[Q] Does installing a new ROM wipe contacts? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
Sorry if this is a nooby question, im sure the answer is yes but I cant find a obvious answer...
When my phone gets back from repair im going to install the Energy ROM on it. However I havent backed up my contacts (needed to sort them out anyway) so I will get them from the people I actually speak to these days.
However, before I start adding them, does the ROM wipe them? As it will be a waste of time D:
Thanks.

I wouldnt hold out much hope of your contacts still being there when it gets back from repair...........
Chances are they're gonna hard reset or reflash your phone.........
I cant imagine they'll bother to back up and restore for you..............
To answer your question though........ yes a flash will wipe everything.... except sim and sd cards.....(which you should remove while flashing, just in case)

Yeah they said they would wipe it... I could do with a clean fresh set of my contacts now anyway
Hmm, need to back them up but Active Sync just fails for me

I would reccomend "myphone" from the marketplace.......
Syncs contacts, calendar, texts, photos, tones etc all to "the cloud"
Takes 2 mins to send em up and when you want em back takes 2 mins to bring em back down..........
you can get it free from the marketplace.......

before you even try activesync for the first time, go settings - menu - all settings - connections - usb to pc and turn off 'enable faster data'
Syncing never works for me with that turned on, and if you try to sync before you turn it off and it fails, and then you turn it off, it still wont sync till you reboot the phone and the computer.

Almost ashamed to bring this in, but I am flashing ROMs rather often, and I am using a "trick" which I am not quite sure if it safe to do.
Just copy the file "pim.vol" from the very root folder of your device to a safe place on the storage card. After flashing or somehow getting a new ROM, copy that file back at the mentioned location. Do a soft reset, and your contacts and calendar should be back. Like I said, I am not sure if this is safe to do, but for me it worked dozens of times.
Don't blame me if it fails for you! Needless to say that you must not do such kind of actions without having a backup.

When do i loose my apps? If i wipe data? Factory Reset? New ROM? New Theme? If i have lets say 20 apps on my phone now and i want to change ROM how do i transfer them?
Also, does modaco rom provide multitouch? And which ROM is the fastest?
Merry Christmas to all and a Happy new year
uhm wiping/factory reset erases everything youve ever done (except stuff on sd card:])
new roms usually erase almost everything but depending on what rom you have a new rom might not (read the post with the rom file to find out), i know modaco 3.0 wont erase anything at all if you've got the ruu update from the htc site. (didnt erase anything for me anyways + it said it wouldnt)
modaco 3.0 has multi touch, and is faster than stock, although if you dont wipe before installing modaco 3.0 some people said that it was slow...(i didnt wipe and im still fassst)
there ya go! haha happy new yearss
edit
and new themes wont erase stuff (usually) some people who dont have a clue might upload a theme inside a rom (never seen it but possible), in which case the new rom might erase everything (doubt that this would happen...not from this site anyways)

ah thx :>
if i factory reset will it erase the apps i have on my SD?
and btw i installed a theme yesterday and when i started up my phone it stuck on HTC logo for more than 20minutes.. I removed the battery and restarted the phone and it was all ok, theme was applied but i lost 3-4 apps :S any idea why?
and something last, do u know where to find the default fonts of HTC hero? Some1 posted them somewhere but when i try to install that package it stops at Package (8) and then installation aborted
Happy new year
im not sure about that as i dont use apps to sd.. i dont think it would considering the factory reset does stuff on the internal memory not the sd card!
not sure why you would loose apps... all i can think of is that you might loose settings in some apps that are changed.. like if the theme changed stuff in an app that you had settings in.. you would loose those settings
i dont no anything about fonts sorry havnt looked into itt!
happy new year to you too!
any1 knows if installing 2.0 will erase my current apps/loose root/loose anything at all?

