Which version of IME_mod are you trying? I haven't tried Shadowrom, but I have used the "lowres_22" version of HTC_IME_mod keyboard on every 2.1 and Froyo ROM I have tried, with no troubles.
bftb0
i'm on shadow rom with htc mod lowres_27 and it just fc all the time.
actually i got one working its lowres_22 or you can do multi touch one (droid x) i pulled both of them out of kaos froyo rom=) works like a charm.
Hey guys sorry for the late response. I fixed it using this:

in HTC keyboard turn vibration off and lag dissapears
Not really! The keyboard lags especially with sms application for me. It works perfectly with Email, market... ?!!
Eris lag then use Legend
You could try a vanilla rom like aHero or Vanillain, they run way smoother then the Sense roms.

same with me. i've tried all vanilla ROM. but sense run a lot smoother than it.
i hate sense but not find any good vanila rom yet.
the lag seems inherent of HTC kernels, that is one of the reasons cyanogen released his modded kernel... The behero legend build is fairly good with lag compared to others! Well I say that but soon as it starts to asterix a password then things get a bit freaky!
BeHero
Just download behero. The keyboard isnt laggy at all.. almost better than 1.5 firmware. Plus its based on the Legend.
I just installed one of the new Froyo roms, and the first thing I am missing is the HTC IME Touch Input keyboard. I searched and found some apk's but none of them would actually work after I selected them as my keyboard. Does anyone know a working IME keyboard apk for our phones? Usable on Froyo of course.

Yeah, sorry, feel free to move mods. I sent you a PM r0man.
In case anyone was wondering, the version r0man suggested did indeed work! Thanks man.

Got it.
Does anyone have a working keyboard like the one in CM6 for MT4G? I tried installing the one from the nightlies, and it installs fine. However it fc's every time I try to type.
Thanks in advance!
why would u need it? the HTC keyboard that comes with it is better. I didnt like the swype one. So i switched.
Where can you change the keyboard on the phone? My phone is stock.
thank you

I hate swype as well as the touch keyboard. Its all all about personal preference and I prefer the stock 2.2 keyboard

hold down when entering text until input method appears and switch in there
I'm going to second this request; I would rather have the stock android keyboard than the HTC touch input. Personal preference.

if anyone can get the stock 2.2 keyboard ported over and working that would be great!!
I just got my galaxy s 2 today n beim using it fr a few hours. Came from the nexus one n im missing pure android feel to apps.
I also cant seem to figure out how to get the dictionary working on the samsung keyboard or swype n i seem to miss the old keyboard layout too.
Is it just a simple case of finding the apk n installing it?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Gingerbread keyboard:
Search for "Keyboard from Android 2.3" in the Market.
is it reliable though? do you know from where i can get the actual one?the official one?
Sorry can't test it, my S2 is still on its way :-(
But I read about it and afaik it's ok.
I don't know if there is an "official" gingerbread keyboard for the S2, I think the one in the market is the best you can get.
Don't sue me if it's not true - This is just based on my little research
I have the CM7 keyboard as I much prefer it thanks to the long press delay option that the normal 2.3 KB does not have.
Just pull the apk from the CM7 ROM zip and install using the SGS file manager, simples

found it..but ended up using the Keyboard for Android 2.3 from the market because the keys in that are bigger!
Do you find that you don't get the dictionary come up in the email program though? It works in Handcent SMS, but not in email for me... (when using the market GB Keyboard I mean)

Hi
I don't think it is an official version rather it should be a mod version. I am using it for the last one week from the time i had S II and it works fine for me.

I installed the CM7 KB but I can't get the haptic feedback to work.
How did you manage this?
when i installed the CM7 keyboard, when i switch to landscape it cuts off the area where you would normally see the typed words, this is not good.
any way to shrink down the size, or get rid of the line with the extra characters?
i have the nightly 4-21 rom installed on my htc amaze.

Use SwiftKey keyboard or SWYPE, they're better than AOSP keyboard anyway
