Hi everyone. I've been switching around roms a lot lately, and with my most recent changes, I've been having problems with my music player not showing all of my music. Everything I have in my library is in MP3 format and located in the Music folder of my SD Card. The catch is that it only seems to be happening with CM6.1 roms (I've run Kaos.Froyo and Nonsensikal so far).
I've researched and haven't found a suitable answer as to why this is going on. Can anyone possibly lead me to one?
Thanks.
I can see all of my Music, but since the RC of CM, no music player I try will read the ID3 tags anymore. It's got to be a CM problem, as this is not an issue on non-CM ROMs.

I didn't have a problem until this latest batch of 6.1-based roms. However, I did notice that some of my artists were not recognized in the 6 roms that were recognized in all of the various Sense roms I have run (I haven't tested this with any 2.1 roms other than Sense ones; I just like Sense). In the latest case, it just seems to ignore that the files are even there.
Anyone have a solution?
Are 6.1 roms based on 2.2.1? Because 2.2.1 has a few issues with it and apps like keyboards and music players. Hopefully an update comes out for those apps to fix compatibility.

I was just running version 35-1 of Kaos Froyo, which I assumed was not based on 2.2.1 seeing as his latest release has that in the changelog (I am flashing that now).
I've always deleted the music app and use ^3 (cubed) instead.

Like I said, it happened with all music players, not just the default one. It's like something in the OS is preventing music apps from reading ID tags right.

So I just flashed CELB to see if that made a difference. It found all of my music, but it's reading next to none of my ID3 tags and most of it comes up with an unknown artist. Freakin' weird.

Do you know if they are ID3v1 or ID3v2 tags?

I get exactly the same problem, on both Froyd for the HTC Hero and Floyo. It isn't a problem on 2.1 based ROMS.
I know there is a bug in the core Android system that affected WMA files, but it seems this bug is more ellusive and doesn't affect everyone. If anyone knows a fix.....

Running Calkulin's ROM and Pershoot's latest kernel. Got my invite, loaded Google Music app, uploaded a ton of songs, can see my library on the Cloud, but force closes everytime I try to play a song. Any ideas?
Anyone else seeing this, or am I the only one?
Pershoot's kernel doesn't play nice with froyo. Clemsyn's kernel doesn't play nice with ginger. Here's the rule of thumb: froyo use clemsyn, ginger use pershoot.
CM7.0.3 stable plays Google Music from cloud not perfect but Ok.
Can anyone using Calkulin's ROM and Clemsyn's kernel confirm that Google Music is working? Pershoot has been really good to me with Calkulin, so I'm hoping to hear from someone prior to making the switch.
Went ahead and made the switch to Clem, still get immediate force close whenever I try to stream music. Like before, I can see my entire music collection, but can't play anything. Any other thoughts?
Are you overclocking? Try not to.
Also, did you try sample tracks from Google music or just yours?
Can you play mp3 from sdcard using Google music player?
Disabled oc with Pimpmygtab, still force closes. In light of the fact that no one else has chimed in that it's working for them with this combo, I assume this is a common problem. Local files seem to play ok on Tab, but it defeats the purpose of Google Music and the 60 gb of uploaded music. At least it works fine on my Droid X!

Well, that means something going wrong with streaming with this rom/Google player.

Working great on VeganTab with Pershoot's kernel.
That's another Ginger-based ROM through, right? Perhaps Google Music just doesn't work with Froyo-based ROMs.

Cm7.0.3 stable.
Did anybody else notice a bug in SE Music app on newest Gingerbread Rom? For me, when playing music, tracks are often interrupted by a strange electronic noise.
BTW I'm using "WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread". Did anybody has similar problems
and does this bug also appears in stock gingerbread rom or is it due to using a custom rom? I would be thankful for any answers.
Best regards.
me too
i have this problem too in WB 2.3.3 ROM
a lot of lags in audio player
I'm on wb hotfix 4 and ubermusic, and have no problems at all

i think the music player is really buggy... apart from the static noises between tracks, after unlocking from lock screen the track skips. Theres no shuffle/ repeat options at all, and wma files doesnt show up.
I was about to post the same thing. Other than her has anybody found a mp3 that does not skip.

Well true and there is lag in music playing when using applications. Feels like slow processor or what.

Yeah, I`ve same problem, when using that stock music player(which has that widget). It`s really annoying, like stopping music playing for 0,5 sec and then continuing, that really sux :/ I hope there`ll be some fix for it...
Using this one here.

