if you replace this apk with the one in your system/app folder, it will work without you having to open the apk and install it. just make sure you back up your orginal email.apk as this one has one problem.
it needs to be resized to fit our phone, we are missing the refresh button at the bottom of the app and it also cuts off the bottom of emails.
what im asking is, can someone resize the dimension of the apk to fit our phone ?
Merci beaucoup monsieur!
Is there anyone that can work on this I tried using the one from sgs tools but it wouldn't load email at all looks nice though using nero v3

"Here is a modified Email apk that shows the bottom of the email app that has been cut of when installed on non Galaxy Tab phones. The bottom of this app is where you can manually sync your mail and a menu lets you do multiple delete.
(This has to be pushed to system/app or put there with Root Explorer, it is not an installable apk)

I've been using the one by Smoothone since the day after he posted it and am having no problems retrieving my emails from my Google and Yahoo accounts. I'm using Nero V3.
After you push the apk to system\app go to your phone settings, applications, manage applications and find your email app and clear your data and cache. This had solved many issues for lots of users.

WIN.
I'm using the app from Smoothone, the feature set is great and it doesn't enforce my organizations exchange security policy, so I can use it without having to set it to the stupid numeric lock screen, or allow a remote administrator to wipe the phone.

Thanks for finding this. I tried this when it was first posted awhile back and liked it except the size issue. Glad someone fixed it for us. Again thanks for finding.

Open Root explorer
Navigate to system/app
Scroll down to email.apk and change to email.bak (saves apk for later, should you want to revert back) to do that just long press and use 'rename'.
Find the email.apk file that you downloaded, long press it, and then either 'move' it or 'cut' or 'copy' it and 'paste' it back into system/app
Alternatively, I like to copy the original .apk and paste the copy in a created folder called stock ROM apps. Then just move the new .apk over the original one in the system/app file. No need to change the names and you can always go back by copy pasting the old one over the top of the new one.
Hope this helps
I've pushed it, but I can't get it to load my inbox. Deleted the files in App manager, but it still doesn't do anything to load the mails. It keeps saying that it's loading, but never finishes. I was able to send a message to my gmail account with it, but I was not able to retrieve one to the inbox that I returned in reply. The outbox works. The inbox is not.
Any suggestions?
P.S.
How about a black version instead of the cartoony blue that Samsung's got running through TouchWiz?
thanks Much appreciated MonteCristo22

Assuming you copied the email.apk to the root of your internal. Open root explorer. Find the folder called 'sdcard' that will be your internal. Click on that and find the new email.apk. Sometimes there will be a duplicate with a ._ in front of it. It isn't that one. It will just says email.apk and have a little android next to it. Long press on that icon and use the move command.
Then use the back button to go to the previous screen and you should see a folder named 'system'. Tap that file. The second file on the next screen is the app file. Click that. Now at the bottom of the screen there should be a button that says 'paste'. That button became active when you used the 'move' command. Press the paste button and it will move the new email.apk to that folder.

Help - need stock email.apk for Galaxy S
Please help.
I need the stock email.apk for Samsung Galaxy S 2.3.4.
I replased my and didnt save the original.
I installed Nero 4.1 but I completly hate the stock email app. The orange glow at the top is terrible looking. I tried the Galaxy Tab email app that was ported to the correct size, but I was getting connection issues shortly after installing it and no new emails would come in (loved the look though).
I found this Gingerbread email.apk on xda (does have exchange security code taken out) and used root explorer to transfer it to System /App. I then cleared the email data from applications and setup my company's exchange account. This email app looks so much better than stock and completly matches the Gingerbread theme. I dont know why this isnt used as the stock email app for new builds. So far this is working without any issues. Just thought I should share.
I have attached screenshots but have blocked out any email addresses and last names of the emails.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775007
Update: Installed Axura 2.2.6.0, Gingerbread 2.3 email app seems to be working on this build also.
Update: I have attached the stock Nero email.apk in case any body has issues and needs to revert back.

