[Q] Folder shortcut for quick links? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to put a folder shortcut in the quick links menu such as games folder or office mobile? It would be a lot more convenient to have just the folder instead of each game put up and would save space. I am using cookies home tab btw if that is important at all. I tried searching and didn't come up with anything useful.thanks for the help.

In the past I have tray to make a shortcut of a folder; so that I can ad it into the Today Screen; unfortunately I got a Error who mention it wasn't signed.
Thil here I didn't find a solution. I hope someone-els can help you out if there is a way/solution.

i too have never had any luck..
quickly read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=576232
haven't given it a go...care to read and see if it may work?
cheers.

you will need resco explorer for my solution.
1. navigate to the folder you want to add to quicklinks
2. long press on that folder to get a popup
3. select "send to" in the popup
4.at the bottom of the menu you will see "startmenu as a shortcut" choose that
5. go back to sense starting page and press "menu" on the lower right side
6. choose "edit quicklinks"
you will now see that the folder you want to add is already there
hope that helped...

I have the softkey changer but I can't seem to find a link to sms. All I can find is tmail or something like that but thats leads to the messaging program. If anyone can give the exact location of the sms lnk that would be awesome.
You need to create a shortcut named SMS.lnk (or whatever you want to name it) with the following info inside of it:
24#\Windows\tmail.exe -service "SMS"
Copy this to your \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder. It will then show up as an option in the softkey app.
I realize that not everyone knows how to create a shortcut file, so I attached one for your convenience. You can unzip it and copy it to the \Windows\Start Menu\Programs folder on your phone.

[Q] How to remove a dead shortcut?

Hello,
I've removed some programs from my Rose, but dead shortcuts were leaved...
How can I remove them?
Thanks.
Start
Open File Manager or File Explorer :: which ever one you have
\Windows\
\Windows\Start Menu\
Might also be \Windows\Start Menu\Programs
Find the dead shortcut(s) [*.lnk]
Highlight it/them {using the D-Pad, obviously}
Press the Right-Softkey
Select 'File'
Scroll down to 'Delete'
Press OK
Verify
Viola!
I believe the above may vary per device and WinMo OS version. I verified these steps with a Motorola Q9c {WinMo 6.1 STD}

They will remove themselves. Just open other shortcuts and you will see the undelete-able one drop off.

This won't remove them from the Start Menu, itself.. only from the 'Recent Programs' list.
So I guess it depends on what the situation is. If the uninstalls didn't complete successfully, the shortcuts may have been left behind, though that is highly unlikely.
So @ranxy: If the dead shortcuts you're talking about are in your Recent Programs list, ritch123 is correct. Opening other programs will help knock the dead-shortcuts off the list, but if there are dead shortcuts in your Start Menu, follow my steps above.
It workz! XD
It works! Thank you!!

How did you solve it???
I have the exact problem and can't find the place to delete quicklinks.
[also, I'm trying to remove stuff like Facebook, Stocks and Twitter from the taskbar].
If its a free link then follows the steps above......
if its in the grid then open the cht menu and select edit quicklinks...
By taskbar Im assuming you mean the slider....??
Go to your settings tab, select "personalise" then "home screen tabs"
Hi,
Sorry to bring this old thread up again.
Recenlty having problem on removing quicklink icon (on Energy ROM). Can't figure out how to delete one of the icon (shortcut) on quicklink page.
Just as schp98ls1b4c mentioned:
"if i click cht editor i get this Quick Links,Free Links,Pages and levels,softkeys,lockscreen,widget settings,applications,miscellaneous".
I can't find the menu as "CHTeditor, edit home screen, tap and hold on the quicklink...".
And also if I click on the Menu button at Home, it came out with menu of Set Wallpaper, CHTEditor, Edit Quick Links, Edit Home Layout, Weather demo.
If I select "Edit Quick Links", I can only move the icon around, but no way to delete it.
If I select Edit Home Layout -> Level 2 - Quick Links, I can only change the layout of the quicklink. If I tap and hold, a menu pop-up with Remove & other option. If I choose Remove here, it will actually remove the whole Quicklink Widget but not one of the icon there.
Anyone can help?
Found the solution already.
Actually is using Menu button at Home -> Edit Quick Links, then just tap the quicklink item once. The tapped item will be marked to be deleted after this. Previously keep using tap and hold, no wonder can't get the delete function.

[Q] How to make a folder?

On a rooted NT with Go Launcher, is there a way to make a folder? (I'm giving this to my wife as an Xmas gift...want to put all games in one folder and put on homescreen). When i 'long press' homescreen and select 'folder,' nothing happens. Is there a way to fix this...some kind of setting i need to know about or something?
Thanks,
Tommy
In your app tray, long press on an app you wish to place in a folder and slide it over another app you want in the folder. A folder will be created with both those apps. Add any other apps in the same fashion. Then long press on the folder and move it to the desktop. Once there you can edit it's label by long pressing the folder.

Okay the only way to make a folder with rooted NT and Go Launcher seems to be by putting it in the dock...i added a folder there, selected the apps i want in the folder and then moved it to the homescreen and it was visible. Every other method i've tried, the folder doesn't actually mount itself to the homescreen.

Touchwiz folders in drawer

This is most likely the simplest thing in the word but i'm not figuring out. It's really easy to create a folder in the drawer in touchwiz and even rename it. But how the hell do i add apps to that folder? I don't mean in homescreen, i mean in the app drawer..
Thanks!
Just drag and drop into folder.
Keep pressed the icon and move over the folder.
Sorry man, that doesn't work or I am doing something wrong. When I hold an app to drag from the drawer, tw will immediately change to my home screen so I can put it there. At best I can drag it to the top where it says folder but that just creates a folder in my home screen. That's not what I'm looking for, I want it in the app drawer.
As I stand, I can create folders in the appdrawer just fine, I just don't know how to populate them
Edit: never mind just found out. Wow this is awkward. For the sake of anyone that may be wondering like me, you need to open the drawer, press menu, edit, touch a previously created folder and then it will let tick apps to move to the folder. I've seen better implementations, but it works. Thank you anyway.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using XDA Premium App
Pretty simple
1. Open The app Drawer.
2. Create Folder
3. Click on Left Soft Key for Menu options
4. Click ok "Edit"
5. Now Select App Icons to Drag and Drop.
6. Hit thanks You or Like if i was helpful
