How is it btw?
What did you have before and whats the first impression ?
Would u compare it to Hero or X10 mini plz ?
Thanks !
P.S. most importantly - does battery hold 2-3 days ??
i just got one myself today, so far so good, its smooth and responsive, and still have a Touch Diamond, the x8 running android is smoother and quicker than the diamond on wm 6.5, had various droids on the diamond and I prefer the x8 for now
don't know about the battery life yet, I did wait till its fully charge before first power up. but they using li-po battery, so I expect them to be near as good as the box says
my opinion I would rather the x8 than the x10 mini/pro
I like it a lot. It's MUCH better than the X10 mini imo, simply because the screen is that much bigger.
Battery life seems like it'll hold for 2-3 days with "sane" usage. I've been getting 12+ hours with constant wifi, music playing and various other apps running.
So yes, battery life seems like it's as good as promised.
Only issue I have is to be able to run vpnc I need a tun.ko module for it.
My request is for an X8 tun.ko module. Though I might compile one myself if I find the time to read the instruction.
It comes with a 2GB micro SD out of the box... Which is a nice touch, considering the price point for it!
Impressive, have to agree about the screen
Does it feel much bigger than X10 ?
I had a HERO which was very nice but felt big and bulky in a pocket.
X10mini is very portable and sizewise is nearly perfect.
How's X8 ? does it feel like a bigger mini or like an HTC HERO ?
Also, can you post some image/video samples? mini has a great camera imho..

Great news about battery, please post real life testing results as well ..
Tell me, why would u need a VPNC on a phone?
I've seen others compiling these modules, but whats the point in vpn, why run it??

after hours of toying with it on the market and google maps navi, the battery seems good, haven't charge it since fully charged yesterday, it tells me it has 74% remaining, the diamond wont be long ruuning out with wi-fi and gps on together.
Except for the reboot...the phone is smooth ...its been a week since i bought it..
Battery is good..
Screen is awesome..
Just rooted it...

Just had it today for my wife. real cool and faster than x10 mini pro. but... however X10 still the best. cheer...
thought i might try to help you guys out, i reported this post but stressed that this was NOT a bad report - i wanted to highlight this thread to the admins/mods that you guys should have your own area to play in - i still think the best method is to contact the admins/mods directly, and post the request in the sites general area (not in x10\general or x10\dev)

Hi!
I'm wondering about what phone should I buy, and I'm really intentioned to choose SE Xperia X10 Mini, but i'm affraid that the screen is to small to many of the apps and games.
Can you give me your feedback about it?
Thank's!
As far as I'm concerned, the size of x10 mini is ideal for a phone. Of course small design means small screen.
I've been using a lot of apps the last couple of weeks since I got the phone and I'm not lacking the large screen size. Of course this is a mater of taste
Depends on what you'll be using the device for. For me, I've never got in to mobile gaming so I'm generally not bothered how a device performs/displays games. Apps-wise, I've not had a problem with the screen size for anything I've wanted to load so far. It is a small screen and the resolution is low when compared with more expensive high-end devices, but it doesn't bother me.
Thank's!
My choice is done!

Agreed!
Get the Pro because the keyboard is great and the size is not much different. Screen is fine for everything. I watch TV shows on it and its great, also web browsing is easy and not hard zooming in and moving around quickly.
I hope to use this for GPS navigation in car, screen might be a bit small for that, will test and find out...

I am planning on getting the X10 mini pro this weekend. I had prevously been using a TyTN2, QVGA screen, but about 50% larger physical size. Let's see how it goes!

What kind of app do you use to watch tv-shows? Did you find it in the market?
Screen size, resolution and processor are an ideal combination if a succussful port of android 2.2 is achieved by developers.
After rooting the phone and removing the unwanted app's, this thing cooks. The only regret I have is not buying the pro, although the keyboard does look dorky.

