like the title says i was booting up into android and it froze.so i popped out the battery and put it back in and it wont do anything.no lights no charge no bootscreen...nothing.
i dont think its bricked as i havent changed anything...it has been fine up to this point.
any idea what the cause can be?i searched around and found no answers.
the battery pins are perfectly straight...switched batterie from another working hd2...nothing is happening at all.

i ended up having to get a new one..........a certain Android build who thinks its clever to WAY WAY WAY overclock to the MAX was the cause of my fried phone...2 experts confirm it, plus 2 other people also used that build now have messed up phones....and the build is still up right now!~!!!!!!

Still trying to spin your fairy tale i see.
The build you are talking about is not overclocked to the MAX as you put it, unless you overclock it yourself.
The extra speed involved in this build is because data is not written to the SD card until the memory is full, unlike most other builds.
If you chose to overclock the cpu to the max and the phone gave up, then that's your fault, nobody else's.
Trying to discredit someone's hard work because you chose to go to the MAX and lost out is childish.
Nobody forced you to install a operating system that is not officially designed to work on the HD2.
You say you have bought another HD2.
I bet you install another android build on that one, what lucky builder is going to get the blame this time if that one breaks because you chose to go to the MAX because as you put it, your a quadrant score junkie.
Do the builders a favour and stay with WM if you and your phone cant take the heat.

Also I have tested all the android builds and nothing wrong with my phone.

OMG xexe,i searched all over the web and come across this one up there
i had problems with my hd2,black scren after turning on and short vibrate,and nothing happened
i was 3mins away from buying new one but then i sow this and tried and that really worked for me
like magic.
i know this post is almost 2 years old but it saved me money,and i have my old phone working

it appears i cannot post to where this is most related...bricked p500h's optimus ones. phone number 3. koodo shall hate me but i will lie again and just say no turn on if noone has a solution. everytime its the update-openoptimus as the culprit, the flash after as per instructions with baseband(force close always occurs and thats the next step) fails and phone goes dead. no life. bricked. whats rather saddening is all the hundreds of posts i read here about people calling their phones bricked when they are in fastboot or emergency mode. hell life would be nice...little note to people. fastboot or emergency mode is NOT a bricked phone. phone going dead during a kdz flash and fail with NO SIGN OF LIFE afterwards is a bricked phone. im going to cry if i see someone else say. i haz yellow screen. No. Just JTAG. Forget it, it costs more than a PCB change or even more than a brand new phone.
lol ill try my luck, 3rd replacement(if i was honest with them none of em woulda been outright replaced, but hey i was stupid enough to brick it 3 times, not gonna be so stupid to tell the truth what i did!) tomorrow am i call and say ***k lg! gimme a nexus s! 16gb internal. really ive fought gettin the one rom with 4gb sd-ext for internal memory, non issue if i persuade them with my charm. this is what i shall do. next up...lookup what jtagging is. ive meant to. guess now i will. thinkin without a thought its jtag=tagged for garbage. yanno when they take them in and theres no power. they have no real proof, not the provider i doubt. only on amce lg gets it they know whats was done..if that. fill me in if im wrong. im quite good at gettin **** for free from telus/shaw/any of them like outfits.
JTAG is a device that will flash the dead phone with a working firmware. You need to dismantle the phone and connect the JTAG to a connector on PCB. Yeah, Google it, but as said, expensive and totally not worth it unless you are doing the stuff for living.

koodos sendin another. easy enough. now. wtf does this rom upgrade to ciaoux's update-openoptimus keep pooching my phones for though. 3 tries.. 3 bricks, never on the actual rom upgrade...but afterwards always force close so i run fix permissions in recovery, followed by the v20g_00 baseband upgrade........this is where it fails everytime. i should note, in the past the lge virtual modem has been present but disabled as required, but not lately. its now always lge android usb modem....i dont think i disabled that guy.....maybe the problem? really leary about running any kdz or lpdm updater now for sure. to call in a 4th time in two weeks with a dead phone my provider is gonna sorta maybe start askin questions......im pretty sure. lol goddam i needa large capacity phone, i haz a 20tb server but only a 512mb capaacity droid phone. messed. ****.

This is the second time this particular problem has happened to my device.
So I was on the tram coming back from my maths exam today.
(Running a ROM with Hardcore's SpeedMod K2-15)
I decide to change the song, all of a sudden, my screen turns black and I can't turn my phone back on. I as soon as it happened I thought uh oh. (the battery was at 74%.
So I tried to reboot my phone, didn't work.
Tried to get into download mode, didn't work.
Tried to get into recovery mode, didn't work.
Went to see if anything happened if I put in my charger AND USB cable. Both instances nothing happened.
When the incident happened last time, I was about to have it shipped to Samsung, was in the car on the way there and I was still pressing the power button in hope that it would work. Low and behold, it turned on, I flashed a different ROM and kernel and was on my merry way until today.
After browsing Q&A for around an hour the only other instances I've found with this problem are my original thread (around a month ago) when the same problem occurred.

