Rom Manager works well on my phone and I can flash recovery, install from SD, fix permissions, etc. However, if I power the phone down, hold down the up+down+power, let go of power, it boots into recovery, but only the generic recovery, not Rom Manager's recovery. The only way I can get to Rom Manager's recovery is to do so through the app. Has anyone else noticed this? The reason I ask is that I read that in order to properly reset the battery stats you need to boot into recovery from an off state.
Boot into regular recovery and click "reinstall packages."
I don't always complain, but when I do, I #BlameWes
1. In Rom Manager, select 'Flash ClockworkMod Recovery'.
2. Select Galaxy S Vibrant.
3. ClockworkMod will download and you will see 'Successfully downloaded ClockworkMod Recovery!. Select OK.
4. Power down and boot into Stock Recovery.
5. Select 'Reinstall Packages". It will now say something like "replacing recovery. This creates an 'upsate.zip for Clockwork. The phone will reboot back into Stock Recovery.
6. Selact 'Reinstall Packages' again. You should now be in 'ClockworkMod Recovery'.
Whenever you want to get into ClockworkMod Rcovery, you just have to select 'Reinstall Packages' from Stock Recovery and it will load up.
Also, you can just select 'Reboot Recovery' in Rom Manager and it will take you to Clockwork.
This is awesome! Thanks!

Lol, how did you expect to enter recovery if you didn't flash it?
You need to flash the recovery first
work on getting the recovery flashed before installing custom ROMS. You can opt to choose Clockwork (ROM manager) through market or Amonra.. either ways would be fine.
Then go with the usual flashing after your done with the recovery.
Simplest thing is just go to market.
Search for Rom manager. after install click on it.
Then when it opens press the 1st from the top and you have ClockworkMod.
For flashing the ROM. Find the rom in file explorer or any file manager and click on it, it will prompt for rom manager. click rom manager and wipe dalvik cache and Wipe Data and cache..
No worries ,just install Rom-Manager -> flash clockwork mod recovery.
Then it will notify succesfully flashed clockwork mod recovery..
Try three buttons combo..
It will work .
hoping it will solve your problems.

Yes, IMO ROM manager is the easiest to install...a bit of a user friendly
Stuck on White HTC Loading screen. I was loading CM7 onto my phone for the first time, used Rom manager to load the rom it did the intial restart and went to the white screen. Any help would be awesome.
Pull the battery. Replace the battery. Hold volume down and power untill you see the bootloader screen. Using the volume keys to scroll highlight recovery and then tap the power button to select. Once in recovery (still using volume keys to scroll and tapping power to select) select wipe data/factory reset. Once it does its thing select wipe cache partition. After that is done go to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache. Now choose go back. Once in the main menu select install .zip from sdcard. Then select choose .zip from sdcard. Find the CM7 .zip and select it. ALWAYS flash from recovery NEVER from Rom Manager. It causes issues more.often than not.

Using ROM manager to load ROMs can be problematic. Install ROMs through Clockwork Recovery Mod. If you have Clockwork Recovery Mod installed then wipe your Data, Cache, Dalvik Cache(in advanced) and format system(in mounts and storage). Then choose install zip from SD card. Find your ROM and select yes. If you don't have clockwork recovery mod I'm attaching a version you can install from hboot. Place the file PG05IMG.zip on your SD card and turn off your phone. Hold the volume down button and turn on your phone. It will ask to install the PG05IMG.zip say yes. You will now have clockwork recovery mod installed. Delete the PG05IMG.zip after you have the clockwork recovery installed or next time you boot into hboot it will try to install it again. To access the recovery turn your phone off and then hold down the volume down button and turn on the phone. It will boot into hboot again and select recovery. Once recovery has loaded follow the above instructions to install your ROM.

