I always flash the latest ROM version, and I use Microsoft MyPhone, which works great except it does not back up email account settings. So every time I flash a updated version of the ROM, I have to setup all my email accounts again. Anyone know a way to backup the email account settings, so I do not have to do this.

Hi,
I came across this a while back on the Energy ROM thread(Q&A part).
Works like a charm(I have 2 accounts, one Exchange and my gmail), but the ROM that you Flash must be UC capable. The xml files configs the email accounts on 1st boot.
Im not allowed to post links yet(first post ever) so just copy & paste the address below, or go look in the Energy ROM thread.

Hope this helps.

I use makisu,(free registration required) which is a slimmed down version of sashimi.
Input all your email account setup details into it (and wifi settings if you want) it generates an xml file, which when you next hard reset, you install makisu(i have it in my autoinstal folder), and use it to 'provision' (install) the settings from the file.

I use Sashimi for this, and also to re-install all my custom cabs after a ROM flash. Also, Sashimi can restore registry settings (e.g. configuration values of programs) and simply copy files (e.g. settings files, certificates ...). It is a little cumbersome to understand the concept, but I found that very helpful.
Hey,
Im on the new ICS stock rom (with root) and using the stock email application to sync my hotmail account.
On the previous rom (2.3.4 gingerbread i beleive) when i deleted an email or marked it as read, it would update on the server to the same state. However now, it doesnt update on the server. If i mark an email as read or delete it (including deleting it from the trash) on my phone, it always stays as unread in my inbox when i log into hotmail online
Anyone know why this might be happening and how to fix it
Thanks
i tried 2 ics roms, a stock unbranded LPQ and 3uks LPQ branded. the unbranded rom had email 1.0 which had the option to delete mails from the server and no push.
the 3uk rom had upgraded email to 4.0 which uses push but.the option to delete mail on the server is gone.
maybe you can downgrade the email app

Hey, thanks for your reply.
When I was using gingerbread the e-mail client was able to do both... Push and server sync. is there any reason they've taken this feature (server sync) out now? Its so frustrating!
Is there anyway I'm able to get and load the old gingerbread apk onto my current rom?
As my post count is below 10, I cannot post this in the thread for SHOstock2.
First, great ROM. Thank you for all of the work you have put into it thus far. However, like a few people in the developers thread, I cannot get the email.apk to function properly when attempting to setup a POP3 account. I have verified the permissions in the APK, all looks good. I am able to open the app and input my email address and password, but Next has no functionality.
I tried with RC 3 and RC 4, both with the same error. I went so far as to flash back to stock and format the USB and remove my SD Card. Next I rooted and applied CWM. Finally, I flashed RC 4 and have the same issue still.
Email does work while back in stock. Any help would be appreciated.

I'll do that, i promise. Just waiting for someone to aswer my question hehe
I will look in to that and get back to you.
Though, I must say that I am not sure it is a good idea with this ROM.
Did you try logging in to your motoblur account online and look for the contacts?

First, thanks for the great rom...i keep staring my atrix, i'm love with it again hehe
And yes, i tried, but i can only access the images and songs that i had sync. I don't really want to use blur account, i will only activate it, export my contacts, delete the blur account (I saw a thread here teaching to delete the blur account from the phone, i 'll give it a shot) and delete the blur apps again...will this be a problem?
These are my suggestions in the order of most to least desirable (in my opinion):
Before performing any option create a backup.
1) Restore a GB backup and get your contacts that way. If I remember correctly, the contacts can be exported as a .csv file.
2) If you don't have a GB backup, Install a GB fruit cake and do the above.
3) Using ICSROM. This might not even work. I have not even tried to create a Blur account with any of the the new Roms.
a) Reinstall BlurContactsSync.apk and BlurUpdater.apk (see link on ICSROM OP).
b) Use a root level file explorer to edit /system/etc/motorola/com.motorola.blur.service.blur/defaults.xml. Change "master-sdc1.svcmot.com" to "master-blur.svcmot.com". Save edits then exit.
c) Wipe data in recovery, reboot
d) Create Blur account and get your contacts
e) Restore backup.
It might not work because you may need to add an additional apk that I can't think of right now, or beucase it just won't work. You might hve to play with it a little.
I tried to activate the account in this ICSROM, and guess what? you were right! It's not possible: I tried the whole afternoon, instaling a bunch of apks that had moto-something is theirs name. So i installed a GB i had here, got my contacts and exported them as csv.
Thanks again!!
I've installed Xperiance Lite v2.0 and it's absolutely awesome. However it seems to be missing the stock email app for exchange. I've noticed it in other ROMs as well. Does anyone know where I can find a working file to flash to restore it? I've tried one for another phone and while it did load, it kept timing out when trying to connect.
Why need the stock email? U have gmail ( download it)
Stock email requires u enter every setting like whether it is pop3 or imap type account etc rubbish
If u have ftf u can extract it from there

I use an exchange server for my work mail, so I need it for that.
Thanks for the advice though, I'll see if I can extract the appropriate files from the ftf.
Righto-ho then.
I've extracted this from a working ROM and tested it successfully on my phone (Xperia U). It's the first time I've done this, but it's pretty straight forward and seems to have worked fine.
I won't be held responsible if it kills baby seals or something...
Just flash via CWM
I did find that I had to set up the account in "Accounts & Sync" rather than opening the mail app, but once set up it's fine.
Great work exactly what I was looking for
