[Q] Android screen not turning off in sleep mode - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Like the title, when I put the phone in sleep mode the screen light will never turn off completely. Anyone know a solution?

why not post in the android area under the persons build you are using? you will get far more support there

When you are in your Spare Parts/Select End Button and check your option. You always have to set it when switching to a new Android build.

Browser brightness?! Useless and utterly annoying

Hello guys,
is there a way to let the browser stick to the global brightness setting?
Due to that rubbish 'feature' I always end up changing the brightness twice, as if once isn't already enough.
- wake phone
- think auto brightness is too bright -> turn it down
- start browser -> still on auto -> still too bright - aaarghhh!
later again:
- went outside
- wake phone
- put to auto again - looks fine
- start browser
- black screen FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Please tell me there's a work around! This is so annoying and so useless!
There is an option in the display settings about "Auto adjust screen power" and I thought I heard that this adjusted the brightness when there is a lot of white on the screen (like a browser) to save power.
Try this?
Good idea. Unfortunately that's not it. But thanks for the hint, i've seen that dynamic brightness thingy in action and wondered whether i could turn it off.
No, it seams to be a less obvious solution. I'm thinking of the trick to change the user agent. Something like this, but there does not seam to be a about:settings or similiar. Any ideas?

You can change the useragend using about:useragent, but doesn't have anything to do with brightness settings.

Yeah this guy's right, the user agent doesn't have anything to do with brightness or the backlight at all. All it does it trick your phone into thinking it's a desktop PC so it doesn't show the mobile version of websites....as for the auto-brightness, have you got XWKE2 installed? Samsung have much improved the auto-brightness from XWKE1 and XWKDD.
You guys got me all wrong. I meant just like Samsung hid the option to choose the user agent, there must be a place to disable this annoying 'feature' as well. I know what the user agent does, don't expect me to be a total retard because of my 1 digit post count

There's no need to be pedantic about it, it makes your phone display full sites not mobile ones, is that acceptable for your exacting standards?

You said something that was wrong, and I corrected you. Why are you being so defensive?
Anyway, I'll make a note that you can't stand being corrected. Happy?

[Q] Touchstone: How to keep the TP off while on the Touchstone?

how do I keep the TP from turning on while on the touchstone? I don't want a clock or pictures, I just want it dark in my room at night. I can turn off the power when I first set it on the dock but when its fully charged on pops the screen again. How can I disable this?
Thanks
install preware if you dont have it already, go to patches and look for charge only option. there's several to choose from. pick one you like and use.
I'm pretty sure if you hit the power button after exhibition mode starts it will turn the screen off for good. But what I did was install the minimum brightness patch so now when its in exhibition mode it is much darker and much less bothersome when trying to sleep. To install the patch you'll need preware installed.

Do you happen to know the name? I found one called Quick System Tasks and it locked up my tab. I looked through all the prepare apps and only found that one.

Are you using the Preware app on your Touchpad?
Preware -> Available Packages -> Patch -> Search -> Enter "Charge"
The search is started by tapping the magnifying glass in the top button, which brings up the keyboard. Type in "charge" (without the quotes).

Or when it receives any notifications for that matter. I've resorted to just keeping the cover on the HP case closed so it covers the screen when I leave it on the touchstone overnight.

If you're talking about the temp of the device, I'm not really sure. I installed the minimum brightness patch the second day I got it because it was way too bright to have as a bedside clock. I also have a case on it, but it doesn't feel warm when I take it off the stone. Also, the lowest brightness with the patch can only be set in the screen and lock app. You cannot set it from the drop down on the home screen.

uhhh im sure he is asleep by the time it fully charges.
i have a solution
1) put the charger and the touchpad into a box
2) tape the box up
3) put my address on the box
4) take it to the post office and send it to me
that should fix your problem

Three Questions.