Yes & Yes lol
meh, i have hard time accessing Market so if i loose all my apps = not worth it at ALL
btw, i tried installing a theme 2 days ago and i backed up before i installed it.. i installed the theme, DIDNT like it so i restored.. some apps were missing, i had the shortcuts on my home screen though, but whenever i try to reinstall them it says -App- Could not be installed on this phone, any idea why? I've lost contact and sms applications aswell-.-'
also, if i backup, copy the file to my pc, factory reset and restore EVERYTHING will be back to normal and perhaps some problems will be fixed?
when you say backup your referring to a nandroid backup right?

Yes, ofc
Since the theme install my apps are no longer installed in SD and am running low on space now and i cant uninstall the broken apps since i cant find them on Manage applications/Quick uninstaller
ohh.. i dont use apps2sd and my nandroid backups have been 100% the same as when i originally copied them :|
so i guess if it were me id manually backup everything, like contacts and apps to your sd card.. then factory reset (themes wont be back to normal)...
for contacts iv never had an app that correctly backed them up so use sync from htc and sync to microsoft outlook or something like that.
sorry!, i know how loong it takes to install so many apps at once! (very annoying) but thats really the only bad part!
and yea so your theme will still be changed so, install a new theme i guess! or there might be a revert back to normal sense on here for that theme so use that just like a theme to get back to normal!
if you wanna go back to normal and you used one of my themes i can send you a revert back..
double post :/

manually backup? Full backup from nandroid and copy SDcard folders?:S or?
have never done a sync tbh
i dont care how long it takes, i just dont have interent access all the time, i dont have a wifi router in my house at all tbh... is there anyway to extract my current apps as apks?
dont care about the theme tbh
wait im kinda lost just explain what you have right now and what you want plz? aha
well il try.. but dont do anything yet unless your sure about it there might be an easier way i dont think i even know what exactly happened so...
if you just want to get rid of the broken app links then all i can think of is start over with a backup of your working apps and contacts ..
install ASTRO file manager if you can get it, i use it and its perfect for backing up apps..
so open it, hit menu, tools, app manager, hit the top empty checkmark box to select all your apps..then hit backup... now all the apk's are on your sd card
*make sure they all showed up when you selected them all.. i dont know what will happen because you use appstosd! (maybe there are apk files already on your sd? look through i guess)
for contacts
uh go to htc site and go to support, click hero then downlaod HTC Sync if you dont have it already...
make sure sync is open and plug your hero in
then in htc sync hit sync and follow through that, i used outlook because i had it and no problems for me, make sure all goes well too! like if you used outlook, after it finishes, go to outlook and go to contacts to make sure there in there!
now get the ruu from htc site if you want to start fresh orr to keep your root/custum recovery get any rom like modaco 3.0???
then boot into recovery, wipe your hero, then install modaco 3.0...
now your back to the start so get the app "ASTRO"
and follow the back up steps above except when you get into app manager, hit the tab on the right, and this is the part where you hold your finger on an app, install, ok for everyy app :\
then with htc sync open plug your phone in, hit sync
your contacts should now be on your phone...
if you had facebook links they should automatically link (they did for me at least) i can easily see this not happening though...
so now all you gota do is redo all your app settings!
i have no idea about apps2sd though, i think it takes for eveer to install modaco 3.0 if youv got apps on your sd card in the right formatted partition so DONT pull the battery! i think thats why you lost apps in the first place!
edit*
i uploaded astro for ya
http://www.4shared.com/file/188345514/7fe3f26e/commetagoastro.html
i have Astro but it was already installed and now its broken inside.. so i cant reinstall it
is there any other program i am allowed to use rather than outlook?
if i wipe my hero, i wont loose anything on SD?
also when i wipe do i loose contacts?
i knew that it takes a lot to install modaco 3.0 as i had installed 2.1, 2.8, 2.9 but the THEME i installed was JUST a notification bar (not even the drag-down notification) and it took MORE than 20 minutes...
thx for astro btw

wait so you got astro installed now?...
i think so.. it gave me at least 2 options i just chose outlook.. it cant hurt (i cant get to that screen since iv already done it)
a wipe should not touch the sd card.. to be safe unplug the sd card! haha
yes with a wipe im pretty sure you loose contacts (unless contacts are on ur sim card im not sure about this)
edit
ohh i see my mistake, you cant install astro without astro lol my bad... let me check for somethin else
hmm so if you can get internet, download astro (even though the app button link wont work)
you will be able to get to the program through the notification once, so i think thats your only bet to backup apps,

i can upload those sure... no problem.. rageing thunder is is a demo becuase you have to pay for the full game, so i dont have it and cannot upload it anyways (warez not allowed on this site).

