ryanza lag fix problem! - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

well, i had my phone running great, quadrant score 2100+..but im not sure what happend and it was going slow and would freeze so i decided to do a phone reset through the settings (without unrooting) i then later on tried to reinstall and use the ryanza lag fix but for some reason it shows in red as unavailable and when i click it it says already installed less than 5kb, and if i try to undo ryanza lag fix its also in red and unavaible and says theres none instaled, i already unrooted the device and reset it again and still nothing,

The folder might still be in you system memory.

any idea whats the name of that folder?

You're probably missing system/etc/init.d
btw, I'm moving this to Q&A section.

see if you can install ext2 tools again then see if you could uninstall the lag fix after that

Just click on the yellow boot loader this will remove the lagfix then you can do it again...
That is all

The boot animation should be green this will restore the playlogs. . Meaning remove the lagfix then you can do it over

I just had the same problem. I undid the lagfix took out the ext 2 and did a factory reset. Hoping for the stupid sep 20th gps lag fix hoax. it was still rooted after reset. Download one click again and it was telling me i still had a 5kb lag fix installed. It was also telling me something about playlogos1 bin. So i used root exp to get to system/bin playlogos1 removed it. Went back to lag fix it told me i didnt have it. Then i put it back. And it worked. 5kb=playlogos1 bin. Dont just delete in copy and past

[Q] power shutoff mid-lagfix - what to do?

Hey folks,
While I was in the middle of ryanza's one click lagfix (v2.0), I happened to have a power outage in my house. Literally when it said it was in the middle of creating the ext2 partition via ADB.
Apparently my gmail still works, but pandora gets an error (most common apps for me basically). I'm not exactly planning to test all features mid-failure, but I was wondering was - what things I should be doing prior to when I try to re-run the lagfix and hopefully fix the ext2 partition? That will be tonight after work, so I've got time.
I'm just trying to think of worst case scenario/etc. Phone is rooted, still running, and not appearing bricked. yet.
Perform the un-lagfix first, then re-apply the lagfix - IIRC the lagfix creates a backup of your data directory, then replaces the data directory with the new ext2 filesystem (the lagfix's guts).
The unlagfixme.bat reverts this change, and should put everything back the way it was, from which you can re-apply the lagfix. Give it a shot and see if that works for you.
thank you for clarifying, that was what I thought too, but I wasn't 100%.

[Q] Voodoo Uninstall

Sorry if this has been answered (I know its frowned upon), but I'm a bit pressed for time. I installed Voodoo V3 a little while back on JFD, but disabled it for JI6 using the 'disable lagfix' file in Voodoo folder method.
Last night, I flashed Obsidian v3 with VooDoo, but the new version will not install (I'm assuming that Voodoo was not completely uninstalled), and I can't use any of the OCLF methods pre-installed with the ROM (says: You already appear to have another lag fix intalled! (/system/bin/playlogos1 less than 5kb).
I am still running Obsidian v3.
I'd appreciate the help and a walkthrough if possible!
Thanks in advance and sorry for the trouble.
Try to flash sombionix voodoo disable.zip file into clockwork recovery. You should hear voice now converting to rfs. Once done, and it boots up. Go back to clockworkmod, flash another rom without voodoo. Than you should be okay from there on.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Flashing the disable_lagfix.zip simply places a disable lagfix file in the voodoo directory (i think). I had that done before I flashed JI6 and obsidian...and the issue never went away.
Look in files folder, you see anything labeled voodoo?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Create disable-voodoo empty text file but save as disable-voodoo file and place it in your voodoo folder and reboot. See what happens.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
at the root of my internal SD is the Voodoo folder. Within it is a folder labeled logs, and also the disable_lagfix file i put in there to disable it. However, if i delete this folder, Voodoo will reinstall itself automatically when i reboot.
when i place the disable_lagfix file within that directory...it disables Voodoo, but does not completely rid the system of it. When I installed Obsidian v3 with Voodoo, it did not install the new version of VooDoo because the old one still existed. Also, OCLF also will not install and i think its also because of this.
Try pushing the disable voodoo via adb.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Or try to to do a factory restore first from clockwork. See what hapoens. I had that same issue too while back.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Swing by the project-voodoo dot org site and go to documentation (i would give you a link if i could post one but...). Follow the first set of instructions on there and you'll get voodoo out in no time. Now, I'm not entirely sure if the vibrant devs accept this as the proper method of removal for our phones but I just tried this a couple of nights ago to get Soniqu3's theme on Onyx R4. Hope this helps.
Use terminal emulator and type mount. If it says data/ rfs in there, voodoo is disabled. Are you using the oclf included in the rom? Sombionix said the one in the market will not work.
Last option for you. Do this...
http://www.teamwhiskey.com/installation-guide/rfs-lag-fix-and-you
Its the same thing oclf does, just not one click.