I had almost the same problem last night. But dont worry.
- boot into recovery (power on while pressing volume down)
- **If you dont have your rom in the SD: then go to mounts and "storage > mount" and connect your TB to your computer and place the zip.
- wipe cache
- wipe dalvik (advanced > format dalvik)
- format system
- Flash your rom
Thanks! Giving it a go now. Had a strange loop that occured due to an old radio file i still had lingering on my sd got rid of it and it appears that cm should be done installing in a few!
Again Thanks x3
I rooted my phone months back and last week installed Olympus triten Rom with beats ultimatly decided I didn't like it and tried to install infectedrom eternity 3.5.
I did a factory reset erased as card then downloaded the Rom and installed via recovery. But whenever. I start my phone I get the beats bootbscree. From Olympus. Also tried to install the infected theme for infectedrom via recovery and it just bricks.the phone.
Here's how to fix it:
I'll assume you are using TWRP recovery. If you are using clockworkmod, it will be similar. If you use ROM Manager, you have clockworkmod. If you don't know/didn't install one, you have TWRP.
1. Turn phone completely off
2. remove battery and put it back in
3. Boot into bootloader - Hold volume down and power until it boots into a menu
It might say no PG86IMG found. Ignore that.
4. Use volume down to navigate to the RECOVERY option
5. Press power to select it when it is highlighted
The recovery will load. Once you see a black menu, continue.
Notes for when you are in recovery: Use volume down+up to navigate and press power to select options.
6. Again, use volume down or volume up to navigate to the wipe menu
7. Select 'Wipe Everything'
8. Once it's done wiping, leave the wipe menu if you are still in it.
9. Go to Install Zip
10. Select infectedROM
11. Select 'Flash Zips Now'
12. Zip will flash
13. Reboot after flash
If you are using clockworkmod...
After getting into recovery:
Notes for when you are in recovery: Use volume down+up to navigate and press power to select options.
1. Wipe everything
2. select install zip
3. select infected ROM zip
4. Select yes to confirm
5. Zip will flash
6. After flash, reboot
Notes for when flashing a new rom:
-You don't need to erase SD card. In fact, it's recommended you don't.
-Instead of factory resetting, wipe through the recovery using the steps above. It is more effective.
-If the problem still isn't fixed, download infectedrom again and try flashing it.
Have fellowed the steps according to Liberty3 For The Droid X2 post, did manage to get the phone rooted, stuck at the recovery part. i assume i should get in "Android recovery", which is the only recovery option i get, then i did wipe data/ factory reset. but when come to select "install zip from sdcard"
-select "choose zip from sdcard"
i dont have those options, what i have is apply sdcard:update.zip
then i figured i would just change the name to update.zip. which didnt work, stuck again because it wont take the signature. so what should i do?
Are you using the bootstrap recovery or stock recovery?
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
You cannot use the stock recovery to install a ROM. You need to download BSR (Bootstrapped Recovery); which can be downloaded from here: http://www.bandbinnovations.com/xda/DX2/Bootstrap_signed.apk
Once you have that, you need to move it to your SD card and install the app. Here's a step-by-step instruction.
1. Download Bootstrapped Recovery (BSR). http://www.bandbinnovations.com/xda/DX2/Bootstrap_signed.apk
2. Move the Bootstrap_signed.apk to your SD card and install it. *Go to Settings>Applications and make sure Unknown Sources is Checked!*
3. Afterwards, open the app and Press 'Allow' when it asks for root access.
4. Press "Install Recovery".
5. Plug your phone into a WALL Charger! This MUST be a wall charger.
6. Once you've done that, press "Recovery Mode" and your phone will reboot into your new, custom recovery.
7. Now once your in there you can do Wipe Data, Wipe Cache, and then in 'Advanced' you can do Wipe Dalvik Cache.
8. Once you've finished that, go to 'Install ZIP from SD', then choose the SD your Liberty ROM is on.
9. Select the ROM and allow it to install completely. It will tell you to reboot once it's done.
NOTE: Because you wiped the Caches and installed a ROM this will be a LONG reboot. It can take up to 5-7 minutes for it to finish completely, so please give it time.
That should be what you need to do to fix your problem. The Stock Recovery will only flash things signed my Motorola, like updates. A custom ROM obviously isn't signed by Motorola - thus not allowing you to flash it.
The Custom, or 'hacked' Recovery bypasses this and allows you to do it anyways. Hope this helped!
got it working, thx everyone
Hi
i have problem with entere my T959 to recovery mode
I read instruction how to enter this set to recovery mode(Volume +, - and power) but it not working to me
When i press - and power the phone enter to:
Android system recovery <2e>
but i dont have install from zip file
i have only:
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
and that all
When i press + and power i have Download mode
Any idea how to enter to recovery mode to install zip files from the sd card??
Thanks
Download CWR from my signature and put it on your internal SD as update.zip. Make sure it is the only thing on your internal labeled that. Boot into recovery and scroll down to reinstall packages. Hit it. It will cycle through and come back to stock recovery. Hit reinstall packages again and it will cycle through again only this time it will go from stock (blue) to CWR (green). There you will have the option to install from SD, wipes, ....
Thanks
Your solution it is working
