How long does your battery last?
I pluged my phone into the charger to charge and took it out only this morning.
After about 10+ hrs, my battery has only 33% left!!
I know abt the problems with atom life's battery but it seems to drain too much power...
I'm using Medkid's PDAVIET Rom and installed only HTC Home plug in and HHC.
Sorry 4got to mention.
There was minimal usage and did not use phone. Less than 5 minutes ( juz switch on to see time etc).
check your cpu profile though,
also if u set to best for performance the battery drain real fast, plus any wi-fi and bluetooth will just kill it quick.
i think mine last longer than ya, last time i remember i went away for a night my battery still 40% the next morning.
but yep despite the powerful atom life, its baterry sux. hope other manufacturer could provide the same size battery with better power management.
Woah 60% drain for a whole day is way better den mine...
I got the power consumption think and the drain is about 220mA or so w/o doing anything
issit normal?
if you use xcpuscalar that could be reason... although you underclock your cpu, it has much bigger battery consumption so don't use it!
Don't keep your screen brightness on a high level.
I am running the OEM W6 ROM with the HTC Home Plug and my battery life is fine, and I am using 3G about 95% of the day.
Sometimes I need to charge it at night, sometimes I don't.
Original (supplied) battery can last for 18 to 20 hrs with less usage, meaning only call and sms. Have bought extended battery that can last for 2 days. Oh ya, my atom life have htc plugin and hhc, plus spb shell, pointui and touchcommander installed. I used clean WM6, download from O2 site, as I am uncomfortable with cooked rom.
Here's my today screen:
hmm.. can i found home plugin look like HTC ?? i want to download
For whatever reason my battery life is only being reported in 10% increments. Anyone have any idea as to why? AFAIK, it hasn't been removed, right? Searching didn't turn up anything.
Also my battery life seems shorter, but it could be the battery.
The backlight issue has been there for a while and I've tracked it down to installing HTCHome (the one from this forum) How can I fix this? Uninstalling seems to fix it and i've tried to save and recopy the exe and dll for the backlight, but recopying didn't work.
I haven't installed much recently except for the Diamond large start menu and Adobe 2.5 from the diamond. Further back I installed the 2.0 task manager with big buttons. But I don't know how long it hasn't been working right.
I'm using DCD 3.1.2 and radio 3.35 on an xv6800.
10% increments are the WM6 default. A special battery.dll was created [I believe by no2chem] and integrated in the previous DCD ROMs.. but for some reason it was pulled.
Battery life with 3.1.2 has been fine. It's your battery. Be sure to keep it well charged*, never let it dip below 30%! If you notice it's wearing thin -edit- it may simply be the indicator reading your battery incorrectly, in which case a full discharge / recharge will allow the phone to more accurately read the charge level. Regardless, your battery is under warranty and I suggest taking advantage of that and starting fresh with a strong initial charge.
Could you be more specific about this backlight issue?
*battery is optimally stored [for longest life] around 40% capacity.
The 1% battery dll was not added to 3.1.2 by accident. It's fixed in the next release. In the mean time, you can manually add it to the 3.1.2 kitchen by going into the 3.0.4 kitchen's OEM\OEMDrivers folder and copying the battery.dll and battdrvr.dll folders to 3.1.2 kitchen's OEM\OEMDrivers folder overwriting the ones in there.

I must comment on this with my questions because there are so many theories going around on what the proper way to handle this is...
first question.. you say don't let it go below 30%??? I thought it was GOOD to have it drained down to nothing every once in a while then doing a full charge?
second question.. DEEP charge? 24-48hours? seriously? I know it's good to always start with a full charge on the battery but does it really matter going beyond the full mark (a few hours I think?)...
Reason I'm really curious about this is because I just had VZW send me a new battery but I haven't unpacked it yet because I wanted to make sure I had the time to give it a good initial charge (over night). I'm not so sure I can go 24-48hrs without my phone but if it really makes a difference I might consider it?
I've noticed on my phone once it hit's 30% itll drop to 0% fast and i cannot use my phone for a couple hours because it'll take forever to hit 5% to turn the radio on
Well, since you took me up on it I am doing some academic research on the mechanisms Li-ion batteries use..
I do work in a cellphone store, and had the following experience with my battery:
First battery, charging method was improper and under regular use lasted no more than 7 hrs resulting in multiple charges per day.
Replacement battery came in, and underwent a lengthy initial charge because I had a second titan handy. 48 hrs.
I was amazed to find my battery life at around 3 days regular use.
I kept my phone charge above 30-40%, charging _regularly_ [once all night, with occasional top-ups during the day] and find the capacity has not changed.
Take from that what you will. Certainly, the length of time I charged my battery initially was probably not strictly necessary, but.. I'll do some more research and report back.
FYI, the majority of people with dead batteries who walk into my store are typically under the impression the batteries need to be near-fully [or fully? which is it, huh?] drained before recharge.
Which is _incorrect_ as it is only NiCad & Nickel Metal-Hydride batteries that suffered the memory effect.
It is worth mention that my first battery was often dying, which only seemed to exacerbate the issue.
Most make the mistake of running it down because previous generations of batteries worked that way. I have a dock that I got months ago (can't remember from where, but you can find it on the forums) that charges the device and a spare battery in a 2nd slot at the same time. That gets around the issue of not having your phone while the battery charges.

battery.dll and 0% battery
I completely screwed up. I was messing with the battery.dll file and ended up witout any battery monitoring whatsoever, and I'm not sure if the battery is even charging.
I restored my most recent backup (Sprite) and the battery is still "no status"
I took the battery out and reset, no luck.
I tried to flash a new rom, and I get [error 220] "battery less than 50% ...."
I know that the battery is at least 80%, so I figured that the battery problem is not letting the RUU run.
Is there a way to bypass the RUU error's,
I just yesterday lost my spare SDcard that I used for flashing. So that's out.
The only card I have is an SDHC (4GB)
anyone have any suggestions???
My ignorance is once again confirmed. a simple hard reset fixed the trick.

It's a simple copy/paste. You copy the 2 folders out of 3.0.4 OEM\OEMDrivers and paste them into 3.1.2 OEM\OEMDrivers overwriting the current ones in there. Then you just cook your rom like usual and flash.

Jefferson - To bypass the RUU error - Put your phone in bootloader mode (POWER + CAMERA + RESET) Tricolor screen. Now plug the phone into the PC and run the RUU. It should run fine.....
GC - The RUU won't run with the phone already booted into windows cuz it tries to read the battery level and can't....

Oh right...it's been so damn long since I've flashed with an RUU I forgot it's dumb like that and needs 50% battery.

I guess the part about having to "deep charge" for 24-48hrs is not accurate...
http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-12.htm
Lithium-ion is a very clean system and does not need priming as nickel-based batteries do. The 1st charge is no different to the 5th or the 50th charge. Stickers instructing to charge the battery for 8 hours or more for the first time may be a leftover from the nickel battery days.