How to Cancel the Hard Reset Procedure?

Hi everyone.
This may make me sound like dumb, what yeah, sometimes people make noobish mistake. Please help me!
This is what happened:
While I was researching about Rooting and Custom ROM and stuff, I saw a vid where a person goes into the console of the phone by pressing 3 buttons: Menu + Volume down + Power. I tried to do the same, just for the heck of it.
So, while I was starting the phone by pressing those 3 buttons, I was expecting I would be taken in console mode. BUT NO! After a long boot up, it greeted me with a Select language option.. and after that it asks me to set date and time formats etc..
It was then that hit me, that I may have hard reseted the phone! I googled and came across a vid, which explained the same thing, that, that procedure was for hard resetting and not going into the console mode!
Now is there an option to revert back this hard resetting, since I DONT want to erase the contents of my phone! :'(
My phone is still lying in that menu for about an hour now.
well if u saw closely that procedure wud have also explained that you should install the console looking thing before u start it?
u hard resetted it
So, pressing those 3 buttons just hard resets it? Instantly? Doesn't ask for ANY confirmation?
I don't care about apps, those can be re-downloaded, and contacts can be resync with google account (probably). But all those files which I created through native apps is gone?
Isn't there some recover apps?? Can't I still cancel it, since I haven't progressed into the wizard thing which showed up after that procedure?
guess not...
sorry but maybe you should make fresh start ....
maybe the apps arent gone, check it..
Ok.. probably I should make a fresh start. But I still have one question.
AFAIK, hard resetting has reset the phone memory. So, the data inside card is sill intact. So, could it happen, that if I install the same app again which was there before, it takes the settings for the same from card?
I think it maybe the possibility, even a vague one.
Just for the record, my phone was running on stock ROM. And I hadn't even rooted the device prior to it.
u have any other choices? i dont think so...
Thanks everyone for the replies.
So I decided to make a fresh start. Now that I have a chance to make a new start, I ensuring to take following steps so that no data loss occur from next time:
1. Syncing with google account already takes care of contacts, but extra precautions needs to be given when adding new contact. While adding new contact it should not be stored in SIM or Phone, rather the google account. Also apps have no reason to be lost since those can be reinstalled from market.
2. Using cloud apps, such as
-> Remember The Milk, which syncs tasks and notes to cloud
-> Google Plus, which syncs images with google account
-> SMS Backup+, which syncs Messages with GMail
If someone know how to backup scores of game apps, that would be highly useful!

Root it and install Titanium Backup, you can backup apps and app data and restore it all later on. It will save you a lot of trouble. We all make some mistakes at some point, sorry about your situation, but hey at least you can start with a clean slate now and on Android that's always great

Thanks for the kind words.
I have just began taking my baby steps into the world of Custom Rom. But before all that I need to root the device.
I am planning to follow this guide: www <dot> addictivetips <dot> com/mobile/how-to-root-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-lg-optimus-one/
But the comments there are really scaring me! I don't want to brick the device. But it's a chance that I HAVE to take.
Any idea what application could I use to successfully root my P500 which has the highest success rate. Following are the details about my phone:
Android version is: 2.2.2
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Built Number: FRG83
Software Version: V10e-MAR-28-2011.

Thanks buddy. I was successful in rooting my phone with gingerbreak! And then I took a titanium and a nandroid backup.
Now proceeding with removing the crapwares and maybe installing custom ROM.
Can I upgrade to gingerbread easily?

