Is there a froyo rom without launcher pro installed already? Is it ok to remove launcher pro from the rom zip file (is vanilla included)? I just want a vanilla froyo rom. Thanks in advance

It would depend on your ROM, but if you get the Launcher2.apk file from a pure google ROM image, then you can push it in, and remove LauncherPro.apk from the system folder.
Can you please link me to the file? I can only find one for the nexus one, not sure if that will work for our hero. So i can just replace launcherpro with that apk file in the rom zip file right? Thanks for the reply
Flash any of these ROMs, they don't have LauncherPro installed !

you also cant use touch wiz specific widgets in launcher pro.
they are both coded for their specific home environment.
So how do I change the files ?
Why couldn't I just add the to system/app ?

how do you change the files as in recode them to work in another launcher?
you would need the source code and since neither touch wiz or launcher pro are open source, this is not possible.
your best option is to browse the market and find similar widgets.
otherwise if you want to use launcher pro widgets, you'll just have to use launcher pro.
same goes for touch wiz.

you could add them to system/app lots of people using the old mytouches and G1's used to put launcher pro and ADW there all the time, but it wont let you use the widgets interchangably, as they are coded only for their respective launchers.
it would simply free up a small bit of space in your data folder, and use a small bit of space in your system/apps folder.

you could just use launcher pro, is there a reason you dont want to?
it works just fine with R13.(also R14 is out now if your interested)

I am thinking about building a basic custom rom for personal use, i know that if i decompile a rom i will be able to go to system/app and find all of the roms apks there.
The default launcher for the rom is Launcher2.apk but i want ADW Launcher(free) do i simply delete launcher2 and add ADW so that it will load as the default launcher when i install the rom or is there a certain step that i am missing ?

Ah ok.
Download the ROM from the second link I posted (stock ROM odexed or deodexed) then open the .zip with Winrar for example and go to system/app inside the .zip... You'll see all the system apps and just extract them... All these system apps are stock.

Yes, so download the stock ROM zip from my second link, it's here: http://wanamlite.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=7388 (credits to Wanam).
It's what you need: a fully stock ROM but in zip file so you can extract what you want. All is stock in term of appearance (I mean no themed).

That's not my work.

Just install as normal app. If you want that to behave like stock home (like direct uninstalling from drawer), put that apk to /system/priv-app.
If it didn't install or misbehave, go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache partitions.

I just flashed a TW based rom but it doesn't contain swype keyboard. Can I get an apk of the stock swype app? I also have an odin flashable tar.md5 file of stock rom. Can I extract the apk from that and use it somehow? Please help. Thanks.
