Has anyone had a problem getting all your FaceBook contacts? I seem to have everyone except my mother... I've tried to sync a million times, and it says it's fine, but she isn't there. When I start the FB app, I'm able to find her, but she's not coming in when I sync, and I'd really like her profile pic.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

Y dont u ask ur mum? Bad joke. I have a missing contact on facebook for sense. Cant get him on there at all. Desire 2.2 unrooted.

My info: Samsung Vibrant Touchwiz. I'm missing one FB contact that I know of.
I too am missing a few. Don't know why. Current rom is stock with root.

I got a new Vibrant and re-imported my FB contacts. My mom is now in but my friend Marie is out.
I sure wish this worked properly.
Not sure what the issue is but I've had the same issue the only way I have found to fix this is to do this.
Home --> Settings --> Accounts and sync --> Click on Facebook --> Remove Account.
Then Add Account --> Facebook --> Next --> input id & pw --> Login --> select sync interval --> next --> Done
Not the best solution but it works for me.

For some reason I do not find all my FB contacts to link contacts of my HD2?
I do not what causes that but my FB application and HD2 when trying to link user to fb user... it doesn't find all my fb friends... I have about ~250 friends...
Are you trying to link your contacts to their fb accounts?
The HD2 automatically links contacts to their fb profiles if their names match. If their names do not match you will have to link them manually by selecting the contact --> edit contact --> Associate with facebook account (scroll to bottom)
(Note: some people have said it can also link by email address, but I have had no success with this)
Or do you mean that some fb friends do not appear in the associate list? I have had this issue a couple of times, try restarting the device or logging out and back into facebook via accounts manager?

This one... and all my friends are also invible in FB app v1.1.0.17.
And... I've tried reset and restarting my device soooo many times to get this working...
Hmm... accounts manager?? My bells are not ringing?
Account manager: Start --> Settings --> Connections--> Account Manager
Also try Settings Tab --> Data Services --> facebook --> tick Download data Automatically
Also try finding profiles over WiFi as opposed to 3g?

Damn don't work... I've about 280 friends and in list where I can choose contact for linking I see only 196 contacts...

Damn... after updating ROM to Energy_Sense 18.9 version I still do not have ability to sync all my contacts to facebook contact. Sense only see 195 FB contacts.
I've been having the same problem for a few months now. I've got a stock HTC Pure and I'm using the ordinary Facebook app downloaded from MS Marketplace.
When the HTC Sense tries to link a contact on my phone with one of my FB friends, not all my friends show up in the list, even after refreshing. Brand new friends just added show up, but a small handful of existing friends are not in the "Link Profiles" list.
Also, those same friends are not showing up in the Facebook app. When I view my friends list, they are simply not there, as if we're not even friends. Even weirder, if I search for those friends by name or email or phone #, no results appear. So I can't view their wall or profile or anything.
Another weird thing about this is that if one of those friends sends me a message through FB, it shows up in my message section of the app, but there's no name next to it, and no profile pic (just the generic pale blue head icon). If one of those friends posts on my wall, their words show up in the app but there's no name or pic beside the post.
I tried everything from updating the app to hard resetting the phone, but still the same problem. We tried entering the city in the employer section like someone mentioned already, but that had no effect.
Anyone else have these issues? Any resolutions yet?
I'm having similar problem today, but using the method: Start --> Settings --> Connections--> Account Manager, logout the FB. Then go back to FB on sense to login, everything back to normal.

The facebook app that comes with the phone isn't really an app, it is just friendstream, no? When I signed it, it downloaded ALL of my contacts instead of just those with a matching entry in my phone which I can do with the Facebook app. How do I change that?

can you not find the official facebook app in the market? I personally use Bloo as my FB Client and just sync my FB contacts through Settings > Accounts & Sync > Add new > Facebook
I can but want to understand what the integrated solution does

Add Facebook or Facebook for myTouch? Regular Facebook doesn't do anything when pressed. Facebook for myTouch doesn't give me the option.

Use facebook for mytouch, after doing that wait for some time and it will notify you that you havd contactd simmilar to your fb account and if you wanna sync them

Go to your contact list, click menu and view. It will let you decide which acccounts you want it to show in your contact list.
Facebook for Mytouch never syncs contacts for me, it gives me the "sync is having problems now" message. Anyone experience this?
Mine worked fine but there is an option under the contacts settings to make only contacts with phone numbers show. That is really nice.
I disabled this cause even when I select use google pic, some how a few contacts would still revert to facebook over time. Too frustrating for me.
Now that we have perma root... does anyone know if removing the facebook for mytouch app will cause any problems? I would like to pull it off and put on the market version. I plan on making a backup and trying it myself but was wondering if anyone had any insight before I try.

With the SGS 2 I wasn't given that option, so now I have like 300 extra people in my Contacts list that I will never call, and a good number of them don't even have phone numbers... So is there a way to filter which friends are synced?

Go to contacts... then menu button...then more button..then select display options
in the pop screen which comes up...tick the box showing ..only contacts with phone numbers...
click done...
now if you go back to contact listings..it will only show contact with phone numbers...including...facebook/gmail/yahoo etc sync ones
edit : Ok not exactly what you wanted, but i dont see anyother way

Thanks, that's good to know. Problem is, that hides any "real" contacts that don't have phone numbers and shows ANY Facebook friend, so long as they have a number.