End of September??
No, end of september is for androïd 2.1
Nope!
Screen size is really nice!
I like the sharp screens (big resolution for small physical size)
My previous phone was nokia 5500 and player was Sony Walkman NWZ616 with 2.5" screen with QGA(320x240). Image looks really good on all of these devices!
Pro with HW keyboard is very good and size of the x10 mini/pro is real size of a phone, not the big fat TV/game-pad.
Hi everyone.
I'm just thinking about buying a Xperia X10 mini pro for my wife. I went to the store to check but the screen looks really small. I was reading some reviews on the web but ther're not conclusive and always done with a fresh device.
Can someone post a brief review on the following topics?
1. How's speed after a certain usage?
2. Is the screen a limiting factor for some, many or really most android apps?
3. Will froyo be avaliable on this one in future?
4. Top 5 pros and cons?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Well i have the x10 mini for more than a month now and the speed is still very quick, very few lags. For the screen size and apps, i think there are a lot of available apps for the x10 mini's screen size, my only nag is that i can't access paid apps yet, not really the x10 mini's problem but the android market here in my country. With froyo I hope its coming but i dont think it'll be anytime soon since the eclair update will be coming only at the end of october
Top 5 pros
1. very pocket friendly
2. fast
3. nice ui
4. nice camera
5. not too expensive
Top 5 cons
1. only android 1.6 but i can't say that i'd benefit so much with the 2.1 update coz i can do everything i need to do with my x10 mini right now
2. battery life not great, mine can last up to two days sometimes though
3. its not amoled, its asking too much, but hey it would look great if it were amoled might make it slower though
ran out of cons ... well.. hope i helped even a bit
I can honestly say there are no cons except the battery life is not the best.
If you want a bigger screen dont buy a mini of course! lol
Big thanks my friends! It's for my wife. I think she will be ok with a smaller screen if the form factor is better than the "big male phones" as she says hehe.

thats what SE said, hopefully there'll be no further delays
Yep. I'm using it right now.
However, startup is very affected by application. There are alot of nasty app there which start as system starts, this lengthen my boot time. After that, it's just quick.
I think, it is the only Android device with best physical design. I know it has limitation with android version and screen size, but, it's worth the style, plus I'm not so enthusiast. So, it's so stylist.
For your information, I already rooted this device. So, should still be okay if you want to play with this device.
Very recommended.

This is SE we are talking about. They are worse than British Rail at delays: http://www.xperiax10.net/2010/10/01...e-november-plus-more-details-on-improvements/
PS: Sorry to give you a con, rather than a pro
Both of us have the pro version of this fone there a several pro and not many cons
Yes it has a small screen but it is a small device
We got the pro cause the keyboard makes it so much easier to type
About the only major con I can think of is the boot hasnt been cracked so we're stuck waiting for SE to realse an OS update. There are a few apps that wont work becuase they require 2.1 and wont run on 1.6
My x10 is not as smooth as a HTC Legend, an older iPod, iPhone 4 and more phones,
Why is this stupid thing?
Thanks for an answer if you reply.
Mine is quite smooth.
But maybe you thing it isn't as smooth as other devices because it has a 32fps cap.

I guess you've never seen the smoothness of an iPhone 4... Can developers here on XDA remove the cap when the bootloader gets cracked?
I find it very smooth...
The stock firmware isn't, but custom roms are super smooth.. Mine never lags or freezes, and I've use all that you have mentioned above..
Same here. with 2.1 using various roms, there was a noticeable lag, especially moving from an app to the dialler. I'm now using 2.2 cm mod(6. 1.3) and the difference is pretty amazing, no discernable lag atall.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
iphones are definitely more responsive to the touch. as far as scrolling and everything.
but my x10 with the custom 2.2.1 rom, adw, and all the tweeks is smooth as fast and sometimes seems faster at opening apps and stuff than my gf's evo. so im happy as long as i have these great developers.
tho i do wish it had come like this out of the box.
Well considering the lack of true multi tasking on an iphone it makes sense that it would be smoother as it hardly has to use any of it's ram or processing cpu...
Anyhow, this thread is posted here about every two weeks, if you want an iphone go get one. I'd pick my x10 over one any day

i agree with the two above. had an iphone before this.
only thing i see better about it would be a majority of the apps and games.
the phone itself is much better than an iphone.
+1 for the 'il take my x10 over any iphone any day'
and also +1 for ' it didnt come out of the box as good as it can be'
but its got potential with a bit of research and some modifications... iit can do waayy more than an iphone can
and with the right mods its as smooth as it needs to be imo
well said ^^

