So I've bought the docking station for my Streak and as it is sitting next to my laptop I've instantly thought, "Wouldn't it be great if I could use the pretty large screen for my media player or tools palette!"
In ht tp://forum.xda-developers . com/showthread.php?t=677921 , I was able to find this: ht tp://ww w.zoneos . com/zonescreen.htm (video: ht tp://ww w.youtube . com/watch?v=X8G82A7KKtY). But doesn't seem to work very well
iOS already has an app of this nature: ht tp://areacellphone . com/2010/07/ipad-must-have-app-turn-into-second-monitor-windows7/
So, is there some working solution already?
PS: Sorry about those links, I'm still not allowed to post them
great idea !
i was thinking about that too.
nothing much to find but you could use myphone explorer to remote desktop and so use it as monitor. as close as it gets atm

Hello Friends,
Yesterday i got my NEW HTC S740 smartphone! I have to say that i'm really newbie to smartphones but i love this phone!!
I found all the features of the phone and i have to say that i'm very pleased with it! My problem is that i can't - fear to connect the phone to my computer!!
When i insert the cd of HTC in my computer it asks me to download Flash player. I download flash player and then i install it on my computer but i still can't open the cd!! Also i have installed Active Sync 4.5 on my pc! What i wanna ask is, can i connect the S740 on my pc with only Active Sync 4.5 or i have to install the program of HTC (the one i can't find because i don't have flash player)?? How can i fix the problem with flash player?
thanks in advance
My Activesync has probs with Vista
Not sure if this helps but from memory my activesync didnt work with vista and I needed some other syncing software for vista. I found it pretty easy so do a google search on syncing problems here.
I now sync my TYTN2 to my iMac and it works great as the iTunes all come across with no probs.
Enjoy
My friend i have XP! What about the problem with flash player? Why i can't read the cd?
In fact, if you've installed ActiveSync, you don't need anything else from the CD (maybe except User's Guide from the second disk). It contains (packed in Flash animations) just sync programs and few links. Anyway, if so curious, try to explore the CD and run start.exe directly from there...
Working ActiveSync should sit (greyed) now in the System Tray on the right side of the XP's bottom Taskbar. Right click over the icon and choose Connection Settigs... On following dialog first check the box Allow USB Connection.
When you'll connect your Rose to the machine now, it will start working without hassles. If any problems, first check the manual and if lost anyway, let us know again.
Ok i will try to connect with Active Sync!
WOW it worked!! thank you my friend!! Does the cd contain anything else useful?
Not really... Just links to WM 6.1 Home on Microsoft... Have a look there on TotalAccess, they're some freebies avalable.
On little trick for other places - open the connection dialog (as above) again and have a look, if the last box (Allow wireles...) is UNchecked. If so, hanged on USB your Rose will connect to internet trougth PC - it's faster and 100% "free".
And have a look on your built-in mobile favourites on Rose - you'll find a HTC page with few links. One little warning - you'll find there a link to Adobe FlashLiite, which does not work on Rose... Good tip is to check Google Maps application and maybe SkyFire (alternate browser with YouTube support).
As Pocket Internet Explorer tends to ignore WiFi connection, alternate browser is good to have anyway. Another, very solid option is Opera Mini. Just be aware - it's Java application. After installation you'll find it in Java console (it's in Accessories folder).
Enjoy!
thank you me friend for giving me these useful tips! It's really helpfull and will help me understand better my smartphone!!
P.S. How can i see youtube and generally streaming videos on my S740? I visited youtube but i couldn't watch videos!!
Until Adobe will understand, that WM 6.1 Standard has no limitations in that (the FlashLite just denies to install), as far as I know, the only way I see is the SkyFire browser as mentioned above. Just read Privacy statement on their site first, you'd probably not like info they're collecting...
Oh ok! And something last...
I want to buy an extra card because i need more space! What kind of card does it take?? Micro sd or Mini sd?? Confusing!
Micro. Don't be confused, on commercial photos they look the same, because usually sold with adapter in Mini size (micro is then just delivered inserted in the adapter).
Crossfingers with inserting card into the slot as this is only thing which drove me insane on early beginning...
Therefore I would recommend you the largest possible card to avoid a need to change it. As Rose supports the latest standards of SD Cards, you can use any size up to 32GB. Speed of the card isn't really critical - major snail in file operations is Windows Mobile file system. But this is area of little wizardry, because it depends on size, brand etc. With hight probability the most critical operation from this POV is video capturing by built-in camera.
So my recommendation is - don't spend money for useless speed, prefere size (otherwise you'll after few changes of cards in the slot throw Rose against the wall ;-) ). And if possible, just for sure, try to record some video on the card in highest size first directly in the shop and you'll see...
So, what i need is a Micro Sd card 32GB? Right?
Yeap. First word of my previous post...
Obviously, smaller sizes works as well and some (1-2 gigs) are today sold for nothing...
Maybe it's time to open 2nd CD with the manual (promise - no flash, just PDF file). I understand first confusions if somebody meets first Windows Mobile phone and enthusiasm (especially in combination WM + Rose ;-) ) should be supported.
Nevertheless in this stage manual would be faster than me (leaving for single malt "dinner" with friends ).
Ok my friend. Thank you for all your help! I will open the manual!!
Hello´s 2 all
1. Any suggestions for the best Docking station for an S3, I need one for my office desktop that I can easily slot my s3 into, with USB to recharge and remote control via Windows 7 PC.
2. Also it would be top$ is anyone has ideas to the best software/app that would give me full remote control from the PC over the S3 so that I can utilize my Windows 7 PCs Keyboard and mouse to use the S3's apps, phone, SMS etc. ?
Have tried to search the foras here but the search seems down for service.. And I cant get Google/Play to display the needed results
Airdroid is a pretty good android control app, it doesn't do exactly what you're asking, but it allows you to manages files, send texts emails and all sorts of stuff from a nice web browser interface.
As for best docking station, check the accessories forum for the i9300, there is a thread there for best accessories

