Make a nandroid backup. Install Bionix fusion and give it a try for a week. If you dont like it, you always have your nandroid backup you can revert back to.
You will not revert back... you will just love your phone more and await the next release from Team Whiskey.

This. The only real decision you need to make is whether to flash Bionix 1.9 or Fusion 1.0
If you like Touchwiz, Bionix 1.9 is for you
If you like Launcher Pro, Fusion is where you need to be.
If you don't like the black, you can skin it. If you don't like it at all, try something else.
In short; try it.
Bionix is really smooth for me, even though I dislike the black keyboard, it saves battery, so I will deal with it. If you are feeling advantageous you can even use an overclocking kernel and see your phone fly even faster.
Bionix Fusion, id say.
just try it.

What ROM is everybody using

Hey everybody, I just order a Fascinate today and was interested in what ROM you guys/girls prefer to use. Im switching from a droid 2, and previously a droid 1, which had a great ROM community. I think its fantastic that there are so many Galaxy S phones but I think it is unfortunate that Roms are not applicable across models.
In addition to selecting what rom you are using it would be great to say what works great and what is still buggy. Please let me know if I forgot anything.

Welcome to the community!
Personally, I've been using jt1134's Super Clean with AOSP. Bubby323's Magic with AOSP is looking very promising. I tested version 0.2 for a couple days. and I think 0.3 will be a winner.
We're just getting started here in month 2 of the Fascinate's release, and there has already been some spectacular progress, mainly in the kernel department. There are some familiar names from the D1 community at work over here, and once FroYo drops for this phone, things should REALLY take off! (Seriously, who wants to work on a version of the OS that is already out of date, and will be replaced any minute now?)
I am loving that Blue Breeze!
Actually thought there would be more out there by now. Or at least some themes. I am sure, in time!

Well, I just finished an Android app that would have taken most devs about a half an hour. It took me a week, and I now have bald spots.
So I guess time is relative!
stock rom and just remove what you want
Add option for stock lol.
None of the above? I ran the update on my phone, reapplied root and continued on from there.

Me too! I know Best Buy can be shady, but God bless 'em for giving me this awesome phone for free. Well, almost, had to add a line to get it, haha.
Super Clean ROM with the puzzle lock screen running Dirk's D02_SV1200 kernel with lagfix turned on. So fast, and so much faster than my Eris.
Sent from my Fascinate using the XDA app
so how are you liking it compared to your droid 2?
using Zinc V1.0 right now. So far i'm liking it, but there's not a whole lot of difference in anything right now. I've tried jt's clean, blue breeze, aosp magic and Zinc, and they're pretty much all variations on a theme. not that there's anything wrong with that, i'm simply saying whatever you pick you can't go wrong, and it's easy to change anything you don't like about any one of them.

Favorite ROM and why?

As the title says, what's your favorite ROM and why? Why didn't you stay on that rom and go to the one your on? Or you can explain a short review/experience with them.

Hmm, I've always flashed roms by Team Whiskey.
I think out of all of them, Nero v5 and Bionix-V 1.2 would tie as my favorites as of now.
Both are extremely snappy and smooth. The battery life is incredible. As of now, I'm currently running Bionix-V 1.2 and as of this last charge, my phone has been off the charger for 51 hrs (17% left) with light/moderate usage.
TBH, I could've stayed on Nero v5, but I just moved on because I wanted to experience the new hotness from TW.
(Actually, that's a pro and a con when it comes to TW: everytime you flash one of their roms, it takes only 4-5 days before a new one comes out and then you've got to debate whether or not to flash the new one, lol.)
my Rom of choice : Di11igaf
Smooth, fast, and good looking.. oh wait.. sorry guys i was looking in the mirrror..
haha JK.. yea this rom is dope.. Blue Version!

As expected, anything by Einherjar Dev Team will be my choice.
That said, this is going to be different for everyone. It depends what you want in a Rom.
Masters roms are always very visually appealing.
TW is who I studied. They make a solid rom, everytime. They also have access to every kerneler there is, except for freelance supercurio.
EDT is very young but growing fast. These roms are set out to be created as something that does yet exist.
Eugene is the hero of anyone who has ever had to recover from a soft brick. Solid roms.
The lone rom-ers are starting to bring out some very solid products.
Lol, I guess thats all I have to say right now.

I'm a big fan of the team einherjar Roms. they seem to be the most stable to me and have the least amount of issues. i recently flashed bionix V 1.2.1 but i has issues trying to download apps from the market even after reflashing like three times. needless to say i flashed back to trigger 2.0. thats just my 2 cents.
Nero v3 because it had the best battery life. But i dont want to revert back because bionix has some things that nero did not and i will take them over the battery. But yea i love battery and have heard that axura has excellent battery life.
Cyanogen mod 7
Pretty stable, fast and statusbar widgets.

recommended roms for my vibrant? NEW

Hey there, welcome to the forums.
Well, first of all.. tell me a little bit.
What are you looking for?
Speed? Good Battery Life? Froyo, Gingerbread? Do you care? GPS? etc.
personally bionix 1.3.1 was my favorite for froyo, but if you want Ginger cm7 nighty is the way to go. miui is popular, but for the most part, it turns the vibrant into something completely. . . different.
flash away man. see what works for you. the vibrant is virtually unbrickable.

I use Toxic8 with Bali X 1.2kernel (gingerbread theme) and it is snappy, stable and battery lasts really well. Quadrant (although I despise it) gives about 2000 average.
I even used the GPS to get me to somewhere that MapQuest failed big time. Place was so far out that the roads didn't have names anymore, just numbers. But GPS took me right to the front door.
I'll try it out. Can you send me the links?

I've gone from Cyanogenmod7 to Trigger to Toxic Crazy 8. Cyanogen was horrible, as I was still a noob and it was terribly buggy then.
I suggest toxic Crazy 8. Flashed it a couple weeks ago, and it's beautiful. I decided to stay with Froyo because it's been around longer (more time to perfect it) and it's much more battery efficient. I get 44 hours of light use out of my phone, on one charge (Screenshots soon, I'm busy now...) It's also super smooth, just follow their install instructions. I've never had it lag and I can't stress how amazingly smooth it is.... xD Have fun flashing! Just keep some backups handy...
Edit: I failed to mention I'm running on Bali, OC'd to 1.2 Ghz (It came with Toxic, and I have no reason to change)
Here's Toxic Crazy8

In progress actually. I asked in evervolv how it was going but since I was blown off I figured it was time to show I had a reason
Focusing on mass storage this second. Once I get some kernel kinks worked out it should be good.
Most of the thanks should go to kushdeck. He handed me a phone, a device tree, some motivation, and said let's make this happen.
Edit: one key issue is phone will fc on boot leaving it at 160. It can be changed in the display options to 192 or 240 which fixes that. This is meant as motivation for me to solve that issue.
