I heard that facebook application updates its contact display pic with facebook display pics ? Mine doesnt do so , is that because of andriod 1.6 or somthin elc stopping to do so? any other software which does the same?
go to contacts, press app button, show updates and you can select either facebook, twitter or both (you need to link the contacts from phone and fb)
to link contacts, go to timescape, look for the contact spline, click on the infinity button, addcontact, and select from your contacts list

We all know it is there but if you ask me two functions are missing so is there a way to enable them.
1. Linking my contacts with facebook contacts that do not have mobile phone number present. I can only link facebook accounts if any phone number is added.
2. Linking contacts with FB pages, for example my gym has a facebook page and I would liek to link that to the gym number.

click new contact, scroll right to the bottom and click link with facebook
it comes up with all your facebook friends and you can have them in your contacts list without any other information
this way the contacts show up in the manila facebook tab and you get their status and album updates

No they do not. I can not link any of the FB pages they just do not show up.
Half of my friends do not show up as well.
try the refresh button.... always works perfect for me
mayby try when on a wifi connection?
I'll play with it today however even if it works it is not the best way. I do not think that pim backup or outlook save facebook linking information.

you need android 2.1 and facebook for android. login press the button sync to contacts
For anyone who still has 1.6 you can use 'SyncMyPix' which does the same thing.
Note: The name in your phonebook has to be identical to the name on facebook.
Other program is Facebooksync there you can choose which phone contact to sync with facebook profile picture.
Do not need any 3rd-party app.
Just upgrade to 2.1, then update the pre-installed Facebook app with Android Market.
At the first time you start FB App, it will ask you whether to sync your facebook contacts with your phone contacts or not. Let it sync.
When the sync is completed, open your Contacts. Click on the contact that you want to change the Contact Picture ~> click on Edit Contact ~> press Menu button and choose Join contact. Then choose your Facebook contact that related with the current contact.
Done, the contact picture will automatic change to FB profile picture. Any update to FB profile picture will effect to the user contact picture automatically.

Wow it's a good one! But, my contacts change the name to the facebook contact... and in some cases its a fake name, any way to change this?

problem with this is, i have 1300 friends. and what it did was, it added all 1300 friends and put it in my phone book, how annoying!
Go to FB App Settings, Sync Contacts, and check the option Sync with existing contacts.

That's the exact reason I didn't sync it. Same with the facebook profile photos.

It would be pretty great if someone developed an app or something so you can have all your facebook contacts seperate from your personal contacts,
or if it was an option under the contacts menu
Just a thought...
You do not need an app for this. The phone already does this. Just sync your facebook and then under contacts you go in to the options and select "get friends" choose facebook and select all those you want to transfer to your contacts list. You then can put them in their own group or join them with their phone number and google account.
so this will not interfere with my personal contact list at all?
i DO NOT want facebook and personal contacts together.
You will have to sync your FB contacts, tell your phone to not show them in the contacts via Contats>Menu>Display Options.
Then when you want to only look at your Facebook contacts, from the Contacts app, click group, scroll down to "All Facebook Contacts."
It doesn't really accomplish anything, other than making you look in two places for information.
You also could use a Facebook Live Folder on your Home Screen if you want.
I have mine set so my contacts store their Gmail and Facebook on their contact profile. I can then just go to contacts and pick a person. Then I can click on updates in the right corner and it displays Facebook posts from my contacts. Its pretty nice.
i am using both timescape and facebook android app in my X10
Facebook app allows me to chat and other stuffs but doesn't allow me to type more than 160 chars in status update.(check it out if u haven't yet) whereas timescape allows me to type more chars and at the same time when we update in timescape, it says 'via sonyericsson X10' in fb.
But the problem is. since i am using FB via android app and timescape, i am having two FB accounts in each contact of ma phonebook - same ones repeated twice.
(one says Facebook-my mail id and other facebook- timescape)
is there anyway in removing timescape integration with the phonebook?
just uncheck on the settings to phonebook not to synch to fb android, while check synch to timescape.
if you just want to remove your timescape facebook on your contacts just go to your contacts, then on the upper left hand side next to the search button, click the button with the three heads, then under display contact click the facebook timescape and a drop down menu will show and uncheck the contacts.
I tried that too, all contacts under timescape is unchecked, but still when i go to edit contacts i can stil see two fb accounts and when viewing a contact also, there are two mail ids and phone nos.

How do i sync contacts with facebook pictures without getting ALL my friends from facebook to the phone.
"Sync existing contacts only" doesnt work. Mine just syncs all my FB friends numbers to my phone.. and doesnt even update the contacts picture on phone..
same problem....but some contacts were updated and some others not
i have had this problem as well, and there is a small work-a-round when in the contacts menu i go to Options > Visible contacts > Edit , and simply only have the desired contacts show up.
as for your picture problem, i have always done this by hand simply merging the contact with the corresponding facebook account
Yeah thats a workaround, but then when you start typing receiver in text messages for example, random people from facebook with number pops up.. kind of annoying.
SyncMyPix, is a app that does the job but i would want FB native app to do the job..
If anyone knows, please share!
