[HOW TO] connect to Ad Hoc networks. - Nexus One Android Development

So I was trying to tether my Droid 2 to my Nexus One(only have Verizon) and my N1 couldn't find the Ad Hoc network my D2 was putting out. So I did some research and I found this. I tried it and I am connected to my ad hoc network zero issues. Well heres the guide.
Adding your ad-hoc SSID in Settings->Wireless & Network, then do the following modification in data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf:
1)Add ap_scan=2 at the beginning.(If not there)
2)Locate the "network" section corresponded to your ad-hoc network, add "mode=1" at the bottom of that section.
3)Add "priority=1" to the bottom of the section after the previous step.
Hope it helps

Connecting to Ad-Hoc Networks with Atrix

Ok so i'm trying to tether my Atrix to my iPhone 4, reason being my Atrix is unlocked working with an International Sim while my iPhone is my doemestic US sim...when trying to connect to adhoc wifi networks on the Atrix having some problems. I can connect to an adhoc network fine and obtain an IP the very first time the network is accessed. However if you disconnect from that same ad-hoc network and try to reconnect the atrix is unable to obtain an IP. So i tried to forget that network and retry with no luck. I'm running on OLYFR_U4_1.5.2, i've tried replacing the wpa_supplicant file with various other versions that enable ad hoc functionality on other phones, and it works in letting me reconnect to that same network however if i try to connect to a new adhoc network that fails and i cannot reconnect to the previous one as well.. the only way i've found to fix this is to replace the wpa_supplicant with the default atrix one and then replace it again with the modded wpa_supplicant from another phone. If anyone could mod the default Atrix one to work with Ad-Hoc that be awesome. There is also a tiwlan.ini that can be edited as well i've heard but i havent messed around with that. Thanks for any help given and sorry if this is posted in the wrong section.

[Q] Ad hoc wi-fi - network detected, but no internet

To enable my rooted ICS (official) Mediapad to connect to ad hoc wi-fi networks, I tried using the method described (and the wpa_supplicant provided) here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22113766&postcount=24
Happy thing is that now I do see the ad hoc SSID, but it gets stuck, alternating between "Authenticating" and "Obtaining IP address" on the tablet although my Win7 laptop says it's "connected" instead of "waiting...".
DHCP is enabled.
I tried specifying static IP on the tablet and it does get "connected" - but in actual fact, still no internet. The status of the connection on the laptop shows data being sent, but "received" is 0 bytes no matter what I do.
Am I missing anything? Am I configuring the static IP wrong?
Anyone gotten ad hoc wi-fi connections to work?
Don't have a real good answer for you but have you checked the firewall on your laptop it might be blocking the traffic.
Thanks for answering but I did get it to work shortly after my post using the free version of connectify on my laptop doing the broadcast.
Still (*) which means ad hoc wireless, but this time it works!
Edit: this is confirmation anyways that the wpa_supplicant mentioned above works for this device!

[Guide] Alternate to Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi Network for your Android Device

So i found this cool thread by googling which lets us connect the laptop's internet to our android device(by acting as virtual access point) without the need for adhoc network.

[Q] Use Incredible 4G as Ad Hoc Wireless Connection for Desktop

Does anyone know if it's possible to USB tether the Incredible 4G to a PC and turn the phone's wifi into an Ad Hoc wireless adapter? I found this thread that lets you turn the wifi into an Infrastructure adapter (to give the PC a wireless connection to an existing wireless infrastructure), but that's not what I'm looking for. Every other Ad Hoc post I've found so far is about connecting an Android device to an Ad Hoc connection, which isn't what I'm looking for. Essentially need a direct wireless connection where the phone is the gateway and is tethered to the PC.. Has anyone seen this or heard of anyone doing this, or maybe I'm missing something simple? Thanks for any assistance.
Note: I am S-OFF'd and rooted.
Nevermind

Need to enable Ad hoc connections

I have a Verizon fascinate with cm 10.1 on it and I need to enable ad hoc connections. This is not used as a phone, it is badly cracked and I have AT&T, but I use it in airplane mode with wifi and Bluetooth enabled. I need to be able to connect this to an ad hoc connection but the connection isn't even showing up in the available networks. I've read about wpa_supplicant but the only one I found broke wifi completely. I've also tried a ROM called Slim that was also 4.2.2 and that didn't work either.
Does anyone have any ideas?
