Does anyone know if and how you can use custom icon for Folders on the Home screen. I dont see and option for folder in the custom shortcut section. am i missing something or can it not be done?
I don't think it can be done by default, unless I'm also missing something. I use an app called FolderOrganizer. It's not bad but sometimes the folders are a little slow to open. Its nice that it lets you sort all your apps by labels though. And you can add custom labels and categories.
right,I had that same issue so I got apps organizer.
Organize them into whatever you want and place on home.
They are customizable just like ADW

On the S2, it seems when you remove an app, the app drawer doesn't re-org it just leaves a gap meaning it has to be manually sorted. Is there a way to automatically sort it other than using the list view?
I also have a similar question to this that I can't find the answer to anywhere..
Basically I have the same problem with around 9 app drawers half filled. I could sit here for an hour dragging each app icon, one at a time, to other app drawers to consolidate them into less drawers but it's very tedious and annoying to do this.
In some apps, I can select multiple icons (such as multiple pictures) and then move them all to another folder, or perform an action on all the selected icons; I can't seem to find a way to do this with my non-rooted SGS2.
I'm trying to find an app that will allow me to set categories and then assign app icons to those categories and then be able to sort all my icons based on the different categories... again, I've not had any success finding an app like that...
...so I've ended up here, on XDA Forums, to ask the people who know more than me.

you have let me think 3 options or maybe two...either download appzorter application from the market..that basically will sort all your applications in alphabetical order and also the folders you create. then if you have gaps it will sort that for you as well and fill the empty spaces.
or second option use a different launcher from the market and it sorts the icons and folders for you.
one launcher that lets you organize your apps into categories i think its either nova launcher or 360 launcher..no need to be rooted or anything like that to be able to use those apps. good luck let me know how you guys get on
Thanks, I have the EX Launcher.. but I don't like it because I have to setup the home screen gain and I had trouble finding the same widgets I had on the out-of-the-box launcher.. maybe I will try again one day.. but for now I will have a look at appzorter to solve my immediate annoyances
+1 for Appzorter
Why Samsung didn't include this function is beyond me.

To add a folder just go to Applications -> Context menu (hardware button) -> Edit -> Add Folder

I've been using Zeam 2.8.8 as my desktop launcher and think it's great for the Nook Touch, simple, fast. I am having a problem when trying to remove large widgets, i.e 4x2, 2x3. I long press the widget and drag it to the trash can, I'm not that stupid, but when it's in the right spot the widget and trash can are supposed to both turn red. Problem is on a grayscale like Nook there is no visiable change in color. Is there an app I can use to remove the widget? I've been looking for an app the past three days but not lucky. I also am using ES File manager which allow sys access. Is the widget listed somewhere in the system files so I can delete it?
Please don't suggest I update to a new OS, it's not possible. The Nook Touch runs on Android 2.1. While people are cooking custom ROMS nothing's out yet.
Maybe you should just try a different launcher
I like GO-Launcher, much better than my original Sense 3.0 for example..

The widget related data is specific to launcher so you can either try new popular launchers like GO launcher, launcher pro, ADW launcher which are prettu stable and user friendly.
Or else if you want to stick to your older launcher then in that case you can clear data for launcher application. (Goto setting - application - manage application and search for your launcher application. Open it and clear data)
sorry I don't know how to remove specifically a single widget from launcher data. By clearing data all user defined shortcuts and widgets will be removed. (Launcher Reset)
Enjoy!!

I like Go Launcher and would use it, in fact that is the launcher included on the Nook Touch rooting file, but when looking in the app drawer the font is too big and I can't see the app name. The funny part is when looking at the recent app tab and close app tab I don't have that problem.
Hey all,
I have recently installed ADW Launcher EX in order to set my tablet up using the Hubs philosophy. Looks great so far, but the one thing I did like was the favorites shortcut in the status bar on the stock sony launcher. I would like to add it somewhere, but it won't let me add it, probably because it is some kind of hidden system app.
Does anyone know how to add these hidden system apps to homescreens or wherever without need root access or a custom rom?

Without some serious dev work, it looks to me like this is not possible. It seems to be a part of the stock launcher from what I can tell. You might be able to write a non-launchable app that just launches the Favourites, but that would only work if they had any public Intents built-in.
Not too sure, since I'm at work and can't check right now, but thats just my thoughts.
Thanks,
I had thought as much. I actually don't mind the sony stock launcher, just wish I could create shortcuts that can jump to certain screens like in ADW launcher. I'm sure if I rooted, I could find some way to access that applications independently, but I don't really want to go that route with my tablet. My phone was enough lol
I frequently change ROMS, and I always have all my apps backed up in Titanium Backup. This is great, because I can reload all my apps and gamesaves with a single click.
My only problem now is when it comes to setting up my homescreen. I like to have about 4 folders on my homescreen. To create these folders in ICS, I have to drag and drop my apps from my apps bar into the main window, then into their respective folders. I can do this with ADW launcher by simply restoring those settings...but I would prefer to get away from nonstandard launchers.
Question: Is there a way (program or other) to batch send all my apps to my homescreen so that I can speed up this initial setup process? Thanks in advance for any answers / guidance!
I used MyBackup with the same result when it came to widgets, any widget wouldnt display including clock. However, app shortcuts displayed as they're supposed to.
Hope that helps.

Will this program allow me to send multiple apps from my app drawer to my home screen? That's really the only thing I need. I don't care for widgets all that much, as the only widget I use is Pandora....easy enough to create on my own.
Hey guys, was wondering if anyone on here knows how to re-arrange folder layouts in a different way than the usual stock android layout. I currently use apex launcher I aim running Hyperdrive 18.1 KK 4.4.2 and I love how it works. It is smooth doesn't lag much, I like how I can change the grids and batch adding apps to folders and all that stuff. But what I would lovee is to do is keep my folders content as is, but just rearrange how they are laid out on my home screen. What I am looking to do is something like pie controls but for all of my folders and be able to launch the folder contents as they are right now in my home screen. Is there any quick way to do this. I was looking at the pie control app on youtube but it doest look like I can folders, rather individual apps or shortcuts to wifi and things like that. Hopefully someone catches my drift. I would like to make my home screen more futuristic and different.
Cheers!:good::good::good:
