[Q] Fell for HTC HD2 WinOs BS - NEWBIES FOR DRIOD OS - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone. I am a complete idiot when it comes to phones so I thought I was doing well when I shelled out some cabbage for the HTC HD2 only to find that the WinOs SUX! Thats how I found this site. I am wondering if anyone can provide step by step video / detailed instructions on the best driod os for a tmobile usa htc hd2 with updated rom. My knowledge stops at turning the phone on so all the talk about radio and rom changes etc is foreign. I am stuck with this phone now and need some help. Again, sorry for being an idiot and I thank you for any guidance you can give.

By updated ROM I mean that I have the updated rom supplied by tmobile....2.13.531.1 (90963) WWE...radio 2.10.50.26.....OS version....5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)

welcome to the forum; everything you need to know is DEF here......now with that said I have to be the first to say that nobody is going to be inclined to help you until you read up and educate yourself first a little bit. people go through the trouble of writing tutorial and making stickies for the soul purpose of informing people (such as yourself) with limited/minimal knowledge. do yourself a favor and take a little bit to familiarize yourself with your phone and read as much as you can and I'm sure that whatever questions you might have about getting started will be found. as far as which android os is better, well that's subjective. your best bet is to flash and try any and all and form your own opinion. good luck and welcome again.

just to help you get started...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y0YK1IqjB0
and as the above stated...do some reading first before starting threads. Most often than not...people have been in your shoes before..all you gotta do is search. And Welcome, and good luck with your phone endeavors!

Use either darkstone sence or hdfroyo from darkstone by far best android builds. I got the crazy robot voice during calls with 2.13 tmo us rom. I would use one of the custom roms people on here sugest. Or do what i did and install the previois tmo us 2.10 rom. All can be found on this site. Look around there are plenty of guides and search on youtube there are videos on there also. Just a note android is much better than win mo but the builds are about 95%. They all still have some small issues, bluetooth not working, compass os wacky ect. But very useable as an everyday os. Goes on sdcard so your NOT replaceing win mo. If you restart the phone youll be back in win mo and have to start android again but its a simple prosess and there are android launcher apps on this site that will give u a win mo icon to launch android in one click. Pretty slick. Just do some reading you be ok.
Sent from my HTC HD Droid 2 using XDA App

1. Go to HD2 ROM Forum
2. Install HSPL3 (Hard SPL)
3. Install New Radio (Not required - but please pay attention - reading required!)
4. Install New ROM - I recommend ChuckyROM, VB, or Energy (need WWE)
5. Select Android Build and download
6. Don't expect Miracles
7. ???
8. Profit!!

Also....
You can't just simply "upgrade" the WM rom. You still need it to run the android rom, just like the fellows above said, read up on it and you will get going soon.

Comming from a Blackberry and looking for WM6 (I know the "official" version is not out yet) I have an AT&T 8525. I see alot of variations in this forum so I was hoping to get very stable version of WM6.
Sorry I know this is probably easier than I am making it out to be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best option: test several and then decide.
Alternate option: pick any basic current release. Most newer one's are quite stable. By and large, they are built from the same core. Stability is not really a major issue anymore for most. Schaps, vp3g, funkey, TNT, shamanix, austinsync, dutty... you really cannot go wrong. I am sure I left some off, but I have tested the ones above. Just make sure you get the most recent releases, which will be obvious from the posting date and from the comments. With an 8525, you may have better luck with a "cingular optimized" rom, like vp3g, but really it is hard to wrong at this point in the development cycle.
Thanks, Do I just place the RAR file in my synch file folder? and synch it up.
If you on AT&T do yourself a favor and dont install any other ROM but vp3g's..

Download the rar extract it on your pc.
Connect to active sysnc and run the exe
Follow the instructions when prompted
If you are like me coming from WM 5 You probably want to upgrade your radio as well. The redio upgrage is the exact same process and pretty much the exact same screens except you are upgrading your phones communication signal. I will come back to this post and give some links
I would recomment vp3G as well. I am running it and it is fantastic, he also gives some great add ons
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334946
The radio i am using is
http://rapidshare.com/files/60589318...1.54.07.00.rar
I am in the LA area and it works well here. After upgrading your radio you will need to wait a little while for full speed, I did anyway. Actually i reloaded rom after rom and it wasn't until i got frustrated and PUT THE PHONE DOWN did i notice it was at normal download speed
There in ies my problem how to execute the RAR?