Indeed it is, Iphone just pretends of multitasking. SE really deserve that title In X1, X2 and X10 has a Multitask Powner Title!! Compared to iphone, even a intel PIII running just Clock App would be smooth
Wow - When did we all get so good at going completely off topic!..
I had lots of problems with the stock rom being jittery and generally slow.. I didn't want to move to a custom ROM cos none of them are complete.. so I've rooted, installed JIT, and removed some of the preinstalled apps that I don't want (Timescape, and moxier mainly.) now it's fast and smooth..
What if I want to keep Timescape and Moxier? (They are one of the main reasons I'm not switching to a custom rom, other than battery life)

moxier - not a problem, you can purchase it from the market if you need it - there are other email clients anyway but if you like this particular one...
timescape - there are other social media aggregators also, tweetdeck was one that i played with once.
personally i would switch to a custom 2.1 rom and get some alternate apps running. you wont look back I say custom 2.1 rom so you get a complete rom and not a beta. i am running a 2.2 cyanogen rom and its 98% functional but i can understand why others dont like to run beta roms!
how this all relates to the OP? custom roms run so much smoother due to the lack of bloatware and not using the SE launcher. it is a resource pig and when it combines with time/mediascape running in the background at all times - the x10 drags to a halt. i switched to custom roms a while back and have not considered going back at all. closest thing i did was run KXHawkins high performance 2.1 rom for a while - it is based on the SE 2.1 rom with all the crap removed or modified.
Hi all. Long time reader first time poster. Question to you folks out there. I've read up on the Xperia Mini (+Pro). I'm looking for a small form-factor Android phone with a snappy(dragon) speed processor, and want your advice.
1) Would you buy the phone today? If not, why? I know there's bigger and faster, but I don't see on the market anything faster that's as small. I know Sony doesn't talk, but do we think there's a refreshed model coming out soon in 2012 that I should wait for?
2) I'm replacing my Samsung Captivate- can I do these things that I liked to do: a) easy to root/sideload etc? I don't flash ROMs, but do some Rooty stuff.
3) I like swype. Does swype run on the Experia Pro?
4) Suggestions on Mini vs. Mini Pro? I like swype, but if this thing is as small as it looks, should I be looking to get the Pro/keyboard version?
5) GPS never worked on my Craptivate. Does it work well on this phone?
I've got more questions, but I'll start with that!

I have the mini and love it. I have had no issues with it at all. in reply to your questions:
1 - would buy again. the Processor is fast enough. I've never had lag. Also it will get the ice cream sandwich update so the software will stay current on the mini for a while.
2 - I rooted the phone using superoneclickroot which took 1 click. But the latest software update for the phone may mean that root might not be available ~yet~ (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1455216 ). If you're buying current stock then more than likely the software update to 62 hasn't been applied yet, so rooting is easy.
3 - I use swiftkey as a keyboard replacement, you can use any android app so swype should work too.
4 - How much do you really use the keyboard? I figured that one of the main reasons in getting the phone was for it to be small & lightweight, so the mini was the smallest & lightest, I used to have a Droid with a keyboard, but now don't miss the keyboard at all.
5 - GPS works fine. I think GPS issues were a Samsung thing?
I'm a mini pro user and must say I'm pretty happy with my phone. But to answer some of your questions I wouldn't buy this phone if I were buying it now, and it's only because I'd really like a bigger screen and perhaps a longer battery as well but these are in no way reasons not to go for this phone. In all my time using it I really had no issues whatsoever and can't find any remarks why not to choose this phone besides personal preference.
The rooting is quite easy excluding the latest firmware which just takes some alternative methods to do, but is not in any way extra hard.
Swype can be used but if you take the mini pro you will most probably get used to the hardware keyboard and will at most times avoid using the on screen one as the hardware keyboard is way more comfortable and easier to use.
Also the GPS works really well, and the phone itself also includes a special module that allows the use of the new tracking technology implemented by the Russians (can't remember the name). So you will have acces to about ten or more satelites (compared to other GPS modules of other phones) which give you faster lock on and more precise measurements.
All in all this phone will not disappoint you, or at least it has not disappointed me.

