Hi,
I just read this on your site:
"26. Add Your Own Album Art to Music Folders
Make sure the image you wish to use is 256x256 pixels, 96dpi and save it to your PC. Rename the image to the following format: ~hTC_Album Name.vin. Please note that the change refers also to the file extension as it will now become a vin file. Copy this file to the folder of your specific album on your Storage Card. Example: If the album is called Abba Gold, then your vin file will be ~hTC_Abba Gold.vin."
Well. This might be a stupid question, but how do I do this?? When I rename the file to ~hTC_nameofthetrack.vin it stays an .JPG file.. and when I download it and use "save as" I can only choose between saving it as an .JPG or an .BMP file.. even when I just try saving it as ~hTC_filename.vin it becomes an .JPG with .vin at the end of the trackname..
I would really like to know and this probably is an easy answer so I hope someone can help me with this
are you renaming from the computer or the phone?
if you are doing it via the computer make sure that you have shown filename extensions enabled or it will not change the type of file
and how do I enable that?
[windows helpdesk mode]
Open explorer, goto tools, Folder options
Select the view tab
Under files and folders unselect following:
hide extensions for known file types
[/windows helpdesk mode]
I couldn't get this working no matter what I tried, gave up in the end....
even once the files were renamed and everything, the images wouldn't show....

i have create the folder '\Storage Card\XDA_UC'
now, i dont know how to do with the following instructions.
can someone guide me with this?

XDA_UC installation tips are generally similar as listed here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3611692
I made some modifications so that the sequence of the installation will be like this:
My.tsk file from "\Storage Card\XDA_UC"
and if not present Cook.tsk from Windows Folder.
import *wifi*.*xml and *mail*.*xml provisional registry settings for WiFi and Email setup.
Copy Over User Files.
Check for "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Copy2Root" if present, Disable Manila from Homescreen then Copy files from "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Copy2Root" to the root of the device, Then checking for existence of wallpaper_TF3D.png or wallpaper_TF3D.jpg in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Copy2Root\Windows" and adding that to
[HKCU\Software\HTC\Manila]
"HomeBackgroundPath"="\\Windows\\wallpaper_TF3D.jp g"
Import registry files from "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Copy2Root\Windows\manila.reg" If present
Re-enable Manila on Homescreen and redraw it. Now also works for the Sense 2.1 and up versions.
.xdas files in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC"
Silently run Legacy SDConfig.txt from Storage Card
(If your using RunCC.exe or Autorun you do not need to point to or use SDAutorun.exe or SDConfig.txt) Thanks to RoryB
Commands for SDConfig.txt can be found here....
.cab files in "\Storage Card\autoinstall"
This makes it compatible with your storage card's setup for Tom's Autoinstall.
.cab files in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC"
.cab files in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Storage", These cab files will be tempted to install to Storage Location. Not recommend using this method. Please use Manual instead.
.cab files in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Manual",These cab files will start with Full User interaction capabilities to choose where to install to.
.reg files in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC"
.xml files in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC"
.mscr files in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC"
.cer files in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC"
Create Shortcuts and more from Registry Keys
More information here....
Copy over welcomehead.192.01.png & welcomehead.192.02.png present in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Copy2Root\Windows" to the Windows folder.
Copy over welcomehead.96.01.png & welcomehead.96.02.png present in "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Copy2Root\Windows" to the Windows folder.
Actually everything is copied over from Copy2Root folder to root, but the above Splashcreens get their file atributes removed before this happens.
Add native support for .mscr, .mortrun, .xda, xdai, xdas & .xdaz files
Well, I hope this is good enough to explain everything. Good luck with setting up your XDA_UC!

