Hi (maybe it is wrong forum) !
My original Toshiba TV remote controller is broken and all buttons on TV are Blocked so I need cab that has a MENU button so i could change the button locks on tv
(sorry for bad english )
why dont you just go buy a 2 dollar universal remote that will work with your tv if you just need to change a few settings. Does your phone even have an IR port that would allow you to change channels on your TV? I think the last phone I had that had one was my palm treo 650 years ago.
Good luck though!

hey guys
dont know if anybody has explained that but its possible to create one remote for all (with most common used commands)
in my case i control my sagem iptv stb, onkyo av reciever and my samsung LE46C750
create a remote with manual adding comands and use the remote from device of ur needs
example
sagem remote for channel up,down,epg,...
onkyo remote volume up, down, sound modes,...
samsung only the menu, input and dvb input...
try it it works too with oldern devices, maybe some parents active here, the tablet is the ultimate parental control ^^
I think it's a good idea. Universal remote for basic commands then just register the device by itself for more complex commands.
Now we need a way to trick it to do macros. I'll need one icon tap that'll turn on my Sat receiver, amp, and TV, as well as sets them to the proper inputs for that activity. Another icon to tap for my BlueRay player, amp, and TV. Etc.. Until then my Logitech Harmony wins the Sofa award.

^ +1 agreed. Macros would make this unbeatable!
Hmmm... I used to have a 20 something dollar sony remote that was programmable for macros. I wonder if that eoyuld work in this case...although my hrmony app for google tv does the job just fine.
There will be an update coming for the remote software either later this year of beginning of next... In the mean time, to set up one universal remote you can just add a device, sect learn from remote, choose "other" then teach it controls from all your other devices and label the buttons what you like, takes time but saves switching between devices.
What if I send a all ready made "macro signal" from my logitech multi remote to the tablet for example the on/off button?
try it out!
I tried to send a macro command to the sony tablet from my harmony remote that should turn my tv on switch it to hdmi, turn on my popcorn hour and turn on my stereo. It recognised the command but only applied the first 2 steps.
So i think the tablet is able to learn macros but not on several devices.....
Sent from my Optimus 2X using XDA App
Hello everyone, exist a tv b gone (off tv) for this tablet?
Huh? The TV B Gone is a separate device and has nothing to do with the tablet. As for using the Sony's IR transmitter, there is no off button that will cycle the codes as you seem to be looking for, but just using the Remote Control app's Register New Device and giving the correct brandname will usually give you a functional power button.
I am not able to control my DirecTV HD-DVR using HTC TV app. I can control my TV. Any idea ?
Thank you in advance...
Idiot check that your DTV box remote has been added. If you can control the channels then you should be able to control the DVR.
If your channel button works but your DVR does not, reprogram it. Even if some buttons work (power on/off) the full remote might not. Select "no" when asked and try the next config.
If that doesn't work you can always use the app to reprogram play/pause/rewind/ff manually.

Under Power and Input section... I see TV and DIRECTV Cable Box -- On/Off options. Does that mean DTV box remote has been added ??
I cannot control channels...I can't change with CH+/- button or input numbers directly.
When I say I can control TV...I meant...I can control volume, change TV channels (not directv), change inputs, etc.
Start from scratch, create a new remote. When you create the new remote, check the boxes for anything that you have in that room (TV, satellite box, possibly surround sound receiver). Follow all the steps, it will ask you about your TV first - then it will ask questions about your box like who built it (I don't know who builds directtv boxes, but my cable box is built by cisco - their logo is on it somewhere). Again, follow all the steps, test every button, and for what doesn't work have your original remote handy so you can teach it the remaining buttons (settings - button setup. After you've gone here, tap a button that doesn't work on your phone the way you think it should, point the IR blaster on your original remote towards your phone and press the button you're trying to program on your original remote. The phone will read what it's doing and remember it).
At some point it should also ask you who your provider is. This only affects the TV guide portion of the program, not the remote function.
You can add remotes (settings - add remote) for other rooms in your house (maybe you have a different model TV in your bedroom and your DIRECTTV box doesn't have DVR). That's about it!

I'll try to redo it again once I get home. Thank you for your help.
I feel like the key is that after TV setup when it comes to cable box...I chose DIRECTV (it was listed as an option under Top Brands) instead of mfr of the box itself. I will have to go home and see the box to find out who is the mfr of it.
also make sure your DTV box isn't in RF mode. Some of them support RF and when using that mode it turns off IR input
I have DTV HD DVR and mine works flawlessly. Unless your box is really old (even then it should probably work) you probably messed up in the set up process somewhere...
Reprogramming is the first step. Channel buttons, Menu, etc should all work. DVR is in another 'page' on the remote app and will work if the others do.
thank you all...now it's working !!:good:
Problem was that my DTV receiver was set to use RF mode. I changed it to IR and now the app works as expected...
Greetings fellow XDA members,
I was wondering if anyone else had this problem, or maybe Im doing something wrong. I set up the IR blaster with the HTC One native TV app on my Toshiba TV and Comcast Cable Box. Everything works fine, but the TV remote seems to be missing the 'INPUT' toggle, which is to be used to change the input on the tv between HDMI ports. I searched through settings, and saw an option where i could teach it inputs from my regular TV remote, and it easily learned the button, but still the 'Input' toggle does not show up on my TV remote. It seems very peculiar since my GS4 showed it out of the box, and it is one of the most common inputs i use. I wondered if it has anythign to do with my TV model, but i dont want to change it incase it stops working completely.
Please let me know if anyone had the same problem or if its User Error here Cheers
Hi folks,
I bought a USB IR receiver today with the thought of using it to control my MK808B, which is an anroid stick that connects to a TV via HDMI. I had in mind some kind of app that would learn commands from any remote (old TV remote, etc.) and map them to android functions (up, down, enter, vol+, etc.). Does something like this exist? If not, can it be done a different way?
For reference, this is the IR module I bought: http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2909658&CatId=2688
Thanks for your advice!
