Hey all....
I recently change the language of my X01ht from Japanese to English.
Unfortunately i dont seem to be able to type Japanese anymore.
I can see it and read it, but not type it myself.
also, i seem to have problems with my Radio. after the device enters standby,
and i turn it back on, i cannot reactivate the phone. i have to soft reset before i can turn the phone on, using the comm manager.
this is not my first upgrade of a HTC phone, but certainly the most exciting
i hope someone knows what i did wrong.
Also, is it still possible to bake my own roms for the HERMES???
Sorry I can't help with the japanese input... but for the other questions:

This is very weird, which radio version are you running?
As you said you changed your phone from Japanese to English I assume you already have bootloader 1.04, then you can try to flash an extracted radio rom to see if it fixes the problems.

Unfortunately not yet, the hermes upgrades use NBH format instead of the NBF you have probably seen in older HTC devices.
The available shipped ROM upgrades contain all the rom parts in one single NBH file (IPL, SPL, MainSplash, SubSplash, GSM, ExtROM, and OS), this file is signed with an HTC private key, and checked against a certificate stored on the phone before it is actually flashed, so if you cook your own ROM in a NBH file you get an "invalid cert" error from the bootloader when trying to flash it.
Some of us have started researching how to hot-patch the SPL in RAM to allow flashing self-signed code, but it is still too early to have results.

if you are not a japanese speaker, read this. it is easier, but not typical.

if you are a japanese speaker, read this. it is a typical way to implement japanese functionality with a non-japanese wm5.0 device using atok.

thanks for your replies.
Im running Radio Stack version 1.07.03.10. I just realized that i cannot send emails via my Gmail account under Flexmail2007. If i connect to a WLAN everything seems fine. But using 3G, i cannot send anything. Internet and receiving works fine though.
Also, once i use my hermes for a while (surfing internet via 3G), the back of it gets quiet warm.
I guess around 38-40 degrees celcius.
@qtotter
thanks alot, mate. That really helps.
i seem to have a few problems with this device. i didnt have a HTC for a while, mainly because i moved to Japan and my phones didnt work there.
Now i seem to be a bit behind.

This is a configuration problem, check the 3G and proxy settings with your provider, this has nothing to do with the radio stack, you won't fix it by upgrading it.

i can send email via gmail with pocket outlook, and so does a friend of mine... i guess it's your setting in the email client as pof says.
also, my x01ht gets warm, too, when it's connected to the internet via 3gpp.
Thanks guys...im gonna do a hard reset tomorrow and built it all up again.
right now its all kinda messy.
I have over 5000 programs and games for PPC and i wanted to see what still runs, so i have alot of dead folders and probably some unnecessary registry entries.
I also might change from Flexmail back to PO or something else.

over 5000 programs... if you use one program a day, it would take more than 13 years to try them all.

Thats certainly true...thats why i usually use only the ones that are interesting to me. but thats still alot...but since alot of the are a few years old now, i am reluctant to try them. i already had some problems with some software under WM5.
I installed the Japanese input...this language bar thing. But its really annoying. It opens 1 more bar every time i start a program/game.
it is also making itself very present. even if im in camera mode, when its in the
background, i can still move it. During games i have to move with the stylus, i will always pickup that little bar....very annoying...

i am not sure what the little bar you mentioned is. i guess you tried the method for non-japanese speakers?
i have never tried any input methods other than atok 4 ppc. if you do not mind spending a couple of thousand yen for japanese input, i would recommend you buy it. but it does not officially wm5, and you need a little tweaking...

if you have installed a japanese font and tweaked registry to read japanese, you can try ComPOBox (Otsu).
http://omaemona.sakura.ne.jp/lib/pobox/123/ComPOBoxQVGA.zip
the documents attached are all in japanese, but you might be able to find some english documents about this software on the internet.

How to avoid the unwanted appearance of the IME floater
1. Download, unzip and copy GWinter's KbdSwitch to Program Files. http://www.geocities.com/grieg_winte...are/index.html
2. Run KbdSwitch and set to Japanese IME.
3. Soft-reboot.
4. As soon the Pocket PC starts up again, the IME should be in Japanese. Sometimes, it is not and so you may need to reset KbdSwitch to Japanese IME and restart a few times.
5. Run any application that may use the Japanese IME, i.e. dictionary and wordprocessor.
6. Switch back to English IME (COMP IME).
NB: The floater should only appear only in applications that you started with Japanese IME on. Also, remember that the "X" in the upper right corner of the windows is actually a "minimize" function.

if you get rid of the software totally, why don't you uninstall it???

Hello,
Please, I tried this but couldn't make it work properly ... maybe I couldn't understand ... can you explain it better?
Anyway, Is there any way (even paying) to make the Japanese input work in a proper way, just like when you have the device in Japanese (always without the floating bar)??
Hi, some people have had success getting the touchflo interface to work on the Wizard:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314031&highlight=touchflo
but it doesn't seem to work on Charmer. Anyone else tried / succeeded?
If anyone has any ideas, please post here, thanks.
Its for Hermes, not wizard.
I think Wizard as well...

this is a realy goods news for us, but the fact is too few people use charmer. i only can do is wait for somebody make the sutiable rom for charmer.
today i used to make a test, write the Fantastic_b4_step2 ROM to charmer, but that is not function, stop at the second screen and system was down.
I have been using the htc Touch homescreen today plugin, wireless manager and dial pad on my charmer for the past week, however had to overclock the device to compensate for the lagging.

