Not that I know of.. don't think it's possible.

Too bad. I usually flash new images on the bus to work, and having a "recovery SD" would be very nice

Yeah I feel you on that.
I just flash it anyway and keep a couple others on the card (and possibly a full backup of the original) just in case, as long as you delete app data from sd and HR after flash the phone should be working properly at least for the day . I just wouldn't flash a new ROM series or one you haven't tried before.
But yeah it would be nice if you could 29 from SD..

Actually, my last flash from SD left my phone in a vegetative state where it wouldn't boot and wouldn't re-flash. Had to go to bootloader and do a task 29 in order for it to want to do anything

Question About Installing UnNamed ROM

So I am getting ready to install this ROM, or at least try to. Question I have is when it says to " 1) Download update-unnamed-v1.X.X-full.zip and place it on your SD card", what does that mean exactly? Do I need to download it onto my computer and move it to my phone? Or do I download it right onto the phone?
Also, do I need an external SD card installed into the phone or can I just save the zip onto the internal memory?
Sorry for the newbie questions but I am very new to this. You guys were very helpful when I rooted the phone so I figured you would be the ones to ask again this time. Thanks in advance for your help.
Doesn't matter how you download it and it can go on either SD card, internal or external.

when you wipe, you will lose everything on your phone. So make sure your contacts are backed up. If you have them in gmail, then you wont lose them because after flashing the new rom and once you setup your gmail account, your contacts will come back automatically.
Yup, best for every Android user to import all of their contacts into their Google/Gmail account. I manually entered mine into Gmail when I first got an Android phone. It sucked, but since then I haven't had to worry about it. As soon as I flash a ROM and sign in to my Google account my contacts just pop in like magic.

yep. I spent the hour or whatever to manually enter all my contacts. It can take a while depending on how many contacts you have, but it will save you a LOT of time and headaches later on.
Another question for you, what happens to my stock rom when I install UnNamed? Will it still be available to me should I need to switch back?
With my paid apps, will I be able to redownload them for free or am I going to have to pay again? I have titanium backup but since I am wiping the phone wont everything I backed up get wiped too?

Do you currently have CWM installed? If so, you can do a full nandroid backup from recovery of your stock rom if you choose to go back to stock. If not, Entropy has a great thread in the dev section about loading back to stock.
UnNamed will simply become the one and only rom on your phone (which isn't a bad thing) after you flash it, the stock will always get replaced.
As to your paid apps via the Market, they'll be there for you to download again for free. TB is another good option, just make sure that you ONLY choose 'Missing Apps with Data' for any restoring.

Whenever you choose 'Wipe data', all folders on /sdcard (clockworkmod, titaniumbackup, download, etc.) remain there and untouched. Formatting the /sdcard is another story.
Your answer was correct since the storage area where the contact info is stored will in fact get wiped but it kind of makes it sound as though you will lose everything, which is not the case.

If you don't backup the stock rom you will loose it.
To back up the stock rom which you are using now is easy.
Go into CWM Recovery and select "backup/restore"
then select "backup".
OR if you are not sure about CWM recovery you can always do it the easier way.
Download this app called "CWM Manager" which is available here: http://megaupload.com/?d=TGXMLL1G
This this app is better than a swiss army knife!
This app is so easy to use that even my brother "Mikey" can do it!
The reason it's so easy to use is because it's self-explanitory.
OK, I do have the cwm from when I rooted, so I should be good there.
Last question, and BTW you have all been super helpful with this. When you say SD card, you are talking about my phones internal memory right and not a little micro SD card that needs to be installed, correct?

When ever you see "sdcard" mentioned in any of these posts or replies
people are referring to the internal sdcard unless they specify "external sdcard"
I also found it strange and a little confusing at first but for a different reason,
the reason being is that we really don't have an externel sdcard at all except
for the one which is inside of our phone.
(they are both internal sdcards since both of them reside inside of our phones!)

Yeah. I always refer to the external sd as just that, external or ext.
Long press volume key to skip songs mod
Hi GTG, is there any way you can implement Aerobahn's mod to skip songs from any app like google music, pandora or any other music app to skip songs with the volume keys?
I found a treath for a SGS2 international version that allows this. Any other sugestions. It would be really convinient when playing music via a bluetooth headset. I promess I'll make a donation.
Is it hard to learn the coding the implement this mod to your ROM?
Here is the link for this mod. I also pasted a file that has the code for this mode that works on international SGS2.

