I was wondering if I do a factory reset, will my back up folders from rom manager and titanium back up be deleted?
Thanks in advance

I posted this in another thread about my experience with Factory Reset
If you have removed any bloatware I do not recommend it
------
Hello,
I just wanted to share my experience and possibly prevent other people from going through it.
I recently received my first Vibrant and it happen to be one of the defective units unable to enter recovery via HW. Of course at the time I did not realize this was a problem and was new to the phone and android in general.
I rooted the phone and removed 5 or 6 bloatware apps (Telenav, Audio Postcard, etc... Nothing important) So im installing and uninstalling apps you know how it goes and I think you know I just kinda want to clear everything out and remove all the user data. I understand the bloatware I removed will not come back but thats better for me so I wont have to remove it again. So I use ADB reboot into recovery and select Erase User Data.
It formats and I reboot. Right away nothing works and I get a constant force close loop of just about every app trying to open including TouchWiz which I didnt remove so it should be fine. Well I think this sucks at least you can always flash to stock. DING thats when it hit me and I realized I now had no way to get into recovery or download mode to even attempt running a recovery. SO I had to have my phone replaced. The replacement phone Is not defective and I can access everything via HW buttons. I wanted to see if i could duplicate my issue. So I do a backup of stock right away. Then I proceed to remove bloatware etc...
I factory reset and again force closes
I nandroid back to the stock reference I made and boots fine No defect in the phone No Problem this time correcting it. I do a factory reset at that point and works fine.
Point I guess is after all this is if you have a HW Locked defective phone and have removed bloatware NEVER RUN A FACTORY RESET unless you have put the bloat back on... Would have saved me from having to get a replacement though I guess that was better cuz now I have a phone that works properly.

I used the 1 click toot method and thought I may return my fascinate. I decided against it and tried to root again with no luck. The root always has a bunch of FC's and eventually gets stuck. The generic ringer also starts with no way to stop it. Only a battery pull will restart the phone afterward. I have also already really installed the Samsung drivers for the phone. Anybody have any thoughts?
Did you go back to stock via odin...if not do so...and push root manually...instead of an app.
I did through Odin. Tried to push root manually last night. The phone froze right after the push and never recovered. Had to battery pull. I had all of the files pushed and got to the chmod and wait stage when it froze.
Hmm, maybe re push to stock in odin...make sure you are doing the correct files...though it sounds like you did...a second time around sometimes seems to hit the spot...droid used to give me the same issues with sbf.
Do a factory data reset after you redo the odin recovery. Make sure you are using the verizon file when pushing each flash and doing it in the proper order. Then manually root, dont use one click or an app.
Also remember to push the files one at a time and let the phone restart between each one booting back into download mode.

I've been working all weekend so I havent had too much time to deal with it. I wiped data and cache in the recovery menu initially and then the phone wouldn't allow me to sign back into my Google account. It kept telling me that I didn't have a data connection on 3g OR wifi. I finally did a factory reset through the privacy menu (not in recovery) and all seems to finally be working and completely stock. Now off to root and flash voodoo...
hey i had the same problem i made a post on how to fix it though.. go to the 0.00 internal storage issue mine was doing what u said plus more but i fixed it just follow the steps i set

Got it. Just for the record: Rooted, Flashed all three files with Odin to get "back to stock". Re-OTA'd. Somehow Busybox and Su were still there so I manually removed. Then changed my mind about returning the phone and attempted to root again with no luck. Re-flashed through Odin ok, then attempted root but errors prevented finish. Cleared data and wiped cache through recovery. Then my google account wouldn't resync b/c of network connection error, even though I had a working data connection the entire time. Tried booting into recovery and clear and wipe data again. No luck. Finally decided to use factory data reset from within settings. Now all clear, rooted again, re-synced my google account and all good. You guys rock. Thanks for the help.
I haven't been able to get updates for my prime since I messed with a few system files using Titanium backup a while ago. I admit messing with things wasn't the best idea, and it's caused some problems. Now, I would like to start from scratch, get my firmware up to date, and re-root.
I just pressed for a reset in the settings of my rooted prime, thinking it would wipe and fix the problems, but it doesn't. My now reset prime still won't update it's firmware. I don't know what to do anymore.
Can anyone point me to a walkthrough for resetting my prime? I have NOT unlocked the bootloader.
You will be more likely to get solid help/advice, if you mention what system files you messed with. If you did a batch restore, and really don't know what files got messed with, mention that. If the factory reset did not restore system files, it sounds like you may need to restore them manually.
I got rid of some system apps that I didn't really care about like @vibe, google books, google +, etc.
I reset by going to settings, backup & reset, factory data reset.
You need to re-flash the stock ICS update.
Can you tell me how I go about doing that, please?