Some of the Developers have said it helps to completely wipe everything as in odin back to something like EB01 with the pit files so it repartitions your internal storage. Essentially it's reformatting your phone to new again, then of course rooting unless you odin in CWR your then drop in your favorite rom. it helped me the few times i had a ton of FC issues and the one time i had SOD. just my suggestion though.
First though, do you have GizmoDroids fixed CWR? Ihttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1017817f not you might want to start here before you do anything else.

I've done a full wipe with Odin just the other day. Didn't do the pit file though. Maybe I'll give that a try since I'm probably going back to try the dl09 modem on froyo to see if signal issues stabilize. Thanks for the input!
Any other suggestions?

I have had sporadic results running the fix permissions from inside CWM. With the different versions/fixes/patches to it I am never sure which one I am on so I don't use that method at this time. Try running the fxpms from a terminal emulator with root access after boot up, or with adb. That should run correctly.
I have also had tons of force closes lately and found that the problem was that the database was getting corrupted after trying to restore apps + app data in Titanium Backup. Only way I could get that fixed was to wipe and reload a rom and manually install the apps. After that I haven't been having issues with FCs.

Insufficient storage available (market install)

I'm running the latest 3.0.27 (I think) market and I am unable to install anything, it will go through the download and then say insufficient storage available. I have 1.27 GB left on internal and am having no other issues... anybody know how to fix this or anybody else getting this?
(I lost gmail in some flash problems, gonna take it out of a rom zip I suppose but market won't let me get it the easy way or get anything else.)

i'm actually having the same issue. my market seemed to update itself and now i can't actually update anything else and get the same error. does anyone have any other suggestions?
were you able to fix yours?
When this happens to me and it does quite frequently one of two things usually works.
1) go back into the market and tell the app to update again
2) if that doesn't work uninstall and reinstall the app
One of these two options gets the app to download and install for me
edit: just reread your op try in this case I wood suggest wiping everything and flashing the rom again
I also have this issue. It is really annoying.

Any chance you flashed a new rom before this. I had this problem twice and both times it was when I flashed a nonvoodoo rom the voodoo conversion didn't happen. Just an ideal.
I am on gingerbread, no voodoo. I resolved the problem by doing a full data wipe/factory reset before updating MIUI. Everything works great now!
dood. ..did you happen to grab a logcat? I had this happen in cm7and realized that even though I had 1.3gb internal free, the /datadata partition was full.,
I never had this issue before that, and it even made apps start to fc! I checked by issuing the command df from term.
I moved a bunch of apps to sd, a feature of android I've never had to use until I upgraded(sounds more like a downgrade, I know) to gb! it worker but I still only have limited space (14% free) there while my /data partition has 1.3gb free...
I have never seen this before and my only clue from logcat where to even look was disk i/o errors.

Wipe cache and dalvik. Should fix it. If not wipe big three and that should do it.
This was a big problem a while back and it was caused by not wiping cache after new rom install.

Is it ok to flash custom roms through CWM on my device?

I know what you might be thinking, he is asking a dumb question. Just hear me out. I obtained root using superoneclick 2.2. I then flashed the terra silent kernal to get CWM, I rebooted through CWM without backing anything up, yeah I know I made a mistake and I am upset about it, but to add insult to injury I preformed factory reset out of panic after that. Fortunately my device did not brick, but all the apps that were not bloatware were gone, some that were bloatware were gone like google play. I lost superuser as well. I thought that I would have to reroot, I tried that, but superoneclick said I was already rooted, I continued with the root anyways, it made no signifigant difference, I then found a way to download the superuser apk off of the internet, but it would not install. I then downloaded romtoolbox lite and ran root browser, I then came across the superuser apk and install in successfully and thus have superuser permissions. I had backed up my nand through CWM before successfully reinstalling superuser. But after I reinstalled it successfully and obtained root, I backed it up again. My question is, is it safe to flash custom roms like CM7 onto my device? As far as I know everything that I have reinstalled that were bloatware seem to be working ok. The only thing that does not work is the sound (not the speakers or the audio jack, the sound that can go into silent mode.) although I think that it may be due to the voodoo sound files that come with the terra silent kernel. If you need me to give you more information, I will try my best to provide it, but I am quite new to this sort of thing and I would rather just have my friend who has more expirience than I do at this look over it for me and what not, however he has only worked with htc as far as I know and it has been a while since he has done that. So, I will be more than happy to try and provide more info if needed. I am just skeptical on the matter since my device has been through alot.