I will give Airdroid a try, all ready got DroipTop that does something similar and if I root my S3 Droidtop can do remote control, screen shoots, but I am not to happy under the warant and so on to root my s3 at the current time.
Another one I have tried is Teamviewer "TV QuickSupp" app, witch is slow and only works over mobiledata network, if this worked over USB/WIFI it would be just what I was looking for
I started out writing my question in the i9300 accessories forum, but noticed that questions was not allowed :-/
Hello,
i'm searching for a 2th screen for my HTC Desire S. I think this is no special question for the Desire S so i post in the general category, please move this thread if i'm wrong. I want this beause the screen of my phone is so small and i would use it for watching movies and maybe surfing on websides. The screen don't have to support touch input, maybe you could use the normal phone screen as a touchpad like on a laptop.
I don't even know if such a device exists but normaly you all no more than I do. I would prefer to connect the screen over Bluetooth but i would be happy with any solution.
Thanks
install team viewer on your phone and pc. do a meeting and use your phone to control you pc and watch stuff on your pc or play games on your phone but with the screen on the pc
thank you for your response but i think this solution doesn't meet my requirements. If I use my PCs for that, the desire would get useless because i could direktly use my pc. I want something like an tablet display panel oder a pain lcd screen in 7" oder 10" so i can carry it around and use it portable (with attached battery). Something like this tinyurl.com/bemc4dy (sorry for tinyurl but i normaly can not post links) but not for the raspberry pi and maybe a bit cheaper. My question was a bit imprecise.
thanks
If you have a tablet you can still use team viewer on that. But the only problem is you have to be on wifi

Hi,
Sorry to interrupt here! I'm Sabrina from SnapPea. (I probably shouldn't made this other thread..) I've posted one thread at the APPS section in XDA about our PC manager, we compared some main metrics with Mobogenie. You can read this post to know more about SnapPea
The reason why I'm posting here is that, we know Micromax is a big brand from India, and we really want to make sure that SnapPea can work on Micromax devices as well, but we can't test on any Micromax devices here in Beijing. We actually tried to buy some from Flipkart but the order got cancelled, and we tried to have friends send some devices over, but the customs wouldn't let the package through...:crying::crying::crying: So I'm wondering, if anyone can help me test out our beta version? The download link is here (dropbox link, since it's in beta, we can't put it on our website).
BTW here is some main metrics comparison between SnapPea and Mobognie:
Package size
The package size for SnapPea is only 4.5MB
The package size for Mobogenie is 30.4MB
Installation time
It takes only 2.94s to install SnapPea on your PC (here is a video to prove)
It takes 6.87s to install Mobogenie
Photo loading time (tested on a phone with 2000+ photos)
SnapPea takes 1.25s to load pictures
Mobogenie takes 8.16s
×a word here: we have made improvement to the logic of content loading, which means the photos won't be necessarily loading from the top to the bottom, instead, we load where your eyes are at first
Contacts loading time (tested on a phone with 3000+ contacts)
SnapPea takes 1.48s to load pictures
Mobogenie takes 57.75s
Memory usage
SnapPea uses only 70MB when in use and 24.7MB when not
Mobogenie uses up to 146MB when in use and 70MB when not
As windows users, you must know how it sucks when some software takes too much memory...
Give it a try! I'm sure you won't be disappointed! And we are ready for the toughest feedback and willing to improve SnapPea the way you want it!
Thanks very much
well i am using snappea currently damn nice slick ui , as i need to use the smb server quite a lot and its quite nice , only issue for me is that everytime i need to connect my phone i need to put in the passcode/key/whatever to reconnect , if the pairing is saved it will be lot easier :3