Brov i would advice yu to get one... am planning of get one soonest too!!!
tha only hinderance about tha phone is dat its small but still handy!
1) Yes, I would. I really like my little phone... I have no idea if any successor is planned - but if so, I don't think it'll be as cheap as the mini/mini pro at the moment.
I also really like the stock launcher, I like the hardware keyboard, the form factor, the speed of the CPU. The camera sucks, the batterylife is mediocre and the display resolution could be higher but it's still a very good phone.
2) I'm quite sure yes. I broke my root with the newest update (but didn't really need it at the moment) but I'm sure the community will come up with a new root very soon.
3) I think so
4) AFAIK the mini does have fewer problems with overall reception (GPS, GPRS, UMTS, WiFi). But - I want the keyboard!! The screen really is quite small - I don't want half of it used by the onscreen keyboard. On top of it - I'm really a lot faster with the hardware one - feels good, works well. TBH, the mini never was a valid option for me.
5) Yes, it does work but compared to other phones the reception is quite poor in my opinion. I don't need it on a day-to-day basis so it's not a deal breaker to me.
Tha main truth is tha SUCCESSOR of dis phone cant be sold dat amount!!! i just love XMP.... I must get it!
If you are interested (and in the UK) I'm selling one. It has only 2 days use, and last night I unlocked the bootloader, put CWM recovery on it, and put NeoDroid's V4 ROM and kernel on it.
Advert here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477219&highlight=xperia+mini+pro
Indeed a nice little phone. Much much snappier since I put the custom ROM on it. Got it overclocked to a safe 1.2GHz and removed all the bloatware. Running it as my daily use phone for a few days to make sure there are no bugs.
I've had mine for a few months and would still get one.
The screen is small/low resolution, but it fits in my pocket and there's very little out with a keyboard here.
SE made it easy to unlock, so I have a custom kernel and have no problems with it set to 1.6GHz.
I didn't like the launcher at all with its corners thing, but that's easy to replace
Sorry- I'm in the US, would need a version that could run on AT&T's network bands

Hello
1. I had an Xperia X10 mini pro, but bought an Xperia mini pro a few month ago. I am very happy with this phone and would buy the same again, if this one broke.
If you need a phone now, buy it now, It is a nice phone, the only problem I see is the that it can run out of RAM, but then get a kernel that supports SWAP, so you can get some paged memory.
2. I think that it is easy to root, even though it was easier on the Xperia X10 mini pro. The biggest problem is that you it is hard to switch back to the stock ROM. But Once you have tried CM7, will you never return (and CM9 is on the way).
3. I do not know about the Xperia pro, but I have not seen it on the Xperia mini pro, but there are very similar keyboards.
4. Personally I would never buy the Xperia mini. The pro version is not that much bigger and it actually has a very nice keyboard.
5. The GPS of the Xperia mini pro is working very nice here in Denmark. I actually use it as my primary GPS (even though I have a TomTom). I have seen some problems if I am too far out in the country and surrounded by big trees. But in exception of that am I very happy with the GPS of the Xperia mini pro combined with Google Maps.

