Hi,
is there a way to setup the sorting-order in 3D-gallery? I want to have always the most recent pictures and videos first, not as it is now as last. I have tried using alternative galleries like multi-touch gallery and JustPictures! but I'm not quite happy with them. Multi-touch gallery is crashing all the time and JustPictures! doesn't show up my videos and is also a bit slugish. I don't need the eye-candy in 3d gallery, a simple gallery that shows me my pictures and videos with a sort-order where the most recent object is shown first place, has multitouch zoom and is fast would be perfect. I'm on cm6.
+1 I'd really like to.figure this out as well
+1.
I really like the 3D gallery, it's only the sorting option which I felt is missing,

I have tried.Working nice.

clicking the camera button locks the res at (640x416) other then that it is a welcomed improvement over the stock HTC gallery app.
any important steps to be undertaken while installing this ?
It's very slow to update thumbnails on my Legend. To scroll and view lots of photos is not really feasible. Waiting, waiting waiting...
I can understand, why they left it out. Switched back to faster Legend Stock without the eye candy.
Nice, but indeed really really really slow
EDIT: it is really slow when U first open it. But when u open it, leave it for a while it starts rendering and caching your tiles, once that's done it works fine (maybe even better then stock photo app)
Just one note, the button to the camera doesn't work, it just give u an error message.
Yes is too slow.
If Legend's gallery showed also the picasa albums, that would be nice. like this one does.
Flikie Wallpapers HD
Flikie Wallpapers HD for Android on the markedet has a addon called "N1 3D gallery".... its the same but faster now and here the Camera actually also works on the Legend. (Use markedet enabler if you cant find it)
I am using this instead of the Gallery3D.apk (this gave me an error on the Camera and was damn slow).

s7yler, ive tried out those apps you mentioned and the camera is still locked to 640 pixels.
Geuss where just going to have to wait for 2.2 to be ported hopefully.
Is there any app that can help you make folders/photo albums visible?
Default album viewer isn't able to do that (it shows all possible pics on sd card) so i will appreciate any help from you guys.
I too am looking for something like this, found an app called 'justpictures' but i'd still have something more like the htc photo album
Better then album Thanks a lot dude

Yes, much better indeed.

Try "Picture Folder"
This is best and simple
More along the lines of what I wanted, thanks alot
Are you serious ? On my Mini the pictures are blured (not sharp) on fullscreen view and when viewing with zoom the picture does not load, it is like apliyng digital zoom a small resolution photo. Well, sometimes on some pictures the zoom works and load the full resolution picture but it is slow.
edit: I have found that if i open an album in portrait mode and then turn to landscape mode the pictures are blurier and zoom is not loading 100% resolution photo. Maybe it creates cache for portrait and when turn in landscape mode it uses the same caches(thumbnails at 240x***?) and it looks blurier. For zoom that not work i can't find any excuses.
edit2: It looks like default Album is displaying photos in zoom mode 100% with fewer colors than justpictures. The gradients can be seen. maybe that's why is faster at zooming than justpictures.
floating image
I tried a bunch of photo album apps, and the best in my opinion is Floating Image. You can customize which folders you want (my photos albums are simply organised by folders/sub-folders so it's great for me) and the layout is superb. The only problem I have with it is that you can't zoom when vewing photos but I think it's because X10 mini isn't multi-touch : you have to keep pressing on the photo to bring up a menu and open the photo with the default vewing app and then zoom. Besides that, this app is the best.
I think this thread is posted in the wrong section. This should be in Themes and Apps subforum and not in Android Development
QuickPic is my choice for photos, shows photos in folders (can hide specific folders), very fast thumbnail generation, good quality.
What Do You Want Basicaly?
if You Only Want To hide some folders from default pic album than here is the solution..
create .nomedia file from notepad in your system if you dont know hot to create tell me
than place this file into the folder which you dont want to include in your picture album
all pictures in the folder with this file will not be added in your default picture album when you want to add those pictures delete this file from that folder via any file manager simple it is...
.nomedia is not a solution, because it will also prevent player playing music from these folders. Get Just Pictures for free from the market. It allows you to ignore folders you don´t want to show up.
Fish Bowl Photo Viewer is my favourite viewer. It's fast and easy to use and lets you set the default folder to view.

you can use a file explorer
So, is it just me or do I find the stock gallery app very sluggish and horrible in viewing pics. It's very slow, lags a lot and jumpy when you zoom in and out. I hate to say this, but compared to the iphone's picture viewer, the atrix's gallery app is years behind. Even my work Bb bold 9650 has a better picture viewer. Does anybody know an app that can replace the gallery on this phone, something that performs smoothly n cleanly?
Also, I find the pics I take really inferior to any other phones I used, even those that are of the same MP. I find the pics very grainy and not sharp, and the colors are a bit off. Is this software related within the phone or hardware? If software, any apps out there I can use to take pics?
Thank you for any suggestions.

YES, YES, AND YES! I know exactly what you mean. The zooming and all was just TERRIBLE. I can't even believe they let the phone pass with a gallery as sh1tty as that one! Anyways, I used the Gallery 3D app straight off the Nexus. It works great. (attachment down below. Make sure you have non-market apps enabled with super one click)
Yeah the camera app and the stupid gallery is horrible. They have the same **** gallery on the droidX and presumably the other ones.
The stock 3D gallery is better, but doesn't function 100%. Very small things are off like the pictures will be out of order for some reason.
Also, reviewing the pictures from the camera app will just dump you into a jumbled field of images if you use the 3d gallery. For previewing from the camera app, you still gotta use the stupid Moto gallery if you wanna have a chance of finding your picture...
I tried to install the captivate camera app. no luck... :-( This frikin atrix doesn't even have touch to focus. Don't know what they were thinking.
i use " just picture " i like it
pretty snappy
Oh man the gallery 3d is sooooo much much better than blur's stock gallery app. Downloaded it from the market n it flies so fast in this phone. But yeah still gagging the issue where when viewing camera roll using it jumbles all the pics together regardless of date or folder.
Alright so all we need now is to find a good free app for the camera. Can't we use the stock nexus camera just like we use the stock nexus gallery? Isn't nexus's apps are basically just plain vanilla Android app which should work on any Android phone that is rooted? V

I personally use Quick Pic in Market. Fastest Gallery app. Period. It's a shame it can't be used to view from the camera.