Alright, I did all the steps and I am pretty sure it worked bc my AOS dropped considerably. However, when I do the pulldown menu there are still only the five options. And when I hold down the power key there are only the three original options that I had in the stock rom. Did I mess something up? The only thing that was a little different from the instructions was when I chose the zip to install it was called "updated" in my menu instead of "update-unnamed-v1.X.X-full.zip" like it says in the instructions.

Sounds like you flashed the wrong file. What does it show for Build Number under 'About Phone' in settings? It should show UnNamed v1.0.4.
Also, you need to swipe the Notification options to the left to see the additional 5 but if you did indeed flash the wrong file, you obviously won't see that.

Sounds like they selected 'apply /sdcard/update.zip' instead of navigating to the proper directory and selecting the actual downloaded file, or 'apply update from sdcard' in the root CWM menu option.

It does not say that in the build.
Is the full rom inside of another directory folder? I must have just loaded the wrong file, ugh.

Just go download this "update-unnamed-v1.0.4-full.zip": http://www.multiupload.com/9UTPJDVDZQ
After its downloaded put it on your SDCARD (not inside any folders).
Go into CWM recovery and select "install zip from sdcard" then simply
select the "update-unnamed-v1.0.4-full.zip" in your sdcard and flash.
This way everything will be GOOOOD
unnamed rom is probably the most stable rom out thr.

I heard some things I can't recall xD
It wasn't from personal experience. I'm going to flash XXKK7 soon, once the firmware is down and try the new FOTA.
I was getting massive problems getting android back on my phone after I re-flashed it. Every SINGLE time I did it, the wave S would flash as it initialised and would just crash all of a sudden. Every time I tried doing little changes, I'd reflash and try again and it just got ridiculous. I must've tried 5 times to get Android back on there.
Hopefully I will have more success with this firmware and Bada 2.0!
EDIT:
Exact same problem. I'm losing the will to lose with this now... I must be doing SOMETHING wrong. Can someone enlighten me?
I'm using XXKK7 with the custom bootloader and was using XXKK5 with the XPKJ1 (Think it's called that) custom firmware and bootloader and a thousand times I've had this problem. I flash the phone with those exact firmware setups and then copy over the galaxyboot folder with the image file in and the other stuff and put the mkextimages into the root of the internal storage and boot into recovery mode. That works perfectly.
THIS is where I have no idea what to do. The tutorial doesn't specify even slightly what I do here. Do I click reboot immediately, or do I select format SD or some other combination? I do remember using some of them before I booted and it worked, but I've tried so much and it's wasted so much time I want to know what I'm doing rather than testing blind and then waiting 10-20 minutes with a wiped phone again. I'm so tired of wasting my time because of what seems to be like laziness. Every time I boot using the normal call and power buttons, it gets bast the galaxy boot screen, does the galaxy animation and flashes for a bit, as it should, to initialise it all and freezes for a second and then crashes. I haven't checked for a while and have forgotten but I think it's in bootloop when it does that. When I say bootloop, I mean black screen on the phone that then turns off after a bit and then on again, like that in an endless cycle. After removing the battery, I can then try to boot using the normal android call+power but it does the same thing.
I did have Android on there but it got so slow and bogged down, corrupted my SD Card that I couldn't stand it anymore and did a clean flash, which should send the phone back to factory default, Bada 2.0. Ever since that I've never been able to put android back on there and I can't be bothered to do it again until someone can suggest something to help the problem.
I've literally reflashed around 10-15 times to try and fix the problem.
Could someone tell me what they do to get android on their phone, specifically using XXKK7, from start to finish, including how they flash? Just for information, to speed things up, I've flashed custom FOTA files on along with standard files. Do I have to put the custom files on after? Bada works fine, as it always has.
Thanks, sorry to sound pissy and arrogant and rude, but I'm just annoyed I can't get this to work because of a lack of guidance.

