i just rooted my x10 build number 2.0.2.A.0.24 with super one click and installed the dual touch by bin4ry but when i connected my phone to my pc it says a software upgrade is available.
1) what type of upgrade is this?
2) should i upgrade it?
3) can i still root after the upgrade?
Thank You
i rootet mine x10 3 days ago and there was just like yours and update.. i updated and the everything wwas the same WITHOUT root.. iam not shure but i think SE Companion is thinkig after root that you have other software and puts it back to normal !

yes its right, i had the same experience. If your phone has Root or Multitouch installed or other ROM although Froyo or Gingerbread, Pc Companion allways shows that there is an update. Just ignore it!
Hello all.First of all I would like to thank all the xda developers whos always hard at work improving our cell phones with bunch of cool programs
Im a complete noob at all this but with your instructions I managed to install GINGERDX on my Sony xperia mini 10a (american version)
Now my problem is my wifi could not find a network now after upgrading my rom. I was able to use my own network when Im here at home when I was running 2.1 on factory xperia
Is there a way to revert back to factory 2.1 like if it came stock on the mini 10 or before I upgraded to Gingerdx?
I might be selling the phone and just wanna make sure that I can downgrade it back to 2.1
Another thing that concerns me is that using my pc companion now when I plug in the phone it doesnt give me the option like charge phone and theres few more options on the screen and cant remember now..lol
Also when I look at the Phones info it says X8 on the model number ,could this be that I downloaded GINGERDX for X8 or both X8 and X10 share the same platform?
Any help is greatly appreciated guys
Thanks in Advance

Hi
If you're talking about the x10 mini, this might be the wrong forum...
Anyway, you could try the repair option using SEUS.
Good luck!

There is no official ICS firmware for our devices, SE never even gave us a frozen yogurt, so the only way to get ICS on your phone is either MiniCM9 or this one, which is based on ICS sources.
Oh, I thought that you was searching a kernel for android 4.0.4 . The thread i gave include's a link to a kernel that support android 4.0.4 (CM9).
great thanks SmG67 .... is there any way to adapt the SK17i file for the U20i ?

Nope, sorry, the SK17i runs on a newer SoC than ours, and they're not compatible.
You would have to recompile it all from source, which is what the provided links have already done for us , they are really the only options for our phones.
ok; we'll keep CM9 .... great thanks SmG67

upgrading new u20i
Hi guys, I'm new here. I recently bought new xperia mini pro u20i and I don't really like the old OS in it. Thought to upgrade to ICS but the problem is that I'm not experienced at all in these android update&upgrade things. (I'm mostly a computer guy ) I've read instructions how to upgrade etc.. but I'm not risking do it alone although I rooted my phone few hours earlier (whatever that means ) I need someone experienced to show me either on Skype or any other IM step-by-step how to upgrade my OS before I go crazy about it ICS seems like a cool upgrade and I want to try it out. Reply here or PM me, doesn't matter. Please just help me to accomplish this task. Appreciate it. Thanks in advance ))
(pardon my english)

Start thinking of your phone as a computer... It will make things easier.
Root access (which is easy to come by on Windows, but usually needs a password on linux) allows you to tinker with your system-files.
And there is a tutorial around here somewhere, where the poster has gone through the trouble of making screenshots for every step needed, so maybe you could search for that.

please can i use the same procedure used in updating xperia x10 to update my x10i?
i have xperia x10i and i want to update it please help me. please this is my contact [email protected]
Please Explain
What do you mean by updating it? What are the procedures you talk about?
Use Sony Update Service if you want to update from 2.1 to Gingerbread but back up your data first.
You can also use Sony PC Companion to update your software

@huddlestone2013. It depends on what exactly u want to do...?? If you just want to update your x10i just go with the sony pc suite and update it .
Insted it you want to put some custom roms, then first you need to root your phone/unlock your bootloader, then select any of the awesome roms provided in the development thread.
Here's the link for rooting, unlocking bootloader.
