[Q] Flashed rom, and lost my local language as "writing" language, how to restore?
I just flashed a new rom to my phone, and despite what the person told me, the rom actually did not "entirely" work in my country. It works in general, and I can select either English language or my native language on the phone and the software works otherwise fine.
But what went wrong is that my native language's "writing" language got lost in this transition. Before I could switch between the 2 of them, but after i upgraded the language simply dissappeared off my list of choices.
I am aware I "might" be able to fix it by "simply" downloading another keyboard from the market, but I would consider that a workaround rather then a proper fix.
So is there some way for me to get my native language back on the list, or am I just SOL on that account?.
Not sure if this is the correct section for asking this but here we go.
I have SGS2 i9100 with 4.0.3 FOP XXLPQ and CF-Root (CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-PROPER-v5.4-CWM5).
Since some days ago I dont get any real-time (push) notification form any app (Gmail, WhatsApp, Apalabrados, ...). Also I can't connect to Gtalk.
I tried to delete apps data and accounts from settings > accounts and re-add them and has no effect...
At this moment I'm doing a backup with Titanium Backup and I'm going to wipe the phone but I feel that this is going to has no effect so can anyone help me?
Hello
Since I have upgraded my S2 from GB v2.3.5 to ICS v4.0.4 stock ROM and rooted it, I have a problem with the calendar.
I'm using only the Android calendar (My calendar), not Google's one.
I create a new appointment --> OK
I try to modify it but I can't because the Edit choice is not available in the menu.
I noticed that :
- previously created entries are not affected,
- newly created entries using Outlook and synced with Kies are also not affected.
Those non affected entries can only be modified once, the Modify option disappears after first modification.
I've tried to change all the (few) options but without any success.
Could it be a permission's issue ? How to fix it ?
If you have any ideas, they will be much appreciated.

I would suggest looking into two things:
1/ Make sure the version of the calendar app you're using is the most updated one from the market. If not - try updating it and see if that helps
2/ You can try clearing data (just in case in your rom upgrade process something got confused in the data). You do that by going into settings > applications > all (or downloaded - it doesn't matter) > your calendar app > clear data. Reboot the phone and try again.
I hope it works
Solved !!!
I found the solution.
I cleared the data for the app named "Calendar storage" (caution, not "Calendar") and then every new entry in the calendar can be edited now, even after several modifications.
Of course, this clears all the entries you have in your local calendar.
So a backup before is necessary (Kies export or Kies sync with Outlook) to be able to restore it after and get your calendar data back.
Thanks to all.
Hope it will help those who are stuck like I was.
The thread status can be put to SOLVED and then be closed.
Same issue when upgrading from ICS to JB
Same issue when upgrading from ICS to JB : unable to edit any existing calendar entry.
So same solution with this little difference : as Calendar and Tasks have been merged into one app named "S Calendar", clearing data will act on both types.
So to recover data, it is necessary to clear Kies sync logs for both and then sync them again.
Hi,
I discovered a strange (or maybe not so strange) behavior on my S3 (I-9300) today:
As I restart my phone and wait for it to boot before I enter my PIN to unlock my SIM card, the language gets changed to German (Switzerland).
Now I am not sure where that comes from. Fact is, I bought this phone in Switzerland, and I have a Swiss phone provider (Lebara) that uses a Swiss network operator (Sunrise). My phone number is therefore also Swiss. However, I live in the French speaking region of Switzerland (I actually live in France about 200 yards away from the border), but not in the German speaking part.
Here is the funny part and also the reason why I only found out today (and this makes it hard for me to troubleshoot it): If I enter my PIN as soon as I practically can (i.e. I do not give my phone the time to fully boot, which is what I always did until today) the language setting is conserved (i.e. it sticks to English, which is my system preference).
Also, if I do not enter my PIN at all and I stay on the lock screen, the language also stays English. Once I enter it though, it switches to German like 2 seconds later.
Could it be possible that my language setting is somehow tied to:
my provider / phone number / network operator?
my location (I have location completely disabled btw) ?
my IMEI or some other device related information?
Has anybody experienced something similar?
I am using Android Revolution HD 29.0 btw...
Any comment is highly appreciated.Thanks!
Only initial language is dependant on your CSC and sim card, once changed it will stay. Reflash your rom or go back to stock to test.

Ok, here is what happened:
I observed this behavior after updating some of my apps via Google Play yesterday. So I suspect one of these updates triggered this odd behavior.
To further troubleshoot this, I turned on Flight Mode yesterday after booting my phone (and having changed the language back to English). As I turned off Flight Mode again, without rebooting the phone, the language switched back to German again.
This made me assume that it must somehow be related to GSM/my network operator. I do not select my network operator automatically, but I choose it manually (since I live close to the border and want to avoid roaming fees). So I went back into settings and selected my network operator manually again.
This resolved the issue. Language setting no longer gets reset after reboot.
Hope this helps someone who one day might face the same issue.
Thanks

The only app we have in common is SuperSU. Try setting your network operator again (Settings > More Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Operators)
Let me know if it does not work.
Thanks

I'm running a custom rom on a samsung Galaxy tab plus and have been having exactly the same issue, originally it seemed triggered for me by turning of my bluetooth connection. I ended up reinstalling the rom and having thing work right step by step until google play did its updates which caused my language to reset to Russian.. After finding this thread and realizing we all have the same app in common " Super user"
This raised my attention where I went into the superuser app, I un installed Superuser and re installed a different superuser from Google play, this seems to have solved the issue, and my language is now not reset on reboot, hope this helps someone.
I tried to uninstall supersu and probl is fixd, but I need root and installed again supersu and problem no exists, pls help to solve.
Same thing is happening to me on my rooted touchwiz phone, it also has SuperSU installed and was recently updated.
It's running 4.1.2 and every other reboot it sets to english (UK) all by itself (that's it's default region)
So many system restores/wipes/restores over the last two days and thought it was just I that was getting it at first
So it happened again the other day. It is a SuperSU issues which has been addressed with the latest release.
Hi,
I had the same problem with Galaxy S III purchased from UK, flashed Czech version of stock rom (rooted) and czech SIM card. The language reverted from English to Czech after every restart. (Google Play store also asks me for another confirmation of the terms and Google voice typing is turned on after restart, although it may not be related to the problem.)
Updating SuperSU from Play store didn't help. Manually choosing my operator solved it (Settings > More Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Operators).
Still no solution!
Hi all,
OK, I notice that this thread is pretty old but still without a solution. Sadly I am not offering one, only concurring that my phone, not rooted, has the same problem. It is an Austrian sim card (3 network, German language as standard) and reverts to German with every on-off, restart or flight mode. Hopefully by now someone has solved this niggle as it appears to have been around for quite some time.
After trying factory reset and setting all apps, the phone settings and Apex to English without success, my assumption is that the sim card is to blame as I had an Austrian 3 sim in my last phone and had no problems at all.
BTW I have a new sim now (same provider and phone number) to unlock the NFC capabilities of the new phone.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated, a solution even more so!
Thanks
Dear all,
I would like to know how we could determine which settings was configured when installing an Android application.
For example, when I installed an application, it will ask about language and country when running that app first time.
After that, I uninstalled that app, clear cache and all the folder relating to it and try to install it again, it didn't ask about the language and country anymore.
I did the test (restore and erase all data of my mobile) and install again, it will ask about country and language for that app.
So I assume that it configured something somewhere.
I would like to know how I could track it.
Thank you very much,