Just leave as it is and don't press anything, it must shut down when finish process automatically
Edit
It also mention in Tutorial
Then this should popup (after the SGS screen)
DO NEVER, ABSOLUTELY NEVER PULL OUT BATTERY OR TOUCH THE PHONE IN THIS PROCESS
http://shadowas1.com/badadroid/IMG_0050.JPG
This can take up to 5 minutes.
Now, Two things can happen
1. The phone boots bada
2. The phone shuts down
In any of this cases your phone is absolutely fine. If you have case 2 you can boot bada to check if everythings alright if you wish.
Assuming we all boot bada shut down the phone again
Boot android in the normal way by holding the Power and Call key

Honestly, I'd call Android retarded in the SD realm xD
Not only did it corrupt my card, but it puts lots of folders completely unorganised and visible into your SD. I like how Bada manages it personally. I'm sure there's a way to get around it, but it seems clumsy.

the way i see it, bada causes the issues by not using a 100% fat filesystem (something else likte tfs4 or such), i usually got around it by starting over with wiping the partitions from the SDcard and then creating about 3 primary partitions and ensuring the first is FAT formatted by windows (rest for android data and cache if wanted for such), both bada and android should them manage to use the FAT partition fine.

You set up the partitions yourself using Linux?
I'm still running off of NAND (Running way faster now), I presume you are using the SD Version?
EDIT: I have noticed that I can't access music on Android now and I was having problems with the gallery. Damnit.
i'm using NAND method because my SDcard is too slow, the Nand version mounts external SDcard as internal SDcard in android.

[Q] Rezound internal memory

I installed INFECTION 2.9.1 over my rooted ICS installation, but decided I liked the look of the ICS sense better, so I decided to restore my nandroid image of ICS. It booted up but got stuck on the screen right after the white HTC one. I flashed back to jellybean and tried a FACTORY RESET. It reboots me into RA-VIGOR with the error message "E:Invalid command argument"
I can boot back into jellybean but now it is telling me there is NO INTERNAL memory. Where did it go?
Have I killed my phone here?

No you just didnt read threads or previous quiestions...upon moving from stock to a 4.2 based rom you got the bug from memory on that...you need to switch to twrp if not on that and mount and partition your emmc and internal sd card....this has been a known bug for the longest time now....dont use Amon Ra (RA-VIGOR) as it gives bugs on rom installs for any rom really and it doesnt play nice....such as possible phone overheats, battery drain, and many random reboots even after not upping your min frequency

Yep, you are right, I did not read previous threads as I did not know there was a problem with Amon Ra when I first installed it. The Infection 2.9.1 thread recomemended using it! Anyhow, I have since got a message pop up on the screen that said something about bad memory and told me to format it. I did, and now I can see my internal storage again. Yes, it is the internal 10gb that I meant. For a while it was not showing, either on the phone or in windows. After the message on the phone came up to format it (which I did) I could then see it in both windows and on the phone. I had not taken any notice of what was on it beforehand. I have only had the phone for a couple of weeks as it was given to me by a friend who was cut off from Verizon for not paying his bill !! I shoved in a TMOBILE sim from a spare phone I had and it works just fine for making calls but only Edge for data (not that it matters as I have a Optimus L9 for data)
Any info you could find would be most appreciated.

to go back to stock you actually have to first s-off and unlock the bootloader....also 4.2 reboots furiously if you dont set things up right...try a 4.3 rom like Tachyon or Carbon Rom....on either one of those ive yet to have a randoom reboot on proper settings that i set up

I was looking at the Tachyon rom yesterday as it happens, but I read somewhere that in 4.3 they changed something with the way memory is handled? and that you can no longer select the external SD card in the camera app, only the internal memory. Is that right?

yes but to be honest....stock is the same exact way
Edit...if your looking for a good fresh fast and to have everything work but base build go with tachyon....if your looking for fully customizable everything thats fast and stable go with carbon rom or pac 4.3....also you can download and replace the stock gallery with one that does save to internal sd card which is 10gb...you can always transfer to external sd as well as to a pc

Doesnt 3.6 come with 2800 MB system storage (mandatory) and 300 MB cache. also mandatory. and the choice of 1GB, 2GB or 3GB o data? thats where im getting confused. 1) have you done a full wipe of your partition? data, dalvik and cache. 2) are you rooted properly?? 3) try to download the zip again, sometimes you get bad downloads. all else fails, go into stock reovery and do a factory reset. then root properly and install safestrap. it sounds like you dont have proper permissions or there are some " lingering" apps conflicting with the new rom. let me know how your endeavor goes. good luck:good:
Oh and of course make sure you are on the jlftvzwME7 build otherwise safestrap may be fruitless..
Ok I will try to give the alloted space I didnt realize there was a specific amount it needed

