for some reason, today my X10i has switched from a standard english keyboard with the big spacer bar and the "?!" button to a keyboard that has a bottom left key that has Japanese/Chinese symbols on it that switches between qwerty to numbers/symbols to Japanese/Chinese characters.
i have checked my locale settings, keyboard is set to english uk, ive disabled everything i can find to do with non-english on my phone but the keyboard is still not back as it should be.
can anyone tell me how to get to the bog standard english only keyboard?
thanks

Hello everyone.
I've recently bought my dad the prime with a keyboard dock and I can't find a quick and easy way to change the input language of the keyboard when it's docked.
There is an option to change the device's language to our local one (Hebrew if that matters), but then it changes everything to Hebrew.
I just want the device's language to be English and have something like alt+shift to switch between the languages when it's docked.
However, so far it's either stuck on English (if the device's language is set to English), or alternates randomly between Hebrew and English (probably depends on the context of the text) with no real way to change it.
Is this a known issue? Is there a way to solve this?
Well, apparently ctrl+space does the trick when the keyboard is docked, at least for me.

if you go to ASUS keyboard setting, and only check Hebrew keyboard (without English Keyboard), you can simply switch back and forth between English and Hebrew by pressing alt key which is right next to space bar.
when alt key is pressed, it shows which keyboard has activated via little dialog box on the center of the screen.
This is the control + shift hassle free of doing it.
I found this keyboard while desperately looking for one that would show suggestions when using the hardware keyboard.
This one does, and it also got swype while having a size of less then 500 kb (without dictionary).
It has also got the ability of changing the hardware keyboard layout. Strangely it is enabled by default, so my azerty became a qwerty when using that keyboard. (I didn't know apps could take over a hardware thing???) You can turn it off in the settings -> physical keys -> remap keys. You can also change the hardware layout yourself by changing the 'language keycode' in the same settings pane, however I don't know what you should enter (qwerty is the default at 204).
you can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kl.ime.oh&hl=en
There are some quirks, since it is a beta.
For instance you can't type a web address decently, as it will always put a space behind a dot (unless you turn off 'insert space after swype')
Also, It will by default use auto-correction on password and log in fields, which you can also turn off by deselecting 'always predict'.
I almost forgot to mention one thing: it's by fr the fastest keyboard I have ever seen. Even after coldboot, the keyboard will popup instantly after hitting a text field.
thanks bro
finaly an alternative to swiftkey I'll test that
Good work!
Nice! Thanks!
I want to use stock keyboard but i hate the ñ in it, makes all the keys to be too close and i make mistake continiously while typing, i want it to have prediction but the keyboard like the english keyboard (without the ñ )
Set up dual language input, being the first english (keyboard layout) and the second Spanish.
If stock does not allow dua language input, install Swype.
Hi all.
I have a problem using physical keyboard which is Vietnamese language on ZALO Instant Messaging.
I have tried some keyboards but it cannot work such as TS Keyboard, Viet telex keyboard, Guobi Vietnamese keyboard, IQQI, Redraw keyboard, viet fast keyboard, vietname keyboard, vietnamese keyboard, vietnamese for GO keyboard and so on.
My problems are whenever I try to type some words, there was blinking on ZALO so that I cannot use the physical keyboard; and the background color for the keyboard is white that is not clear for typing since same color with ZALO's background.
I use Remix OS version 3.0.205 (kernel version is 4.4.19-android-x86_64) with Android Marshmallow version 6.0.1 that runs over VM-ware Workstation Player 12.5.
Please help me out. I would appreciate for any suggestion and help.
Please install Laban Key
Yes, I have used Laban Key but it works only for Viber (Instant Messaging Application), Laban Key cannot be used on ZALO, it was blinking. Do you have another options for Vietnamese keyboards, I have tried many vietnamese keyboards but it did not work on ZALO.
Thanks for your response @anh_pc
Hi, i have a pixel c but i came from a country where it weren't sold. (italy)
So i have a problem, because the keyboard its English based but with italian language a lot of keys can t be insert.
So i installed an app that can change the keys of phisical keyboard. But this app allow me to set only the phisical keyboard layout, so when i dischard it, i have to change to gboard manually,
My question is, is possible to set a default keyboard layout for physical keyboard (such as italian) and another one for virtual keyboard (english) without changing it every time I attach and dispach the physical keybaord?
