Which Windows ROM gives the maximum battery life? - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which ROM should I flash to get the maximum battery life from the HD2? Is simpler ROM better or not?

It's hard to say because so many factors play an effect. If you have the perfect radio for your area and it's known to work well with the ROM you will usually get decent results for most ROMs. But if I had to decide I would say one of Miri's ROMs or the UnOff series.

I guess this thread will be closed soon. There are several threads asking which Rom to be the best? And you will get as much different answers as people write to your thread.
The answer is:
it depends mostly on the Radio ROM and the applications you are using. So you might get a longer battery life when you disable all those background agents for mail, twitter, weather and so on.
So you should better test for the best Radio ROM in your area with your needs and take a look at the existing threads how to save battery life

Here's something to help you test the radio (should be pretty easy to tell without it though)

hey guys whats your ****ing problem this thread is very interesting.

Calm down guy, it's called a search button I'll give you a hint "best hd2 rom for battery". There have been many threads about this. No need to huff and puff.
Don't be stupid. Different radios work different with different ROMs. And then your location also decides what radio is good for you. So go try them out.
Personally, I like 2.12.50.02 and 2.10.50.26 with a lot of ROMs. I know that because I tried them.

Is there any way to tell which rom has been downloaded the most?

At the risk of being flamed and banned, i thought that this might be a legitimate question.
Can it be answered?
Thanks
Is there a reason why? If its to determine the most popular one for you to use, that may not be the best indicator.
I download a lot of roms but dont always use them.
The roms tend to be held on different systems and servers (htcpedia, rapidshare etc) so it would be quite difficult to get comparisons.
A better indicator might be the level of traffic in a rom thread
this is a valid method but whould that not just indicate the amount of problems with the rom as people mainly post the problems they find and not thank yous
Better option would be to do a rough comparison based on this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683743

Possibly, but it also means problems are being raised and generally fixed. It will also point to the more active rom builds.
Its all very well having a rom that looks the dogs bollocks but if the chef isnt updating any issues with it, there isnt much point using it.
Look also for the rom chef answering questions, chef's like Dutty tend to be pretty active in answering questions (No thats not an endorsment of Dutty above all others, just the first name that sprung to mind as I use his HG4 at the moment, NRG is also active for example but more so on his twitter feed).

People's Experiance, Best Radio ?

I know that it depends where you live etc, but i noticed a few other HD2 users from my neck of the woods (south wales) just wondered what radio your using on your HD2's and how you finding the signal etc.
I'm currently using radio 2.12.50.02_2
And battery life is good, signal is ok but no where near as good as my old sony ericsson's.
I also get a fair bit of fluxuation in the signal, this morning i tried to reply to a text and it wouldn't send, about 4 sec later had nearly a 3 bar signal and resent and it was fine.
Does this just happen ? is the hardware just not as good as the old phone's used to be ?
Or has someone tried a different radio in this sort of area and got better results.
I had a HTC Magic and the signal wasn't as good as the sony's and my mates are saying there Iphone 3gs phones are poorer to than older phone's, so are these smartphones just not as good a phone as the older ones ?
Thanks for any info...
I have the same question Looking for a great Radio for Poland/ Central Europe.

your tempting the wrath of mods asking questions like that, its completely subjective, meaning everyone has different ideas on whats best and we're not grown up enough to have civilised debates on such subjects so id give up and just try them one at a time, be sure to use the correct .50 / .51 version to go with your ROM otherwise you will have some issues ive had better luck with the more recent ones however, in my opinion the early ones (2.07.*)had better sound but the battery on my device with the programs i used didnt last as long, then we went through a period.....in my opinion.....where the sound was shoddy, and now the most recent ones seem to be holding their own according to me, that is
mines 2.12.50.02_2 but make sure you get the right one or you may end up bricking it!

Ok I get it, thanks. One other thing I'm unsure of -> are radios supposed to be installed before the roms? or can it be installed after the rom? I understand Hspl is needed first of all..
Yeah i get its subjective which is why i said "people's Experiances" as for getting the mods all wound up, i would have thought it quite usefull to know what radio people are using for specific area's and how they have found them in day to day use, could save someone an awfull lot of messing about which i presumed was the whole purpose of this site

Agree with Wakers on this one..
Should be a thread of what ppl use for their region that suits them best
I have a pretty bad signal in my appartment, so its essential to have the right radio version. I tried a couple of radios and 2.06.51.07 is by far the best. The signal bars are the same as with any other radio, but calls don't drop and data connections are stable.
Yes, HSPL first, very important, then i thinki did ROM and then Radio

will help you the most.
yes in an ideal world we could all get along fine but every now and then we get people treating us like children it has got better recently but to give you an idea, not too long ago we were told subjective comments are not aloud and we cant say, xyz ROM best incase we hurt the feelings of cooks, apparently human beings lack the ability to understand the difference between subjective comments and facts, but anyway, read that link end to end, read some of the comments after it and chances are any question you may have will have been answered already on there,.

Heres my way of flashing...
Task29
Flash Radio of my choice
Flash Rom of my choice
Hard Reset
Flash the same ROM...
All these done without having the phone pass the bootloader. Until the last step.

So which is the best ROM (list) ?