So up to my knowledge this seems like a problem that isn't only a one off if I'm not the only one reporting it.

PS. two days ago I deleted a few folders on my USB storage as they were taking up too much storage space. I doubt they had anything to do with the problem though and that's the only difference I can think of that MAY have trigged the event. But I have no reason as to why it happened. I am also using NoMoarPowah and Chainfires3D mod (which I've been using for ages and i'm sure had nothing at all to do with the problem)
hopefully someone knows of a definite solution. :\
Wow the same thing is happening to my phone as well. Thanks for the detailed description. Hopefully we'll find a response soon. Also, I would suggest you investigate the volume of chode in the nearby vicinity of your phone, may be a problem (personal experience)
I just dropped mine off a stepladder in kfc, and i'm experiencing the same problem. Avoid doing this. Hopefully someone else has a better solution to your problem but for now, just don't drop it off any stepladders.

This sounds like a serious issue with your phone's hardware. You should return it to Samsung.

If they manage to fix it do you think the'll notice it's been rooted?
I've removed the triangle and reset the flash count i've just got a new ROM on it.
(as in will it still be under warranty)
If you manage to reset the counter and get the original stock rom on it (or a new version which was meant for your device and came by kies) you should be perfectly fine, just don't root it again (until you get it back, that is).

In that case chances are very high that Samsung will simply replace it, given that they probably won't be able to turn it on, too.
That's what I've heard from many people atleast, who had issues turning their devices on.
Only way to find out: see if you can get warranty.
Other option: be honest that you rooted and hope for the best, yet I don't know how Samsung staff would react to that, probably not too good.
Ps:
I take it that you have a JIG and tried that one already? As you stated, that you did reset the counter.

I've given it to a friend but I highly doubt it would work. Anyway for now, I'm going to place it in rice JUST IN CASE there is a tiny bit of moisture on some part of the motherboard which is messing things up. If that dosn't work i'm going to go down to my mobile dealer and hope for the best

no I havn't done that. I'm taking it back later today
honestly, i just wrote a giant essay on what happened and it all got deleted when i tried to submit it so im not very happy right now and dont feel like retyping it so ill just keep it short
i (tried) to format my sd card with the clockwork mod app (not recovery) but it failed and when i rebooted my phone was soopah doopah ultra mega bricked³, i believe is the technical term
it "boots" to a black screen when the battery is inserted and none of the buttons, capactive or physical, work and the only way to power it off is to pull the battery
my computer only picks up some qualcomm-usb-whatever drivers (been a while since i plugged it) which according to the internet has to do with some sort of qualcomm download mode
i was hoping to jtag it, because according to the internet, its the ultimate recovery tool, but i have no clue how to use it and cant find a good guide on the internet specifically for an evo or something related
i have a board coming, so now i need your guys help using it and getting the software i need to reload my evo
i just wanna do a 100% total restore of the entire system, since id venture to guess thats the easiest and probably only option at this point

It is possible. You can be our guinea pig. Search for a thread already about this. It's probably at the beginning, I remember we were going to use this to nand write, before we had root.
But it's just easier to buy insurance.

yeah. just was thinking b/c itd be with HTC that they'd have to have more options for places to ship it to for fixing than the USA for ya.
i dont even have the ability to send out mail where im stationed at and plus i think the community is close to finding a jtag restore solution (hopefully)

YES , it does bother me bcoz anyone who stole the phone can switch off without entering any lock code or secure code this menu helps thief's a lot to have safe from their theft... why would anyone like it!!!!

LOL. Yeah. Right.
Anyways, the Power Menu lets you get out of a situation where you locked yourself out of the phone. Nothing is working (due to some bug), but the power menu works, giving you the chance to escape the situation by performing a proper shutdown. (Well, you can do that again by battery pull, but since here your cause is just, better to have official ways to do it).

beautiful! But then I was like how does yours have landscape home screen and mine doesn't. "I flashed a rom." He told me. Also for me to
learn how to root and flash a rom on my own. So I did and flashed a recovery I think it's what it's called. Clock Work mod. Now my phone

HTC Stock Recovery allows charging while phone is off ... When you install Custom Recovery they do not charge the phone hence you can never start the phone back up even to install a stock recovery ...
The term brick means that now it can be used more like a "brick" than a phone
Now to solve your problem ...
1. When you plug in the charger, does the led actually glow ?
2. If not, let is stay connected few mintes, then try powering on the phone.
led stays on I think for few seconds then turns off and never comes back on.
Can you point me to the CWM Recovery version you used (the thread?) because old ones dont allow off mode charging and then I have no idea how to get you out of this apart from contacting HTC (and they will charge you $$$)...
You might be right I might have used an older version and didn't realize.