Thank you very much. I'll be giving this a shot soon.
I previously had the S2, I've just got the S3 and I've managed to somehow restore it to factory settings; in this case, factory settings meant nearly no system apps.
I managed to push Play and TiBu to the phone, then restored Swiftkey (the default keyboard was wiped) and then... well, a few hours later, here I am. Play doesn't entirely work, it throws "Server error" whenever I try to use it. I've managed to set up my Google account, though. I'm sure I can restore the remainder of my apps using TiBu, but it'd still be useful to be able to get these apps updated, for example.
I've tried searching and all I can turn up are posts/threads/articles about restoring to factory settings, but this was the problem.
I'd be extremely grateful to someone that could tell me how to:
Get the phone working in the current state (I'll gladly supply any further information required), or;
Restore it to the original, stock, out-of-the-box I9300 ROM and apps
Of course, if another post already does instruct on one or more of the above, I apologise, and I'll gladly look at those if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thats wrong all system apps should be restored .
Suggest one factory reset phone via recovery menu .
Fails then match your current rom details to one in stock rom/branded rom thread .

I've tried this - multiple times - and it doesn't seem to help. Seems like CM doesn't actually install the stock apps? Unusual, or perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

I'm currently downloading stock, and will post back when something more has happened.
Hey, so I've tried the above; it seems to work except that the phone gets stuck on the Samsung logo screen while booting.
I'm not sure whether I just need to wait longer for it, but it's been a while now and I'm not sure that this has worked.
Is there any way for me to find out whether I just need to wait, or whether there's something else that's gone wrong here?
Something is going wrong .
Factory restore just reinstalls the last flashed firmware file including all its apps .
Stuck at boot loop pull battery replace and see if it boots if not flash stock firmware again following the instructions .
jje
So perhaps something is seriously wrong.
I've removed then replaced the battery, then I've re-flashed stock firmware, and still stuck on logo screen - the glowing Samsung logo, mind, not the Samsung I9300 screen. But still no luck.
I've rooted my S2 plenty of times with no such problem, I have no idea what to do next, though.
Any more ideas?
Fixen (somehow)
So at some point after one of the backups I've done this morning, it's started working. Not sure why, but hurrah!
Hi all,
Had my SGS3 for a few weeks now and it's been good for the most part, but as of a few days ago things started to go wrong.
Had a message from Orange saying that i've been using my phone out of the EU and i've used 2MB (even though i haven't) this issue hasn't raised it's head again, i also had four apps install themselves, "slots", "cab app", "droid apps" and "new message", i've since wiped and had no issues.
Then this morning i had an icon show up saying car mode enabled, click here to disable, theres nothing i can do to remove it besides reboot the phone and then it promptly comes back again
The other one is since installing villain rom, which has been a solid rom and the dev's there are top notch so i don't even think it's the rom, but i've been getting a strange error too.
Also getting rebooting of the phone randomly also happens and again theres nothing i can do about that either.
I've attached screengrabs of both the car mode issue after i click on the notification and the error i'm getting when using villainrom.
Any help at all with any of these issues would be great.
Many thanks.
PS: Things i've tried:
Rebooting.
Full wipe, data, cache and dalvic.
Re downloaded the rom and full wiped again.
Cleared the internal and external memory.
Tried different kernels
The car mode issue was also present on Omega rom and i imagine it would follow me onto any other rom, i'm actually suspecting that it's some malware which has been left behind and has installed itself, so even after wiping it's just installing itself again.
I don't use apk's too much but i do use titanium after every flash although i am careful as to what i install.
Might i need to go back to stock and start over?
Thanks.
~EDIT: Just used the toolkit to go back to a stock rom and i'm still receiving errors "Unfortunately the process android.process.acore has stopped ?? wtf? It's supposed to be clean?
Anyone?
EDIT 2: Re rooted the phone and everything went perfect, flashed a custom rom and still good, then signed into google and as it was loading up my numbers and changing my wallpaper, attempting to download my apps, it crashes, i reboot and as soon as it's connected and trying to finish off what it was doing, it reboots again? This lump of **** is going back.
Baad.
Bump.
Yeah.bump. don't know what is causing this. But try this
Full wipe, go to mount/storage and format system, then flash new rom
Do have full access to all your apps,if not then your phone is on "safe mode/car mode" and i never use that feature, so i don't know how to turn it off.
Hope this can help

Maybe if you "tick-off" the sync_with_google option before finishing the first time gmail setup??
And you could try Settings --> Back up and reset --> and untick Automatic Restore??
Good luck

Completely unrooted, flashed a stock rom, still having issues.
Called orange, getting a new phone tomorrow, courier to my door Now that's service.
Don't know how to fix the issue but i had 6 reboots on the train on the way to work, couldnt' even send a text.
System was clean, i'd already wiped anything that could be wiped.
Hardware issue.

