Hi guys,
I know there are a few threads on here, but they seem to die off back in May time.
Gfs just got an x10 from Orange. There is no branding on the handset, or indeed any of the menus, but when you open the browser it goes straight to Orange.
It's also sim locked to Orange. I guess it's branded, but how would I know for sure?
Also, what is the latest easiest process for debranding?
Thanks
Have you tried the search button? Its pretty useful at times like this when all your questions already have answers
To debrand follow steps 1 to 5 HERE then run SEUS, to unlock contact Orange or search online.

Hi guys,
Done a search, and as far as I can see, I'm going to have to pay 17 Euros to unlock my Hero. Since the recent root access breakthrough, is there an easy way to SIM unlock the Hero that may save me 17 Euros?
Cheers,

Seriously, not even one reply?
Is it possible to unlock a Magic after it's been rooted?

lol. be patient as the Hero forums are very small and not too much people is available to respond your questions.
I believe if you do a google search you can find cheaper solutions, however it wont happen for free. I for one had it shipped to me Factory unlocked from HTC.
if you really need sim unlock pay the money its not that much, but if your willing to wait, im sure it will come soon enough.
The phone came out within the last month, it takes a while for people to figure out things like that.
Flash the phone ?
What if you flash the phone with the hero stock rom, shouldn't that clear all sim locks etc? I flashed my phone with the factory rom to start anew, and you don't need to worry about locale(localization settings), as they seem to autosetup during the flash.
Anybody know if it works ?

Your phone will still be unlocked. If its not, remember the code and type it in again.
-- Edit -- Sorry, I completely read the question wrong, I thought you asked... "If the phone is unlocked and I flash a rom, will it lock the phone again".. God knows where I got that from

No - the SIM lock is a quite separate thing. Flashing a ROM from an unlocked Hero on a locked device will not unlock it.

Hi
This is my first post and I hope it will be helpful to anyone interested in unlocking their HTC Hero on the Orange UK network.
Goto:
HTC Hero - ROM upgrade for HTC Hero (Orange)
and download the ROM:
ROM Version:2.73.61.66 for Orange. Then you can miss out all the the MODACO rubbish, because this ROM allows you to use the code without hindrance (TESTED), Install it onto your phone, then goto:
HTC Hero Unlock Code | Unlocking.com
and purchase a SIM UNLOCK CODE (£11.99 at the moment, 50%OFF) and follow instructions to unlock your phone.
The main reason I have posted this is that "Unlocking.com" will issue you with the unlock code within 5 minutes they say between 6-12 minutes.
IT WORKS and they're one of the cheapest around. I have used them and they are really FAST and the code WORKS...
Thanks
i can comfirm i have done this and it worked for me on uk orange network.
Correct. The 2.73.61.66 update now allows all unlock codes to work as designed.
i did try and put a link to rom here but because i am a new user i am not permitted to post outside links SORRY
this is so easy also dont forget you need htc sync installed on your pc you can download it from htc too.
I think this will make a good sticky but also put in title uk orange
Anyone got a free way to unlock the phone for any sim yet? Something like a code generator or software update?
Didn't work for me

I went onto unlocking.com, and paid the £12 or however much it was.
They emailed me back in about 2 days and advised me they couldn't get a code, so they went to my network (Orange UK) and came back saying they were unable to get a code.
Went to my local unlocking place and they said there isn't a way to unlock Android phones as of yet (not without being all technical and downloading all these thingymajiggs to hack your phone and whatnot).
So I'm not too sure how I would go about getting a code to unlock my phone.
You could try following this suggestion on modaco.
The only caveat is that /some/ orange firmwares are buggy & won't accept any unlock code, however if you've rooted your phone & are running a custom rom such as MCR 3.2, you shouldn't have any problems.
Hi all new to this forum.
But i've had my htc hero for a month now , and being trying to get it unlocked ever since.
Finally today i found out that if you have the latest ROM Version 2.73.61.66
then your phone can be unlocked, apparently htc and orange put some bug in the orange htc hero's that did'nt allow unlocking , but with the new rom version this now allows unlock.
This is for orange , don't no about other networks.
Also you must have been using the phone on orange for at least 3 months .
Which means i have to wait another 2 months ,DOH, but at least ther is light at the end of the tunnel. Hope this helps.
kopite61 .
Sorry Free Unlock is not possible to get for the latest Phones,So You need to pay for this Phone to remove Network Lock, you can get the Unlock code from here Theunlockarena.com also and Unlock it....

A quicker way - if you don't want to wait - would be to go to a website like www dot mobifreedom dot net (they charge £12.50) and get it unlocked. I got mine unlocked after T-Mobile refused to do it for me. I swore to never get back on TMobile again
Well a friend of mine said that it's possible to bypass the trouble of unlocking, if you flash your firmware.
I have Xperia X10i and it's network locked. It's bought from france. Also he mentioned something that i have ''Orange''. If there is any guide to do so (i didn't find any on my own) i would be grateful if any of you guys forward me there.

