Is it possible to theme/skin the Samsung keyboard? I haven't come across any.
Or the default android keyboard on here. I know I've seen all black android keyboards when I was using the mt3g but with the resolution and stuff I'm not sure if it works on Vibrant?
Sorry if this should've been in the themes thread but I figured since it's a question...

Smart Keyboard ftmfw. Well worth the $2.50, try the Lite
(Just a user, I have no association with the dev, it's just the first app I've really been able to fly on)
Thanks but that wasn't my question

It is possible. There's an app that I've seen, I believe it's 3 dollars with free downloadable skins in the market. It's called Better Keyboard, can't find a QR code right now.
Again...this isn't what I'm looking for. I'm looking for the stock SAMSUNG keyboard that is skinned. NOT a 3rd party keyboard. Or the stock android keyboard that is skinned/themed.
I have other keyboards such as better, swiftkey, smart, swype etc. But this is not what I'm looking for.

This I believe answers your original question.
I reckon I read your question right, here's the real answer...
On my OEM Samsung S8+ running Android 9.0, which has had no network provider tinkering of any kind, just current updates as Samsung intended.
Here you'll find all the things you can do with the Standard Samsung Keyboard including change theme colour. 7 Easy to follow steps below...
1> Swipe down from the top of the home screen
2> tap on the settings cog icon
3> select General Management
4> select Language and Input
5> select On-Screen Keyboard
6> Select Samsung Keyboard
7> Select Keyboard Layout and Feedback

I've tried Swype, HTC's default, Swiftkey (paid) and few others. By far and away, my favorite keyboard is the Gingerbread (Android 2.3 default) keyboard.
+1 Gingerbread Keyboard
- HTC Evo 4G
I have fully tested the Desire Z and despite has a small keyboard it´s better than any on-screen keyboard.
If you don´t have big fingers will be perfect
I'm currently using better keyboard 8 but still not too satisfactory

That I can understand
I couldn't get on with the basic android keyboard (it's like the WP7 keyboard) missing numbers off the top row etc so installed swype, and while the numbers are in the wrong place, it did make typing easier, especially when on the move.
Much as I like the Sense keyboard I think I'm going to go back to swype simply for ease of use.
I've tested a few and Swype is by far my favorite. Swype is other keyboards as T9 was to the regular ABC input.
Has anyone tried 'thumb keyboard'?

I concur, although it took some getting used to coming from HTC's version. Once I disabled the speech input to get my comma back I was happy.
Gingerbread Keyboard > All.
I love the Gingerbread keyboard; that and smart keyboard pro for all of the customizations you have with it.
Using Ginger right now on my Nexis and love it though.
Swype is by far the best. Took some time getting used to but it's much faster I find than regular typing
I'm totally clumsy with any keyboard i use so i just go with whatever looks best
I have adjusted to Swype by now and am pretty fast....plus I am not in a habit of forgetting spellings due to shortening to words!
Guys, does anybody know a keyboard that works like old phones with a keypad on them? Where it had 1-9 and letters on them. If you tap twice on 2 you get B, tap three on 6 and you'd get O etc.

IMHO gingerbread keyboard is the best
What makes the gingerbread keyboard the best?
It doesn't look much different to the froyo keyboard, other than having numbers along the top row?
I'm a big time texter, probably 3000+ texts per month, and using Swype changed my life. (sounds like those cheesy commercials lmao)
I use the better keyboard 8, as well.
Recently just flashed a ROM onto my phone and it has gingerbread keyboard on it, so i'm mixed between the two. Gingerbread seems a lot more responsive.
When I've used Gingerbread ROM's I've enjoyed the keyboard. Only if it would have easy access to function keys(colons etc.), I'd love it. Hated it at the start, but it grew on me a lot.
Just curious to know what keyboard you guys all use?
I use SwiftKey.
Swiftkey
Maybe would have been better with a poll.
Stock Android Gingerbread keyboard, the "Samsung" keyboard is a joke compared to the stock experience. Sometimes Swype, but not usually.
stock ginger keyboard here.
The awesome thing that is Swiftkey, of course !
Stock Samsung.
Swiftkey
10 Characters
SwiftKey all the way.
Tried a few and I have finally settled on SwiftKey, I used a Desire Z for 4 months so its gonna take some time getting used to a virtual keyboard again but the extra width and bigger keys is a huge help.

How did you get this working, I tried just copying the one over from my old HD2 mod but then cancelled when it said touch input will replace system settings or something along those lines and now get force closes even though I've removed it. Can this work alongside the other keyboards or do you have to replace? If replace, how can I backup the standard please?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks.

The HTC MOD one is really good, i used it with my Galaxy S. you need this version (which i am using): .
Just a little test for the various keyboards out there, over the many months since i first got my first Galaxy s, i have tried many many different keyboards and none, except the HTC MOD one, would allow you to enter anything into the drop down 'search this thread' box on xda's full site which i always found strange, granted, you have to be in landscape and it takes a couple of touches of the box to allow you type anything, but no other keyboard i have tried will allow you to do this! I challenge anyone to find a keyboard that does.
All of you using the Swiftkey or Smartkeyboard....
I tried using both. But in the email composition application neither of those keyboards shows word suggestions...i.e. in Swift key the word prediction bar appears in all apps except email compose mode. In Smartkeyboard, the word suggestions appear in all apps except in email compose mode.
Am I the only one facing this issue???
Please help. Because of the above I am having to live with the default Samsung Keyboard.
Thanks so much for the HTC keyboard link. The stock keyboard is very frustrating. I'd tried lots of others but all had their problems. This has improved my phone tremendously!
So I came from the Motorola Atrix, and I have to admit, the Multi Touch Keyboard on that was great. What keyboards are you using? The Android Keyboard seems too small and the Samsung Keyboard has no setting to stop vibrating.
Any way to port the Multi Touch Keyboard from Motorola devices?
I'm currently using the swype beta keyboard http://beta.swype.com/

I use Thumb Keyboard. I think it was mainly designed for tablets but you can customize it like crazy from font size to height. Use it for my SG2 and Xoom tablet. Best one in my opinion.