I've been using the above and a few of the other HTC apps on my Charmer for a good few weeks now and found that if I install the "v. 000.2 WM6 Essentials" rom and then the HTC apps I dont have to overclock the thing at all. Although the first time some of the apps are run they are slow.
I'd like to see someone add these to a new extended rom excluding all the naff T Mobile stuff that I have to bypass after flashing at the moment. I've also never flashed my PDA so often as I have recently.
I just have one problem and thats syncing with Vista Windows Mobile Device Center, its not working and giving me sync errors but doesnt tell you why typical Microsoft error trapping hey?
Adding the bits to the extended rom make n difference, however having them added to the actual rom does, anyway the charmer rom cookers have stated their stance on adding these tidbits to the rom and I appreciate that.
Regarding your active sync issues, are you using AS 4.5?

hy,
i use gprs-monitor, works perfect on all htc-ppc's. gprs-connection, internet-connection, usb-connection and bt-connection works great on all devices. but since i have a advantage i could not set a simple bt-connection (count all bt-conns)in the options. only the activesync-bt-connection to my computer (only this bt-conn will be counted). ive tried to make a registry-key called 'Bluetooth, but its still the same like the named bt-conn to my computer. on older/other devices from htc its a simple bt-conn-counter for ALL bt-connections, but not on the advantage. ive tried older versions of gprs-counter, but no bt-connection, only internet/ActiveSync/USB/and infrared??? this device has no infrared *confused*
any ideas to solve this prob?
sorry for my bad english, hope u understand what i mean
man it has been so long since , htc tool the effort to put an update to the htc hd2,
all the official firmware are on 6.5, whereas Microsoft has released software OS till 6.5.5
if the releases an update it may get the reputation it deserves,
some problem i facing with the device are
1) win 6.5 sux
2) keyboard is a crap to text, get off with the arrow keys
3) music player is crap, cant handle the library when 8 gb of songs are put in the card
4) sms application hangs, when lots of sms are there
5) slight pink issues in camera is minutely present
by the way love the fone otherwise, using android has solved all my above mentioned problem with the phone
1)android is battery consuming
2) screen freezes a lot..
well better would be , if htc ported window phone 7 on hd2,, would be awesome, i like to stick to stock...
ONE BIG ISSUE
no software by htc to back up the hd2 contact and sms, i find outlook very crappy...
this is the only department where i think nokia is better,
Way you don't simply take a Cooked Rom?
I have WM 6.5.X
I have Lots of application on my device.
I have fore about 12GB of music on my SD, without any problems.
I hate it to delete message, I have all my message I send and received from the very first day on my device (01/01/2010) Fore the moment +/- 700 SMS
+/_ 300 photo's I take with my device on storage card (without pink issues)
and +/- 100 files (PowerPoint/Word/excel/Adobe)
Ow yes, I used my device professionally.
Well all together I must say I don't have problems. but I must be honest I changed my Rom from the very first day I have my device.
So like you see it isn't a problem of device but Rom!!
There are lots of Rom on the market; so way stay with a Rom who don't satisfy you??
Only thing I noticed is that android reacts WAY BETTER then WinMo, and that's a *****, because winmo is our primary OS. I'm using android all the time.
BTW HD2 has standard an option to backup everything! Myphone!!
Also free: pimbackup.
But WP7, forget it, it won't see daylight.

1) I disagree, if you said '6.5.x' I would agree, so I've no advice for you here.
2) Use Swype, or try others
3) TCPMP or Core Player
4) Disable HTC messaging check this thread
5) ---
6) DotFred PIMBackUp. I hated Nokia, I don't have much experience with other OS, but I don't know of another which is so versatile and customisable

hate nokia more than you and you ever can
hey i never said anything about 6.5.x, i was talking about 6.5 ..
and by the way with nokia i was only refering to there pc suite application...
i strongly feel htc is a big enough company to launch there own software for there fones...
and dont you guys think its time htc released a new firmware.
and with MS myphone, yu can only keep it between windows,
ya.... bbobeckyj has just told you what i wanted to tell you..... Install Swype keyboard which is damn fast when type sms! Very Cool software... And also use PIMbackup, you can just 1 click to back up all your data within a sec.
For sms hang, you could update your sms here --> "New SMS Function Update" http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=812&news_id=407
But i would also suggest you to flash a customize ROM that could solve all the problem Try Energy ROM...
Yeah dude, you don't buy a new phone and expect it to work perfectly. You need to tweak install and stuff, and that's what makes it interesting. I like to customize and tweak my phone to the max. And I have none of the issues you have.

4. im a extreme sms writer, so i would hate that problem. but anyway, im using winmo for a long time, so i used to the default windows messaging app and disabled the htc messaging (wich really suxx xD) bbobeckyj posted a link how to disable it
5. since latest updates i dont see any pink **** anymore Oo (just realized)
probably it was the camera update i made that i can use the volume buttons as shutter key....