GC and other's thanks for the replies! I've been busy with school (NOW I"M DONE, for a while!!!) and then on vacation.
My titan seems to be having charging issues so it's going to verizon to be checked out.
Any ideas about HTCHome?
Oh yeah, the other thing:
WinMo couldn't be more annoying with it's battery warnings!!!! I swear half my low battery time is spent trying to shut em up.
Although NSFAN's ROM has extended my standby time to almost 3 days, I wanted to try and push for more "active" time when using the data a lot.
I know there are two different battery types, one with more cells crammed into the same size battery and another with an extended door. Has anyone tried either of these and what difference does it make?
Id like to know too
Id like to know to what extent these batteries will allow my phone to run. I am running on Vets beta 3 and it sucks life right out of my battery (not complaining because it is an awesome rom) but I have also considered getting an extended battery since I also try running XDAndroid which eats the battery for breakfast...
I have both a Seidio Extra Cell battery (normal size but 1800 mah) and a 3000 mah extended battery with extended door.
Let me start by saying I own about a dozen accessories made by Seidio for the Touch Pro and Touch Pro 2....and they are all great..... BUT I only see a 2-3 hour stand-by difference.
With the 3000 mah extended battery (which you should be able to find for ~$20 or so) adds a little more... about 5-6 hours...... BUT it gets really hot, and the battery % drops like a rock after about 60%.
The combination I suggest is getting the Seidio extra cell battery and use it with a battery saving program/reg. settings. Here is one I install after every new flash. (as far as I know it works with all WM Roms)
Hope this helps.
so... do you think that they are even worth it? I had the extended battery when I had the Apache (ppc6700) but since it was bought used, I thought that the batteries were loosing charge due to the previous use...
I would like to get one but if they do not show significant gains, there is no need for the money waste.
Hi everyone, this is my first ever post on the forums so don't be too harsh on me lol anyways, my question is what is the best ROM + radio + kernel combination to get the longest battery life out of my stock thunderbolt battery? Currently I am running DasBAMF 2.0-5 the MR2.5 radio and the dream kernel. I haven't really noticed a huge improvement in my battery life since I flashed this rom a few days ago. I have seen people who claim to be getting 10-15 hrs on one charge. I don't think I need that much because I charge overnight every night, but it would be nice to know how people do that. also, what are your thoughts on juice defender? thanks!
I am currently using CM7 R1.2 w/ the MR2 radio and I get very good battery life. 10 hrs plus with minimal use on the regular battery.
I've been running Gingeritis 1.0 with JuiceDefender Ultimate and I've been getting anywhere from 16-20 hours on the standard battery with regular use (facebook, email, words with friends, browsing, etc.). What I find most helpful with this rom is the brightness slider in the dropdown quick settings. Unless you're outside on a bright day or it's absolutely necessary, keep the brightness as low as you can comfortably use. I've found this to be huggee in the ongoing battle to get better battery life.
And if you can tolerate life without 4G, use an LTE toggle app to keep your phone on 3G. This also helps a lot.
i like the Inj3ctTh3ory rom so far.
It looks to me that all MR2 radios use more battery. The best battery performance for me was on BAMF 1.7 and MR1 radio. I would use 2 to 3% battery on standby overnight, with the phone on 3G. I am on BAMF 1.8.6 now with the OTA radio and the overnight battery usage is up to 10%. I will keep testing, but I think stripped MR1 ROMs have the best battery performance.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
BAMF 3.0 RC4, imo 3.4.0, OTA MR2 Radio... constant 40-45 hours on the extended battery.
How I maximized my battery
In terms of my battery I just wanted decent battery life without using a tone of extra apps to do it. I'm using the CM7 RC 1.2 with the MR2 Radio getting about 20+ hours of battery with standard use. I am not using Juice defender or any battery saver apps. I am just using Tasker to turn on and off my Wi-Fi when I'm not at home, because I hate doing manually
One thing I did do to maximize my battery life is after I flashed my new ROM I did the following after searching multiple forums for battery optimization methods
1. Charged my Battery to 100%
2. Did a Bump Charge Cycle 4 times, and then turned on phone
3. This step is probably key. Downloaded the Battery Calibration App. You can find the app in the Android Market.
4. Plugged in the charger until the Battery Calibration App read 100% and 4200+ mV. I found that even after bump charging my BW battery widget would say 100% and the led would be green. However when I go into the Battery Calibration App it would say 99% and the mV would be about 4160. I just plugged it in and waited about 30 - 45 minutes and it would finally be fully charged at 100% ~4200 mV.
5. Press the Battery Calibration button in the App to clear the batterstats.bin and unplug the phone. Do not shutdown or reboot.
6. Let battery drain completely without plugging it in (USB and AC)
7. After it completely dies Charged battery straight until 100% with no interruptions.
I'm getting good battery life without having to use juice defender or anything, and that's also with streaming bluetooth music everyday driving to and from work for a total of 1 hour. I also keep the radio at 3G the entire day unless I really need high speed data. And unless I'm in the car, Bluetooth is turned off. I'm pretty sure these steps should work on any rooted phone regardless of ROM.
I tried many different rom and kernel across the forum... I dun see any differences in term of battery life, just go with the one you love.........weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
My bolt gets better life running Ziggy's kernels for some reason. Not sure why, but it does. I've tried every sense ROM out there. +1 on the post above. Go with what works best for you and the way you use your phone.
courtesy of my rooted bolt
I've found cm7 (cm7 kernel) to have the best battery life for me, getting up to 28 hours with light use and no 4g. I find the auto-brightness on cm7 to work much better than on any other ROM I've tried, and for some reason all other ROMs drained the battery around 50x faster while idling. I can leave my phone unplugged overnight and expect to lose maybe 2-3%.
There certainly is no universal solution though. That is the only certainty
Whatever rom/s you test with...make sure you try various kernel versions (lean kernels mostly) to find what works the best.
I've tried them all,
GINGERTH3ORY V5.0 DreamKernel is my favorite one. it's super fast and very responsive.
Battery life is best on this one .
I use speedtweak batt saver ondemandx.
I'm on Bamf 1.8.6 remix right now with the OTA MR2 radio and getting about 14 hours on 3g all day and 8.5 hours if on 4g all day. Still looking for something better.
I have had a lot of luck with Inj3ctTh3ory. I have only had it now for two days but I'm already impressed with how long the battery has lasted. I have not experimented with any Kernel/CPU combo's yet but it's performing so well now I might not mess with it.
ROM and kernel linked in my sig. I'm using the 1.4GHz extreme UV with interactivex speedtweak, I love it. Bulletproof stability and with mild/moderate use I can make it through a 9hr work day with 50% left on the stock battery. 4G left on, everything syncs every hour. I don't get 4G coverage at work, I don't know if that helps or hurts, but I do leave it on.
I got my galaxy s2 (international version) about 4 months ago. Recently I've noticed some weird battery drain mostly when I restart my phone, but it happens other times just out of the blue.
It might be a software bug not showing the proper battery level, but I've attached pictures that show normal battery drain even after that jump down. Obviously, if it was a a software fault the battery percentage should remain level or go up slightly. (Yes the battery level does go up a bit, but I lose significantly more battery than I gain.)
This has happened in many instances and I've only got a screenshot of two. Sometimes I get big discharge and at other times its small. It's pretty annoying when you think you've got enough battery and go out, only to find the phones dropped 20-30% out of nowhere.
My phone is unlocked and not branded (bought from carphone warehouse UK- CPW). It's running stock XXKI4 firmware (2.3.4) and I'm not rooted.
So my question is, has anyone else seen this happen or have I got a faulty battery? Is there a fix?
Hi there,
Battery drain is one one the main argouments you can find in this forums. ATM I'm in your same condition: after latets ROM ugrade (I've got latest CheckROM release), my phone "sucks" al lot more battery than before.
A lot of things could affect this: themes, skin, kernel, application bug, bad battery checking and so on. There isn't a valid answer... I think you must indagate on yourself, comparing what you find with forum's infos!!
Good luck!!

