I have downloaded several sound files which I would like to use for "Notifications" email/sms etc. but I don't see those files when I go into
Settings - Sound and Display - Notification ringtone.
Do I need to put them in some specific folder structure or what?
thank you
If you are rooted, the stock notification sound location is:
/system/media/audio/notifications/

There's no need to stick notification and ringtone sounds in the system path though...
/media/audio/notifications/ and /media/audio/ringtones/ on the internal SD works fine too...And this doesn't require root...though root is so easy to obtain on these phones that it's hardly a distinction to care about...

I'm using MagicLocker, which allows some customization, but the sound is still there. I'm sure you could use Root Explorer to remove/rename the sound file that is used, if you knew what it was. I don't.
Found it.
/system/media/audio/ui
Delete/rename Unlock.ogg and Lock.ogg. No side-effects do far.
Sent from my SCH-I500
Yeah renaming the luck and unlock sounds worked for me, no adverse effects yet either
So, I've been using the quick circle case. I like it, but I have to scroll through those bs apps to get to what i need. I'll never use them (I don't use stock music player, and settings and download more open up inside the phone, stop no point), but I can't deselect them from the circle apps. My phone is rooted, is there a way to remove/deselect them from my quick circle?
As I know, those are the default apps that are not allowed to deselect.
Too bad. To be honest I would be more than happy to remove most of default ones as Im using difrent apps.
I wonder is there any custom app that can handle quickciecle ?
I got rid of music by disabling, camera would be the same, don't know about settings and the download more sorry.

I found a tool that allows you to change that but only works with root.
Can you please share:laugh:
If i root it and install the app/tool and it works ill make sure to post it.
How do I add and use custom notification sounds to the LG V30. I don't like any of the stock notification sounds. Thanks
Try this, for the notification sound, place the sound in /sdcard/Notifications (create new folder if it not exist). For ringtones, in /sdcard/Ringtones.
Hope it works, cause it works in mine.
Thanks

Did you reboot? Mine didn't recognize the new tone (for an alarm) until I rebooted the phone.
Perhaps rebooting is necessary for the OS to scan and repopulate the media. If it works you dont have to install 3rd party app, since android should already give you this basic feature. Screenshot of mine attached.

Worked great but be patient after rebooting: changes appeared a few minutes later in my LG V30. Thanx Hikku13.
Hey guys,
if anyone wants the iOS10 default ringtone and some well known Apple notification sounds, I made 2 zips I extracted from Alexis ROM. (Galaxy S6)
Note: There is only one ringtone available, since the original mod doesn't provide any others
If you want the default ringtone (most common one on Apple devices, you will know it for sure), just download iOS10 ringtones.zip below and extract the folder with Root Explorer (or any other root-file commander) in
Code:
/system/media/audio/ringtones
and give the ringtone permission 0644 (rw-r-r). Reboot phone, select the ringtone in settings (called "Opening") and enjoy. :good:
Same for notifications: download zip, and extract it to
Code:
/system/media/audio/notifications
and give all notifications 0644 (rw-r-r) permisision also.
If this was helpful for you, I would be happy if you hit THANKS :highfive:
Credits go to the awesome dev @AlexisXDA
Be aware, this is a repost of an old thread I made in s7 themes section. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/themes/ios-10-ringtone-notification-alarm-t3564399)

Since we're still unable to flash files, you have to un-zip the downloaded file and follow my steps which I've given in my first post.

It's possible. It just takes more work.
Hey bro thanks a lot! This was greatly appreciated cos even though I prefer android for pretty much everything, ios has the best ring and text tones imo and all the mp3s out there you can download are trash quality. Thanks so much for this!!!!!! I literally couldn't find this anywhere else on the web!!!!
This was helpful for me, thanks. I know where to download free ringtones for phones.
I want to do a simple thing - change the notification tone in Whatsapp to be different than the system default tone.
I go to Whatsapp settings and tap the notification tone, I select 'audio files' to view system tones but I get an empty list.
Im with Miui 10.2.3 official global version and all Whatapp permissions are enabled.
It is really frustrating as I see no documentation for this anywhere and saw no one that complains about it but me. Found no similar thread anywhere.
Any thoughts?
You can complete the action using File Manager and select whatever the Audio File you want.
I'm not sure but one of these extensions should work .Mp3 .M4a .Ogg

Using File Manager didnt work.
Found out the solution is completing the action using 'Themes'. As weird as it sounds....
Thanks anyway
How did you change the notification sound using 'Themes'? I'd really appreciate you taking me though this, it's been driving me crazy for ages!

You go to Whatsapp Settings > Notifications > Hit 'Notification Tone' (either under Messages or Groups section) > Select 'Themes' when asked to 'Complete The Action Using'.
Let me know if that helped you or not
I had the same issue and it has nothing to do with updating to latest MIUI version. If you have already updated all your system apps, then just uninstall updates of the "Themes" app and the issue will be solved. Apparently the issue is caused by the new update of "themes" app.

As I mentioned above - Themes was the solution, not the problem I mean, I didnt realize at first that the notification tones are accessible via Themes.
