This is a preinstalled application on the phone, when you go to select wallpapers you have an option to choose from your photos or this preinstalled wallpaper gallery. I would prefer to be able to add wallpapers to this instead of my general photos so they don't get mixed up. Is there a way to do this or is it even possible to add more? I have used astro to locate the location of the wallpapers but it does not allow me to paste any files in it.
*Edit* This would also make it so people don't have to resize and crop the photos, making the multi pane photos the size they are supposed to be.
Connect your streak to pc, go to my computer > removable disc > and you will be presented with some folders 'data', 'download' etc; create another called 'pictures' and within that create another one called 'wallpapers' put your new wallpapers in their.
I just tried that and the wallpaper still does not show up in the wallpaper gallery. The images are still showing up in the photo app which is the thing I'm trying to prevent. I appreciate any help or suggestions though, so thankyou for your response

Whenever I go to change the wallpaper in Launcher Pro, I get only only option, those darn colored lights. How can I add to this list? Also, even though I have downloaded Live Wallpapers, installed them, and have been notified that the installation was successful, I do not see it as an option anywhere. Any suggestions?
Some of the Live Wallpapers might not work, I've had the same issue. But, many of them do work. I personally like the grass one as it's a low graphics footprint.
As for wallpaper, most of the built-in ones are just embedded in their respective apks. you could just create your own 1024x600 images, drop them in /DCIM and you should be able to select them. Or, the Market has downloadable wallpapers, I believe.
Thanks! I could not determine just where to put the wallpaper files. Thanks. Will also keep trying with the Live Wallpaper. I was concerned it was due to a hardware problem.
Still no luck finding a Live Wallpaper that works. Also, the wallpaper I add to the DCIM folder.... what format should it be? jpeg? And do I just put them in the DCIM folder? There are two other folders there, but none of them show up when I try to change the wallpaper in Launcher Pro.
im using launcher pro and running aquarium live donate works great tons of features too

Hi,
I haven't found a specific way to do this, but I did find that if I install ADW, then the ADW Ubuntu theme, both from Market, then, uninstall ADW, I could still use the wallpapers from ADW Ubuntu theme in Launcherpro!
I was hoping I could do that with the other ADW themes, but the ADW Ubuntu theme was the only one that worked ...

How do we use an image as wallpaper
OK, I've tried everying. I have a JPEG and can't figure out how to get it set as wallpaper. Using stock TNT and LauncherPro.

Hit the main menu, choose Wallpaper then choose Gallery. Browse to your picture, select it, drag out the box to cover the entire picture (or most at least) and click save.
Your .jpg picture is now your wallpaper.
I'm having this same issue. I saved a wallpaper and moved it to the root of the /DIM folder. I hit Settings --> Wallpaper --> Wallpaper gallery. There's still only the two stock images in there.
Any help?

Images you add to /DCIM folder will NEVER show up under Wallpapers or Wallpaper gallery. Images listed in Wallpapers are part of the app.
Your images are only available when you select wallpaper from the menu, then choose Gallery. This will load your gallery of photos which you can choose as a wallpaper.

I can't find that option on this ROM. When I select wallpaper from the menu, the only two options I have are "Live Wallpapers" and "Wallpaper Gallery".
Try opening your gallery, find one of the images you want as your wallpaper and long press it, press the "more" at the bottom of the screen and select "Set as" and see if Wallpaper is one of your choices...
The only place I could find the pic that I downloaded is within my "Photos" app and it only gives me the option to share or delete it.
Looks like something is missing in that ROM if you don't have the option to use an image as a wallpaper.
I know this is kind of the opposite of this threads topic, but..
How would I go about extracting the 2 wallpapers from within launcherpro's wallpaper gallery? I actually only want the darker, 'carbon fiber' of the 2 in my phone so I still have it even tho I no longer use that particular launcher.
Thanks in advance!
Live wallpapers are missing on my grab. I can see mywater in Manage Applications but cant get to it/find it on the sd card. Any ideas

Some ROMs (mostly HoneyComb ones, eg.: GtabCombOver) don't come with any Live Wallpapers.
If the ROM does come with Live Wallpapers, then they will reside in .apk file in the /system/app/ directory.
Third party Live Wallpapers, if they are installed, will be found inside /data/app/. They will be found on the SD card only if they've been moved there--either as part of their install or explicitly by the user.
That's helpful. Thanks.
Hi,
I have just flashed my SGS2 this evening and so far i am loving the look and performance, but i have one problem, when i go into settings / Display / Screen Display / Lock screen / Wallpaper / and then go into Wallpaper Gallery there are only the stock wallpapers there, from what i read on the Lite'ning forum they have added lockscreen wallpapers but i can not figure out how to apply them.
I notice that if you set home wallpaper it gives you the Lite'ning Wallpaper option which contains all the wallpapers but no such option in the lockscreen settings.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks.
can anyone help me??
ive been searching google for the past 2 hours and cant find the answer....
When setting wallpapers in stock roms you are being asked if you want to use that pic for lockscreen too, don't know if custom roms use that option.
I would recommend "live wallpaper changer" (or something like this) it's a really great app..
I like to have my wallpaper switched randomly every 5 minutes to another of my 500 pics collection.
also you can double tap the backround to change the actual wallpaper.
When i was on stock rom i had to change each wallpaper, it never asked if i wanted to use as lock wallpaper aswell....
It would be easy to change the lockscreen wallpaper if i knew where they were in my phone system, but i cant seem to find them....
Thanks for your replied