No sorry i worded that strange... What i meant was that I was unaware you could make such partition changes. the only SS ive had the only option you have as far as the size of something goes, is the data. I have to leave sys at 2800 and cache at 300 MB so I found your problem very odd... And it is most certainly compatible but you're either not rooted properly ( maybe your SU binary needs to be updated?) or you need to perform FULL WIPES before the install. dont reboot in between flashing bonestock and the me7 modules either. And last but not least, Dont boot the new rom for atleast ten minutes after your done flashing it. if all else fails... just delete the slot and make a new one. and maybe try a new DL of the ROM

and fix your permissions if you can. its helped me with some funky ROMS
Ok lets start from the top
I know the SU is installed correctly because I'm using uninstall manager to remove apps like audible and viewdini that I dont use and it works perfectly
But just in case, how do I make sure my binaries are up to date?

if youre using SS, you need an external sd to keep the zips. and if you dl root browser and open it, it will prompt you to install "tools" one of which is winrar ( or something similar). although if you are going straight off the ext. sd, i dont think you need that. you should be able to create a custom rom slot in the # 1 spot, activate it and go to "Install" on the home page of the SS recovery. Pick bonestock.zip first, then add the me7 modules.zip, then flash. just dont boot the new rom for about 10 minutes
Was that any help to you?? I hope so. And if it was, shoot a thanks my way haha or just pm me and it will be much easier to communicate. good luck!

just remember you gotta throw it on the external. and WIPE, WIPE, WIPE! flash bonestock and dont reboot. wipe dalvik and cache. then flash the me7modules. give it ten minutes, then boot
you cant do it from the internal sd card that i know of

[Q] Major Issues!!!

I have done all the things in this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632730
Everything "seemed" fine until I tried using WiFi, I actually have to hit the wifi button and then restart my phone for the wifi to actually work, weird...
Besides that, the phone has just been restarting itself and it's happening more and more. And lately, it's wicked slow with just about everything I try to do... its just super glitchy. So I thought that maybe starting from scratch would be the best way to make things right, and then re-root...
But doing this caused many questions while reading through the forum and I'm hoping that someone can help point me in the right direction...
I guess the most important questions are:
Do I wipe the phone and do a clean install, going back to stock first?
If so, because I have followed the instructions in the link above, what are the exact steps so that I don't brick it?
Should I just buy a new phone?
If I did a clean install and then re-root will it run better than it is now?
I have many more questions but I think answering these first will help out a lot...
Thanks to whoever can help me out...
Android Version 4.3
Baseband Version I605VRUEMJ9
Kernel Version 3.0.31
Build Number JSS15J.I605VRUEMJ9
Edit: I installed the new Dodol Launcher and miraculously my WiFi is working again! So I uninstalled the Nova Launcher... I am happy that I can toggle my wifi settings once again =) But I read something extremely upsetting about 2mins ago in regards to the people with unlimited data which I have, and that is, we cannot use third party apps to tether the hotspot if we did the 4.3 update!!!??? Does anyone know if this is true? I thought that I couldn't tether because my phone is somehow screwed up, not because they blocked me from using it...

Thanks lacoursiere18!
After I get back to ramc3 and reunlock do you know how can I stop the OTA from popping up and trying to get me to install it? I want to be able to tether a mobile hotspot, so I need to stay on this one (because of the unlimited data), I think...?
On another note (no pun intended), I was starting the backup process and noticed that the phone has 10.3GB of internal storage, but when I add up all the folders it only amounts to 2.24GB! Does that mean that the OS is taking up 8GB!??? It just seems like a bit much and I can't see anything, there were no hidden folders or system files that I could find either... weird...

Try backing up your data and then reformat it through your phone settings. If that doesn't work you might want to reflash the ROM. Or go into the settings and remount it that way. But if it worked fine before you flashed the ROM I would reflash....

I had no luck with the memory card back up because I had to format my sd card as expat for version 22. Do you know of any way I could email the developer of my Rom to see if there is a fix or update on the way to fix this. It says I have to wait to have 10 posts.

It has to be the something to do with the format of the memory card and the ROM. My twrp recovery reads that all of my stuff is still there. It's just the version of the ROM that doesn't. Any ideas?