Go to Contacts--> Press capacitive button for more(the one on the left ) click more
then click "Display Options"---> Select Contacts to display and uncheck the ones you don't want to show up

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I synced all my accounts yesterday and it was working great for about 3 hours and then it tells me "sync is experiencing problems right now" What is happening? Is there a fix for this?
Having 2 small problems with the sense 3.0 rom. My facebook contact pictures wont completely sync, i have about 15 people that no matter what i do it wont pull a picture for, i've tried clearing caches, deleting accounts and it won't work. I had the phone completly setup up in rc1 and didnt notice that issue. The other thing is i have an app or 2 i lose the right icon for on one of my screens, it turns into the android default for an app, but it still works fine.
hector48, have u tried manually syncing the contact to the respective facebook account? like, go to people, select the contact, click the link "(--)" button in the top right corner, choose facebook for htc sense, and select the contact? i've had the same issue where a certain amount of contacts won't sync no matter how many times i sync it, so i had to do it manually like that. hope this helps!
I have the same problem with one app on my homescreen that changes to the default icon. I have not looked into it yet but maybe its a problem with the app being on the sd card or something like that.
I tried what you said still no go, i can pull up the profile through friendstream or the contact card but it wont pull a pic ><

Hmmm, which facebook are you using to sync? Are you using the regular/Android Facebook or did you set up the Facebook for HTC Sense? I think the one for htc sense works better, but you have to set it up manually by going to settings --> accounts & sync --> add account and add facebook for htc sense.
The sense Facebook
On other versions of BAMF, I had the same issue.
Fix Permissions messed up the contact jpg permissions.
There is a thread that details how to fix this.

I just changed to a new Galaxy S3 last weekend and there's still an issue that I have not been able to solve. When I go to the contacts app, contacts appear linked to their Facebook profile, but I cannot see their picture. In the synchronization options my Facebook account seems to be well added and the "Sync contacts" option is ticked. I just want every contact to appear with their FB picture the same way it used to happen in my already retired HTC Desire.
Any help with this?

i couldn't get this to work with the facebook app (which was the only reason i downloaded it) so instead i tried an app called "syncmypix" which did the pictures > contacts sync perfectly

CONTACT SYNC into the PLAYSTORE is for FREE and you can chose huge picture size!
Is there no way to get FB contact phone numbers (if they're on there) without using the official FB app (which doesn't seem to work)?
Try to delete the facebook sync and re-do it. Not sure if that will help.
Longshot: Delete the facebook app cache.
Thank you all for your replies. Most of them are the things a "more or less experienced user" would have done and, because of this, I had already tried them...
Using either "Haxsync" or "Contact Sync" there are still some contacts that I don't get well synchronized...
I have also tried to edit some contacts manually via my Gmail account adding the HTC Data type information that is supposed to link contacts with Facebook (lines lika <HTCData><Facebook>id:XXXXXXXXXX/friendof:YYYYYYYY</Facebook></HTCData>) but not even this way I've had success...
It's unbelievable how such a simple thing can bring so much trouble...
Ok, here's what I did to finally solve it.
With Haxsync, synchronize automatically the contacts the app recognised itself.
With Haxsync, synchronize all my other Facebook contacts. There's an option to do that, you have to select all your contacts from a list, one by one.
Link manually these contacts synchronized in previous step.
With Haxsync again, assign each contact it's HTC Facebook ID.
Now, with Contact Sync, do a synchronization with the "Sync by HTC Facebook ID" option ticked.
Done!
If you have a tidy list of contacts in Gmail, every one of them with its HTC Facebook ID, there's no way it can go wrong!
I use Facebook Contact Sync - might be better or worse than Haxsync, not sure - but it's free. It works but you have to do some manual labor to set it up. It could use some more features and support from the dev but at least it does the job...unlike the Facebook app...which is a total disappointment with syncing.

I've spoken with some devs about this and it's not possible because Facebook only allows addons to see/pull certain pieces of information. Birthdays, for example, can be set to private by FB users and so addons cannot pull that data - some people have it public so it works sometimes. I believe phone numbers are just completely off limits.
This works in Wifi connection only using the official facebook app.. It will not immediately load all the images specially if you have lots of friends but it will load it all.. If not try to clear your facebook app cache and data...
Using only mobile connection facebook is a failure, all the problems will start if you are in mobile connection :cyclops:

I have always tried the sync process with Wifi connection and the official FB app won't sync a single picture... It links most of the contacts and makes them appear with the FB logo, but it does not load the picture...

Wifi connection works for me... try clearing the data and cache of facebook or better reinstall the application then try to sync again using a wifi connection (make sure you clear the cache and data before uninstalling the app).. You may need to still wait for a while if you have lots of friend.
I'm only having problem if I use Mobile connection...
An additional question: do you know if we can make the contacts be shown with their Facebook name? This was possible with HTC Sense...
Im using the official Facebook for Android app and I have contact photos, phone numbers etc everything synching fine. And thats even with moving the data from one device to another.

My SGS3 doesn't have any issues either
What do u mean by manual labor?!... I am used to use this application on my HTC Desire and it was working fine but now it doesn't work... I face a problem after linking all the contacts that I can't make any calls or receive ... What type of configurations have you done ?! ...
Btw I tried this application on two different galaxy S3 device and I faced the same problem.

I have no issues and the best thing about that app are:
more function than original app
NO transferring of your SMS (unlike the original version from facebook, which does that)
nice UI
Make sure that contacts sync setting from facebook is enabled than try to logout from facebook app and log back on... It worked for me and now I have all my contacts pictures!
all the other applications doesnt sync numbers or emails from facebook only pictures !. can somebody tell me if there is a solution ? i tried all the posted solutions but non of them is working !