You should try to install "GO Launcher EX" from the market.
hnl_dk thanks for dat info.... i think i ll buy it early nextmonth!
but yu talk bout Go Launcher EX, is it better dan tha ADW+??? but i thought Go Luanhcer EX is use for themes cos i use to see alongside themes.
Ok- I have to ask- what is with your grammar and spelling? I wouldn't mind if you said that you were not a native english speaker- where are you from? sorry.
I will start with the problems I have with Mini Pro
* Low resolution - You wont be able to play some games
* Small Screen -Nut can't take it as a big negative because its a MINI pro
As for your queries there is nothing in the current market which has the same or better hardware and is small .In the world of gadgets/technology it is normal for some product to be squished by a better one and it is inevitable so there is no use waiting for a newer one .
You can easily ROOT your phone ,there is a simple tool available - connect phone, click root and your done .
I don't think you will need swype because of the physical keyboard .But yes it will run.
Mini has no keyboard thats all .
GPS works without any issues .

They can both do themes, and I think there's free versions to try out. The difference is just preference, things like a few options or speed
I have no idea about XMP, I just used screenshot from the power button
I just recently got my SE Xperia Mini Pro, and I'm loving it. For the price I payed for it, I am surprise they are making a profit. My budget was around £250, I checked many phones and many didn't have the specs I was looking for. I needed a fast and good quality camera phone and the Mini Pro lives up to its standard.
Pros
Very fast phone, only crashes when you put it to the extreme
Camera is amazing, really surprised with the picture quality
Can run most apps and games without any problem
Hardware keyboard is really sturdy
SE has added Swype in the 2.3.4 update for the Mini Pro
Cons
Screen a bit small for typing
The outside feels like cheap plastic
This is a great phone for the price. If your budget is low, definitely get this one, If your budget is higher, a bigger screen might do better
I have doubt in getting satisfaction with recent releases sony device, compared to my x10i.
Also, the reason behind this change over is due to heating and restarting issue for past few days.
Even, After back to stock rom and relocking the bootloader perfect baseband flashes. Nothing helps me to ride out of this issue.
Hopefully, i concluded that it should be a hardware issue.
So, i need to miss my x10i badly :'(
If you can please suggest me for good change over.
thankyou mates!

I've currently got a xperia T (the forgotten flagship) awesome phone with awesome hardware, I haven't looked back in regret when I updated to it.
I would recommend the xperia Z as it has better Dev support and it's new

Still using my XPERIA X10i with 64GB Class10 SanDisk(3months use), overclocked CPU with root access and 1800mAh Mugen power battery.(1 - 5days battery life)
It's now become a music/media phone with Neutron Music/XiiaLive/Video players and a mobile file server.
Syllable G18 Bluetooth headphones keep the phone sounding sweet.
Thinking how good my XPERIA X10i still is, I thought, gee, the XPERIA L must be heaps better....
Hmm... that may lose some of the sparkle when one looks a bit closer..
XPERIA L appears to only support Class 6 MicroSD cards and maybe nothing over 32GB.
USB-OTG doesn't seem to be supported from what I read.
Sony is indicating the XPERIA SP needs to be referred to service support if touch screen issues are noted, so indicates HW issuse and not something a SW patch can fix.
Have an XPERIA S and that's in a world of pain after JB upgrade, where XDA Developers will probably be left to pick up the pieces if Sony doesn't address the many voices of dismay.
Third JB update mooted for early July, so it may not all end in tears.
Sony is not at it's best at the moment with firmware updates, but I'm sure they'll want to prove us doubters wrong. :fingers-crossed:
Given the above, I may enjoy my XPERIA X10i for a while longer before it is retired.
Still have 20GB of my SDcard left to fill....

You may be onto something there.
I can purchase an XPERIA LT25i for approx USD350.00 which is less than what I'd paid for an XPERIA LT26i
The XPERIA V has all the 'modern' features and an S4 Snapdragon chipset with an Adreno 225
The XPERIA V also has a good chance of getting Android 4.3 as the Adreno 225 supports OpenGL ES 3.0
Pity I already have an XPERIA S. [mumbling something about JB 4.1.2]
I saw a post were some dude in Asia lost his XPERIA V at the beach in the ocean while videoing and it kept on videoing for some time after it was lost.
It was found and returned to the owner some days later after being dragged from the ocean. All still working and the under water video was on YouTube. Can't say better than that.
XPERIA i1 HONAMI ... THE NEXT YEAR