or is that i need to follow this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684865 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366337
i'm a newbie, so, can someone explain more easily?
Try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=795711
It's for Energy customized rom, but it will help you understand how xda_uc works.
Just a few tips:
-You can put all the .cab files of programs you want to install in XDA_UC folder, as well as all the .reg files
- Create the folder Copy2Root inside XDA_UC folder. Inside Copy2Root folder, put all the files and folders you want to be copied to their respective places in the phone memory. Use the same path that the original files have, including folders.
For instance, inside Copy2Root I have the folder "Windows" and inside "Windows" I have the folder "Rings" with all the sounds I want to restore at each hard reset.
Another example: if you want to copy something to the root of you phone's memory, just put the file in the Copy2Root folder. If you want to copy a file to the Windows folder, create the folder Windows in Copy2Root folder and inside it put the file you want to copy.
thanks for reply

then no need to use these software?
* DoeDoe's SDConfig.txt creator.
* .reg -> xml conversion tool
* XML Notepad 2007
* CeRegEditor (can find registry changes)
* DaveShaw's Folder Copy utility
* Registry capture Logger
and, is that i need to locate those reg file from where the application folder in the device then straight away copy them to XDA_UC folder?
Stick with the basics, for now.
Here's what I do: I customize the phone to my needs in every option needed. Then, I grab a registry editor, and search for the entries that correspond to the changes I've made.
Once I find them, I export that registry key to the XDA_UC folder as a .reg file. Then I repeat for all the entries that matter to me.
When hard resetting, XDA_UC will enter those registry files into the wm registry to activate your options.
So, in teory, you will only need a registry editor.
ok...
i will try
thanks again..
this is gonna sounds stupid but i followed every step but i cant seem to get the file to be only ApplyRecovery.bat, thats how i named the files but it does only open notepad....like if it was reading ApplyRecovery.bat.txt
Step 5: create a text file using notepad, called ApplyRecovery.bat. Make sure it is not named "ApplyRecovery.bat.txt" . It will contain the following lines (copy/paste is fine)
i did it finally
For future reference, it might help others if you explained how you solved your problem. For example, given this issue where the file is opening in notepad, one of the following possibilities is apparent:
1. When saving the file, you did not enclose the file name in quotes, e.g. "ApplyRecovery.bat". Enclosing the file name in quotes overrides the automatic generation of extensions and saves the file exactly as you wish.
2. Batch files, files ending in .bat, were set to open in notepad instead of being ran when double-clicked. This would by necessity require you to delete the file association before the batch file would work.
All the work given below is not my own; I only compile knowledge from different threads in to single easy guide. Huge thanks to xda senior members devilex94 and makers_mark for their nice work.
Everyone like to change bootanimation but if that bootanimation is our favourite video then it will be nice experience.
Xda Senior member devilex94 has made bootanimation file which will execute video as bootanimation. See original thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-university/guide-set-video-bootanimationtesters-t2915445
Proceedure is as below ,
1. First download zip from http://d-h.st/LjJK and extract it on desktop. You will find ffmpeg, image resizer and bootanimation2mp4 converter in it. Also bootanimation execution file in 'bootanimation file' folder.
2. Now copy your favourite video mp4 file in in C drive. Open ffmpeg folder and open bin foder in it. Then open command prompt there and write "ffmpeg.exe -i c:\ABC.mp4 -r 8 -ss 00:00:0X.000 -t Y ABC-%3d.jpg" without "" this sign where,
ABC is name of mp4 video
8 is number of frames per second(8 will work for every video or you can keep it as per the fps of your video by checking it from properties/ details )
00:00:0X.000 is time from where video is to be converted
Y is the time of video length
3. Then press ENTER & you will see jpg images in bin folder.
4. Resize these images as per phones screen size ie. 540X960 pixels or as per your requirement.
5. Now make folder 'part0' and copy from first image upto the image you want as your main bootanimation in this folder.
6. Now make folder 'part1' and copy the last image in pat0 and remaining images in it. These images will appear as loop.
7. Now make desc.txt file in notepad and write,
540 960 08
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
where, 540&960 are image size and 08 is frames per second. Also leave one blank line after last line and then save the file.
8. Zip all these part0, part1 and desc.txt using 7zip in bootanimation.zip (REMEMBER TO KEEP COMPRESSION LEVEL TO STORE FORMAT OTHERWISE BOOTANIMATION WILL NOT WORK).
Now this bootanimation is ready in jpg format and you can use it in any custom rom. To use it in stock rom we have to convert it in mp4 format using proceedure below,
1.Put the bootanimation file in 'bootanimation file' folder in place of original bootanimation file in /system/bin folder and change permissions to 0755 (rwxr-xr-x). Also make the backup of original bootanimation file.
2. Now run 'RUNba2mp4v186b.bat' file in bootanimation to mp4 converter. This will create some folders in bootanimation to mp4 converter. Copy your bootanimation zip in zips folder in bootanimation2mp4 converter and press 2 and ENTER. Then proceed for video bootanimation conversion by finally pressing 7 and ENTER. You will find 6100kbs_bootanimation.zip in Made_Zips folder. Rename it to bootanimation.zip and this is your final video bootanimation zip.
3. Place it in /system/media folder and give permissions 0644 (rw-r-r) and reboot. You will see phone booting with your favourite video.
4. You can also change booting sound in stock roms. Copy your favourite sound track in /system/media/audio/ui and rename it to PowerOn.ogg and change permissions to 0644 and reboot.
I made one; download and flash through cwm