Hi! So glad to see your reply I didn't know we already have user in India :victory::victory:
It seems that you like to connect via Wi-Fi? May I ask why you prefer Wi-Fi connection than USB?
Btw our new beta version has even nicer UI Try it :highfive:
A simple reason
I dont have my usb connected to the px evertime and my front usb ports are dead and for me wifi is easier though a bit slow but it just does the work and i am not restricted to keep my phone at one place

OK, I got it (seems like we need to add wifi connection back for the new version) Just curious - what about other Indian users? Do most of you prefer USB or Wifi? At first we thought it has to be USB:silly:
USB has its own advantages though
Ex. better read/write
but still wifi lets me copy my files without much effort :v
only thing that craps me out that i have to put in the wifi passcode for connecting it
Hi All . Just thought i would share my experience of using my Gear S without owning a Samsung Phone . I bought this watch to go running only with the option of being contactable when running / emergencys and it be truthfull it works a treat . Here what i do / think :-
Set my iphone to call divert to PAYG sim in watch before run
I have my running songs on my watch streaming via BT to my BT headphones
GPS works flawlessly
Watch set to always on using PAYG sim
Battery fine per run
What i wish for :-
Opera Mini
My Mac will see Watch when i plug it in
Kies not useless on my Mac ( can only load pictures ? ) - tried different USB's and just ordered a powered USB to try ? . Drivers installed etc
Overall after buying for £ 202 with £ 58 customs charge i'm pretty happy !
Any help / suggestions / answers appreciated !
Well if you can get access to an Android phone and download the Gear Manager on to it you can get Opera Mini from the Samsung Store on the Gear S.

Shame i will end up with owners entire contact list syncing with my watch and unable to delete . Never mind
Oh right I forgot about that. Maybe someone will upload the file somewhere and provide a link so you can sideload it. I would but I just got my Gear S yesterday and I'm still figuring things out.

Thanks for the file but how do i side load it ? Thanks
From what little research I've done so far it looks like you need to download the Tizen SDK for warable devices which comes with a tool called sdb which works just like adb for Android.

Wish i wasnt a novice and had a clue what you guys are on about
Well it seems the basics of it is you:
download and install the SDK I linked above
find the directory with the sdb executable
copy the Opera file into that directory
connect the Gear S to your computer
open up a command prompt in the sdb directory (Shift + Right Click)
type "sdb install <filename>"

A bit more info for you guys or potential new buyers :-
I previously stated GPS works flawlesly . After a bit more fiddling this is not the case . If you get your first outside fix then all is good for future GPS locks unless :-
I use bluetooth for anything ?
Watch runs out of battery ?
I turn on Wifi ?
All of these take me back to the start and waiting ages for first GPS lock ? Totally mental and useless to me as a 100% standalone user for running
I am very near to giving up
And lastly as a Mac user whatever i do cable / driver / usb and powered usb my Mac wont see my Gear S yet my daughters dying windows PC ( No problem ) . This is becoming so difficult for me to use .
Thanks for Listening
Hang Fire !
Kies just informed me of a Software Update !!!!!
Downloading know !
Hope all my problems are fixed
Update worked a treat !
GPS lock is super fast now ( even after re-start ) etc so thats me happy !
Even get a few more watch faces as well .........
And lastly as mine is a South Korean model the missing maps app has appeared
Very happy now