1) When going to unlock my phone using the screen pattern, I've noticed that recently the screen rotates. As far as I remember, it has always been in portrait which is the easiest way to quickly unlock -- rather than waiting for it to rotate from landscape back to portrait so i get the pattern correct.
2) Every time I answer my phone it goes automatically to loudspeaker. I keep forgetting and I'll end up deaf. This is very annoying!
3) Sometimes I'll be playing a game or whatever and 'car mode enabled' (something like that) will appear. I click to deactivate it but I didn't actually do anything to activate it in the first place. Why does this keep happening?
Sounds to me (noobie) like it's constantly in car mode or something. How can I turn this off? It doesn't say anything in the notification bar about it.
Thank you.
It sounds like moisture in the microUSB connector. It has a known problem of putting the phone into Car Mode - calls are via loudspeaker.
I would do a Search on here about Car Mode problems. I think a bit of DW40 resolves the issue.

what firmware are you running on the phone?
It should not default to loudspeaker unless car mode is running, check setting phone to make sure that there is nothing is running that shouldn't.
If there is nothing turned on, then it you may have problem with your hardware.
What type of game are you playing, It sounds like during the game there maybe an extra button being pressed by accident.

See the attached pic.
Where do I look to see if it's in car mode or not? When it switches on there is usually a notification and I can deactivate it from there -- but the notification bar is empty and there are no unusual icons.
The game is called WordFeud, it's like scrabble.
Thanks for your help.
I searched the forum and can't find how to check car mode.
in another forum (androidpit) i found a hint to try "Dock No-Op" with this "car-mode-problem" :
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.megagram.docknoop
i dont know if it helps
Moreover you can also try out this:
1) factory reset (wipe all?)
2) flash original firmware!
3) take out the battery for an hour or two
4) power on
5) check if all is ok now
if yes:
6) flash whatever you want

[Q] Disable wake on charge

Every time I plug my phone in via USB or place on an inductive charger, the screen turns on. I never want this to happen. Is there any setting or hack to disable? I blame OCD for not wanting to wait for the screen timeout. I tried using Tasker to set the display timeout to the minimum value of 7s only when on any power source, but it still timed out at the system setting. I have a rooted Droid 4 with the stock ROM, but this applies to any Android phone.
This doesn't seem unreasonable. If you set your phone down to charge, doesn't that mean you're done using it for now? This is difficult to search for, because the same search terms lead me to the "stay awake while charging" threads.

I'd like to know if there's a solution to this too. I find now that the only time I ever end up pocket dialing is when I take my phone off my charger, THINK i've pressed the power button to go back to sleep but didn't and thus pocket hilarity ensues
I know what u mean but there is defnetly a function where it may be disabled
ive seen it i may guarantee this
the bad thing is i forgot where...
i searched through my stock rom and found nothing so i guess ive seen this in a cyanogenmod rom :/
have a try
Its funny, because I'm trying to do the opposite. I installed my android tablet [novo 7 elf] into my car, and I used to be on a ROM whereby whenever I turn the engine on it would charge the tablet and therefore the screen would turn on. However now I've got a jellybean port this functionality does not work because of the sleep timer which has a max of 30 mins.
Any ideas on how to disable this functionality?

If you're screen always stays on while charging, then try this:
- goto SETTINGS- Developer options - uncheck "stay awake while charging"
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII

Indeed.
Am looking for the same thing. really hate the fact that when it goes in the charger I continuously have to turn off the device.... not cool.
Hopefully someone comes with a solution.
only thing for now is use Locale and a plugin screen off (.99 cents) which will probably turn off the screen if you plug it in. haven't tried it though.
Maybe the "charging now" notification is what wakes the phone up when it begins charging, and maybe that notification can be removed somehow, but I know nothing of how those are set up in the background.

FYI, I tried this again since upgrading to ICS on my Droid 4, and it totally works. I just set up a Tasker profile: When Power=AC or USB, Display Timeout = 7s. It shuts off in 7s when on my inductive charging pad, and the system setting of 1 minute when off the pad.

Sadly, it's two dollars, but this seems to be what you're looking for.
Option 1:
Install Xposed or other, I don't remember clearly...
Option 2:
With Tasker
-Power: Any AC
-System Lock
why it isn't possible to disable it without xposed?
know this is an old thread but just curious if there is a way to not have the display turn on when it reaches 100% while charging?

Old thread again but in Nougat, it's Settings/Display/Wake on plug, Disable.
Well now this thread is even older :*)
There is a app named "All My..." it contains no wake on charge. It should be a former xposed app that work on most phones so feel free to try.

2022 and it's ongoing. Who would want the screen to turn on when plugged in. On an LG phone you even get an annoying buzz which cannot be disabled even if in silent mode.

It is a small issue caused by the HWComposer and is fixed in PAC rom. The issue is based on a commit that the Cyanogen guys maybe forgot to include in the buildbot's config. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-pac-nightlies-t2668572 .
