So I've just got round to installing Opera 10 on the phone, slow I know but having done so, I think I know why I was being so slow to do so.
Basically every page I try to go to, I get "The service is overloaded or offline. Please try again later." So hit refresh and the page loads without issue. Move onto next page and get the same error message, hit refresh and it loads. How annoying is that? Any ideas on why this would do this every single time?
Does anyone have any ideas?
Do you use a proxy?
Try looking in operareferences
Perhaps a setting over there is troubling you.
No proxy being used.
Been through all settings, which are set to default. Opera 9.7 works fine on its default settings and can't see anything different between the two versions to suggest why 9.7 loads a page first time v 10 where I have to do a double load of every page to view it.
Except from the standard solutions like clean your history, your cache, your cookies, I cannot suggest any other solution.
Thanks Wilco. Unfortunately clearing everything (not that Opera 10 really had anything in it as haven't exactly used it yet) didn't solve the issue.
I've pretty much got a bog standard HD2, in otherwords haven't really done any tweaks etc but just maybe maybe I changed something using HD2Tweak that might have caused this but somehow I doubt it. Anyone else using Opera 10 expericenced this?
Yeah I get exactly the same issue, not everytime though and only with certain websites. I just put it down to the site being busy and just tried again and all loaded fine. I've no idea what could be causing it as the older version of opera I used did'nt have the issue.
Thanks ritzie for confirming I'm not the only one with the issue. The only thing is it's every site I go to and not just one, which is why it's so annoying, shame as I'm preferring certain functions of Opera 10 over 9.7.
I've just tried to replicate the problem but haven't been able to. Have you tried adjusting the settings in opera, also does it still happen when you're connected by Wifi?
i have same issue .. using o2uk hd2 with opera 10 .. any solution?
What version of Opera 10 are you guys using ?
I get the same problem when I first start opera no matter what site I go to.
I'm using opera mobile 10.0
Anyone got any ideas how to solve this??
Try to turn off Opera Turbo from settings
im using Opera mobile 10 works for me!

the loading screen just gets stuck & then nothing else happens. any chance of getting a standalone opera browser installer so that i can reinstall it on my athena? i.e. the opera browser version found in AP4 & not the 9.33 version thanks guys ian
Haven't had that problem, but when I go into opera:config some of the settings won't save. The number of tabs (stuck on 5 even though at first it appears to save a higher number) and turning off the password cache (it won't go away) are two that come to mind.
I also really don't like the lack of scroll bars in this version of Opera.
Yes, it seems several people have complained of this issue. I also have the issue. Seems to be lack of memory available, try remove some today plugins, set keyboad and dialer to basic, soft reset and see if Opera responds better..For me, that works, but not worth the trouble. I also would like the old version in a cab.
Yes, same with mine too. Need to free up memory occasionally.
Me3 - A soft reboot seems to clear it. This Opera is flupping ace, I've been boring everyone with it at work
Ltxda posted a cab for opera 9.4 (in ap4) on the forums a bit ago.Dont have the thread on hand but i do believe it was titled "opera 9.4 be a not 9.33"

I had experienced this few times. Looks like not enough memory.
Opera 9.5
Hi,
Irus has just released his version of WM6.1 rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2176129&postcount=1). In his addons there is a cab named "Opera_9.5__Build_405__Fixed_Uninstall__VGA.cab". I have installed it on my original HTC WM6 rom. I did it on my SD so I can use it or use old version of Opera supplied with my rom.
I can say that I do not have any problems with memory. I am using pBar which shows me memory all the time, so I could see that Opera (the new one) takes a lot of it but as normally I have well over 60 MB, while in Opera it drops down about 10 MB.
However I hate it. No scrolling bars, finger scrolling is mostly not working. It behaves completely unreliably. Some pages are messed (in old opera they were shown properly) and so on. And no vueFlow. In old version it works and I am using it all the time.
Hi Tadeusz - did you have problems before? I use AP4.0 and have had absolutely no problems with Opera, it seams to be a conflict with other apps eg Garmin XT and Adobe reader 2, have you tested this version with those?
Anyone have a link to the Opera 8.65 that was in stock and other roms?
Anyone use the web app at readability.com to read stuff on their phones? I've been using it fine on Eugene's Ginger Clone ROM, and I flashed CM7 yesterday to try that out for a while, and I got an interesting error when I tried to use the Readability site:
Readability Mobile was unable to create the database to store your articles. Your device may not be supported, or your cache may be full. Go into your browser settings and clear your cache and try again.