Hi,
Like so many things in life its down to personal choice.
What works for others may not work for you.
Its a case of trying them out and finding which works best for you.
If you are adventurous and prepared to live with some early issues then try something like CloudyFa ShadoW 2.0 TE
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364430
Or you could try Korands versions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366313
If you are less adventurous and are happier to go with an older but more stable environment then try CloudyFas ShadoW 1.0 TE.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=353661
Thats the one I use and for me its 100% rock solid. No issues of any type up to now and I have been using it for a week.
But at the end of the day its what works for you. Try them, they are easy to switch between but be sure to follow the guidelines on the stickies at the top of the forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350033
and follow 3 basic upgrade preparation rules :-
i) Backup your old device
ii) Backup your old device
iii) Backup your old device
And also make sure you have your original ROM image to go back to incase of difficulties.
There will never be a perfect ROM that will suit everyone. Some people like clean versions, others don't.
Have a play and follow the guides and try them out. Unless you do something really really bad there is always a route out of your problem but if you follow the guide to the letter
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350033
and be sure to do as people advise you will be fine.
Have fun and good lick,
Radar
thanks a lot I will try

need a Android ROM for Touch Cruise 2 Iolite

Iolite had the same configuration with G4 Tattoo .
Everybody who can make a Android ROM for Touch Cruise 2 Iolite?
flying12818: No. The same configuration doesn't mean that both devices are 100 % similar. If you want android OS, you should buy android device.
There are reports in the haret discussion from people saying that they have Android running on their Iolite through Haret. No matter what I have tried I can't get this working, personally I have given up on the idea of Android on my phone, just have to wait for my upgrade to be available from O2..... Damn 18 month contracts!
Mark
Some WM devices have android running......see start screen of today....but it requies some development......have not seen any reliable attempt......perhaps somebody will put an effort in it.....till than we have to wait.

No, not possible...the mentioned thread is closed sofar......
there is infact one possebility.
some kind of developer processed an app that drops your windows mobile phone in a unix-console.
with some programming developers from all over the world managed to get Dolkin (androids kernel) to work.
you can download the distro's from websites like http://www.androidonhtc.com/ (pre 2.0 android systems) or http://connect-utb.com/index.php (check android ports on download page and follow instructions)
Thanks, somebody tried this?
well, what we 've done now is:
-Android On NANDolaris(touch cruise 1),Kaiser
-Android on Haret:Niki,Touc Diamond,Touch Pro,HD2,..............
But not touch cruise 2 yet
No point in reviving these old threads. If you want something done, start a new project to get things running on the Iolite.

[Q] How to install Android 2.2 on my DELL XCD28 2.1 Eclair?

I have an DELL XCD28 GSM with Android 2.1, i really wanted to know how to Upgrade to Android 2.2.
Dell does not going to release an Upgrade to 2.2 in future.
So what are the ways i can install Android 2.2 on my Device?
Thanks
I have also purchased dell xcd28. As it was the only android phone in my budget. Please let me know how to install froyo or gingerbread on my device. Dell is not providing any official updates for the device.
Please reply to this post as early as possible.
Hello,
I am aware that DELL is not going to provide any upgrade even for XCD35 they are not going to release anything, thats sad :-(
But XCD25 is actually ZTE Racer 2G model with extra facility of 3G added for DELL model. I searched for some ROM upgrade but only one ROM i found that too was for the chinese model of ZTE without EDGE support only 3G was working.
I finally decided instead of looking around and wasting time. i am gonna create my own ROM for my device. I am a developer and i can create my own custom ROM. So i just started the work and hopefully in a few weeks i may finish the ROM.
I will let you know about the ROM soon
Meanwhile get your device rooted and add some cool features to the 2.1 version. You can find many apps and utilities which you can add using rooted phone.
BUT DO THIS ONLY IF YOU ARE TECHNICALLY GOOD AT OWN TROUBLESHOOTING!
ALSO BACKUP YOUR ORIGINAL ROM(with rooted device) BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY CHANGES!
So good luck!
I would like to know how to root my phone and I am also looking for a free tethering tool through which I can connect to internet on my pc. I am a Windows Client Administrator and just know a bit about android development.
Rooting for android device is easy but its a bit technical
follow these steps below:-
1.download z4root from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
2.After rooting your device DONT FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR ROM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY CHANGES!
3. For backup using NANDROID!
I have fully tested the above steps and its working 100%
Good Luck!