Best combination I have found so far! Also on hotfix 4 and ubermusic gives me the least amount of trouble for playing music. Still skips when turning screen on but it is much more tolerable overall!
Yes guys, seems to be an issue with 2.3.3. Wolf is working on a new ROM (as the rooted ones are based on an indian firmware of X10 - but apparently the ROM from GB doesn't have this issue).
Please check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16278495&postcount=1904
Is not related to SD Card, nor to hardware (as it worked ok with 2.1 no stuttering ever) as far as I can tell.
Since Monday I'm on 005 but still the same probs with the stock player. Now 2 days later, I've considerably fewer drops. Didnt install any add apk's. very strange ?!?
by the way ;did anyone test mp3 with different bit rates ?
I've tested 128 kbps (same issues) and vbr 192-320 kbps (same issues).
I connected to my car's hands free and still had the same issues.
I connected to an A2DP music gateway and it didn't hiccup when rotating but messed up when turning the screen back on/off.
Someone said that the UK GB version doesn't have this problem. Wolf also mentions this (I think he's going to use the pre-rooted UK version for 006). Right now Wolf's rom is based on the pre-rooted India version.
Is anyone running EWJet? That one is based on the UK version and it would be interesting to know if that one is having audio issues.
I also have similar issue its too much lagy.
And also when i open some mp3 file from file manager it plays the other.
there are too many problems with this default music player from sony.
And also i can't use next/previous button of my mw600 with this player.
Mediascape was much much better then this.
Please i want mediascpe back on 2.3.3. Help me out.
I'm now on 006 , and the problems are back . I dont believe that it is an 2.3.3 specific problem. As I wrote before , on the old version the noises were gone after 2 days.
Something I've noticed is that whenever I use a non-Motoblur music player, I get a lot of 'Unknown - Unknown'-tagged music tracks, despite the files being absolutely identical to those on my old Dell Streak, my ICS Transformer TF101 and my Windows 7 desktop. This happens with both the ICS Music2.apk and with PowerAmp, and it's extraordinarily annoying since all I need to do in PowerAmp is to click 'Edit tags' (All of them are correct in the tag editor) and then click 'Save' and it works again until I reboot the phone.
Has anyone else seen this kind of behaviour? It has been like this on both the official 2.3.5 and the official UK 2.3.6.

A lot of apps have different ways of "reading" music files and some apps might not be able to read them at all so they will be read as "unknown."

The PowerAMP trial version has the problem, and since it's simply a time-limited version of the full thing I'm not going to spend money on the full thing if the problem won't be fixed.
I was just wondering if this is an XT910-specific problem, since none of my other Android devices running the same music players have the same problem.
MIUI Music
I have seen a few issues with music players on some of the ICS roms and thought I would offer this as an alternative and it's FREE
This is a heads up for people that are looking for an excellent/well tested music player. If anybody has used it and has interest here is one that now works on ALL android devices.
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/19628-miui-music-ics-themed/
I have used this on: G Note, G tablet, HTC ARIA, HTC Inspire, SGS Captivate and on the I777 (on both GB and ICS roms)

True, however this is how the miui music player has looked and worked for over a year. It has been tweaked time and again, to make it what it is today.
Hey guys
i have a Problem with the Playback from some mp3's.
So i open the file with the standard player, it say's: "This type of Audiofile can't be played"...
But if i open the Audiofile over the "Root Explorer", it will be played with this player.
What is it?
Any other App from the Store make exactly the same bug...
The exactly same file's was played on ICS without any failure... but Jelly Bean??
In hopes that the new firmware (1.14.401.18) will fix the problem, i had flash the Revolution HD 4.0 Rom but this is not the case...
What can i do?
It is not acceptable! Such problems were among the old Windows Mobile 6 times...
PS: The Custom Rom is NOT the Problem. I have this Bug since i unpacked the One x+...
I have no problem with music (FLAC or MP3) at all, so it must be a problem on your side (ROM, other installations, MP3 or anything)... Not a general HOX+ problem...

The one Point with the mp3's fix was the reason for me, to risk to flash an custom rom because i have only rooted it before.
I must correct me:
The MX Player, rather a Video Player, is able to play the MP3's. All now, without issues..
But not the "Beats" player from HTC, wich is perfectly integrated... Damn it!!
Can anybody help me??
Please

I hope, that the Revolution 5.0 fix it now...
i will be trying to flash it today
I have over 300 MP3 files and no problem playing them with the stock HTC player.
Many players will only work with standard bit rates and ID3 tags. If any are not using the proper standard it might fail to play.
The reason other players are working is most likely they are ignoring the bad data or will play nonstandard bit rates.