Probably not. I have an X10i which was locked to Orange. Simplest solution is to google "unlock X10i Orange" and follow the rabbit. There are a couple of sites where if you provide the IMEI for your phone, part with about 20 Euros, you will receive an email in about 4-5 days with the unlock code and instructions to use that code. Be very careful entering the unlock code, as a mistake can mess the phone. Its not difficult.
Phone was recently bought in Canada signed to Rogers. Flashed new firmware onto it, version 4.0.A.2.368. Could Rogers branding it is stopping the bootloader from being unlocked? I assumed that flashing generic firmware onto phone would also debrand phone.
I'm afraid you can't unlock the bootloader because your phone is branded...
Flashing another firmware will not debrand your phone...
maybe you should wait till developers find a solution or debrand your phone(if it's possible).
Ah yes, I had assumed that since it's branded I could not unlock bootloader. Searching around google i found a site that confirmed branded phones needed to be unlocked before bootloader is open.
Devs close thread please.
Have a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037874
...I don't know if it could be useful for your device though..

Hi Guys,
Sorry If this has been asked before.
I am thinking of debranding my Orange lumia 800.
Do I need to sim unlock the phone first or at all or once its debranded will my sim work? I ask because after debranding my HTC Desire I had to sim unlock before the phone would work properly.
Also are there any decent guides to follow I found one here that seems ok.
http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Le...okia-Lumia-800-Giffgaffers-guide/td-p/2891451
Any thing I should be aware of with the Orange version of the device before I dive in?
Thanks for any help.

Hi,
From what i know debranding or reflashing using NCS will not remove Simlock from your phone.
The link you provided is okay to follow but as i remember there are simpler way to debrand/reflash your phone.
Orange variant should be same as other variant, so it fine to debrand.
Hello everyone, I'm Santiago, from Argentina. I bought an Xperia Mt11i (Neo V) smartphone last year from argentinian phone carrier Claro (ex-CTI).
It's my first android phone and as I came to learn a bit about the system, I wanted to unlock my bootloader o I could install custom roms and kernels, as I have been playing with some cutom roms, but I can only access the ones that do not require Bootloader unlocked (i.e., I can't install CyanogenMod, MIUI v5, etc).
Checking in the SERVICE hidden menu, the status in my phone says "Bootloader Unlock Allowed=NO" (so I coudn't follow the official Sony guide to unlocking the bootloader) and I contacted my phone carrier to ask them wether they could do something about it, either by free or paying methods. They replied that bootloader is a device function, not a service provided/modified by them and that I should ask directly to Sony. As there is no Sony mobile branch in Argentina, I went to the talk.sonymobile forums to post my question in hope that someone may be able to tell me wether something can be done about this. Over there someone said that they thought it could be done (something about having done it with xperia Z), that I should ask over the xda forums, so here I am.
I searched info over the forums but didn't find any threads regarding my specific problem, which is changing the "bootloader allowed" status from NO to YES with phones bought from a telephone carrier. I've found tons and tons of info on how to unlock the bootloader, but all of them are for "bootloader allowed=yes" cases, so I thought it was worth the shot asking about this.
I should also add that my phone is in fact SIM-locked at the moment, and I have no idea wether this is a limitation for what I'm trying to do or not. Reading throughout the web I encountered several places that said that SIM-Unlocking your phone via NCK code (which I could obtain from my phone carrier) does not, indeed, unlock your bootloader, but I was wondering if it might, at least, change the status to "Unlock Allowed=YES" (this, I read, is sometimes the case).
I am eager to find a solution to this situation, so any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Santiago.

Well that's too bad, I was really hoping I would be able to somehow.
After calling Customer Service a lot, I'm now waiting for a direct reply from my phone carrier about the subject. Over at the sony forums they told me that Sony couldn't unlock it because of legal issues with the phone carrier, as the phone carrier is usually the one that demands to have a locked bootloader. I'm still hoping, however, that there'll be some sort of workaround and that either Sony or my phone carrier will give me some sort of solution. It's been done before, apparently, with Movistar in Spain. Apparently Sony was able to unlock the bootloader for those that bought an Xperia 2011 phone with Movistar Spain that had "Bootloader Unlock Allowed : NO". I can't post a link that thread yet, as I'm still new here at xda, but I'm quoting what it says over there: "In a nutshell "The Solution Sony proposses is, for those of you with a code-unlocked terminal, to contact Sony at [email protected], with your email, imei and unlocking code".
I know it's a particular case with Movistar Spain, but I'm still trying to get some info on wether something similar can be accomplished between my phone carrier and Sony.
Thanks for your reply, and I'm still hoping someone over here can tell me something about all of this.
It's your phone carrier mate, they locked up the phone. Call them everyday until they remove the sim-lock on your phone..

Well that seems to be the case, even though they are playing dumb and saying they are not the reason for locking the bootloader and that I should contact Sony and have them solve the problem for me....
I think I'm about to go into war with these guys. I kinda get why they lock the bootloader, what I won't forgive is being lied to like this. It's outrageous.
I'll check this post periodically though, maybe there's one of those miraculous solutions that I can try in the meantime.
Thanks for replying anyways.
Sadly even if your bootloader is unlocked you won't get to install the custom kernels
As your fastboot would still be SIM locked
And that can't be undone by Sony ofcourse
--You've to unlock fastboot
--Unlocking bootloader is no big deal -you'll have to pay few bucks and use wotanserver or s2 tool
There's a guide on using Testpoint (unofficial) unlocking in Neo V development section
Hope this clears out your issues more clearly
Sent from my MT11i using xda premium
my phone had the same problem and i briked my phone and then repaired it with preset.ta file and then used s1tool to unlock it and it is unlocked now
you can also use plasma tool for free unlock(i tried it also and it worked)
