have to use proxy server, is that the reason for the apps not working via wifi ?
Is there a solution for it ?

there were a couple of other users at various forums who were facing similar issues as to what I am facing, but no one was able to solve their query.

[APP] [Q] looking for a smart wireless management app

No idea if this is in the right section of the forum, but here's my question:
I'm looking for a smart wireless management app for Android 2.2.2
Main function I'm looking for is the ability to let it automatically switch between WiFi and 3G as soon as signal drops below an exact specified value. Right now I have a fairly fast #G connection on Vodafone NL, but when I'm home I switch to Wifi to save cost. At some spots in my house the 3G connection is way faster then my Wifi signal, so I want it to atomatically choose the fastest connection. Anyone knows about an app that can do this?
And if there is no app like that out there, anyone willing to take a shot at developing one
Many thanx, DM

Uhhm... thx for the link, but not really what I'm looking for. It sounds very complicated to install, and even more complicated to tweak. Isn't there any simple app out there that chooses the connection with best send/receive qualities?
Admin, please close thread, posted it somewhere else.

I'm going to guess you have a custom ROM...
If so, usually the answer is to adjust the APN settings under Settings - Wireless and Network - Mobile Network - Access Points - and change "supl" to the primary APN from the secondary. At least that is how I have to set it for it to work properly, especially in AOSP derived ROM's like CM7.
Yes im using a custom rom gut i was doing what u told me but where is this supl???
Im using turkbey custim rom by the way
I went till ccess point names but i cant find this supl to change it...
Thanks for th help....

I don't have a supl either. In my case I cleared the "APN type" setting, that did the trick.

[Q] Issue with the H/3G in the bar

Hi all, my best wishes.
I have a Huawei UM840 with HSDPA (is equivalent to Huawei U8220), with my mobile operator HSDPA is available where I live, always appears the 'H' in the bar of my phone.
I installed several custom ROMs and appears in all the "H".
Yesterday I installed a ROM and now only shows "3G".
I guess it's an adjustment inside the ROM, Can I change that?
Thanks for your opinions.

[Q] Wifi icon not turning green ONLY on my wifi

I have just noticed that since a few days back my wifi icon in my CM7 nookcolor is not turning green anymore. Apparently the only related problem is gmail is not refreshing automatically. Google Play is working fine and I'm able to browse the internet.
The problem must be related to my wifi, because whenever I connect to my neighbors or my office wifi, it goes green without doing anything special.
I read google play requires an specific port open in the firewall, which is not open in mine although Gplay is working without it.
Is there any specific port or another setting that should be enabled in my wifi in order to my nook to connect to google servers?
Thanks.

Bump. Any ideas
Out of curiosity, who is your ISP? If you have AT&T U-Verse, you might have a mega router problem. I had one with my Nexus S and the icon wasn't lighting up green either.
It's a Mexican cable network called CablevisiĆ³n.
