Hey,
The wifi router app on the hd2 works a charm for me... however, ive always been confused about one thing:
You have the option of which internet to use; Contract WAP or Contract Internet.
Both work, however with my unlimited data plan, what should I be using?
should be the same...or can you recognize a speed drain?
i would choose internet....just my feeling
DN41
Ive been slightly puzzled by this too - I get the choice of Virgin wap / MMS / GPRS

Hello
I am planning to get a Hero but I want to know if old good WAP GSM data connection works with the Hero?
I mean not only internet browsing but also with apps like Weather...
before i had my 3g internet running fine but my nephew got a hold of my phone and all of my T-Mobile Internet number and proxy is cleared. Does anyone know the correct T-Mobile settings for ACCESS POINT NAME and/or proxy server settings?
Also, my NETWORK MANAGEMENT is set to T-Mobile Internet then MY WORK NETWORK. is this right?
i have a bit of a problem with 3G data and mms. in original stock 2.1 from SE i can disable 3G data, but that will not turn off MMS sending and receiving.
however, in most froyo, including in CM6-final. this is not possible. we have to enable both 3G data to get mms to work. however... i dont have a 3G data plan, and it can be very expensive .............
here are some facts that i have tried out:
1. using SE stock 2.1, it is possible to disable 3G data but still receive send mms
2. using SE stock 2.1, it is possible to have only 1 APN for mms without other types (default, supl), but still receive send mms
3. it is a froyo bug, based on things i found on the internet
4. some brand such samsung motorola, have patched it
5. i tried to set up different APN for mms (mms) and 3G (degault, supl). still can not do mms without 3G data
6. i set up only 1 APN for mms... it doesnt work
7. different APN for mms and 3G data, send an mms to myself, works, and then i delete APN for 3G data. now mms can work with only mms APN. and i dont have 3G data activity at all. but after restart. can not work again
anyone, any idea how to get the mms working without enabling 3G data?
ok. thank you
cheers

this is exactly what i was trying to explain
btw, i tried to use SMART APN apk. but it doesnt help
i am using x10 mini pro on owain CM-6 final
Anyone ..?
i know it might not be important to some. but here, where i live, i could get charge with something like 2000 USD if i am not being carefull with my data usage....
i really need mms to work, without having to enable data for web. just 3G for mms only...coz i can not text sms to other operator, must use mms. sms is locked inter operator only
perhaps this might help u

thanx man!
unfortunately, i tried that in my step 6 above
"6. i set up only 1 APN for mms... it doesnt work"
it won`t connect. saying data service unavailable... the only way i can get mms to work is by "fishing" 3G data using 2 APN, and then delete APN for internet, leaving MMS alone. still, after i reboot, i get data service unavailable and have to "fish" again.

i assumed that u followed the instructions word by word rite?
personally, i'm not using 3G connection, i only use 2G and my service operator won't charge any excess fee if i leave my connection on..so i can't really help much
i just happen to saw that thread and i thought that might do some help to u..
Yup
Thanks. I really appreciate it. I can not use 2g here in japan. All network services are in 3g. No more 2g.
Oot a bit, it was quiet amazing for me, as a foreigner, in sendai that during the earthquake, 3g data service are fully operasional at full speed eventhough we hno gas water and all.
Anyway, I finally found the answer.
I installed quick settings from market (they have several app with that name, i use the one by sergej shafarenka). Use it to disable mobile data.get mms, with not 3g internet.
it wasnt my idea too to be honest. Someone post it in an old thread for samsung galaxy. I ran in to it accidentally today. Fiuuuhhhh...now I would not have to worry anymore
Hi!
I am on Giffgaff in the UK that uses O2's network.
I can use my phone perfectly without any wifi, screen freeze or battery issues so am very pleased with my SIM-FREE purchase.
However since day 1, I have been unable to download anything off the market using 2g or 3g data connection. It's not just games, all apps etc - can't download anything!
As soon as I switch to wifi, I can download anything I want.
Anyone aware of such issues with this or their previous WP7 devices? I think it's more to do with my APN settings from network provider, but they have exhausted all avenues in helping me with sending settings. I've used HTC Connection setup to install my Giffgaff settings.
Found the answer.
HTC App to Select Network settings for sms, texts.
Then manual install of APN settings for 3g/4g live connectivity.
However, my provider doesn't have correct settings for MMS. Cant send or receive any. However, I get unlimited internet so can email as many pics/videos as I want!
Leaving this thread, in case in future someone has issues with HTC Titan.
There is a problem with Lumia 800 with DiGi Malaysia sim card. It seems the 3G speed is extremely slow on Lumia 800. I've done all the apn settings (with and without them).
- when I put DiGi sim card into iPhone, HTC, Android phones, the 3g is fast.
- when I put DiGi demonstration phone sim card into Lumia 800, the 3g works.
- when I put my customer DiGi sim card into lumia 800, 3g is sooooooo slow (it fails to load google, facebook most of the time).
- when I put my customer DiGi sim card into E72, N82, the 3g speed is fine
I had changed my Lumia 800 to another set and the problem still persists. As I recall DiGi uses 1800Mhz, but does that affect 3G data connection? I have the 'H' icon all the while.
This is frustrating as I have a data plan but I fail to have a minimum EDGE connection. Could it be that Lumia 800 is having an issue with this particular network? as the other telcos are using 900Mhz.
Same problem to me in europe. (not sure what frequency)
Okay I managed to fix my problem myself.
Some details of how things went by at "bit.ly/yE6P1b"
Turns out the culprit is the "network setup" app which will cripple whatever internet settings your phone has and will currently the only way to solve is to reset your phone and do not ever run that app at all, best if you uninstall to prevent accidental clicking of that app.
Stephen replied together with Matti to my mail and let's pray that they do something about it.
Thanks for the detailed analysis. Quite weird that this app causes this kind of issues. Very inconvenient as I'm travelling quite often and have to load different configurations from SIM cards.
You wouldn't expect a Network Setup app to cripple up your connection speeds. But I've never understood the need of such an app. You can add your APN manually in the settings, so what's the point of a Setup app?

there is a lack of options in the apn settings

In APN settings you can only add one thing. So in order to get both MMS and data to work with some providers the Network Setup app is required.

True. It would've been better if we could add more APN's