Zofus u r d man... keep up d good work... share the created rom for xcd28 with us.... Thanx....
Just Opened my Eye
Hello Everyone,
I just saw a video about Android Security from Kasperksy Lab in YouTube
But, After seeing this video about Android Security from Kaspersky Lab I realised how dangerous rooting and loading custom rom maybe, I personally had this question with me as i was developing the ROM as it completely pulls the security out of your device.
Android Malware attacks are in the news now. So its better being safe then sorry
So I have decided not to release the Custom ROM to public and also i am stopping the Development of the ROM.
Also i am not saying that you should not root your device and do other cool stuff with it. Its solely up to you. Finally its your Android Device!
Good Luck!

Flash custom ROM
Video with links to files, and other hopefully useful info. FOR A SOLUTION!
I had a really long post with useful info containing an answer maybe not "the answer" Wanted me to instead post a comment.. Below are the instructions on how to do it according to a Youtube Video I found. While I haven't tried this method, It looks sound to me, they've included all the files needed in a link to MEGA. I'll re-share without the password / decryption key if the poster agrees only.. I do highly suggest Phoenix ROM if you're on a kltevze, it come included with eveyrthing you're looking for and I've used it before In fact, I tried it last night but was unable to get into my phone past the boot password screen I think because the system ui kept crashing. while I have used this version, I may try twelve, since I prefer AOSP or LOS based roms, I want as light as possible maybe even removing google and going with MICRO G which I used fairly successfully for over a month, It isn't perfect, sometimes the location addon apps crash, but there are many, and it may just be that the ones I was using crashed, and not the ones you need yourself.. But MICRO G is worth the piece of mind to me coming from an encrypted phone, No I have nothing to hide really but Alphabet/Google already know enough about me through the use of their "FREE and Very Handy I might add, Services Ahem) By the way, Phoenix can be used with either an unlocked bootloader or safestrap if not.. Just get the right one.. I may end up going with a rooted deodexed TW rom, and add xposed to get the features I love from RR and other LOS based ROMS. With further ado, heres the link to the youtube instructional video I found, I really wish it was written out or could simple installed as a flashable zip which shouldn't be hard to make, but it is what it is for now.. And again seems correct to me if you don't want o go with a custom rom like Phoenix for kltevzw.
Well upon testing the Youtube link didn't play so here it is both Title for searching and another link. Install Galaxy S7 Touchwiz on S5! (Marshmallow) /URL]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsiKG98GVBA
I used Heimdal to flash to a more recent factory TW before flashing Phoenix which requires at least PB1. I think. Check their OP under user JKRUSE or near the top of the VZE dev thread.
This is Heimdal as found in synaptic from a buntu based distroand should be the same in any Debian based or any other distro for that matter as I've found it in many repos for different distro's, I think a ppa is available with newer builds, but don't hold me to that.
Heimdall <- commandline version.
Heimdall is a tool for flashing firmware (aka ROMs) onto Samsung Galaxy S
devices over a USB connection. It accomplishes this using the same
protocol as Odin, Samsung's internal Windows-only firmware updater.

And of course there's a GUI too.. heimdall-flash (1.4.1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

If I do either agian soon, I'll report back with results. Again, I know Phoenix worked fine. But I'd imagine a plain TW rooted ROM that you debloat yourself and maybe add Xposed for many features found in Phoenix and in AOSP/LOS based ROM's such as RR/CR-DROID for those who prefer additional tweaking and other enhancements. Again I trouble just last night with the latest V15 of Phoenix on boot and don't know why other than my fully ecnypted device and password on boot feature But either way again if you test before me let me know the result as well. I do need a new battery for mine since it's the one it came with but that's a story for another thread, when I bought my S5 last spring for beans, (with the unlockable BL, I had to have it since my S3 had died. and I couldn't afford a new phone) and I could easily get a day plus when service is good with about 4+ hours SOT. But lately I'm using charging by the end of the day. Haven't decided yet on a stock Sammy battery or a more expesive, Thicker, heavier, but much longer lasting extended battery.
Sorry for such a long winded post. All my posts are this way if you know me. I do apologize and need to be more brief but I'm more of a lurker and searcher for what I need to know and post very seldom especially with this much what I think could be useful to someone.
If it happens to be useful please hit the "Thankss" button, it could help here, and even when looking for a job as I am... Hahahaha.. Getting laid off work blows in my area of the country.
Thanks and Happy New Year to all those who celebrate it during this time of year, if not Happy New Year when it arrives and I wish the best for everyone on the Planet. Stay informed and don't believe everything you read/hear/watch... #NoAgenda #ITM.
griz.
