Finally google has kicked in, now it doesnt allow people without gmail email address to access the market place. Probably this is due to updates that it brought arround to provide paid apps.
Why should one need to be google binded to use free andorid apps available on market place? For me as of now I cannot access the market place. It says i need to have gmail account. Where as I am using google hosted domain app services and using primary email as [email protected]
Any work arround?
Use gmail as secondary account....
Its googles market and google makes the terms. If you cant accept them, dont use it then. there is plenty of other ways to get apps

Could you kindly suggest "plenty of other methods", I am dead stuck with dead market, no updates
Just Google it...

All Google apps accounts are being "upgraded" so that you can use them for things like Reader, Blogger, Youtube and of course Market.
If you are the apps administrator then you will have been sent am email by Google offering you the option of an early upgrade unless you have opted out of mailings!
If not, then sit tight and it will be with you soon. Failing that, just set up a secondary Google account for Market.
I am applied for transition, i hope this solves the issue.

Hi everyone,
New to the forum... My Hero's on it's way so I've been reading about rooting, etc, on this great forum I found . Never had an HTC before so not sure I really know what rooting is, but I'll soon give it a go and bust the phone or end up being able to do bluetooth file transfer!
Now to my question! I have my email all through my own domain, but run by/hosted by Google using google apps.
So I use a Googlemail webmail interface to collect my emails, but access it through mail.mydomain.com and get emails to [email protected] . My calendar works similarly.
Will this work with all the built in functionality of the Hero that ties in to Gmail accounts? Do I need to do a hack to do this, or will it work out of the box?
Thanks,
James
I use apps for domains too. Works perfectly except for buying software from the Market - had to open another account for that annoyingly.
Well, I've just recieved my Hero, and under my Google account, I entered my Google apps details, eg,
[email protected] and my relevant password. No luck It didn't recognise it. Off to do a bit of googling on the subject now, but any help on how to get it to sync with a Google Apps for Domains account greatly appreciated...
I can definitely guarantee you that it works. I use my domain with Google Apps for Domains, and the only thing that didn't work was paid apps on the market - even then, it knew that this was because I had an apps account and it asked me for a "normal" gmail account and would allow me to buy apps.
I suggest a full reset may be in order.
Regards,
Dave
Cheers
I just tried a hard reset and this time it worked when I entered the details as I booted up
Not sure if it's relevant but this is the "brown" HTV Hero from www.mobiles.co.uk
Loving the phone so far, really pleased it works with domains as that would have been a deal breaker!
Did I understand right, that the Hero asked for a normal gMail-Account in addition to the gApps-Account, if you want to buy software from the marketplace?
Or do I have to completely change to a normal gMail-Account if I want to buy something?
I'd like to keep my gApps-Account and have no problem to open an additinal gMail-Acc just for Marketplace.

Yes, this is correct. You still sign into the market using your gApps-Account, but you can't link a credit card to that account in the Market. In this case, all it does is asks you to authenticate yourself with a regular gMail account when checking out - all your apps are still linked in the Market to your regular gApps account.

So for some reason I get a server error when I buy apps now. My main Gmail on my phone is my schools email an which all my already purchased apps are tied too. I believe its because I can't use my school email anymore with Google checkout. Is my only option to create a new gmail an start over? I can log into android market on the computer with my school Gmail, an install apps. But if I try to buy one it just sits there loading.
So basically I can only have Google checkout with my alternate gmail but that's not my primary gmail. Any suggestions?

have you tried logging into the market directly on your computer and not your phone?
Yeah I can log into the market on my computer. What do you mean and not on my phone?

meaning can you select an app on your pc and get to the market from it (as opposed to doing it on your phone).
dunno, try clearing cache, data, etc on the phone and restart the market.
appbrain has an app on the market as well that lets you access your market account. appbrain is just a thin wrapper on top of the normal market (so it's not a separate one). Maybe that would work.
Yeah I can install free apps fine. But apps that cost, ill select my app an then it just goes to a loading screen an sits there. I tried deleting data from market an no go. I think it doesn't work because my my main gmail account on my phone is in compatible with Google checkout. I wish I.could go back to where I can manually enter my credit card info when purchasing apps from my phone.

I know there's an option in google business/education accounts just from using them that allows you to convert it to a normal google account. I can't remember if it's an admin or user setting offhand though. I think it's under https://www.google.com/accounts/b/1/ManageAccount
Is it something under personal settings?