There are several threads about battery drain.
For example here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16973603
Maybe you find a useful tip.
You have always test it on your phone under your conditions.
You can try to flash special (Custom) ROMs and kernels, which are optimized for better battery life, but as there are so many different influences on battery life, it is nearly impossible to find a general "fix" for all users and phones.
Good luck!
well at least yours lasts 15 hours, mine lasts at most 10 hours on heavy usage.
P.S. I am using 2.3.5
As to Anwser to those "drops" or "gaps" in the graph, just recently i noticed that my phone was working normally, i was monitoring its battery drain (i have a thread going on about it), and after some time of no using, after class, i noticed that my phone asks for my SIM PIN again, and is in Safe Mode (i dont really know what that it). When i checked the battery monitoring graph (battery info) i notice the absolutr same fall (from 70% to 40%), but i remember that i saw and used my phone at 60-50% too ! So i can only assume that the phone crashes, eighter reboots for some reason, and the data isnt saved (for example it saves the data every 2 hours or so), so there appears the "gap".
Thats simply my opinion, but i do remember using the phone at the % between the two extremes (IN the gap), so i guess the data wasnt saved.
EDIT: Ha! I'll add some pis now to show you guys this: so in my current history i have two gaps, one big, and one smaller before. So, the first time, i turned off the phone and PULLED OUT THE BATTERY aswell cause i wanted to check my batteries mAh (its 1650 but thats offtopic). Thats how the small gap appeared ! As for the big one, my phone seemed to crash and reboot while i didnt notice, because in an hour or so of no using i woke it up and it asked for the SIM PIN.
So there, i think the phone eighter crashes or doesnt manages to save the battery data, and those gaps ("falls") appear.
