Hey guys I'm just curious, anywhere you look it says the Fascinate has 512mb ROM and I'm confused because if you look at the picture below it says the Droid 2 has 8gb of ROM which is just the internal memory... so in theory wouldn't the Fascinate have 2gb of ROM not 512mb? Also if it does have 512mb how will this affect development for roms and such?

It will have nothing to do with it. It actually has 2gb of rom. I went n the store to play with one a.d it has 2gb of space that u can put apps on. Even if it did have that it wouldn't matter, that's what the n1, dinc, several others have, the original droid had 256, and u could say there has been a ROM or 2 made for it. No worries.

Hello,
I am curious, I have looked around but haven't really found any good or helpful information in regards to this. Although the Xperia X10 has 384mb of system ram. If I move a bunch of apps using Link2sd and free up so much space, is there anyway to increase the 384mb limit, say add another 128mb to make it 512mb thus enhancing the device?
or am i out of town on this one?
buddy our first focus should be to atleast use full 384 mb...
however we are right now only using just 256 mb of the ram.....
if you really want to use more, flash data2sd.zip through xrecovery. but, know that it is slower :S just try using a different ROM, Jerpelea's cm7 is very fast and snappy, a bit buggy for now, but try some other ones, you might find one you like

Wait what?
Data2sd makes your phone slower?!?!

Just got a new Thunderbolt yesterday. Downgraded, S-off and rooted as soon as I got it home. Trying to figure out which ROM I would like to use and figured my best bet would be to use Boot Manager to be able to multi-boot different ROMs. My thinking is to use the smallest ROM as the primary to free up as much memory in the phone as I can.
If my logic is flawed, please explain to me why.
I came from an EVO 4G that I had been running CM7 on for the last 8 months or so, after having tried many other ROMs.
Dont know about footprint size, but shiftsense is fast with amazimg batt life using imo lean kernel

my 4ext recovery told me that I my system takes up 750 mb out of ~900. what does this mean? isnt this too big? also, what is rom grj22? is that the stock rom for GB? Does the fact that its a big system slow down my phone, I have noticed it was slow after i downgraded from ics. is there a way to get a rom with a system taking up less space?

The roms come compressed in a zip format, typically from 250 mb - 550 mb , you are ok with the space remaining as you can either remove aps or move them to your sdcard, now in regards to speed, the size of the Rom has no determination on how fast the rom is, it has more to do with the rom itself, kernel and extra apk installed

How is my amount of space ok? Isn't the rom taking up 750mb of space? Also, what is Rom grj22? Is that the stock rom?

Idk about the stock Rom size but typically asop Roms are on the much slimmer side and have very little to them... If you want stock check out dev forums to find a slim down stock

We can see MIUI V5 for 20 devices will be released recently.
We also have scritch007's cm10 for x10,and even HD2 and Defy will get miui v5.
I like miui v5,so is their any developers will make miui v5 rom for x10i
Sorry for bad English,Thanks!
Thumbs up
Yeah, it would be awesome. :good:
Miui v5 is really slow on 512 mb ram phones... I can't imagine what it is going to be liike on the x10

Please don't joke. Take a look at RAM usage in attachment. X10 would never run this os smooth

It is problem with optimization on your phone. If I use CM on Xperia S sometimes get 500Mb used And on same CM on X10 used for example 180Mb
Some times somebody say, that we never get ICS, and now?
I think you're wrong, and no I'm not joking.
If SD swap was used, ram problem might be a bit better

I sold my x10 on January so I don't know how the ics works on this phone right now, but it is probably lagging as hell. Of course some useless apps could be removed and it would make the ROM faster but over 300mb of ram is still too less. It could boot up but You weren't able to use it everyday anyway.

I'm just wondering if there is any way to expand the amount of RAM on my Galaxy Ace 2. I have Jelly Bean installed

Not physically, but you can go from round 400mb ram to 600 if you install JB correctly. There are pro's and con's of this though from reading around the place.
Ps. There is a Q & A section for a reason.
RAM Swap
I am not sure, but i guess u can use ram swap to do this. Google it!
AFAIK we have no kernel that supports SWAP at the moment.
BTW I find SWAP unnecessary since we have a lots of RAM.
dont know about RAM, but for Swap, i use it

D-kernel should be able to... And mind you, you are using the L variant if im not wrong. Who says its not possible. And we have enough ram for normal usage. But gaming? You'll need at least a Gig of ram...

Yep, my mistake, D-Kernel supports SWAP. But in my opinion SWAP doesn't bring any noticeable improvement. You would need a high class SD card an it will always be slower than RAM.
And I don't think that phones in general are good for gaming. But that's just my opinion.
