HELP!!! Clockwork partition problem - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all.
I got a problem. I opened Rom Manager and did the partition SD card thinking it was going to partition my external SD card.......well, I think it did the internal. Now when I boot I get to the GalaxyS screen and then the screen just goes black. Have to remove battery to reboot. I have tried ODIN to restore a factory image but it does the same thing. Anyone have an idea. How can I just format the internal memory to factory and restore to factory. Thanks!!!

There you go
Hey man... You're gonna get flamed for this, it's one of the things "everybody" knows not to do with RomManager, but since I did the same mistake back in time I'll help
First off: can you get into download mode? (turn your phone completly off, plug it into your pc with usb, wait for the "charging" screen, then press both volum keys + the powerbutton to restart, release the powerbutton immediately after restart and keep holding the two volumekeys till you enter download mode)
then flash this.
Then flash back to stock, or any other ROM that includes kernel...
/edit
And please read some instructions this time (couldn't help it, haha)

Problem With Odin

I'm trying to load the Unofficial 2.2 ROM onto my phone and I'm using the Odin method. I got into Download mode, got the pit and the ROM and put it all in place, the process starts but it just keeps getting stuck at "Do not turn off the Target." Now if I restart it, it won't even go into my phone.
Any suggestions why it keeps stopping at that point?

My advice is to repost this question in the Q and A section and then edit your OP, to indicate you've done as much... Add a link in THIS OP to your Q and A thread. You should get some help after that i'm sure.
does you phone just sit at a black screen? mine did the same thing black screen to where i doesnt look like its on but if you turn the lights off in the room your in you will see the screen is actually lit! no idea on how to fix this myself... on mine if you press and hold the vol up, vol down, and power buttons for a while, (until your fingers hurt) you will eventually see a black screen with red writing with some stuff i was unable to understand! but thats all i could get out of the phone... called t-mobile and they sent a replacement... but i would like to know what i did wrong because i will be flashing froyo alot and i dont want to run into this problem again... btw can get odin to recognize the phone at all!
If your phone is not Hardkey locked.
1) Remove battery from phone and put it back in again
2) Plug your USB into your computer (and make sure it is not in your phone yet)
3) Push and hold down your two volume keys (DO NOT HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON)
4) Plug in the USB cable into your phone
This takes me into Download every time. I did what you did. I had problem with Odin my phone and it just got stuck. I unplugged the phone and rebooted it. Or I should say I tried. It was dead to the world. Black screen. Power button did not start etc. Ran into a note from Kazer and he suggested the above procedure and it worked every time for me. Holding down the power button did not work for me.
Try it out and let me know if it worked.

No Download Mode, No Recovery Mode, Stuck at Vibrant Load Screen

Hi all,
Once again, I've hit a wall with my phone. I apologize ahead of time for the length of this post, but i want to be very clear about what happened so I can get it resolved as soon as possible. Also, I have searched for hours to find an answer to this problem, but I've failed to find anything that helps.
Earlier this week I was running Bionix Fusion 1.1 but with all the buzz on the forums about the new 2.2 ROMs I decided to try one. I downloaded Axura 2.0.5 and backed up everything with Titanium Backup and ROM Manager. I then went through ROM Manager to perform the install. This is were I fear I messed something up. I renamed the .zip file from StockKernelAXURA.zip to update.zip (just like when I installed Bionix). Booted into Clockwork (through ROM Manager) and flashed the zip. Everything looked fine during the install, but I'm stuck at the Vibrant load screen.
I found one solution that uses Odin to reflash back to factory, which I did and everything was great... but then I re-flashed and tried Axura 2.0.5 again using the same method. Now I can't boot up (still stuck on the Vibrant load screen) and I can't enter Download mode. I've tried all kinds of button and usb plug-in sequences. Nothing! Please, I know someone out there is thinking "Noob... this is a simple fix!" I'm hoping that person reads this and can lend a helping hand.
Thanks in advance!
This always works for me take out battery plug in usb to phone and computer hold down volume keys while holding the volume keys place the battery back in this should take you to download mode if it doesn't your phone may be hardware locked there are methods of making a device to force download mode but try what I said first then if that doesn't work at least you have an idea of what else to look for
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
It worked! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I knew there had to be a way I was missing! I'm flashing back to stock (again) and I'm going to try flashing Axura again... but seeing as the method I used has failed twice so far, any advise? I love how Team Whiskey provided detailed instructions for flashing Bionix Fusion... so shouldn't the same process work for different ROMs? Regardless, now I have another trick up my sleeve.
Thanks again!
Flash it through clockwork in rom manager choose install from sd then go to where it is in your phone click on it that should send you to clockwork recovery then go to install.zip from sd then navigate to whatever folder its in then go to it, it should install you dont have to change the name
Still flashing , thanks to odin & tw
If your unsure about anything I said dont be afraid to ask if I have the answer I'll help you out

I'm assuming you're stuck at cache Just take out your SD card, the large one. I always odin with my sd card out. It gets past that phase where you can get stuck. That will work, and DO NOT rename the {insert rom name here}.zip file to update.zip, just enter clockwork mod recovery and choose install zip from sd card and find it, BUT you NEED to
1. Wipe cache partition
and
2. Wipe DALVIK cache (in advanced menu)
BEFORE installing a rom.

