What are those "available" things on my task manager? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDAers,
First timer posting here. Anyways, under my task manager "Running Applications", I see two things at the bottom. One says Available: xx + yy in z services. And the other says Other: xxx in y services. What exactly do these things mean and what do they do?
Thanks in advance!

I put all of the Verizon crapware apps, Facebook, and a game or two. After that, I just stopped caring about what was running. I haven't had a single problem or reason to give it any mind, so I just let the OS do its thing.

Random app keeps installing itself

I keep getting this app installing on the last screen Page of my screen and there is no icon for it in the application menu. And every now and then it changes my browser homepage and sends me advertisement notifications. Would like to know if anyone has an ideal what this is. I'll click it and it will go to browser.
What do you mean by "the last screen Page of my screen"?
Do you know the name of the app?
Can you find the app if you go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications?
When you press home and scroll all the way to the left it will be in the left corner of that Page.
It's like some searching application and it is now where to be found in in management application section.
Odd. Have you tried anything like lookout to scan?

Have u downloaded any live wallpapers recently that's their Ads

So would the app backgrounds do that?
I personally only seen it with Live Wallpapers not all of them but most that contain Ads usually when you restart your phone they pop up and then they are gone

Hi,
I am facing the same problem here with my XOLO Q2000 (rooted).

I tried to uninstall playApp more than once. But it install itself silently without any notification or permission. Similarly other three apps did download and install just after playApp. And now ucbrowser just landed with other three.
Until I mess with playApp everything was cool.
Please help me remove this junk(playApp) and its residue. Otherwise I have to format my device.
Thanx for your support.

Thanx zyferx and santod040 for your valuable suggestions.
I think I solved the mystery. I just found an application (named as 'android system' from same me.com.basiapk source) running in background during this drama. With the help of 'system cleanup' app I froze that one and now no ghost appearance anymore. I uninstalled those craps safely as well.
I learned a lot from you guys. Thanks a ton once again.

Chinese notification

I hope somebody can give me some advice on this cos it's driving me potty, I keep getting notifications on my phone and they are in chinese (see screenshots), clearing them is no problem but I'd like to know if there's any way of blocking them, it's not a text or email, just a notification and a little picture of a star at the top of my screen, any suggestions welcomed thanks

Try downloading some antivirus app from Market. Maybe it finds something.
And where can I get that wallpaper?

The notification appears because you have installed an app with airpush advertisements in your phone.
Install this and do a scan on your phone: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...DEsImNvbS5icm9zbWlrZS5haXJwdXNoZGV0ZWN0b3IiXQ..
Then uninstall the aplication that came out with the result and rate developer with 1 star on google play. (this usually gets the developer to react, if alot of 1 star ratings are received)

Try "addons detector". However that's not a generic ad so it may not detect anything. You just have to go through your recent installed apps and running processes to figure out which app is the culprit.

Have you installed any apps recently right before you started getting the chinese notifications? That would probably be the culprit. I would start uninstalling recent apps and that might solve your issue

I flash different roms all the time and use titanium to restore my apps, come to think of it I only have this issue with the rom I'm using for my daily (perfect galaxy), can't imagine it's a problem with the rom but I think I'll dual boot it and monitor it for a couple of days, I'll let you know how I get on, thanks for everybody's comments

when you get the notification Spam don't remove it yet:
Settings > under system tap on {} Developer options > check USB Debugging
connect the phone using a usb to your computer
open adb shell
Code:
adb shell dumpsys notification
copy the output and save it to a text file, post it here
i'll tell you which app is spaming.
I FIXED MINE!!
the KEY: notification monitor function in addons detector
leave it on and wait a day or so till you get the notification
I used to get bunch of Chinese ads
addon detector showed me exactly which program caused it
it was a hacked version of game I have downloaded... got rid of it and the ad was gone...
thanks guys

[Q] A way to tell Android not to kill a specific app

As we all know, Android doesn't like Task Managers. Android likes to handle the apps by himself. But sometimes he just can't know what apps I need and which not.
So I need a way to tell Android not to kill an app, for example a gesture app or a "App Lock" App.
I haven't rooted my Device yet, because I've got a new Nexus 4 (there's still my Xperia P in my signature), but I can if it's necessary for that cause.
PS: The App I want to give these rights to is "Glovebox"
Use ram booster and whitelist the apps which are not need to be killed by system.

Thanks for your help, but I actually like pressing thanks when I don't feel forced. I'm sure, everybody would hit thanks even if you don't remind them with annoying capital letters.
Just a hint
That's a good advice friend thanks for ur help...

@rbebber - I do use task manager, but unlike before, we could SWIPE and the app disappears.....I understand task manager kills the PROCESS, but the app still sits there, and anyone can just click on the window icon and see what I was getting up to? security risk! lol, is there an alternate app? I tried advanced task killer and a bunch of apps but nothing works, all just kills the process.....I want those apps to DISAPPEAR....
youre help would be greatly appreciated
cheers