Sign in or don't sign in, the problem persists.
Car mode has stayed away but the reboots are still present, for a 20 day old phone i think it's utter bull****.
Must have been tested by a bunch of corpses, either that or the testers were high and thought it'd be funny to send out some dud unit's.
Even in my place of work, i sometimes set up client's phones, up til now i've done hundreds, about 10 of them have been dead from the box, some have had issues with the touchscreen, lalalalallalalaaaaaa, not good enough samsung, i understand that some bad eggs can slip through the net but for me the ratio is just too high.
Like i said, i'll be getting a spanking new phone delivered tomorrow morning, hopefully this one isn't on it's arse.

If this issue is happening to you, send it back, mine went from being on it's knees to being on it's back in a coffin in one day.
I would suggest you do a full wipe as suggested and try to use a different GMAIL account initially to see if your issues return.

M8, i HAVE done a full wipe, i've also signed in AND not signed in as i've previously said.
Both yielded the same results.

I'm not sure what your addressing here?
Balls'ed up the firmware? Not likely sunshine, not me
NO i think you'll find that this ***** has hardware issues, at least since it still reboots at stock.
Either way if someone does want to go back to stock then there is only one place they need to go to.
There is no script or anything else needed for it.
Just the tool kit.
Congrats, u neither helped me nor, did anything else, u just gave some unwanted info. Kudos i think????

I DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE POINT OF YOUR POST, AT ALLLLLL.]
/I'm not sure what your thanks meter represents??
Hey guys, I was running stock ZVC (with stock recovery and bootloader) until just a few minutes ago, when I finally gave in and told the phone to apply the OTA update that was pushed out last week (the "ZVE" one). It started doing its thing, but next time I looked back at the device it was in recovery mode, just sitting there at the menu prompt...
I've since tried rebooting and powering off about half a dozen times, but it just keeps looping back to recovery mode. I also tried wiping the cache and rebooting, with no luck... It still loops back to recovery mode. I don't know what went wrong, but I'm assuming it could be related to one of two things that I didn't think about until afterwards:
1) The phone was rooted via Kingoroot, and root was still active when I tried to apply the update.
2) Just a FEW programs were frozen via TitaniumBackup (as well as Android's own app management system, using the "disable" feature), but these weren't system- or kernel-critical apps. They were things like LG Health, Sprint Money, etc...
Can anyone suggest a fix? Right now it just keeps rebooting into stock recovery and I've never had to deal with an issue like this, so I'm not sure what to do. I was obviously running the stock ROM, so I'm not set up to flash stuff. Although if it can be done with the default recovery, I suppose I could obviously do that... Once again, everything was stock on the phone except for Kingoroot, which was still enabled during the update.
I'm in a pickle here, guys. It's not like I'm any different than everyone who "needs their phone for work," but yeah, I need my phone for work... If I have to wipe data/factory reset, there's probably no way to pull some data off of the phone via PC first, is there? I suppose it's not that big of a deal, but I have some data and some program data that I hadn't gotten around to backing up yet, because I didn't think I'd need to until before I attempted to flash a new ROM or custom recovery.
Any help would be HUGE. Thanks...
EDIT: I took it into the Sprint store today a couple hours after I posted this, and they said I'd have to send it in to LG for warranty service. I don't know if the Sprint tech person knew what she was doing or not (because she had to use Google to figure out how to put the phone into download mode, even though she owns the same model), but she said that she couldn't establish a connection between the PC and the phone...
Now I'm not sure if that's the case, or if she just didn't have the right drivers installed, or if she was even in the right mode (I think she was using some Sprint-made flashing tool, but she did get it into download mode). She also seemed bored and like she just didn't wanna deal with it, so I don't know...
Assuming I can flash back to an earlier build like ZVB (and assuming I can even find it online), is that done from download mode or from recovery? By the way, we also tried just doing a factory reset and that didn't work either; just keeps rebooting to recovery...
Thanks...
EDIT 2: Fixed by flashing to stock via these instructions. Had to select Board DL and use a different key sequence as described here.
