[Q] Opera Mobile Site Problem - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

in opera when i go to a site such as google.com or facebook.com it takes me to a mobile version of the site instead of the full site. so instead of facebook.com, i get taken to (m.)facebook.com . ive searched around the options in opera (v. 9.7) and the only thing i see is "mobile view", and i have it unchecked. can someone help?

bump for help and great justice!

In the Hints & Tips thread, tip 36 tells you how to change the User Agent for Opera. It is this that tells websites whether it should load the mobile of full version. I don't know what to change it to to get everything in full view but it's a start.
36. Get BBC iPlayer Mobile Website Working on HD2
The current Opera 9.7 version on the HD2 is not detected by the BBC iplayer website. Here is a modifcation to Opera preferences you can do to get it to work.
HLKM/Software/Opera/Prefs/User Prefs/Custom User-Agent
Change from HTC_HD2_T8585 Opera/9.7 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en) to HTC_Touch_HD_T8282 Now go to http://bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer. Videos are opened in your Streaming App on your phone.

[q] stop mobile web browsing help

Its annoying when you visit the web and it takes you to the mobile site. Both Opera and IE I have disabled mobile site viewing and it didnt do anything. Everything is still mobile.
Are there any other browsers? This is annoying...
There is Skyfire available in the Marketplace, or uZard. There's also Opera 10 available from m.opera.com
Opera 10 looks really nice, I love it. But it still has the same issue of displaying websites in mobile regardless of the settings.
On my ipod touch, the browser can be configured to trick the website into thinking its a firefox 3 system. Is there anyway this can be achieved on the WM?
Are there any definite browsers which allow for full viewing? With all this estate for the screen, I I'd like to make the most of it.

[Q] internet java prob and opera

Hi Chaps,
i know there is a way to fool opera into thinking my HD2 is another phone and let me watch vidoe clips on the internet but i don't know how.....help.....
also is it poss to get web site thumbnails on the internet "page" of mt HD2? All i get is a black and white planet icon......
i am running the LEON V3 wwe ROM, not sure what version of Opera
Is it not the site thet is excluding you from viewing?
Normally a site determines the client on the other side and shows it's content optimized for that client.
I believe what you need to do is let the other side (the site) believe you are using another browser.
eg setting your user/agent to
Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1)
Click to collapse
(Internet explorer 8 in this case.
Record your original setting before changing it...

[Q] Changing the default search engine

Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a way to change my HTC HD2's default search engine from google mobile to classic google. Both on the Internet tab on Sense and both on Opera's search.
Anyone knows how to do it?
Thanks in Advance, HTCOmnipotent
for the search box on the tab

for opera read up on changing the custom useragent.
Manilla solution works, But I've already changed my user-agent and it's not working.
I believe that it's because it doesn't search in google but sends a query to Opera's site which redirects to google mobile. The question is if there's a way around it?
Thanks for the quick reply, HTCOmnipotent.
i use opera 9.7 and just tested with custom user agent
Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en) AppleWebKit/886; U; en) Presto/2.4.15
gives real google.
i think some opera versions as you say use the opera proxy, and isn't there a turbo mode in opera mini? think that would have the same effect.
however, i can't see that would matter, (other than for location dependant services) the proxy "should" pass on the user agent it gets given.
Maybe, but the redirecting link will always link to the mobile version. It's a server side thingy, has nothing to do with the user-agent.
heh well in that case all i can suggest is use opera 9.7, works for me
If you ARE on 9.7 then its something else.

[Q] Avoid mobile version of certain sites?

I've a Galaxy SII,wife has an android 2.3 tablet. On some sites,it brings me straight to the mobile version of the site which I dont want. Some do give me the option of going to full site but certain sites dont.Is there a way I can block the 2 devices from automatically going to mobile version of sites and just go straight to normal version instead? Thanks in advance
Not really. It's not the devices that decide whether to go on mobile version of a web site. It's the web site that decides, based upon your web browser user-agent.
The only hack to force a website to serve you its full version would be to use a web browser that allows user-agent spoofing and change it to a desktop web browser user-agent. But then, depending on which user agent you use, you could have bugs because the website would think it's another device talking to him .
Thanks,so looks like it cant be done?
Why not giving a try to opera mobile? Im not sure if it is available for tablets but it's worth a shot, user agent can be changed from mobile to desktop trough the settings > advanced > user agent option
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Opera Mobile is a great browser with a lot of features, including the ability to switch the user-agent from "mobile" or "tablet" to "desktop".
This should serve you the full page.
But i think there is only a Setting for the whole browser, not for each site.
So you have to change the Setting (only 3 clicks) everytime
I think "Doplhin Browser" also supports changing the user agent, but i don't use Dolphin myself..

how to stop displaying "mobile" versions of websites? TMo:SGS2

So i've tried searching this answer and I'm not finding awhole lot. This is becoming quickly annoying.
No matter what web program I download (for instance - Skyfire), websites on the SGS2 typically show up in the mobile version of a website.
I've looked here:
http://www.mobilephonetipsandtricks.com/2011/08/how-to-view-pages-in-desktop-mode-with.html
but there is no "View Mode" on the Tmo sgs2. In Skyfire I select desktop mode but that doesn't stop pages from loading mobile versions of themselves. I've even tried "about:debug" but that does nothing.
Heck I've even tried a factory reset.
Anyone have a for sure answer?
Use a browser that allows you to change the user agent to desktop rather than mobile, such as opera mobile.
I've never had that problem using Firefox. Sites which have a mobile site and a "normal" site tend to default to the normal site and I can only get mobile sites up if I preface a domain known to have a mobile site with the usual "m."
i use dolphon browser HD and set my user agent to desktop.
Works without problems.
Do you have the T-Mobile USA version? If so I would check its foum, as there may be a modded stock browser like for the i9100.
Dolphin HD, opera mobile and Firefox mobile all have options to display the normal website as default via user agent.

try opera mobile or mini, or u can install ics and then the stock browser has a "request desktop site"

its an option in your browser settings
I've got Dolphin HD and works perfect. Go to: more/settings/dolphin settings/user agent and choose Desktop. Restart browser and You ready to go. enjoy