Which player do you have? But yeah you can flash custom Roms on you player with CWM.
Here's a quick video on it around the 2 min mark http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aajKlCbemAs
Doing a factory reset erases all apps you've downloaded and not bloatware. That's why you back up before so you can restore your apps or settings later I use Titanium Back up https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en with the key. It's definetly worth it and normally the backups are a lot smaller and you get to choose what you want to back up and restore.
Also, if you want Superuser, you can get it on the playstore.
I have superuser, but I did not backup tgrough CWM before I rebooted through CWM. My friend I mentioned in my earlier posts saud that it would work. I have a 4.0 US and I think when I preformed factory reset, it only got what was on the custom kernel I had on instead of the stock. I got superuser through blackmart alpha b/c google play was removed from my device.
Sent from my YP-G1 using xda app-developers app
well yeah, as long as the ROM is for 4.0 you should be good.
---------- Post added at 10:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:04 PM ----------
You can get playstore here http://goo.im/gapps/
You sure? Because I rebooted through cwm without backing up my nandvthe first time I opened it, will that cause problems even though I gained root and have superuser working? I also preformed factiry reset with terra silent kernel installed. What will that do?

Also google search box bloatware keeps failing (I think trying to root when my device was already rooted did that. How do I get rid of it?

Here's a video that talks about roms and kernels http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF01lhfUwfk&feature=youtube_gdata_player but really kernels aren't bad only if you flashed one that isn't compatible to your player which.if you do it could brick it.
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
So it should be ok to install custom roms even though I rebooted w/o backing up my nand and then preforming factory reset with a custom kernel installed? I will probably have my friend show me how to flash custom roms, but is there a stock kernel I could flash back to through odin? Also does the kernel reponsible for managing bloatware? Because that would explain why some of my apps like google play were gone. I just do not want to make anymore stupid errors that could ruin my player, as I worked for every penny to buy it.

You should be ok even if you don't do a back up. Stock kernel and rom should be around the forums and bloatware is affected by the rom. Maybe you erased a system app and didn't reboot? that's usually why I get those messages. But seriously its hard to brick your player it could happen but as long as your careful you should be good. If your friends how to do it then he should show you that way you have a better understanding. And doing backups are mainly for after you flash something because you're most likely going to do a factory reset (erase user apps not preinatalled apps from rom) and so you can restore user apps with saved settings and progress. You could go without, but you're going to have to start from scratch which sucks! Byt good luck!
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
My friend looked my device over and told me that I would be ok. And that rebooting unistalls all google based app or something like that (He also told me that he should have told me that before I even accessed CWM. My googlesearchbox app kept failing and since I just use google as my browser homepage, I just deleted it using a no bloatware app. My friend said that rebooting through CWM without backing anything up and then preforming factory reset with a custom kernel installed would not do anything that could potentially ruin my player, I will soon have him show me how to use CWM to flash a custom rom and all that jazz
.

Sent from my YP-G1 using xda app-developers app
It's saved on your internal memory which wont be erased but yeah once it's backed up as long as you backed up both apps with data you're fullyy backed up. your sd card is only touched to read and install you rom anything there is no touched.
So if I was to flash a custom rom, all the stuff on my sd card would be safe? And is it ok that I deleted the googlesearchbox apk?
Sent from my YP-G1 using xda app-developers app
Everything on your micro sd are safe. And it's ok to erase google search, I erase it too
Sent from my YP-G70 using xda app-developers app
Ok, so I tried to install google Play again by installing the apk, but it needed something else too, since the app was crashing alot, I could not get rid of it, I then saw that my internet browser was gone off of the bottom bar, I then tried to preform factory reset, I was terrified, but but I restored a backup nand through CWM. My question is, since I restored a backup, everything should be ok? And how do I get Google Play back?
Sent from my YP-G1 using xda app-developers app
The link for google apps from the link should be like your android version so if you have gingerbread look for the ones with GB. When you restore it will put it back to the state it was when you backed it up.