So rather than start new thread I thought id continue on this one saying that I have the same problem only no matter what I do I can not force any mode at all. My phone is currently stuck stating that it is converting data partition to optimize for ext 4.
I really dont know what to do at this point.
I tried the following steps
1. Download all the files required in the "BOOT CYCLE" section of this post.
2. Remove everything from your phone (SD card, sim, battery).
3. Plug your phone into your computer WITHOUT the battery, as you have already taken it out in the last step.
4. Press and HOLD vol. up and vol. down.
5. As you are HOLDING these buttons, reattach your battery.
6. You should be in Download Mode.
7. Unplug phone from USB
8. Follow steps 4-8 from the "BOOT CYCLE" section.
with no results. It doesnt even give my phone enough time to show the charging indicator it just automaticlaly boots.
OK i got it to go into download mode. i just plugged in the cord and held down the volume rocker.
no recovery mode
I have the same problem I can't get into Recovery mode I have an HTC G2, I was installing a new kernel, then the recovery Mode stop working, Got stuck in HTC Logo.
Any idea how to fix the problem or what's my problem??? i'd already try some tips but nothing works....
try using the vibrant toolbox to flash the new rom

You most likely made that backup when voodoo was disabled and now when you restored it, voodoo was enabled. Try booting up in recovery[VOL UP + VOL DOWN + POWER then let go of POWER and keep holding VOL UP + VOL DOWN] and installing a voodoo kernel like overstock.
That may be what happened, but dont know anything about the history of the phone. I have tried over and over to get into recovery mode and it wont go past the Vibrant load screen :/
I am also stuck at the vibrant boot screen.
I was trying to update a rom via CWM on my phone, the phone restarted and is now stuck at the vibrant screen.
I have had trouble connecting my vibrant to the computer before. I am not sure that even if i get my phone into dl mode i might not be able to connect to ODIN.
Please help!!

HUGE PROBLEM - bought a messed up Vibrant

I just received a Vibrant (GT I9000M) I bought on eBay, this is the first time I got a phone that is totally buggered up.
It powers on, Firmware: 2.2, Baseband version: T959UVJK2, Kernel version 2.6.32.9, Build: FROYO.UVJK2
No android market app
Internal SD card error
volume down does not work, volume up button acts as if it were volume down.
If I connect USB, phone powers off, unplug and it powers up again
cannot power boot recovery mode
- I can trick it into recovery by doing a phone reset because it cannot mount internal SD.
cannot go into download mode, may be because USB is unresponsive or volumes don't work.
cannot load update.zip directly to SD from phone itself because it can't mount internal SD, therefore can't save anything on phone.
Any ideas?
Search for the odin thread. You can fix this.

Go into Download mode:
*** DOWNLOAD ODIN AND FOLLOW DIRECTIONS HERE:
http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/
(I'm not sure if you can use this ^^ method if you have the GT-I9000 version but go the bible:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771111
and do some research there.)
1. Take off back cover
2. Take out battery and SIM card
3. Plug into USB.
4. Hold down BOTH volume buttons at the same time,
5. While STILL holding down BOTH volume keys place in battery while STILL holding down the volume keys.
6. Download mode appears, then follow instructions on link above.
I should have posted in Q&A, my apologies.
If I can get an external SD to mount, can I flash to an update.zip on the external?
I have tried ALL odin options, cannot get into download mode at all...

Not the right place to write ( should be Q/A)
but looks like you have and old Froyo installation on the phone, they use to mess with all the keys.
Follow this guide