Yes. Flash a custom rom which uses gingerbread

Another easy tip which requires no data or wifi connection to backup contacts..
Export to sd card.. <it saved my life really..
I really think syncing contacts to Google account is the BEST way to keep it in safe place.
And after the Nandroid backup, I don't think, I can loose anything now!

[Q] major bug

Hello, s2 galllery just become unusable. How ? Well I connected device to the pc, copyed some photos to pc and then deleted some photos of s2 gallery from my computer with shift+delete. after that I disconnect device and guess what? Yes gallery and photo itself either lags alot even though its even less photos in the mobile than before or does not even start or says gallery is not respoding. Restarted device - did not help. deleted gallery data(cache) from applications section also did not help. I hope to find an answer without doing a factory reset.
for now it doesnt even start - says loading for ever

Did you do a safe disconnect of device?
Also, why does doing factory reset bother you? All you need to do is backup apps/appdata via Titanium Backup Pro, and SMS via SMS Backup, factory reset and restore backups and contacts will sync via google account. Its no big deal your not going to lose anything.
Also, why on earth call this a "major bug" when its completely obvious that it isnt otherwise it would be very common and well known about already. Plus you dont even bother to mention what ROM you're using, did you even check the roms thread? Or if stock did you contact Samsung?
I don't like factory resets either, I actually avoid them.

Well if everything works fine, Its not that your "avoiding it" its simply that you "dont need" to use it. So your original comment makes no sense.
Only time you need to wipe data is when moving to a new rom base/type, If you face issues or if you just want to do a clean install.

Avoiding it by not messing up with it. I could choose to go and play with things that will require a factory reset. I think I made that pretty clear, you just have to read it, think about it and read it again.
I'm good with semantics & semiotics, didn't I tell you that?
BTW, I flash with MO, it does the wipping itself.
Be good now.

And at what point did you make it "pretty clear" ?
Also what has Mobile Odin got to do with the price of fish? The wipe in question is in general if you have issues with a particular rom resulting in attempting to clear it by clearing non-default data/settings, Not about when wiping before/after first rom flash which is mostly for custom roms via CWM when its strongly advised unless moving up version of same rom. Since it ounds like you only use stock rom then you will very rarely come across teh need to use wipe.
Either way its not that your "avoiding" it, its simply that you have no "need" to use wipe in your circumstances because its not necessary.
Wiping data/factory reset is no big deal either way as the most important stuff can very easily be backed up and restored so if you have issues with system and cant resolve it then just backup everything and do wipe (and/or clean install of rom) and restore it back, simple.

Second quote TheATHEiST
Obviously you are talking to somebody who is very inexperienced with Android.
You can always download gallery apps from the play store. This would be along your lines of something you can do to fix it.
Also this is not a major bug!! Very very very minor at best!

[Q] HELP clipboard broke GT P7510 (SOLVED)

I use the clipboard constantly, but suddenly a couple days ago, when ever I click COPY (whether I'm in a memo, a browser, an ebook, ANYTHING), my tablet freezes, and I'm forced to reboot, to get it to work again. I tried a cleaning app to clear my cache, and it cleared cache in everything, but when I got to point of clearing the cache in the clipboard, that crashed the app. I contacted samsung tech support, and their only answer was to reset to factory default. Well, I'm a noob, and I had a very hard time rooting my tablet. 1. I don't want to undo that, and HOPE that I'm able to get it to root again. 2. I don't want to lose all my apps, photos, ebooks, videos, etc. The tech agent showed me how I could back up my videos and picture files to a computer. Well, I don't have a working computer right now. And if I did, isn't there a way, you can back up your apps, and app shortcuts and everything else, as well?
Even if I can back up everything, does anyone have any other ideas on how to maybe get my clipboard to work again, without starting over? I can't live without my copy and paste.
Thanks in advance.

Boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache ( dalvik is under advanced settings ) ... Reboot.. Should be good to go. If that doesn't work let me know.. I know another way but its a little more involved.. As far as backups go Titanium Backup is the best..

Boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache ( dalvik is under advanced settings ) ... Reboot.. Should be good to go. If that doesn't work let me know.. I know another way but its a little more involved.. As far as backups go Titanium Backup is the best..

Thanks so much for the reply. I wiped the cache in recovery mode, but I can't find any advanced setting when in recovery mode, to wipe the dalvik cache.

Thanks so much. I wiped the cache again, and also wiped the dalvik cache. Also did a full back-up while I was there. When it rebooted, it said Andriod was upgrading, and then it optimized all my applications. The bad news is, that the copy feature still doesn't work.

Did I mention I'm a newbie? LOL I guess this might all be over my head. Because I don't have icons for CWM or TWRP in my apps, nor do I know how to install them. I see them both in Rom Manager, but I don't have a clue how to use that very well either. When I first rooted my device, I even paid for something to get CWM to work (I think that was what I paid for), but never could get it to work. Kept getting some kind of permissions error. Sorry, I'm really not that tech stupid, but when it comes to android, I guess I am, because I seem to be clueless to all this. Been reading the forums for hours and hours trying to learn more, but it seems to confuse me more, the more I read. *sigh* I looked for CWM in the app store, but can't find it. I changed my backup in rom manager back and forth from cwm to twrp, but I still can't figure out HOW to open either of those. Thanks for the help. I apologize for not knowing how to use either of those. Is there a place I can download and install either of them outside the play store maybe?
Anyone know of any classes one can take for android tablets?

Do Not... I Repeat... Do Not Use ROM Manager For This Device.... Its cool.. I'll help ya out. Cwm/twrp are custom Recovery's for many devices. These custom Recovery's replace our stock Recovery's. They are not Apps.. To get to recovery you can hold down you're power button until the power off window pops up. Then select reboot.. Then select recovery.. Or it might say recovery on the first screen. If you don't have this option..go to developer options in settings and click, power menu or advanced reboot. Then check recovery to show up. If you're stock rooted you will need to power off the device... Then hold the power button and volume down button..( simultaneously ). Wait until the Android screen comes up..it will show the galaxy animation then go black..just keep holding and then a new screen will popup. Use the volume down key( only ) to switch between download mode( on the right ) and recovery ( on the left ). Select recovery by moving to it and the volume up button as the select button... This will take you too custom recovery if you have it( it wil say the version of cwm/twrp at the top of the page. If not than you have no custom rec. We will have to flash one...
YIKES!

So sorry, after I left my long reply, I was playing with rom manager, and I somehow got into the clockworkmod recovery mode. I have never seen that mode before, by rebooting into recovery mode the regular way. Anyway, I did what you said, and when I came back, I did NOT see your reply yet, so I edited my reply. LOL Then I saw that I had a notification, and when I clicked on it, I was able to see your reply. I'm going to see if I get into cwm by doing what you said above. Then I'll be back to see if you have any other ideas. Oh, and the good news is, even though I still can't copy, yet, now it doesn't freeze the whole tablet. It just froze the browser I was in, when I was testing to see if the copy feature would work. So, that might be a step in the right direction, at least.

You could use ROM manager to just boot to recovery, but nothing else.. I don't use it because I've had it freeze up my device.. As I've read others have had this happen as well... Once you get to rec..remember what version it is...this is important for many things..after you get a feel for it just wipe the cache and dalvik cache as I stated before and you should be good to go..if not.. I'll track down what apk clipboard is part of and we'll wipe that apk's cache..
cwn recovery mode works now
Oh cool, that worked now. Just as an FYI when I held down the power key, the only options I have are power off, airplane mode, or restart. I chose restart, and it just restarted. So I powered off, and then held down the power and volume down buttons. Before, when I did that, it just went to stock recovery. It changed after I played around in rom manager. It said there was an upgrade for cwm so I upgraded it. Then I went into recovery mode from there. But I just tried going there, the way you said, and that worked too, NOW. YAY! So, you don't think I should ever use rom manager then?
Oh, and it said it was upgrading my android, after I rebooted, but I still have android 4.04 so I'm not sure what it upgrade, exactly. LOL I've been wanting to upgrade to something better. (custom rom) But still trying to learn more, before I do that. So for right now, I just wish I could get my clipboard working again. Arghhh..
Thanks so much for all your help. I REALLY appreciate it. Oh, and also thanks for pointing out that it's NOT an app. That makes so much more sense now. :good:
didn't work

