dream on....I wouldn't count on Samsung and Tmobile until it actually happens except for google phone like N1. I had Vibrant myself, and really like it. But Samsung and Tmobile are famous for BS update promises. Sorry, but past experiences with Samsung on Behold 2 make me feel that way about them. Both Samsung and Tmobile blame each other. Anyway, don't call Tmobile CSR, they don't know a thing and will misleading you.

[Q] Will the Nexus S help the Galaxy S line down the road?

Does anyone think that there may be a possibility that with Google's using a phone so similar to the Galaxy S that it may help out further development with the Galaxy S series? Think about it - the Hummingbird is about to go mainstream as far as development goes!
I've bought a Vibrant in the past and ended up selling it because of the horrid GPS issues (even with all the GPS "fixes" and custom ROMs), only to find out down the road that I never use the GPS functionality anyways.
I have a G2 right now - I like it, but the hinge on the keyboard leaves me concerned about how long the phone will last. I tried the MT4G as well - I simply couldn't tolerate the interface and development for that phone is pretty weak at the moment.
The crazy thought running through my head is that since I never use the GPS anyhow, I might want to see about getting a Vibrant again. I'm not worried about 2.2 not having been officially released yet, nor about 2.3 as I know before too long someone will port it to the Vibrant - I rarely ever use stock ROMs for more than a few days anyhow.
So, all GPS issues aside, am I foolish for thinking that it may be a good idea to pick up another Vibrant?
If you're thinking of picking up a Vibrant why not just wait until Decem--wait, nevermind. Want to buy my Vibrant?
Mostly because I don't want to lay out the $500 plus for the Nexus S when I can pick up a used Vibrant for cheap or trade someone my G2.
No other thoughts on this one?
I'll trade you. The gps issues are gone. Long gone.
Only reason I want a g2 is because I love HTC it feels nice and sturdy and has a flash.

How did u fix GPS?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I really never had a "major" gps issue to begin with, just with the amount of time that it took to get a lock. But as builds have progressed ... JK* JI* now JL1 its just gotten to the point where I get a lock in 3-5 seconds INSIDE the house. Plus, I've never run into a tenth of the issues that alot of members talk of having here. I think its mostly on the user, not the device.
Lag fix? Never have, never will!

GPS issues are mostly addressed with the latest ROM's.
The accuracy leaves to be desired, but if don't place your life on it you are fine.

Vibrant 4G

Saw someone selling Galaxy 4g for$200. Should I buy it? I own 2 Vibrant 3G. Any different in rooting &custom rom? Will Tw/Edt roms work?

Grab it if it's only $200.
That's actually a good price for a GS4G. It doesn't have much development yet, but it will as soon as Krylon has a working CWM for it.
At this point, and with you having 2 vibrants, there really is no point in dropping the 200 on a Galaxy S 4G. Yes, they have root, but almost developers other than Krylon are supporting it and no Vibrant roms, i9000, or any other Galaxy S series roms work on it. So basically, you are stucked with a rooted stock 2.2.1.
And to be truthful, I doubt any other developers will support it, seeing as though many have already bought the G2X or are waiting on other dual core devices.
How is the stock rom? I mean is it laggy like my 3g?

It is Android 2.2.1 so it is better than the stock Vibrant. But with a custom rom the Vibrant 3g is faster, especially on CM7.

I do not understand why people in this forum are going crazy over the mytouch 4g. If you are going to root both devices anyways, and install a custom rom, you do realize that the two devices are basically the same right? My Vibrant on CM7 plus an otterbox commuter feels solid and runs like a dream.

Honestly, I would buy the GS4G for $200 and sell one of my Vibrants. You should be able to get $200 for your 3G Vibrant if it is in good condition. That way, you have a GS4G and GS3G, without an end cost. If nothing else, just buy the GS4G and turn around and sell it. You should be able to make at least $100 on it assuming it is like new. So, either way, buy it. Just my two cents.
dont buy it, it dont even have internal memory, i rooted one and odin to kc1 nd tried to add the lockscreens and power menu options from whitehawks and it said there was no space and i had to odin again

New OTA soon

Within the next couple days we should get an update, primarily for the green tint a lot of us have ffrom the camera.
If you don't get it within a few days I'd check out the HTC site for it.

Lol dude I know. But it tweaks some other minor issued too. Idk what they include though.
But don't get me wrong, this phone is my favorite by far. And I've had the epic, OG EVO, and the shift. And this kills all those. Dead.

I know it might be too late for this OTA, but I wonder if it closes the exploit to obtain temp root.
Just wondering How and where did you happen to get this info from?
Yeah where's your source.
I still wont touch any updates, im not loosing any chances for full root and unlocked. Ill deal with it, im sure it'll be baked into a custom ROM when theyr'e available.

as soon as someone cracks the apk, we'll install it, then after a week or so they'll release an update that cuts us out... unfortunately, its probably not gunna happen, and if it does, it wont last long

Well, I'm stock and I've had the issue of mobile data not working. Oh, and let's not forget the terrible awake times that drain the battery. It seems unfair that these forums would only be for those who unlock their bootloaders and install custom roms. Maybe you're right though and maybe I'll just go elsewhere if I need help.
Why call AT&T for regards to an update anyway. You will have much better luck calling the manufacture. Sometimes you can get them to throw the carrier under the bus. Sometimes they say the update has already been submitted to the carrier for testing. Of course they could be lying. My point is, you won't get a right answer for AT&T but you may get a plausible answer from LG.