Many different ROM's have been cooked for our TG01's now and each ROM brings a new experience / something different. I've personally tried many ROM's on XDA just to name a few theres nosker's, ffboy's, mirom's, and stonrom's but i cant seem to stick with one since im always looking for something better. Now to be fair i dont think any ROM is final yet since theres still alot to be done with our TG01's but i and im sure others would like to know which is the best ROM to use at this very moment.
Now we all use our devices for different things, i personally use it for a bit of everything - browsing the web, checking my email, gps tracking, checking the weather, and of course phone calls ! I seem to find browsing the web needs alot of RAM though so ideally im looking for a stable ROM with plenty of free RAM. I do like sense but from experience its just impossible to get a stable browsing experience with sense installed so im willing to sacrifice those nice looks. My personal favourites have been noskers rom and mirom which has an amazing 96MB free so im likely to be going back to one of those next unless anyone can recommend a better one.
An ideal solution to finding the best ROM would be to post your own experiences with each one, what you've personally used it for ie browsing the web. So im going to suggest we do just that ! Ill be keeping track of this thread so when time allows ill add a list below with our favourite ROM(s) specific to device useage. ie best rom for browing the web, etc. I think its a good idea anyway .

For some time now we have been closing off "Best Rom" threads. The reasons for this are well known.
In addition to those reasons, asking what is the best rom is akin to asking 20 people what the best beer is; you will never get a single agreed answer from all of them. Its about personal need, personal choice and preference, which can only be defined by YOU.
If you are unsure as to which rom might suit you best, read the first couple of posts of each thread posted by the rom chef. That tells you all you need to know about a particular rom, then list the attributes and decide which ones you would like to try out.
I thought I would post this up here so that there is an awareness, especially amongst new members of XDA Developers, and to help those who wish to pose this question.
Best rom threads will, in future be simply deleted without further explanation.
Please help us to help you by not putting up posts that have to be deleted.
Thank you for your help and cooperation in this matter.

Thanks for updating me on that i wasnt aware of that rule but it does make sense ... if a mod feels its right to close this thread please do so i just thought a thread for everyones favourite ROM would be a good thing. Each ROM would get a mention in the list for what its best used for according to the posts here and would be updated regularly. I havent seen a chef post what there ROM is best at so i personally think this is needed and it would save others having to try all the ROM's on here like i and others have done ... i guess its like a musician or an artist, a chef cant tell you what there ROM does best, only the users can.

[Q] Whats your favorite battery saving roms? (SGH-I777)

I was just curious to what are some of the better battery saving roms out their. I have a samsung galaxay s 2 i777 and after the dreadful 2.3.6 update my phones battery dies before the end of the day (thats if i dont use it) and withing 12 hours if i use it through the day. Im looking for a flashy rom that does not take up to much battery life anything better than this 2.3.6 att update would be great. So what is your favorite battery saving rom, and why?
sorry, but this thread is going to die...
why's that, this is a general question after all.

Unfortunately, the mods don't like people getting into spitting matches over which ROM is better. Typically they will spiral out of control.
Your best bet is to just peruse the forums and try multiple ROMs and find what is best for you.

ROMs are like girlfriends, you can pick the good looking one, but that does not mean that she wont nag. Younger is not always better.
I have been in a quest for this very thing and I can tell you that so much depends on your usage patterns, applications you install, and other stuff, that there is no perfect solutions.
Given where you are, I would go to this thread and read as much as you can. Probably the single best place to learn how to figure out the root cause and the strength/weakness of a ROM base:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1308030
So to answer you with my personal view is that:
- I cannot use the Hellraised ROMs due to my requirement to have password
- Many have had good experience with Hellraised ROMs, so if you do not have that restriction (PIN or PW), I would try that
- So from the i777 base, the best battery life for me came from UnNamed 1.3.2 with DD kernel. I still have significant battery problems, but that gives me the best

Ya, these threads dont usually produce good wholesome conversations... it usually turns into a popularity contest and different Devs dont like to see that.
However, for battery saving, there is a good thread going on here with awesome data.

What is the best custom rom for honor 5x ?

hello
i need rom haven't lagg and nice battery life
thanks
1. go to the ROMs section,
2. look at the threads, read commentary,
3. flash what looks like best idea, test it.
4. if ROM is good, stay on it; if not, go back to 1
5. stop creating unecessary topics.
6. Success.
No, really, asking questions like this is so frustrating. I moved from device which had like 3 AOSP ROMs, it was such a limited choice and people still asked which one is better instead of testng and finding what works best for them. Gorramnit. Don't be lazy, what's good for me or someone else maybe isn't good for you.

I need to know something about camera quality (HDR etc), no lag or battery life to and we need that informations if someone test custom roms.
We don't have time to waste to read each post and thinking about what is better in some rom than other roms...
If you can help us, help us ...
I would recommend RR OS

Now back to english: Noone can tell you what's good for you, except yourself. I like barebone, nearly AOSP stuff, with constant updates and improvement and official support, which means it's with zero hastle, so anything except Lineage is a no-go in my case. Somebody else likes themes, bells and whistles, so that person would recommend something different. That's why comment sections are there - you can see how ROM is performing, possible bugs, what to take care of, and, more important - ROM features. You don't have to read all, use search and/or check last 10 pages for bugs, and you're good to go. Or even search for this same theme, I think this is 3rd or 4th thread with same question.
Yes, not everyone have the same taste
Try cosmic ROM. Been using it as a daily driver since a month. Good battery life and smooth ROM. Camera isn't any different. Its same as any camera app found in other ROMs.
RR is the best