if you still have problems let me know, I will try to help you

IFv ou have a Vibrant (T-Mo??) and it shows as a I-9000 then you have the wrong rom installed. Use ODIN to go back to stock
Ifo you bought a I9000 (and in the labels model is I9000) but it has installed the Vibrant rom, then you are in the wrong place!
First clarify which phone (hardware wise you have)
If you cannot get into download mode in any normal way you might have to
use the JIG
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=819551
but first you may want to goto the I9000 section and look at how they
get into download mode, I think it's hold home plus one of the volume
buttons.
Getting to Download Mode
To do this, you'll need the phone charged. This works on ALL vibrant, not sure on the 1900.
1. Set up the Odin to whatever you are trying to flash. (Find an Odin Thread to get the files and instructions needed).
2. Plug in the USB to both the phone and the computer you're using. (Important Note: you must have the correct Drivers needed installed before starting this process).
2. Hold down volup, voldn, and the power button. (All at the same time). The phone should switch off and reboot with the samsung galaxy s showing as it's booting. Do not let go of the 3 buttons you're pressing, it should switch off again to restart. Immediately it switch off, let go of ONLY the power button. Your finger should not leave the volup/voldn buttons during this process. This should bring you to download mode.
If this doesn't work, you're DOOOOooomed. Jk...trust me, it's almost impossible to break/brick this phone (I've tried numerous times).
Damn. Is the water indicator at least still white? Or did they remove it.?
I modified Quick Boot to boot into download mode (which is free from the market so NOT warez)
if by some miracle you have root installed on that phone and can download this
attachment you have a shot at recovering that phone.
Dont be rude, play nice
HUGE PROBLEM - WRONG SECTION
If your going to beg strangers for help on a bad deal you got on e bay at least do us all a favor and read the thread rules before posting. I hate the impatient people that can't waste their own time reading to fix their own problems and insist on wasting everyone else's time. Just read all you can and you will know as much as all of us, if you simply don't have the time return the phone but don't post cries for help in development I find it somewhat disrespectful to the entire community and it happenes way to often so it's hard for me to sympathize. OP don't take this personal your post was just the straw that broke the camels back that's all.

My advice about your phone... odin is your only hope to get that thing going ( if your volume button is truly broken, adb can reboot you phone into download mode)

Yeah go ahead and use the following Link:

Download Odin and Official T-Mo Vibrant JFD firmware. Once done open up Odin on your PC. I would do a battery pull first then when your done plug the phone into your PC and iniciate the 3 button combo to get into download mode. Then just put your 512 pit file and your JFD rom into pda. Then flash away.
What recovery are you in 2e,3e,voodoo ? If you had a backup you can restore. First you have to locate the backup or the original rom zip. Look through sdcard and find them. If you had rom manager, look in cwm backups, you might find nandroid backups there. You'll have to install original zip or backup. Original if on sacard should'nt be hard to find. Be patient and don't do anything drastic !

i rooted the phone, downloded titanium back up and rom manager, tried to flash the sonofskywalker rom that is on rom manager, after multiple tries where the phone would just reboot to the way it was "stock" then i tried to flash it by going through the sd card i beleive and now it stuck in recovery mode and will only boot thru to the samsung vibrant screen then goes back to recovery, or when it is plugged in it just shows the battery sign but the battery sign doesnt say charging it is just frozen on that screen.

1st you need to calm down. You may not understand the steps if you panic.
The instruction in the link is good. If not, watch this video also...it's the same thing.

If did it correctly and cannot get into download mode, that's a different story. I had the same problem as you and ODIN it back with JFD fixes it. I got mine fixed from the thread below and watching youtube.

Iv done it the same way he is doing it in the video and it will either take me to the recovery page or just recycle the battery screen back to me.....
try this:
Take everything out of the phone
Plug the USB into your pc
Hold ONLY the volume keys down (keep them held)
Plug the USB into your phone
Put the battery back in should be download mode
Let go of the volume keys

so when i do that it just brings up the big charging battery and it has the little sun dial in the middle that usually indicates loading, but it just stays stuck on that screen. Thats why im so confused it wont go past that screen.
EDIT- and i am leaving the sd card and the sim card out when im doing that correct? although i have tried it both waysss.
And it does the same thing if you hold all three buttons down and let the charging indicator flash 2 times and when it goes out on the third time let go of the power button only?
If it doesn't work with that method you may actually have a hardware locked phone that you need a jig for..

yea it does the same thing, when its plugged in so far nothing will come up but the frozen battery screen......... im not exactly sure what a jig is or how to use it haha but when its plugged in thats what happens, and if it isnt pluggged in it takes me to recovery screen.......
thats really odd because it shouldnt go to the charging screen in the amount of time it takes to bring up download mode.
Your absolutely sure your holding both the volume keys down and putting the battery in with your other hand with it plugged into the phone and pc... because it should skip the charging animation all together.

[Q] GS3 won't turn on

Hey there,
recently my GS3 started dying after i turned off the screen and the only way to turn it on was to pull the battery and re-insert it.
anyway, now my device won't turn at all...
I managed to enter download mode by pulling out the battery, pressing Volume down + Home + Power and while pressing inserting the battery (read it somewhere that it can replace the jig and it actually worked!)
and I flushed a stock rom (4.3) which I trust.
after the Odin done flushin it reached the part where it needs to reboot and againg, my device won't turn on.
what can I do??
tanks in advanced!
Rony.
**UPDATE**
after few tries I managed to turn the device on. maybe the trick with the battery didn't actually work...
its just sometimes turns on and most of the times just stays dead....
but it goes directly into recovery mode and there's the Android thingy lying down dead.
can't seem to boot up the system?
should I just try again to go indo download mode and flush again??