If the link didn't work, then it must be am admin option only. I have admin access to the account/domain I checked. I can take a screen shot when I get home later.
The link you provided worked, I just don't know where to go from there.
Try turning in multiple sign in, I think that forces it to be a normal google account.
No go, unless there's something else should be doing. All I did was turn it on an check the boxes. I turned it on for my .edu account(primary) an also for my gmail(secondary) .

Hmm. I am out of options right now. I would contact google and see what they can do about not being able to access your applications if you are unable to that you paid for and/or porting them to another account.
Okay, I may just contact the couple devs for the paid apps that I really use an see if they can refund me when I bring them over to my other account. Thanks for the help and ideas.

I got a 10.1 tab last night and it's great. I have one issue maybe you can help me with regarding the market and apps. My wife and I both have android phones and we are sharing the tablet. When I set it up and put in our email addys I went into the market and it was downloading all of the app we have on our phones. Cool feature if I'm replacing my phone, but not for a shared device that I don't need to be identical to our phones. Is there a way to not make it do this? The thought I have is to create a dummy account for both of us but then it seems like it will be weird to use gmail app and stuff like that.
Thanks!
wait what?
Are both you using the same Google Account?
No shared accounts. I put in both of our gmails under, settings then accounts. Now we can switch between the 2 accounts in the gmail app but I hate that the market downloaded each of our phone apps.
It's because there is a setting when you first ran the market or setup your gmail on the tablet. It's the option where you allow Google to download previously purchased apps off the market and because your phone uses the same account, Google assumes you want the same apps, if the app is compatible with tablet. Remember purchase can be paid or free apps. It won't sync again like that after the first time unless you decide to reformat and you don't uncheck that box again.
I have two Google accounts that I use on my phone. One is just used for purchases and the other is for a personal email. So my issue is I bought this app to unlock the full version under one account, the one I use for my purchases, but to do this I had to remove my personal email account. After adding that account back, the app tries to use the Google play account I just use for email and says that I need to purchase the app to unlock the full version. Anybody have any idea how to fix this without permanently removing one account?

Why not just remove the email account from the phone and use the paid account for your phone, launch the Gmail app and then add the email account. That will pretty much do what you're wanting.

After readding the account it asks me to repurchase my iap. Somehow it defaults back to the other account as the default and since I purchased it on the other account it doesn't verify that I've bought it.
So far I've viewed a few threads with similar issues, but no solutions. I've found one, but it requires root. Remove the account, buy the app, make a tib, add the account, and then restore the tib
I don't use the Gmail app anyways, but I have had some past purchases on my other account that always end up having the apps trial period expire and say I don't own the app.

It sounds like you need to delete both accounts, along with the purchased apps and then only add the account you buy apps pin back to the phone and reinstall your apps. You should probably clear all Play Store and Google Services Framework data.
Then if you want the email back add it in only the Gmail app.

Yeah, but like I said I keep having issues with power amp when I do it that way since I bought that a long time ago on my old DROID on that account. It keeps defaulting back to trial. I think this case is unique since it was an iap. Every time I add that account back it gets reattached since I initially downloaded off the dummy account. When I couldn't get the account to change for the purchase, I deleted my dummy Gmail account and bought it. I guess I could just cough up money and buy power amp again lol.

Well the way I understand is you are adding them both to the phone instead of just adding one to the phone and then going in Gmail and adding the email account there.
If I am wrong maybe you need to contact Google and explain the issue and see if they have a fix.

Yeah, but what I'm saying is I need both added otherwise power amp always results back to the trial app stating they can't verify my license. Anyways, the tib method worked for me.
Hi,
So I purchased a couple in app purchases (upgraded to premium/no ads) on my phone. I used one google account, let's call it google account A. When I go to the app again, the apps ask me to purchase yet again and when I press buy it sends me to google account B. The apps (Reddit now and Muslim pro) only become premium when I remove account B from my phone. Once I re-add B, they go back to their free versions. I have tried removing both Google accounts and then signing in with A and then signing in with B and it'll become free.
I'm not sure if I'm making sense, in short the apps are paid versions if only google account A is on my phone, if both accounts are on there the apps go back to the free version.
How do I fix this? I need both accounts on my phone!
Thanks