Tried SwiftKey X, which I like. Moved to A.I. type Keyboard. (<3 the Windows 8 Keyboard).

I really like this one. I was able to customize it pretty close to what the Mutli Touch Keyboard was like on the Motorola Atrix. I changed the height of the keys to 115% and it has been working pretty well for me. Not a lot of typos anymore. Thanks!
Using swype. Tried it a while ago on my xoom and hated it but since it came preinstalled on this I gave it another shot and have fallen in love!
Created a thread a short time back and myself along with many others seem to really like Smart Keyboard Pro. I was having a really tough time with keyboard accuracy and this program has a calibration tool to tweak it. Worked out great as I was on the verge of returning the phone...

I've tried a bunch of keyboards and this one is by far my favorite.
Just tried out Smart Keyboard (trial for now) and like it. I'm coming from a BlackBerry and am used to holding down a button for a capital letter... is there any Android keyboard that would allow a long press for caps?
AI Type is by far the best tap-style on the market.
Try Go keyboard, lots of setting, themes, swipe and in HD quality.

there is many keyboards that are nice for android...if u ask 10 people here you'll get 10 different answers....its. boils down to personal prefrence....some like themes...some keyboards don't offer many.....some like swype others do not.......many have free trials so u can try them out....I would say to try some out before buying anything....and most u can get on interent anyways....lol.......I personally have tried them all....and I have 2 I stick with one is slideit keyboard for swype....other is keyboard pro......its very fast and learns new words...can customize many options including how big the keyboard is...

Swype ftw just turn off auto correct

Thumb keyboard is the best I've tried. Love the customization. Swype is amazing too if you've never tried it. I ultimately had to switch back, which wasn't easy, because it really lacks customization (not like theme stuff but lower level stuff), because it was very annoying any time you had to manually type.

anyone know of a keyboard that lets you split it in two like those on the ipad?
Yeah in landscape mode i can type incredibly fast using the stock keyboard. The only Thing i don't like is if i type a word and dont realize it autod it wrong, that i can't select the word and bring up the word options, like you could with windows phone. Any of the aftermarket ones have that ability?
Sent from my Samsung Nizzote
Ok so Swype has what I'm talking about there.this is actually pretty cool.I'm gonna mess around with this some more and see how I like it. Swype seems to work real smooth with the stylus and I don't have to I use landscape.

Thumb Keyboard has that ability. Press a word, and the autocorrect list pops back up. The only problem I've been having with it is sometimes while I'm typing it doubles the first letter (for example ssausage, or bbank) and it doesn't automatically correct the error when I hit space like it's supposed to. I have to manually go back and delete the extra character. Happens quite often, and I don't know why. I'm actually thinking about trying out some different keyboard because of it. The default keyboard didn't have that issue.
Hey there guys, I have been on the hunt for the Best Android Keyboad, and I wanted to see what everyone here was using?? I have tried stock, predictive, and the slide type, (I have not had the chance to play with any of the other 3rd party keyboards, with all sorts of different technology's.
So, I was wondering if some of you fellow xda-ers wanted to weight in on this, and help guide me on my adventure??
Thanks in advance :cool

swype for normal language but my most preferred is hackers keyboard. latter has a full keyboard like on pc when in landscape mode. pretty awesome on big screens like galaxy note. also almost every keyboard has the stupid white text entry over the entire remaining screen where there is not the keyboard, which hides my chat windows away and makes landscape a pain. hackers keyboard does not do such. you have keyboard and chatlog.
I like Android 4.2's stock keyboard. It has everything you need. Predictive text, spell-checking, gesture typing, multiple finger gesture typing. I use English Azerty, and it is just great for me!
Swype, until I get 4.2

Swype, although the 4.2 keyboard's implementation of this looks nice. I also like Hacker's Keyboard on my tablet which is just a PC looking keyboard layout. If they could implement a Swype functionality with it then it would be my favorite.
Swiftkey 3 is my Favourite.
Simply because
1)It is more intuitive than the rest, thus producing more CORRECT Auto Correction
2)It learns your way of typing and in real time monitors all that you type and maintains your individual statistics
3)It individually Learns from your fb,sms, email and twitter threads.
4)It also provides a good number of visual customization options
Thus overall it proves to be the best package

Thanx guys for the input, and all the great info I find ShayonX, IMO, as to swiftkey 3, and as far as "prediction boards", go I think there is no better. I was actually going to go with swiftkey 3, but I just found it was lacking on skins, and customization. I like to be able 2 change the size, and width of my characters, (due to wide fingers), and skins are a great Addition
I tried Swift key 3, touchpal keyboard, go keyboard, and perfect keyboard, and ended up going with "perfect keyboard, bcuz the customization is very deatailed. I also tried swype style keyboard, but I found predictive to be the style for me.
I am running the Moto Phonton, so I won't be getting the 4.0 or 4.2 update, so is there anything else out there to look @??
