Planning on buying one and found out that by installing an official ROM in english i can change its language (French) i was also wondering that if i go to Asia, and use another sim card, will i be able to use it or is it only Orange bound mobile or something?
Just unlock your TG01 and you can use any network you wish to have.

Hi all,
I just purchased a Dopod 696 (essentially the XDA II) here in China, and am wondering if I might be able to add the standard English input tools, including the word "suggesting" system, as additional input choices (the Chinese system does allow letter-by-letter entry via a softkeyboard, but doesn't suggest words, and also does not have Transcriber).
Thanks very much for any advice.
Best regards,
CM
The reverse!
Ha! I just had my second dopod stolen monday...
I was just in Hong Kong and bought an O2 (english edition), and now am annoyed that it doesn't have excellent chinese input/display like my dopod 696 did. Where are you located? I'm in Hangzhou.
Shanghai... I just replaced the ROM on my Dopod 696 with the O2 roms, so it's now all English. But now the Chinese entry for SMSs etc is poor (using CE-Star)... Sheesh. So I'm thinking of switching everything back to the original Chinese ROM, but if I do so I would like to still have the English word-suggester... wonder if it's possible.

Poor chinese input
Exactly! That's why I'd love to have the english O2 ROM and graft the chinese input subsystem from the dopod onto it. Not to mention the fabulous kingsoft dictionary. Perhaps we can cook something up. I expect you made a backup of the original dopod ROM image, yes? Let's figure it out!

Hi all,
I have a friend in the Middle East who wanted to get the Touch Dual and I figured this may be the best place to ask about getting arabic language support as I am not familiar with this phone personally (I use an Apache w/ a cooked rom). The question is, does anyone know of a way to cook a rom with native support for Arabic Language? If he buys the phone in Egypt, it does have this support, so there must be a way. I personally cooked roms for my Apache and the Kitchen has suppport for the Vogue and Titan as well but I was wondering if there is a way to throw in a package for the Touch DUAL and then an Arabizer program and cook it together to load on a Touch Dual phone purchased here in the US (unlocked) before sending it to him? Otherwise, is there a pre-cooked rom with support? I saw that theres a 'XT9' or something that had someone working on arabic support through the search feature but I never saw a resulting package.
Thank you so much for any help!!!
I think there would be no problem converting an english device to a french device with the good rom, is there a french rom available I could flash on the english htc touch pro to get a french unit ?
thank you
You could attempt to get Bell to give you a french device - they do have them.
Found this on HTC's forums:
The only way is to cid unlock the phone, flash a new Hard Spl, find a rom in your language and reflash the rom. While this will change the language of the rom on your phone, it will also void any HTC or carrier warranties that may have come with the phone.
Look here to get started.

Is it that inconvenient to use the English device? Is the user if not yourself that much of a francophone?
I live in Ottawa, mostly french family and they all use English devices. So I know where you're coming from, but still..

Voice command (English) doesn't recognize any French contact name even when I try using English accent to find a French contact name, not a chance.
Hello,
first sorry for my english, but i`m from Germany.
My Question: Today i became a HTC Titan from AT&T America, without unlock, but with Branding and only english language.
Is there a way to flash a European Rom to this phone, to become other languages, like the German one?
Thanks for your answers.
By the way: When i postet in the wrong forum, please put it in the right one.
I'm not sure about flashing a european rom, but there are other languages in the windows phone oem updates under developing and hacking. They come as cab files and you use a pc app they provide to install them. That's how i got my latest update, and i had to install the language files with it. Ask in that forum and i'm sure they will help you.

hello to all,
it's the first time i'm going to buy an android phone and decided to go for a china phone, namely the Jiayu G3.
The problem I face is that no matter if I choose the G3 or some other mtk6577 phone, there is no mtk6577 that natively supports Greek language.
So, I wonder if there is way to install the language of your choice (for me Greek) into a phone that originally didn't support it.
If there is a way, it will solve my hands in choosing the best for me and not the one that will appear eventually with greek lang support (and which may not have the specs I want).
Thank you all in advance