The attached email.apk in the link you reference was accidentally deleted per the OP - can you re-post it here or there?
I downloaded the Email.apk and used Astro to install it. It failed and then I
uninstalled 2.2 and then tried again and this time it says application not
installed. Do I have to use Root Explorer or ADB to push it? I have used
Astro to install a few apps such as market and did not get any problem.
In addition, the file size, data size and total size are all shown as 0. But the
downloaded apk is indeed 1.7m in size.
update: Used root explorer to paste the app to /system/app and it worked.

Go to System/App using root explorer and rename the email.apk to email.apk.old. Then copy the Gingerbread email.apk to system/app. You will then need to go to settings/application/manage applications and clear the data on Email. Next time when you launch the email app it will ask you to input all your info and your done. This isnt a apk that you install. It has to be pushed to the system/app folder using root explorer.

I had installed Gingerbread Email.apk a while ago. However, the HTML hyper links inside email are not clickable. Sometime, I receive email messages which have hyper link. It was a pain not able to click on the link directly inside the mail. I like Galaxy Tab modified email better then stock version from Froyo, or Gingerbread.
That's so weird because I can click on hyperlinks that are in my emails.

I put chrome in system/app in my rom and I got problem to start chrome.
it says missing critical functionality.
I get FC with go keyboard when putting it in system/app.
Everything goes find after I put them in data/app.
what is the problem? anyone could help me to explain it? Thanks.
A little more info would be nice, what phone are you using and what version of Android. Also be aware that Google frowns upon distributing any Gapps in ROMs or any Google apps not included in AOSP such as Chrome. They went after the CM team for this and thats why Gapps are now separate from ROMs.

I believe there are lib files (& possibly other assets) that are needed to push Chrome as a system app.
No. I put the google chrome in the system/app then it doesn't work.
But if I put in the data/app as user application, it works fine.
I am using htc sensation revolution HD ROM. I push the chrome to the system/app.
Probably as spunker88 pointed out, google added some check to see
whether chrome becomes a system/app or not. If it is, it give warning
and quit.
If this is the case, what could be the reason of go keyboard FC?

anyone has ideas?
Hi Guys
I just got my hand's over the Droid DNA.
trying to port OPB stuff and make it look dashing
ok here i pulled the dialer from his them and it works like a charm.
do try it.
all you got to do is, with the help of Root Explorer move your current phone.apk and dialer.apk to a safe location incase if you want to revert back
copy the attached phone.apk and dialer.apk to your phone, i guess you already know where is the location. if not
system/apk
after replacing these two apk's set permission as rw-r--r-- and reboot.
and there you got your new dialer. if it says network error just go to mobile network and search for the network only for the first time. you don't even have to do that. simply wait for some time and a msg will pop up saying use gsm mode. say ok. and there you go all is well.
so guys enjoy! i hope One Page Book do not mind using his work. he is generous! a great guy!
If like me you unlik the original LG g4 dialer.
You can use this one from nexus original Google dialer 1.1
Unzip fil and use root explorer for copy it ( root/system/priv-app)
644 after moving it into its proper folder. Do this either through your file manager app or via a shell
Reboot
And your new icon will be on the drawer.

It works fine what was missed is that in order to get it working you need to set the proper permissions on folder and apk. Thing is that there's no way to make Google dialer the default phone app. And there's a dual pop-up when receiving calls as well as both Google dialer and LG phone in call ui pops up when dialing and ending calls.

Tried that with Titanium, you cannot freeze the default dialer/in call UI, doing so will cause you to no be able to answer an incoming call. Call is the app responsible for popping up the LG incall UI, once you freeze that when you receive a call the phone will ring but you will have no way of answering the call. Also freezing the default phone you lose the ability to view contacts.
there has to be a file somewhere that is pointing Android to which app to use for answering calls.
I just used this on my G2 and it works, thanks!
I couldn't get this to work using the folders which unzipped from the file.
I finally did get it to work by copying the apk directly into the priv-app folder, and giving it the permissions suggested above.
Working great.
