I'm not the one with the vibrant but a buddy was wondering. I know you can make changes on an evo using cdma workshop. Is it possible to get rid of it on the vibrant notification bar?

On custom rom's this can be supported, but on stock, you can't.
You can with ADW launcher. It allow you to swipe your finger up in the screen to hide it
I knew about the home replacements but not sure how difficult it'd be too just tweak a rom. I'd like to learn how too cook one up. Or at least be able to make my own changes.

Is there any way to remove the clock in the status bar on Nero V3?
Sent from my Galaxy S via XDA App
I wonder if removing the reference to the clock in the arrays.xml file in the framework-res.apk would work? Chances are its not that simple. Why dont you want a clock?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I know I use Beautiful Widgets so having both clocks is redundant, but I live with it. That being said, if I could remove it easily I would.
Why not just use a different launcher? I use adw ex launcher, which can give me the gingerbread look and get rid of the status bar. I haven't noticed any extra lag either.

I am using adw.ex and I also use clock... so yea.... having redundant times bother me.
I want to see my status bar for circle battery mod and other notifications. I hate seeing the clock up there.

been looking for this too... anybody?
I'm guessing it wouldn't be that hard to get rid of it, but I think you might just have an empty space where it used to be afterwards. You'd probably have to edit some XML files if you didn't want a huge waste of space on your status bar. I could be wrong though. I've never heard of anyone wanting to do such a thing. Do you guys just play with your launchers all day? You've never been in an app like the browser and been curious of what time it was? I think it would be a pain to exit an app every time I cared to know what time it was. To each his own I guess.

You could just lock the screen check the time instead of exit then unlock the screen and go back into what ever you were doin
You can try making a metamorph.

I'd just like to remove the AM/PM notification, ala Gingerbread, as this is the single most common element of the UI burned into the LED screen (probably since it's the most static).
Anyone have luck with this?
The statusbar clock is in the services.jar file. You'd have to know how to edit .smail's to take it out. There is a writeup on the EVO forum. Not sure if it can apply to the Galaxy S.
So, I don't know if this is a dumb question or not, but I was wondering if there is something I can flash that will just change my lock screen cause I'm tired of the lock screen where I just have two options....slide right to unlock and slide left for sound. I'm running Eclipse v1. 3. Any answers would be much appreciated. Thanks

I don't know about flashing to change lockscreen...
but you can try widgetlocker, go locker, QQlauncher, or something similar from market to change up your lockscreen ...there are a few apps available that allow for customized lockscreen ...even allowing u to add widgets or custom sliders to the lockscreen ...
good luck
Liberty X3 you can choose the rotation slider.
On Molten you can choose rotary too.
Ash is right though, those would be the best options.

I just don't want it killing my battery
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
yeah I understand that...
I was also trying to find a way to just replace an apk or something easy like flashing something to get different lockscreen so I don't have an app constantly running to change it...
hopefully someone who knows how to make flashable locksxreens will see this and give us a few choices
ICS theme has a nice lockscreen!
I'm thinking about trying out Liberty 3
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Lockscreens are difficult to add. There aren't any options for an actual lockscreen replacement (besides using Molten or Liberty which allow for Rotary). Lockscreen changes require much smali editing that doesn't seem worth it.
I just hope we can get CM7 soon...
If you want. Go to UOT Kitchen and upload your systeemUI and framework-res apks and make your own lock screen with the options there" then it will cook you a flashable zip. Its pretty neat!

Magic Lock is great
Magic Lock from the market is nice. they have 20 or so different themes with different locks and shortcut keys to apps while your phone is locked. Heres a screen shot of my current lock screen.
How's that on your battery?

Is the lockscreen really that big of a deal? I have seen multiple post of you asking for your lockscreen. I believe you even tried liberty x and still not happy. Seems like a lot of work for a lockscreen.
Haha. Well it's a big deal to me. They coulda at least made the lockscreen on Liberty more customizable

Just seems like many people gave you options and you are very hard to please. I personally like the lockscreen for the ICS theme. You should check those out in theme section. Then if all else fails start by Google uop kitchen and learn to make your own.
Ive been very happy with WidgetLocker. Im trying out MagicLocker right now though just to change it up. If you are worried about battery life, just stay with the default lock screen. Any locker app will probably have an effect on your battery. Sorry.
the lockscreen is a pretty big deal to me.
I settled on widgetlocker.
Its not as good as CHT & winmo, but its the best I found so far.
Go Locker is one of my favs. After switching to this from Widget Locker, I've noticed a little better battery life. I would try it out for a while.
Is this possible, is there a way to configure which shortcuts are there. I'd love to get a gps short cut as I use it regularly when running.

There ya go
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2422325
Requires Root.
Applies the same for One X+. However there are some toggles that don't have an icon so they will have a white tile. ATM There is no way to fix that.
I'm on a rooted 4.3 ROM. I mostly don't mind Touch Wiz, but I hate the quick settings in the notification drawer. Too big, ugly icons, text I don't need, etc.
I'd be happier with a 3rd party toggle program, like Power Toggles, if I could just disable the built in ones.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks!

Run meanbean rom

What happens if you turn them all off?
It only appears when typing. Using d3rp rom, everyone seems to hate this notification, but I find it very useful. I doubt it, but is there any way to get it back without flashing different rom? Is there a system apk that handles this that could be replaced without breaking the rom.

I think that happens when you have more than 1 keyboard installed and no default set
Sent from my Evo 3D CDMA using xda app-developers app
I do have more than one keyboard and on the stock rom the notification (which is a keyboard icon in the status bar) would be there regardless of default whenever a keyboard was in use. This was a highly useful feature allowing me to switch keyboards on the fly depending on input requirements. There are some really efficient keyboards that lack certain useful features like arrow keys and numberpads, being able to quickly switch keyboards is an effective way to get the best of all worlds. Why people found this so annoying is beyond me. The best I can do right now is use Tasker to replace it, but this notification will be there ALL THE TIME, not just when typing, now THAT is annoying.