After some more searching i have come across the lite'ning lockscreen wallpaper, it is in the framework-res.apk but i found it on google images and just saved it to my gallery, i am asuming that his wallpaper should be auto applied when flashed to the device but didnt for me :/

Download the litening wallpapers.apk from the official thread..put it on your phones sdcard..download astro file manager and locate the .apk file. I think if you hold the file it will pop up with a menu and somewhere you can explore the .apk. Then just save the pictures you want from it and use them as your lockscreen
you know i must be bleeding blind, i didnt see the wallpaper apk download link.
I cant believe i have been searching all this time and it was infront of my face.
Thanks for all the help.
Glad to be of help

Saving Pictures to lock screen Wallpaper Gallery
Thanks guys - just what I was looking for. I have saved the lightening pics to my photo gallery so I have been able to locate them and load my new lock screen pic - awesome. However, where would I have to save the files so they are visible in my wallpaper gallery, that way I wont have to look at them each time I goto my photos...
Thanks in advance...
That i dont know, you will have to do a search on net or wait for one of the mega xda dev's to reply

Hi, I've tried to download the wallpapers from the thread page but the file is not there, I've tried from the market but installtion always fail, anybody can tell me why?
I've the litening 1.5 installed, nothing else.
I have some 1280/800 wallpapers that I would like to use but when selecting them you can insert the whole pic. You have to crop etc and then you can't see the whole wallpaper.. is there anyway to get my full picture on screen
Giving it some beans on my blue S3 Powered by CheckROM EvoHD™ V2
I use Multipicture Live Wallpaper, and choose the option to show the whole picture. You can have different pictures for each of your Home Screens, or just one across them all.

I had this problem too, but don't worry it will completely work. Thanks to lost sorrow who gave me lessons.
You don't open it from the app drawer. You open it by pressing to add the wallpaper and when it asks you to choose what app or wallpaper to open say live wallpaper and when you do it will ask if you want to open regular live wallpaper or the multilive app.
It will take some tinkering to learn to use he app but there's a TON of different settings and configurations to allow you to do everything under the sun. Personally, I set it to use one wallpaper image that doesn't change, so my wallpaper stays in place and the launcher home pages rotate on top of the one wallpaper. You can also have the wallpaper change at each homescreen or use one wallpaper that turns with home pages but stays the same image, etc.
PicSpeed and Tablet Wallpaper also do the trick. Same thing as above. Choose wallpaper in gallery and choose one of these programs to apply it as wallpaper. This has been answered several times in Themes section.
I personally have always liked Quickpic vs pure android gallery and Xperia gallery when i had my Arc S. but since i've had the 4.1.2 Gallery on my S3, ive loved the different view options, the speed has been great. I cant see myself having a need to use Quickpic again.
Anyone sitll using Quickpic? if so, why?
Because it will not let me hide albums like quickpic. Change to view only on device but does not save that setting

And Quickpic works extremely fast with quality previews, unlike the blurry images on the the stock SGS3 gallery!

Agreed with the option not saving but i definitely dislike my facebook / picasa pics in my gallery, so i remove them from syncing.
I like the logical sorting option.

Exclude albums from being scanned
Hide albums
Fast even with high quality images
Loads much quicker
The thing that really put me off the stock gallery though was how long it took to generate an image after I took a photo. I'd snap an image, click on the preview button and would normally be greeted by a loading screen that would take roughly 2 seconds. If I use another camera app then hit the preview button and set it to open with QuickPic, the image is there IMMEDIATELY. It's not the fact that 2 seconds is a long time to wait, its the fact that other apps can do it quicker. I'm on CM10.1 and have no need for QuickPic. Gallery is smooth and images are accessible immediately, no loading times or black screens
I want to use the wallpapers in this app but as with all the other background apps I have tried you have to use another app just to get the entire picture in the frame. The problem is I cannot find the backgrounds from in my phone and there's no way to save the images just set them as the wallpaper. Any help would be appreciated.

The reason you can't get the entire image in the single frame because of the way Android handles wallpapers. Here's a good write-up on it and why Android does what it does with any wallpaper app: http://lifehacker.com/5657727/whats-the-deal-with-androids-weird-wallpaper-requirements
Also, if you'd like to download the images from the app the Pro version allows you to do so. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rwilco12.WallpaperGalleryPro&hl=en
Thanks!