Oh, this one is good too, although not as snappy as fluid as the gallery 3D. However, the pictures seems to come out more vivid and sharper, with smoother color gradients compared to Gallery 3D. I like both
We still need a camera app. Oh, wait, try vignette on the market. They have a free one that's limited function but this camera app works with gallery 3D very well.
I use camera 360
its decent and give me enough controls over the stock camera
Camera360 Ultimate on Atrix

Are you able to save edits to pictures taken from Camera360? I can take the pics just fine but if I go in to the gallery (using gallery3d from the app store) and edit them I'm unable to save the edits. I can edit/save pics from the default camera app just fine.

this app is great!!
the best camera app I thought was im the captivate as it had anti-shake. I cant figure out how to get it to install on the Atrix though.
Looking for a slideshow app to use on my CM7/22. The stock gallery slideshow gets to the end and stops, looking for it to loop. Searching the market now, but would appreciate suggestions.
My absolute favorite app to view images and slideshows would be QuickPic, it's updated regularly and has many features. For example he recently added Nook support for better thumbnails, before that the thumbs would look kinda pixelated.
For a no-frills simple slideshow app that uses local images and just works, I really like this one: Slideshow Bob
It lets you select individual directories on the fly, as well as the ability to process subdirectories, and it does support looping of images as well.

QuickPic is great! It's fast and works for setting wallpaper too! No more wallpaper set & save for me!
As a photographer and an Android geek with a Nook, I used QuickPic and the Gallery.
The Gallery that is with Android and CM7 was made by Cool Iris, they have a fantastic algorithm for resizing images that are not to the Nooks scale. I use cool iris code on my web site too. The Gallery is also the fastest of all the ones I have tried, others just take way too long to paginate and resize pixel definition. But the Gallery does not have a looping slide show. Personally when I am showing pictures I like to flip and wait for the viewer to see and take it in, so I do not use the slide sow on its own. If I did need a looping slideshow I would use QuickPic, once even lager pictures are in memory, it’s all good.
Hop this helps!
JustPictures. has the slideshow, loops when it gets to the end, supports external image sources like Flickr and Picasa and others, and is written by a very involved developer who takes customer suggestions.
Try Slideshow HD
Ok, so I'm a HUGE 3D fan! HUGE!! Love it. I know that many people seem to feel indifferent to it, and that's ok. However if you are like me, then this is for you! For a while I wondered what it would be like to see the 3D photos I've taken on my EVO 3D on a big screen 3D TV so that I could see more detail in 3D (since I couldn't zoom in 3D)!!! Every time I try to zoom in to one of my 3D photos it goes into 2D mode to display it... so I was stuck.....
WAS.
Enter Tobidale3D!!!! You can ZOOM into your 3D pictures in 3D!!!!! It doesn't go 2D it stays 3D!!!!!!!! And you can even adjust the 3D amount, swap the r/l eyes, and it even links to Phereo, Flicker and another site and lets you view 3D images directly off those sites and save it to your phone in a number of formats!!! Another cool thing is that it converts the analglyph formats so that you can view them on your phone (you have to press a button to change the mode). Incredible program!!!!!!! Thought I would share. In fact, the ROM I'm using it has problems with, it crashes when trying to view the photos (it's a photo viewer also) and my wife has a different ROM on her phone and it works great. It FC's on mine but this is a big enough deal for me to switch my ROM!! This thing is BADA$$!!!
UPDATE 2-28-2012:
Ok, so now that I can ZOOM in 3D I've noticed that at some point, seems to be past 50% zoom, that the images are often misaligned. At first I thought it was possibly the viewer since I don't notice any such thing prior to zooming, however I tried the application 3DSteroid Pro, which can auto align 3D images, and I used it on some of my misaligned images and it fixed them!!! I can now zoom in fully and the images are properly aligned!!!! I'm so happy!! It's only $2.50. I would highly recommend it!!!
Nice find. Works on the camera folder, but crashes on the 3d photo folder and another one. Report sent to author. Running stock EVO 3d gsm, so its not the rom, its the app.
Outstanding support for a free app, emailed a bug report, got an updated build the next day that fixed the crash.
Browsing Phereo 3d feels fäster than the Phereo app itself, quality seems better.
Zoom in 3D is finally here, best viewer so far.
The. updated version that fix the EVO 3D bug may be released as soon as this weekend.
A must have app for all EVO 3D.
Excellent find!
ncie find
works on ROMEOS 1.3.1 , GSM
WHOA!!!
Cool Thanks.
Agreed, an amazing find being able to zoom and adjust the 3D effect on the fly is amazing! I can now zoom in to pictures and explore the details
The more we get apps like this the 3D becomes less of a "gimmick" Im so happy I have the Evo3D I would so miss this type of effect if i ever switched to a non 3d phone
The app was updated on Market this weekend, should work well for Evo 3D now.
Tried it on my 3DTV via hdmi out and it was most mostly black, time for another bug report...
Updated OP on how to fix alignment issues that are now evident due to being able to zoom in 3D!!!