OK thanks, I won't use that anymore then. Especially, now that I can get to it, just by rebooting into it.
Anyway, when I said I did what you said, I should have been more clear. I did wipe the cache again, and also the dalvik cache. Clipboard still not working. But it's not as bad as it was. Before when I clicked on copy, it would freeze the whole tablet. Now it just freezes whatever app I'm in. Also, before I stopped getting the paste button. Now it shows up again, but if I use it, then it also freezes the app. So, I guess we're making progress, huh?

OK.. I've read up on this issue and it seems a factory reset is the only way to fix it. But first I would wipe the browser data and cache to see if that works. If not.. You will need to backup you're apps/with data using titanium backup and also make a backup in recovery.. Then do the wipe data in recovery and reboot. You will loose anything not saved....
darn

Oh crap, I was hoping I could avoid that. So, even if I do a back-up using tatanium, does that mean I have to download all the apps again, or can I just restore a back-up and get everything back again? I have so many apps, I'd hate to have to download them all again. Also, it took me forever to get this thing rooted. Ugh...

Titanium will back up all you're apps and their data...awesome right.. Don't forget to make a nandroid back up in recovery...This is something you should always have.. Once you get this fixed..you can use you're file manager to delete the nandroid and then go make another one.. This way if this happens again you can just restore you're nandroid from recovery..All you would have to do after that would be to add the apps you download in the future.. When you make a nandroid back up in recovery.. You can only restore it with the same recovery you used to make it..just a heads up. And for restoring the apps in the future...just always have a current titanium back up.. You get all this...lol I know it sounds redundant.. But this is really easy. Just sounds involved. If you need a step by step, just ask and I'll whip one up..
Cool

Oh cool, as long as I can get it all back, then I'm OK with doing a factory reset. When I first spoke to a Samsung tech support agent, he said I would have to download all the apps again. Ugh...
And YES PLEASE, a step by step would be most appreciated, because I've never backed up and restored anything on Android before. I have no idea what I'm doing on this thing YET. LOL But hey, once I get that mastered, maybe I can even try and figure out how to upgrade to a custom ROM.... MAYBE! LOL
Thank you again, for all your help. I really appreciate it.

OK.. First let's make a nandroid backup( usually refered to as a nan/nano/nandroid )..
1..First..Make sure you're phone has a 50 or more percent charge..
2..Now..boot into recovery..
3..Now scroll down to ( backup/restore ) and pick it
4..Now pick ( backup ) and let it do its thing...This can take a bit of time depending on the recovery and the amount of data/apps being backed up.
Once this is done.. Reboot..how easy was that..
OK.. Now let's make a titanium back up..
1..Go to play store and install titanium backup. ( the paid version is worth the money ) But the free version will work.
2..Open Titanium Backup
3..Give it root permission
4..Now pick backup/restore in header
5..Now pick the check mark in top right corner
6..Under the heading..backup. Pick backup all user apps.. Push the check mark on next page. Let it do its thing...
How easy was that... You could also backup apps and system data... Just remember when restoring a titanium backup, that if the backup has system data in it... it will not work right on a different ROM...( when you start flashing ROMs ) Let me know how it goes..

OK thank you. I did already do a full back-up when I wiped the cache. So I just have to do the Titanium backup, now. I think I'll probably get the paid version, if you say it's worth it. Battery is almost dead though, so I'll need to let it charge first. Seems easy enough, but where I get confused, is how do I restore everything, once I do a factory reset? Won't the reset erase titanium and all the backup files along with everything else? Oh, and will the restore also put all my bookmarks back in my browsers, too? Or will I lose all my bookmarks?

The restore will put everything back, but you want to make one after the factory reset and you titanium backup restore.( this one will be a safe one..no bugs ) if you need to wipe again.. You will have to re-download titanium backup or do like I do and make a copy of the apk and keep it on you're sdcard( internal for me..that way I can always get to it ) I use ex file explorer to make apk backups.. I actually use it for all my file manager needs on all my devices..

So, when I wipe it all out, this time, I will then need to go download titanium again, then do the restore? And my restore file will STILL be there, even though I wiped it all out? That's where I'm confused. It seems as though, factory reset will erase my restore file TOO! Or am I missing something?
Oh, and I have ES File Explorer, is ex file explorer better? Or, is that the same thing? LOL

Lol..no its es....long day.. When you do the wipe.you are just going to pick wipe data/factory reset..it will not touch you're sdcard..( internal or external ).. Don't go formatting anything.... Just pick wipe data/factory reset off the first page of you're custom recovery..

Oh, OK I get it now. I guess I was thinking it would wipe the sdcard TOO! LOL Sorry for being so clueless. You taught me a LOT today. And I really appreciate it. So, I guess that titanium put's it's backups on the sdcard, as well, then. I went into ES File Explorer to try and put titanium apk on SD card but I couldn't figure out how to do that, so I'll just re-download that, after I wipe it out. LOL Letting the battery charge, and then I'll be back later to let you know how it went.

A few problems after installing Cyanogenmod 11

Hello.
Today I decided that I should upgrade my phone and move to Cyanogenmod 11.
So I downloaded everything, followed every step, made a backup with Titanium Backup, and upgraded.
With (almost) no problems, my phone booted with Cyanogenmod.
At first, everything went smooth, I put all my stuff back in the memory while I sit back and enjoy the speed.
But then everything went bad. I found out all my contacts are gone, all my photos are gone, all of my songs are gone, the home button doesn't work, I opened Nova Launcher and suddenly the lockscreen has been disabled.
I can't close apps because the home button doesn't work. The button on the upper left on the notification center doesn't work (although it worked at first), I don't even get notifications.
There is no physical problem with the home button. When the phone is locked, I press the home button and it wakes it up, but it does nothing besides that.
I also can't access my Contacts app, I need to open the Phone app and access them through there.
Also– I can't receive any calls. It seems the phone knows a call has been made, but it sends the caller straight to voice mail and I need to check the missing calls to see if anybody called.
If it helps, whenever I boot the phone there's a tiny exclamation mark on the top left.
Please help.
Well don't know what the problem is but seems like you are running out of RAM... I personally didn't had any problem with any aosp ROM be it cm11 or omni...
Try flashing it again and flash it clean that is do a factory reset then wipe system, preload, cache, dalvik cache..and then install it...
Also avoid using art as your runtime as it may be the culprit...

I doubt it's about the RAM, I never had any problems with it, and I clean it regularly.
I will try to flash it again, but I try to back my things up, and instead of backing up only the user apps (107) Titanium Backup backs up about 321 files, which I think means it backs up also the System stuff.
What do you mean by "avoid using art as your runtime"?
EDIT: I flashed the ROM again, and everything works fine. But before I bring all of my stuff back through Titanium Backup, I need to be sure: What does grey apps with cross line on them means? Because I don't want to screw up my phone again...

The apps which are crossed are not installed in your device...avoid the ones which are colored as these are the apps from your previous system which must have been backed up by titanium backup...dont restore them..just go in the tab which says restore missing apps with data..the first one in the restore section..it contains all your user apps with their data backed up..
although cm thread says that they dont support the use of titanium or restoring your data...
so i also restore those apps for which data is always necessary like games...it us a little cumbersome but ya thats the way to go for better experience...

Okay so I restored all of my apps, some info is missing but that's fine. Just a small problem– Slow charging. The battery take AGES to charge and the percents goes down if I use the phone while charging.
Suggestions?

Yes it was. The charging time changed only after flashing to CM.
The usb cable is not the problem, I tried 2 USB and one charger, the charging remains the same.
