anyone seen this FC before? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly
it keeps FCing and restarting on its own, make the phone un-usable because everytime i try to press a button, it will freeze, put up this FC, and when i click "force close" it will close what i was trying to open, and the cycle starts over again
i'm stock with the new JI6 update via KIES mini, had no problems for 3 days, and last night the phone ran out of batteries while i was out of the house and when i got back, i plugged it in, turned it on and i got this FC as the phone was doing the start-up media scan thing.
it will show this FC everytime i reboot as well

under settings -> manage applications -> running services there is a service called 'contacts storage' which is governed by android.process.acore
that's the only other clue i could dig out
*edit* mine doesn't seem to have anything to do with facebook, however, i can't access my contacts as everytime i try, this FC will force me out of the contacts screen

I've seen them a lot of times. When I get them, I just re-flash a new ROM onto my phone. It usually happens when I do something stupid to my phone.

i didnt do anything to it! everything was working, even after i updated to JI6 ... nothing was broken till it ran out juice yesturday.

I'll get this when I do a Titanium restore and restore the system data by mistake.

This should be in Q&A not development.
Also, try clearing your caches in Clockwork Recovery

[Q] Phone App force closes (Axura 2.2.7.1)

I recently updated from Axura 2.1 to 2.2.7.1, and now every time a call finishes, the com.android.phone app force closes, and my network connection resets. The call then doesn't show up in the call log.
I posted in the Axura thread, and they said odin to stock and reflash, so that I did. I was then VERY careful about what I restored in Titanium, as up to that point, I had been restoring everything but system apps. This time, I restored nothing in red, as instructed.
And still, the force close is happening. Also, if I turn on speaker phone, the icon stays on the status bar even after phone force closes, then speaker is on automatically for every call thereafter.
Help Please!
And Thanks in advanced!
Bump anybody?

Its possible you got a bad download. Its a pain but you could try re-downloading and reflashing. After reflashing I would hold off on restoring your titanium back up. See if you can duplicate the issue.

Sync Statusbar Icon

Since I unlocked the bootloader, and re-loaded my apps and system data, the stupid sync / arrow icon in the status bar will not go away... any idea on what process my be causing this, so I can freeze it's ass! Thanks for your help.
Mine has been doing that for over a month. Never could figure out how to fix it. I just froze Contacts Sync 2.2.2 and it seems to do the trick.
I have also noticed TIB automatically freezes ContactsUnconnected 2.2.2 everytime I reboot. Don't know if this is related or not.
No-risk attempt: did you try (in the gmail app) to clear cache / clear data / force stop and then restart gmail?
Edit: Or maybe go to settings->accounts->google and un-tick everything, reboot and then try enabling the syncs again? I'm just throwing ideas..
Yeah I think I tried everything. Even had some motor experts on the motor support forums trying to help. Never could figure it out. I think I left it up for like 4 days and it never shut off. So I just froze it.

Try clearing the cache via Manage Applications > All > Media Storage then reboot.
Still FC'ing
I have been having this issue as well. I noticed in running apps that Lookout was running android.process.media inside it, so I completely uninstalled Lookout, but the issue still exists. I cannot download or update anything from the market at all. I have cleared all cache including Dalvik cache. I am running the latest CM7 (CM7.1.0-Supersonic , Build GWK74) on an HTC Evo4g. Has anyone gotten this completely fixed without re-flashing the phone again?
Also, application called Torch is crashing every single time I tap the light bulb to use the camera LED as a flashlight. I do not use the High Brightness setting and the only way to actually get it to turn off is to go back into it when it crashes and select the Strobe feature and let it crash out again. Then it will actually turn off without having to reboot the phone, but it still shows the torch icon in the top corner. The FC error is : process.net.cactii.flash2
Any thoughts?
Thanks for all your help.
Thanks for posting this.
I just had the same problem, uninstalled lookout, and my media.process hasn't crashed anymore.
I had this issue a month ago, cleared some cache and didn't do anything. I installed different radio and it solved the problem at the time.

Problem with toggling the airplane mode on and off

Hello everyone.
Last week, I installed a call blocker program called root call blocker pro. Afterwards, I realized that the phone doesn't come out of airplane mode properly. I rebooted the phone many times and nothing was changed. I', getting a force close for the com.android.phone app. I finally uninstalled the call blocker app and rebooted and this time everything came back to normal.
The night before I turned the phone off, and now the phone has the same problem again. The airplane toggle doesn't work properly and no matter how hard I try, I can't get any antenna signal. I've removed the simcart for now, and when I go to settings, about the phone, I get the same force close message again.
Now I'm not sure if the problem was for the call blocker program.
I wanted to make a factory reset, but I suppose there should be an alternative for that.
Any suggestions?

Nope, didn't work. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like the problem was because of freezing Go launcher. I tried to get back to the stock launcher, but quitting Go launcher didn't take me back to the stock one. So I had to install "Home Switcher" and set my stock launcher as the default one. Since the choice was not permanent, I froze Go Launcher. It was working at the moment, but the reboot revealed the problem with turning the radio on.
Now I defrosted Go launcher, switched back to it and everything seems normal. But the problem is, I may not be able to go back to the stock launcher.

urgent help needed. factory reset didn't work

I have a 7100 sg3. I factory reset because my friend got a hold of my phone while I was asleep and tried deleting bloatware. In the process he seems to have gotten rid of, or made to stop working, the app that keeps calls log, as well using the dialpad on the phone to dial a number causes the phone app to freeze and crash, afterwards it says contacts crashed. After a phone call is completed the phone freezes until a message pops up saying that phone.sec has crashed.I also can't install apps wether from the market or 3rd party apk.
I've checked all the files that are related to these apps and they're all still there. Though obviously not operating properly. Oh another thing is that when I go to the application manager it doesn't show me how m much memory any one app is using. Also can't clear cache data.
Any and all ideas will be appreciated, comments to factory restore will be scoffed at