I have an extension that is no longer available on the Chrome store. I'd like to be able to back it up on my Chromebook and restore it, since I think it will not be restored after I update the Chrome OS (it will presumably fetch the available extensions from the store).
My Chromebook is in developer mode. So I wonder can it be done from the shell?
I tried enabling developer mode in chrome://extensions, but pack extension does not allow me to see any system root directory, and I have the additional challenge of figuring out which extension it is in /home/chronos/user/Extensions/.
I'm not really sure where to go from here. Any help with this would be really appreciated!

Can you see the ID of the extension at the very bottom of its listing in chrome://extensions/? If you can.... I just tested out the following with an extension chosen at random, and it worked fine for me, although I suppose it may depend on the extension...
Copied the ID of the extension (at the very bottom of its listing in chrome://extensions/), then:
sudo su
find / -iname theidoftheextension
cp -a -r /home/chronos/user/Extensions/theidoftheextension /media/removable/UNTITLED/
Back in chrome://extensions/
Clicked Packed extension > chose the folder above the one containing manifest (in my case /media/removable/UNTITLED/theidoftheextension/0.1.2_0/)
Clicked Pack extension
Opened /media/removable/UNTITLED/theidoftheextension/ in file browser
Dragged the newly-created packed extension /media/removable/UNTITLED/theidoftheextension/0.1.2_0.crx over chrome://extensions/
It installed! Actually I tested it three times, resulting in three copies of the extension. Having said that, if you only have one copy of the extension, perhaps it would be better to test the .crx out on another copy of Chrome first, in case it somehow overwrites/breaks the copy you have installed.

Thank you, Nolirum!
I did as you suggested, and installed Chromium in Crouton to test it. I get the error "This can only be added from the Chrome Web Store" when I try dragging in the .crx.
When I try 'Load unpacked extension' option in chrome://extensions I get the following error:
Failed to load extension from: /Volumes/KINGSTON/theidoftheextension/5.0_0
Cannot load extension with file or directory name _metadata. Filenames starting with "_" are reserved for use by the system.

I saw this on Stackoverflow about the error. I deleted the leading underscore from metadata folder and it works! Yay!!
https://stackoverflow.com/questions...ebstore-throws-error-package-is-invalid-detai
No problem!
Out of interest, when you dragged the .crx onto Chromium, and got the error, was that with dragging it directly into the list of extensions in the chrome://extensions/ window (where you see the icons, details, extension IDs etc)? Just wondering, as I get that error if dragging a .crx on to the browser address bar or on a webpage, but not if I drag it into the extensions list directly.
In any case, interesting info about the metadata folder nonetheless. I remember having to do the same (deleting the underscore) for some extension I was trying to edit. It's reassuring to to read that _metadata is just Web store hashes, and that modifying it shouldn't affect functionality.

Yes, I was dragging into the extensions list. When I try it a little popup says something like "drop to install" then the error.
Interesting. I don't get that error (tried on Chromium, too). Perhaps it depends on the extension. Thanks for checking.
I am attempting to extract the images from the game Summoners War to use for wallpapers and such.
I am able to get the APK file and have the image files in question in the assets folder, however they are not able to be opened in any image editor or photo viewer, I believe that they are encrypted. I do have access to the source code through Jadax, but I am not sure how to locate the key to decrypt them, or how exactly to decrypt them even if I had said key.
How does one go about extracting the images so I can use them for PC/phone wallpapers?
Solved.
Delete the first 16 bytes of hex data, then change the file extension to .jpg.
