Hi,
I have a strange problem with my Qtek 2020. Before I installed and upgraded the Qtek I have put a temporary simcard (nr 1) in the Qtek. I updated to 1.72 and everything worked very well. Also the GPRS / internet setting works fine. After a softreset the device boots up and detects the GPRS network (you briefly see the "G" in the display).
I always put a temporary simcard in the device after an upgrade so I can test everything and don't miss any calls.
After my succesfull tests I have put my own simcard (nr 2) in the phone. This simcard has exactly the same subscrition as the first. I checked this with Vodafone. But..... after a softreset the device boots up and doesn't detect the GPRS network (I don't see the "G" in the display).
I can't connect to GPRS. I haven't changed any settings, I checked them all. I installed the GPS-GPRS-Tweak but it still doesn't work....
Please help....

Just one question before I attempt to answer yours, where did you get a QTEK 202 1.72 update, there is none as far as I know... I feel u may have installed the dual band update and are in a tri band area and as such your phone radio is not working cuz its set on a different frequency!

1) did you check you have enough prepaid credit on your sim ?
2) try the sim card on a second phone;
3) call the customer service, they can verify if you are registered on network and gprs enabled.

I think he means: T-mobile 1.72 WWE.
So radio should be working ok...
Thanks for your suggestions!

Yes, I meant the 1.72 which I installed on my Qtek.

1) Yes, I have enough credit. It's no prepaid card.
2) I installed the sim in my P900 and the internet and GPRS works fine.
3) I did, but they didn't know what to do...... I am registed on the network and gprs is enabled (it works fine on other phones such as my P900).
Any other suggestion?
I now think the problem is not Qtek related but has something to do with Vodafone. The weird thing is both simcards have exactly the same subsripction and settings....
Thanks, JeDa

He probably does Panja mate.
And what he is describing is the exact same problem I am having , that I think we have discussed before, and I have flagged up in the 1.72 ROM thread.
And I never even installed the ROM, but instead, only the Extended ROm files, copied over to my device, and ran/installed.
When I power up, my XDA2 finds the network, but DOES NOT do a GPRS connectivity check to see if there is GPRS coverage.
As yet, I have still not found a solution to this problem either!
YES!!!!
Problem solved!!
What I did:
- settings
- connections
- gprs setting
- changed PAP authentication to CHAP authentication
- changed Class 8 (4R1T) to Class 10 (3R2T)
The radio was reset and now the Qtek found the gprs network!!
Back to MSN, internet etc!
Thanks,
JeDa
Worked !
Good afternoon,

I Just flashed it with the new 1.72 !
All went Smoothly, NO Problem at setup and so far everythink looks OK !

Er, have you made sure this survives a reboot?
As putting it simply, ANYTHING that requires a GPRS connection, was enough for my device to find the GPRS service, and then connect. And then even if I hung up, it still had GPRS coverage then.
But as soon as a reboot, well of course it is gone again.
I'll try your suggestion and see, but I am sure I have done this before, and after a reboot, its gone again...

I hope so, cos its as hard as hell if you need or want to downgrade back again.
You should have read the posts on the board first.
Panja mate, by the way, did you ever find a way to go back to your existing ROM?
I recently loaded the xda developers ver. 1.2 rom to unlock the sim, seemed to work but later found that the phone was not functioning after 5 mins., a soft reset gets it going again, but then stops again after a few mins. This has happened to all three phones I used this program on. Can anyone help me fix this? PLEASE HELP!!!!! Contact me at [email protected]
What do you mean with "not functioning"?
Have you installed additonal software or just the ROM 1.2 ?
Stefan
By not functioning, I mean that no calls or text messages are received or sent after a few minutes of sitting. I have not installed any other software with it.
did you install a radiostack along with the rom if so
and you did a 900/1800 radiostack on a 900/1900 device
or the other way around you should reflash the right radio stack
if not you can try choosing the right band in the bootloader
I did not change the radio stack, the rom 3.17.00, radio version 6.12 . I have set to 1900 with bootloader, still same problem. FIDO in Vancouver, canada. got any suggestions? the sticker says its a pw10b1
I've got an early, black X01HT (originally 1.04 radio I think) I unlocked running WM6 Black Satin, hard SPL and the 1.50 radio. It works great in Japan with the CAB that adds the Softbank connection.
But, I'm in the US now and my American (Cingular) SIM gives me the SIMLock page which is likely caused by Welcome.exe. Replacing welcome.exe gets rid of the SIMlock page but it still refuses to get on the network. With the Softbank SIM it roams just fine.
Has anyone successfully had both the Softbank data connection installed and plugged in a non-Softbank SIM? Or do you re-flash every time you travel? Any tricks?
Thanks!
hey guys, I have a t-mobile vario 2, i upgraded to WM6 a few months back, in the past week or so the phone has been playing up, i guess its been crashing, haven't been able to make or recieve calls, even when reset it and ! mark appears at the top (i have tried a different sim sam prob),
I have downgraded it back to WM5 and the original t-mobile rom, it still seems to be crashing and not logging onto the t-mobile network
under the device info this is what comes up
ROM version 1.21.116.4
ROM Date 06/22/06
radio version
Protocol version
can anyone shed any light on this? many thanks
Hi everybody,
I got my new HD2 (original german Vodafone rom) last Friday and got it running very well if there wasn't that WLAN problem:
When connected to my Speedport W920V via WPA2 the phone does not get any access to the internet via WLAN. 3G works fine.
When I try to ping the phone the pings get back.
The strange thing is: Connecting to a friend's WLAN on a FritzBox get's me an access to the internet as well as an AdHoc connection to my laptop does.
What I tried since:
various hard- and softresets
deleting and setting it up again the wireless connection
removing any encryption on the accesspoint
updating HSPL with HSPL3
updating to 3.14 german original HTC
Nothing of that worked.
It would be great if you got some ideas for me!
Best regards from Germany

one thing is important to know sir latest stock ROM (3.14) isn't compatible with HSPL.
it cause lot of troubles. so test it without HSPL on your stock ROM 3.14