So I tried clearing cache like it said, and it didn't change anything. I tried using different browsers like Dolphin and Opera, and still had the same error. Since it worked fine on an earlier ROM, I'm assuming the difference here is CM7. Anyone know if there's some kind of setting that I'm missing that would allow the browser to create the database? I'm really liking CM7 and don't want to go through the pain of going back to a Samsung based ROM, but I use that site often enough that I'd pretty much have to if it won't work on CM7.
Try this, menu, more, settings, user agent, make it ie.. Site should see your phone as a pc now. Good?
Doesn't seem to help. I tried a couple of other agents and it keeps spitting the same error at me. Best I can tell, the app wants to write something to the phone and it isn't allowed to. I tried to catch it in a logcat and the only related thing I turn up is:
E/browser ( 3345): Console: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'transaction' of null https://www.readability.com/media/js/persistence/persistence.store.websql.js:67
Some kind of javascript thing, but every sort of "allow javascript" setting I can find in the browser seems to be correct.
Out of curiosity, do you have the latest Adobe Flash from the Market installed?
If not, maybe try that. I am not familiar with the site you are using...
I started getting force closes all over the place, so I odined to stock and flashed nightly #6. Things seem to be working now and I'm able to use the Readability app again. Thanks for your help.
Using Opera Mobile 11.1 on my NC running CM7 on EMMC, really like Opera, but it seems like Opera only remembers 5-6 sets of login information. After I log into a new web-site, it seems to lose the login information on one or more of the other web-sites that I had previously saved login information for. I do have accept cookies and remember passwords enabled in settings, and have not cleared or deleted private data. This does not happen on my phone using Opera Mini. Any idea what could be causing this or suggestions to fix?
bump - is anyone else having this problem?
I am not having that problem in 11.1. I'm having different issues and it seems that 11.1 broke a lot of functionality (speed, reload, refresh...).
Mine does not save anything at all. It only lasts until I load a new page. Can't even log in somewhere temporarily.
I have a similar issue on my Captivate (found this via Google). Opera forgets my logins but I don't think its related to having logged into other websites. I'm quite confident that after a period of browsing and returning to the website which I had logged into, I would be required to login again even if I told it to keep me logged in. This is something that keeps me going back to Dolphin Mini, but Operas pan/zoom is just so much smoother
I'm having this problem with Opera Mobile too. Logins are lost rapidly. I think it's a cookie problem because that's how these sites remember you signed in. I submitted a big report to Opera but they replied saying that they can't reproduce the issue....
Anyone remember if CM7 stable had this issue with Opera? I'm on a nightly.
I know this is a Nook forum, but like some of the other previous posters I found this via Google. Having this problem too, hugely annoying, since Opera would be my browser of choice. Acer Iconia 500, running the original (noon-rooted) version of 3.1.
The problem went away for me after having done a TiBU and flashed a wipe rom, then restoring via TiBU. Others have had luck with a simple uninstall/reinstall but that never worked for me.
Thanks. I did a reinstall of Opera, it seems so far so good.
I picked up my Galaxy Note yesterday and have noticed a strange problem with the browser. It seems that nearly half of the time when I launch the browser app, it starts a new session rather than resuming the previous. There are no dialog boxes or error messages, just a fresh browser session.
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks.
i would recommend using a different browser in general, opera is my browser of choice
I have the same issue and it is very annoying. I tried switching to another browser but none of the browsers are as smooth as stock. Opera is close, but it has other quirks.
i notice almost no difference as far as quickness with opera. what are you trying to view that you are getting crashes
i posted simular thread. i changed my homepage as well and it still crashes and start up page is goole search. my home page is xda btw
I'm running the excellent Toldo P7510 JellyBeanRom ICS v6 but I'm having problems with opening links in browsers using desktop useragent. For instance if I go to digitalspy I can't open ANY links by short clicking them. If I long click them and then select 'Open in a new tab' it opens fine. This is true for Dolphin and stock browsers.
However if I change the useragent to Android then it all works fine.
I also sometimes have a problem where the back button doesn't work as expected. Pressing it once refreshes the screen to the same page. If I press it many times in succession it will eventually go back a page (or more)
Anyone else experience these problems
Is nobody else having this problem? It's driving me bonkers!
I've hat the same errors. but two days ago I switched to this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877784
and till now I don't recognized this error. anymore. maybe it's an issue of the A1 Kernel Toldo uses in his v6 rom.
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA Premium HD app
Thanks marco.michel, I tried the new kernel but it behaves the same for me. However I managed to fix the link problem by disabling javascript in the browser settings. Still have the intermittent 'back' button problem though.
Just realised that disabling javascript breaks a lot of web pages that use it to function properly so that's not an option.
Anyone else on ICS having this problem with links not opening? Can people try going to digitalspy and click a few links for me, would be interested to know if t's just my tab or a general problem.
