With the new custom 2.2 roms all around and some people having vibrant 2.2 stock air update, does that mean we can use the tabs gmail app? i have the tab and love the email app they use on there.. doubt wether the vibrants screen is big enough to use it properly though..

Yes, you can use the gmail.apk on your Vibrant.
I used to have it in Axura

T-Mobile stock e-mail

I recently switched to CyanogenMod 7 R1. I had done a Titanium Backup of my apps before I switched, but didn't realise that it wouldn't back up stock apps. I really love the stock e-mail app which came with the phone, it handles g-mail better than the g-mail app or the Cyanogen e-mail app IMO. Is there a way for me to get the app on Cyanogen or no?
Thanks!
Jonathan
Last I heard its part of the Sense UI. You couldnt use it without having Sense installed and in that case you might as well run one of the Iced Glacier ROMs.
I thought the app was there, its just the widget that's gone.
I never used the widget, just the app. Any hope for this?
Jonathan
I was using K-9 as my e-mail app until yesterday I realized I could just forward all of my e-mail accounts to gmail. k-9 is an excellent program, but it wasn't useful any longer after I realized I could do this. Plus, gmail's interface is much smoother and easier to use.
But Sense did have a great email app, but since going to CM, I had no choice but to try alternatives. Gmail, however, is great so far.
What I like about k9 is that it handles attachments better.

[Q] Stock Email and other applications on CM7 Beta 4

Hi,
I want to know can i use stock Atrix Email Music and other APK's with CM7 pre beta 4 ???
if yes and no then can any one post the list or some thing or direct me to corect path
I don't believe you can use the Atrix apk with stock. I'm pretty sure at least in the case of email it uses the motoblur backend for communication and accounts which obviously isn't present in stock.

Actually i am referring stock to Motorola provided GB for Atrix, so if i install all provided APK e.g. accounts Email and other apk which are interlinked with each other then can i use stock applications on CM7 ?
CM7 has no blur features in it, so any stock moto app that has blur integration won't work at all.

[Q] Stock Jelly Bean SMS app instead of Samsung's ?

Hello,
I was wondering if I could replace Samsung's messaging app with Google's SMS/MMS app or just install Google's. I really prefere Google's one but for some reason I want to keep a Samsung-based ROM (not for Touchwiz launcher, but some apps like the Camera with no shutter lag, S-Memo which I use with my C-Pen,...)
Yes you can, but you need first remove the stock messaging app

How can I replace it with Google's SMS/MMS app ? Where can I download it and will it work with my Touchwiz-based ROM ?
You can pull the apk out of CM10 build.. Push it in system/app after renaming.. But keep in mind your smses will not be threaded..

Try this.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/....com.android.mms&feature=search_result#?t=W10.
I was going to use it myself but decided to stick with handcent which i've been using since GBread.
I expect you can do with this app what i done with handcent, - go into stock app - setting disable notifications, go to app manager the disable the stock message app - setup notifications on new message app and you should be good to go.
The dev also got the google calender etc too.
Hope this helps and works - let us know :good:

I extracted my MMS apk from my cm10 ROM, download it: http://db.tt/kCXioNLo
then use root explorer to copy it to system/app folder.
Then you set the right permissions (all of the first row checked and first of second row only, if in doubt check on the other apps permissions and set the same)
And the look for Semms.apk (or something like this), backup and delete it

I made a flashable cwm package for you .
It does every thing itself.
enjoy,
Thanks all ! But i've no thread in sms/mms, you have an idea ?
You will not get threaded messages in aosp messaging app.. Use the app someone posted from the market.. It is modded to be used in Stock roms
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Is there really no way to have threads with the original file ? I remember when I got the Galaxy Nexus for a week, I had threads on my SMS/MMS app. With the app on Android Market I'm having issues with LightFlow and the unread count from Apex Launcher doesn't work

I'm currently on the Sprint S3, and I flashed your package. All went well, but when I tried to send a picture message, it force closed the app. When I tried to re-open the thread, it just force closes.
Btw, is there any way to get the little message icon in the lockscreen for this replacement? I miss being able to slide outward on that message icon to be presented with the latest thread.

[Q] email app for samsung galaxy s+ with cm9

hi there!
i hope this is the right forum. i have installed cm9 on my samsung i9001 (galaxy s plus) so far so good, beta 2 is running smoothly.
sadly there is no standard email application included in that install, or correct me if i am wrong, at least i couldnt find any.
and whats even more sad is i cant download the gmail app from the market because of my location and something i believe is a name infringement or whatever...
so i am in need of a descent email app. i am currently running a gmail.apk for the v2.3.5. which is kinda buggy...
i think the best for me would be the email app that comes with the sgs+ on stock rom or an up to date gmail.apk would be nice too.
since email is kinda delicate i dont want to use any 3rd party app from the market or is there anything trustworthy?
please help me!
thanks in advance!
Try K9 mail. If an email app is not trustworthy there would be bad reviews.

I have the same question. Although there is an SMS app from Jellybean on the Play store, MMS functionality is broken at the moment.

Huh? We are talking about the AOSP (Stock) MMS/SMS app
I also wanted the MMS from my "old" Gnexus, I extracted /system/Mms.apk for my nexus. pushed it to system on the Note2 and I can confirm that SMS are working flawlessly but sending an MMS makes the app FC
if a dev could make that work that's be awesome
Where are all the good devs, who can help us? ... please!

+1 to this, would be great if we could have the stock Email as Samsung Email just doesn't connect to my company's Lotus Notes servers
The mms relies on a framework file
Ive been looking at what it requires if I find that I'm going to try to port it over using Xposed for framework modification
